Upon completion of my undergraduate degree at Western, I completed a M.DPE from OISE, U of T and was employed for 3 years at OISE running an infant developmental lab, before embarking on my tutoring business.

Raemyn is excited to be joining the Prep Academy Tutors team in the role of Franchise Support Manager. She has been working with Prep Academy for over two years. Raemyn is a certified teacher who is familiar with the curriculum guidelines and expectations over various grade levels, and she specializes in teaching English and Social Sciences. Raemyn majored in Educational Studies and graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Bachelor of Education degree. Raemyn is passionate about creating a safe, inclusive, and better educational experience for students. In her free time, Raemyn enjoys watching hockey, traveling, and spending time with her family

Aidyn, currently entering her 5th year at Brock University, is pursuing concurrent degrees in Education and Integrated Studies, specializing in French. Aidyn’s academic journey is marked by a strong foundation in French Immersion education.

Her practical experience in education includes serving as a Tutor at the Brock University Learning Lab, where Aidyn developed lesson plans to enhance literacy. As a Student Peer at the same university, she facilitated access to digital texts for students with special needs with a commitment to educational equity. Aidyn is actively pursuing professional development, attending seminars and classes in areas like trauma-informed education, inclusive teaching practices, and language acquisition strategies, to enrich her teaching credentials and better serve her students.

Through her tutoring efforts, Aidyn aspires to make a lasting impact on the educational journey of those she teaches, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to succeed!

Aija is currently completing her Bachelor of Education degree through the University of Calgary. She specializes in Elementary sciences, and is confident teaching any subject from K-6. She has her Level 1 Early Childhood Educator certification, and has experience working with students in an elementary school setting from her practicums, volunteer experiences, and class activities.
Aija excels in adapting to diverse learning environments and possesses strong patience, organizational, and time management skills.
Aija is passionate about outdoor and environmental education and is an advocate for play-based and hands-on learning.
Outside of tutoring, her interests include soccer, which she has played her whole life and continues to play today, experiencing new cultures through travel, and spending time with friends and family.

Anna graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Education, Secondary. While studying she was also a member of the Varsity Pandas Rugby Team. Balancing both playing competitive sport and being in post-secondary taught her many strategies on how to study properly and efficiently. She taught High School Sciences in Edmonton before moving to Calgary and entering into the field of Human Resources which also taps into her love for educating others in a different capacity. In addition to working, Anna enjoys coaching youth rugby.

Anne has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, a minor in Sociology, and a Bachelor of Education as an Elementary generalist. She attended the French Immersion program until grade 9, completed French 31b IB and continues to enjoy consuming French media from shows to music. In addition, she is passionate about writing and helping students develop their unique voice and perspective. Her love and passion for learning extend into STEM subjects such as science, math and computer science. Her latest learning passion is coding using the computer programming language Python and its practical application of mathematical reasoning concepts.

Anne was a competitive nationally ranked Canadian diver throughout school and her first degree. She had a first-hand understanding of the struggles student face when balancing academic goals alongside busy extracurriculars. Her goal as a tutor is to work as a team alongside students and their parents to find the best learning methods to achieve a student’s goals while focusing on developing a love for lifelong learning.

Antonia is working toward her Bachelor of Education Degree at Mount Royal University. Antonia has previous experience in tutoring and teaching within a classroom with a range of students and subjects. Antonia aims to infuse fun and enthusiasm into her lessons so that her students learn not only the subjects at hand but also the love of learning.

Bridget has an undergraduate degree from St. FX University in Human Kinetics with a minor in Biology and a specialization in French. She also obtained a Bachelor of Education at St. FX University. At St. FX Bridget competed as a Varsity Track and Field athlete, achieving Academic All-Canadian and St. FX Athlete of the Year in 2016.

French language and culture has been a big part of Bridget’s life, having grown up in the bilingual province of New Brunswick, taking French immersion from grades 6 – 12 and living in Trois Rivière, Québec.

Bridget taught a variety of subjects for four years in Calgary, both in-person and online. She has extensive tutoring experience in a wide range of subjects and grade levels.

In addition to teaching, Bridget continues to compete as an elite sprinter and hurdler across Canada and internationally. Bridget loves sports, being outside and spending time with family and friends. She is passionate about helping students achieve their true potential in school, sports and life in general!

Brittany is working towards her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, while double minoring in History and Social Studies. She has her Early Childhood Education Level One Certificate and was elected to be the Professional Development Chair of her program’s Student Board for 2023/24. She has experience with ages 4-12 and with teaching styles such as Montessori and Reggio. Brittany also has experience teaching in assorted environments including Preschools, the Calgary Zoo, Hospitals, various Classrooms, and Before/After School Programs. She is especially interested in education that incorporates diversity, accessibility, and equity.

Brittany’s love of learning is deepened through reading, especially books about the history of the Canadian Fur Trade and Arctic Exploration, focusing on Indigenous perspective. She also enjoys outdoor activities or handwork crafts that remind her of her hometown in Northern B.C. As a tutor, she hopes to help students believe in their ability to achieve their goals.

Christopher has an undergraduate degree from Queen’s University in History with a minor in Geography. He obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s of Education from the University of Ottawa. Following his master’s, Chris taught English and Creative Writing for two years in Canmore, Alberta. He has worked as a teacher and guidance counsellor at the University of Toronto Schools since 2019.

Chris has extensive tutoring experience in a wide range of subjects and grade levels. He firmly believes that all students can succeed.

David is a well presented and hard-working tutor holding a M.Sc.’s in construction project management, and two B.Sc. degrees in Engineering and Architecture Design, and more than 6 years of experience between lecturing, tutoring, design, coordination, and management in a wide geographic range including the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada. His passion about tutoring combined with hands on experience made him a suitable fit to be invited as seasonal lecturer, to teach undergraduate university students by several reputational institutions. David is currently focusing on tutoring Elementary, Junior high and high school students, and assisting our students in English, Math, Sciences, and Social Studies. He has extensive knowledge in tutoring Physics to post elementary and post secondary students. Beside teaching seasonally at the University of Calgary, David is currently working as a Government of Alberta Infrastructure Projects Manager.

Emily is pursuing her Bachelor of Education at Mount Royal University. She is majoring in Elementary and minoring in humanities. She has completed two practicums and tutored in literacy during her second practicum. Emily currently works for the Calgary Board of Education as an Educational Assistant.

In her spare time, you’ll find Emily travelling the world (she loves backpacking) and more locally she loves to run, to hike, to rock climb and to challenge herself with many other physical pursuits.

Erin graduated from a thesis-based Masters program in Physical Activity Sciences at Université de Montréal, with a specialization in Sport Psychology. She is bilingual and completed the majority of this degree in French. Previously, Erin attended StFX University, where she completed a Bachelor of Arts in Human Kinetics in the Pre-education stream, with a minor in French and a pair in Fine Arts. She is highly knowledgeable in the French language and in the areas of academic and scientific writing. Her primary teachables include French, English, Health, Science, and Art. Outside of school, Erin is a competitive track and field pentathlete and heptathlete, with a diverse athletic background in soccer and hockey which she competed in for over 15 years.
Erin has experience working with children of all ages as a track and field coach, gymnastics coach, lifeguard and swim instructor, and Fit 4 Life Student Leader.

Fatema graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. In 2012 she completed her Bachelor of Education in the primary and junior divisions. Fatema believes that working in small groups and one-on-one with students is highly effective in getting students to succeed which is why her passion is working with ESL students and students who need extra support in reading, writing and math. Fatema has received her reading specialist qualification through the Ontario College of Teachers. Fatema has experience teaching all grades, but over the last 2 years, she has worked in Grade 7. She is looking forward to a change in the coming year and getting back to working with younger students.

Frohar is a certified teacher in Alberta and in British Columbia. She has obtained her bachelors in English from the University of Calgary, her bachelor’s in education from the University of British Columbia, and her Master’s in Education from the University of Ottawa.

Frohar has over 5 years of experience in tutoring. She enjoys tutoring because she loves to see the improvement and growth in her students. Frohar believes in catering her lesson plans to the different needs of different students for optimal results. This includes keeping in consideration different learning styles as well as teaching in multimodal methods so that the lessons are not monotonous.

When she is not teaching or tutoring, Frohar enjoys her time with her friends and family going on hikes or playing other sports.

Hayley is an education and mathematics student at Mount Royal University working toward her certification. She holds a 4.0 GPA and has been placed on the Presidential Honour Role and the Dean’s List Honour Role. In addition, she has also received awards for achieving the top of her class and the top 15% of her faculty at Mount Royal University. Hayley has worked with a large range of learners in multiple subject areas and has experience tutoring in Mathematics, Science, and English. Hayley loves to learn and loves to share this joy with her students. She is a very enthusiastic individual and is excited to build positive relationships with her students!

Jae is working on concurrent degrees majoring in Education and Mathematics. She has a vast array of experience with students of all ages from Kindergarten to High School. She has worked with younger students through her volunteer work and in high school through after-school programs, tutoring and summer camps. Currently, Jae works with students ages 2-6 every Sunday through her church’s Sunday School program and tutors high school math students on the side. Jae has also completed the International Baccalaureate, where she studied higher level Mathematics, English, and Economics. Jae’s passion is helping her students feel confident in their learning and in themselves.

Janessa has a Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Science. Janessa has over 5 years experience teaching and tutoring in Alberta and abroad. She is qualified to teach science and math courses at the secondary level. She has taught abroad in Korea and Germany and enjoys learning about different perspectives in education. In her Bachelor of Education, she completed an undergraduate research project focused on understanding the impact teaching abroad has on teaching practice. Janessa continues to grow as an educator and looks forward to working with youth to achieve their goals.

Jayneel P. is a graduate in Astrophysics and Mathematics from the University of Calgary. Currently he is helping research before his Masters in Physics. Beyond research in Physics, Jayneel takes great pride in educating the future scientists and mathematicians of tomorrow, and in doing so he firmly believes he strengthens his own foundations in Physics and Mathematics. He has tutoring experience of 6 years, ranging from Elementary to University level subjects, and has seen a myriad of students all of diverse educational backgrounds. From this experience, Jayneel’s preferred method for teaching is to cultivate curiosity, allowing the student to gain confidence for self-exploration of the subject.

Jayraj is currently an undergraduate at the university of Calgary studying Cellular Molecular and Microbial biology. He has 4 years of teaching experience with middle school and high school students including those with learning difficulties such as ADHD and dyslexia. He has experience with study techniques and exam prep strategies to minimize test anxiety.

Jenilee had a Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology, as well as a Bachelor’ of Education. She is a certified teacher in Alberta and has taught science, math, and sports medicine at the high school level as well as grades 5 and 6. She has subbed all ages from K-12.

Jenny is a third-year Education student at the University of Calgary. She is passionate about helping others achieve their goals and finding different ways to create an enjoyable learning experience as she understands that everyone has a unique style of learning. Based on her various tutoring experiences, she is adept in assessing the best approach to engage and motivate her students, and help build their confidence as learners.

Josie is completing her Bachelor of Education (Elementary) Degree at Mount Royal University. She is a 2019 SAIT graduate of the Architectural Technologies Diploma Program. Previously, she has tutored 10C mathematics and the Science of Reading. She recently completed one of her practicums in a Grade 1 classroom and equally loves teaching and tutoring students from grade 1 all the way to high school.

In her spare time, Josie enjoys playing ringette and volunteering to help those less fortunate.

Julie-Anne has an undergraduate degree from the Wilfrid Laurier University, with a Bachelors of Honours English and a minor in French and History. She also has her Bachelors of Education at the University of Ottawa, where she is a certified teacher, both French and English.

In Ottawa, she was part of the comprehensive school health program and organized and managed the website for this cohort and volunteered for the Mindfulness program. She worked with the French Public School Board in Sudbury and the Art Gallery of Sudbury, where she taught various age groups in art and in French. She has extensive tutoring experience in a wide range of subjects and grade levels.

In addition to teaching, Julie-Anne loves being outdoors, going for hikes and climbing. She has paintings sold in a Boutique in Montreal and continues to be an artist known as JABcolours. She has recently completed her Masters at the University of Calgary in Drama, specializing in Playwriting. She is passionate about helping others be their best selves and loves working with children.

Kathleen is currently a 10th year teacher with RVS. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry and a Masters of Education specializing in Special Education. Junior High and Senior High Math and Sciences are Kathleen’s speciality. She has tutored students from Junior High to College level for over 7 years. She really enjoys helping students find success in their courses and finding ways to engage and motivate them to reach their goals.

Kelly has years of tutoring experience in various subjects and grades, with a particular interest in math. Her teaching philosophy is rooted in building trust, adding clarity, and embracing flexibility. As a parent of two middle-schoolers, she understands the unique challenges faced by today’s students (and parents).

As a recent career-shifter, Kelly has over 20 years of corporate training experience, including teaching in business classrooms around the world. She has also taught with CPA Alberta. Kelly is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Education at Ambrose University, with a commitment to lifelong learning.

Kelly studied French Immersion in Calgary and her kids are enrolled in this program as well. She is a strong believer in the power of learning a second language.

When she is not teaching, Kelly enjoys spending time with her family, skiing and reading.

Kendall is completing Bachelor of Education student at Mount Royal University. She is on the President’s list honor roll and takes pride in her academic successes to date. Having completed field experiences and practicum, Kendall has experience teaching and lesson planning in both one-on-one, and classroom settings. Her teaching philosophy involves creating fun, equitable learning opportunities for students of all backgrounds and learning styles. Kendall takes great pride in the relationships she develops with her students as she recognizes the value of mentorship.

Kennedy graduated from St. Francis Xavier with a Bachelor of Arts in 2020 and a Bachelor of Education in 2022. Her focus and specialty are elementary where she has done two practicums, one with grade 3’s and one with grade 4’s. Following graduation, Kennedy moved back to Calgary and has been substitute teaching and working with a variety of ages. Kennedy chose this path because she realized at a young age that she has a passion for working with children and helping others out.

Khadidja is a dedicated teacher candidate who is in the BEd program at Mount Royal University with a minor in Linguistics. She is passionate about teaching, especially when working with students who have learning disabilities. Her tutoring experience at CanLearn Society as a Reading Pilot as well as completing practicum in diverse CBE programs, such as the Pace Learning Program (PLP) and Montessori have equipped her with effective learning strategies that are personalized for her students. She holds an asset-based approach, highlighting students’ strengths to try to shift their focus from being stuck on learning obstacles to problem solving and practicing key skills that enable them to grow and thrive. She is a firm believer that learning is for all as she hopes to engage students in their learning to gradually build independence and confidence in their skills.

Kim has a Bachelor of Science (Biology) from the University of British Columbia and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Calgary (with a specialization in French). She has over 7 years of experience teaching in classrooms and extensive tutoring experience. Education is her passion and she enjoys finding unique ways to engage each student she works with to accelerate their academic progress and confidence in themselves.

Kim is a Masters level synchronized swimmer, she loves to hike with her golden retriever and she also enjoys teaching swimming and lifeguarding. In addition to teaching, travel is a huge part of Kim’s life and one of her favourite experiences was swimming 25km around the Greek Islands.

Leisha is in her third year of the Education degree while simultaneously completing a Psychology minor at the University of Calgary. Her teaching experience ranges from being a teaching assistant in preschools to currently being an online K-12 tutor with the Werklund School of Education. Her specialisation includes Math, Science, and English Language Arts at the K-6 level.

Her major combined with her tutoring experience has given her a strong foundation of the Alberta Curriculum and the confidence to teach it. Additionally, she has gained a deeper understanding of working with online teaching platforms and Zoom, which complements her teaching as an online tutor. Utilising a student-centered teaching approach is a crucial lesson she has learned from her degree, and it is something she ensures to incorporate into her teaching.

Liam is currently studying Cellular, Molecular and Microbial Biology–an honours bachelor of science program–here at the University of Calgary where he has won several scholarships based on academic prowess and character. Moreover, Liam has four years of tutoring experience, specializing with high-school math and sciences.

Lisa believes that the best learning happens when students have fun, have a choice, and are engaged in their learning. She is an animated, passionate, and caring teacher. Lisa has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and a Bachelor of Education as a French Immersion generalist. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree at the University of Calgary. Lisa has been a full-time K-8 French Immersion classroom teacher in Calgary for the past 17 years, including teaching English, grade one online, social-emotional learning, coaching sports, dance instructor, foods teacher, and was a learning coach. As a published author and a keynote speaker, she specializes in whole-child learning, infusing academic subjects with food, language, environmental education, movement, and intergenerational connections.

Lisa is a Certified Health and Yoga Coach, Culinary Nutrition Expert, and Certified cook. She marries this experience with her many years of teaching and parenting experience. She has taught in Thailand, Whistler, Springbank, Airdrie, Calgary, and Cochrane. Lisa is eager to work with families and students to continue encouraging a love of learning.

Above all else, Lucie enjoys introducing students of all ages to the joys of learning French, English, and Spanish. Witnessing their advancement is always gratifying for her. Part of Lucie’s experience includes teaching both individual and group classes for teenagers and adults while she lived in Columbia.
Now that she is back in Canada, she teaches French and Spanish to students as young as 3 years of age through to the teenage years. Lucie believes that the key to language acquisition is in a multi-pronged approach which includes reading, writing, listening and conversation. To enrich learning opportunities, Lucie incorporates cultural music, movies, and fun activities into her lessons.
In her non-teaching time, Lucie is passionate about outdoor pursuits, as well as playing the piano and creating artwork through painting.

Maddie is working towards her Bachelor of Education with a minor of linguistics. She has experience working in classrooms, observing lessons, teaching small lesson plans, and helping students one-on-one. In addition to all elementary subjects, Maddie specializes in intermediate math, another one of her passions. Maddie has worked with children of all ages volunteering with a variety of children’s programs from science, to reading, to art.

Majid has a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering and over 12 years of teaching experience in an academic settings. He started his teaching journey as a lecturer in a post-secondary institution in his home country, Iran. He has tutored high school to university levels since 2017. He is very passionate about learning and enjoys helping students in Math, Physics, and Engineering courses reach their academic goals.

He considers himself to be a lifelong learner and has acquired a love for website design as a hobby as well! It is his firm belief that learning is a two-way journey, and as much as he teaches his students, he learns from them in return.

Majid volunteers his time at a local public library and as a soccer coach. He does both in-person and online tutoring and has extensive experience using online platforms such as Zoom, Google Meet, and other platforms.

Marie-Danielle has a Bachelor’s degree in Education and French Language Arts from the University of Calgary. She has been teaching Social Studies, Art, French as a Second Language and French Language Arts to junior high students for over 10 years. She is a passionate teacher who enjoys exploring and guiding students into discovering their full potential and capabilities. Marie-Danielle was born in Québec and moved to Calgary at a young age. Every summer she makes the time to go back to Québec and visit her family and friends. In previous years, Marie-Danielle has also partaken in summer camps, teaching French to international students. She always enjoys working with students and being a part of their learning success.

Marika embarked on her teaching journey as a middle and high school teacher in public schools in South Africa, driven by her dedication to education and passion for guiding students. She further expanded her expertise by working as a college lecturer before deciding to move to Canada. This experience allowed her to refine her instructional skills and gain valuable insights into higher education.

For the past 17 years in Canada, Marika has had the privilege of working with numerous Grade 1 and 2 students, providing remedial support to enhance their reading skills. Witnessing the remarkable transformation of these young learners into confident and fluent readers has been an incredibly rewarding experience for her.
Marika’s expertise lies in guiding students to become proficient in writing essays and developing a deep comprehension of what they read. She is certified in copywriting and digital marketing, demonstrating her ability to effectively communicate and engage with students in the modern digital landscape. She also possesses a diploma in interior decorating and is a certified image consultant and colour specialist, showcasing her diverse range of interests and talents.

Outside of teaching, Marika indulges in her passions for floristry, perfumery, fashion, and digital marketing. These pursuits enrich her life and contribute to her ability to connect with students on different levels.

Maya received her Bachelor’s in Education from the University of Calgary and has over 20 years teaching experience in Alberta. Her focus has been elementary education in the areas of numeracy and literacy. She has experience working with students with diverse learning needs such as English as a Second Language, Learning Disabilities, ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Melanie has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, a Bachelor of Education and a Masters of Science in Mathematics Education. Along with her formal training in engineering, education, and mathematics education Melanie brings creativity and enthusiasm for quality teaching and learning.
Melanie has taught in British Columbia, Alberta, and Egypt since 2001. Teaching learners from all backgrounds, at all levels, requires versatility. To ensure course information is kept current, clear, and relevant, Melanie’s strategy is to continually adapt models and lessons to suit learner needs.

Nicole carries two degrees from the University of Lethbridge. A bachelors degree of fine arts as well as a bachelors degree in education. She has been teaching in the Calgary Catholic district for a number of years and has extensive experience with one on one tutoring. Nicole draws on her experiences in theatre to deliver engaging learning opportunities for all of her students.

Nicole is completing the Bachelor of Education program at Mount Royal University. She is minoring in French and has taken French throughout her school career. Within her B.Ed, she completed her third year practicum in a grade 3 class, where she planned and taught fifty percent of the day for five weeks. Additionally, during her second year in the program, she worked closely with a struggling grade one student on a weekly basis, tutoring her in reading throughout the school year. Nicole has ADHD, so she knows what it is like to be a student who is struggling, and she has tools to help students with similar learning challenges. Nicole loves working with kids and has wanted to be a division one teacher for a long time. She specifically wants to work with students through tutoring so she can help them in the same way she received help when she was in school. Nicole enjoys spending time in nature and exploring the mountains while spending time with her family and her pets. She is looking forward to continuing her journey helping students, through tutoring.

Nikki is currently in her second year at Mount Royal University pursuing a Bachelor of Education Degree. She is a competitive figure skater and skating coach. Additionally, she has extensive experience with one on one tutoring particularly with math and reading support for a variety of ages. Nikki loves musical theatre and also is a summer camp instructor with Chinook School of Music. She has a passion for teaching, helping others, and loves kids.

Paige is currently working on her Bachelor of Education. In addition to all subjects at the elementary level, Paige enjoys teaching and tutoring language arts through to Junior High. Paige learned at a young age, through her experiences coaching basketball, that she has both a passion and a gift for connecting with others. Her favourite part of the tutoring process is gaining a relationship with her students and giving them the help they need thanks to the close connection she establishes with each of her students. Helping her students learn how to learn is particularly rewarding for Paige.

Paige is currently in the process of completing a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education as a Generalist with a minor in Humanities. Paige attended the French Immersion Program for the entirety of her education and is now completing her degree through Campus Saint Jean at the University of Alberta. Paige is passionate about literacy and strives to instil a love of reading in all her students. As a student, Paige struggled with asking for help when needed. Because of this, she works with students to develop the skills needed to advocate for themselves and their needs from an early age. Paige’s goal as a tutor is to help students find a love of learning and to work with families to help their students grow.

Ricky was born and raised in Calgary. Upon completion of his chemistry degree at McGill University, he went on to obtain his teaching degree, specializing in senior chemistry and physics, at the University of Toronto. His previous experience working as a teaching assistant and residence assistant confirmed his love for supporting student development and mentoring youth.

Ricky understands that no two students learn the same and is actively conscious of diverse learning styles. It is with this mindset that he strives to be responsive, tailoring learning to every student’s needs. A safe and supportive environment, strong rapport with students, and building confidence and self-management skills are also key elements of his teaching approach.

Outside of the classroom, Ricky enjoys bouldering, choreography and searching for the perfect cinnamon bun.

Riley is working toward her degree Elementary Education at Mount Royal University and minoring in Linguistics. Although her primary focus is at the elementary level, she has experience working one on one one and in small groups to support junior high math students. Riley grew up competitively Irish Dancing in Calgary and for the past four years has been coaching beginner dancers. Riley’s passion for education stemmed from helping a classmate with autism. She saw the difference she was able to make for that student, and since then became passionate about making a difference in all children’s lives.

Sally is a Secondary School English Teacher from London, UK, specialising in High School level ELA, and analytical essay writing. She has been teaching in classrooms and tutoring for over 20 years. Now a Citizen of Canada, she has been tutoring Canadian students for nearly 10 years. She prides herself in enabling students to achieve and surpass their perceived ability, especially in exams.
When not giving glorious ELA sessions to students, or presenting classes for Teacher’s Pet in Calgary’s elementary schools, Sally can mostly be found outdoors.

Samantha is completing her Bachelor of Secondary Education in English Literature at the University of Alberta. She enjoys sharing her love of literature and language arts with students and helping them develop skills and strategies to find success in their coursework. She currently works one-on-one with several junior high and high school students. Samantha helps her students break down essays and navigate through the writing process.  She also collaborates with students to create individualized writing strategy plans. When she’s not teaching, Samantha enjoys spending time in the outdoors or curled up with a book, a cat and a cup of tea.

Sana is pursuing a Bachelor of Education Degree at Mount Royal University. Holding a Master’s degree in Law, Sana has chosen to focus her expertise on Elementary Education to fulfil her passion for educating and supporting children.
Throughout her academic journey, Sana has consistently excelled, earning a place on the dean’s honour roll list for every semester. With a passion for teaching, Sana has accumulated years of valuable field experience and practicum, working with students ranging from Kindergarten to Grade 6. Beyond the classroom, Sana has over a year of one-on-one tutoring experience, further demonstrating her commitment to fostering educational growth.
As a member of the Alberta Teachers’ Association (ATA) and the Mount Royal University Education Undergraduate Society (EUS), Sana engages with the educational community on both professional and student levels. She is passionate about travelling around the world, delving into stories, and taking hikes for relaxation.
Sana’s teaching philosophy is centered around the core belief that building strong relationships with students and promoting inclusivity are integral components of effective education.

Sandy was born in Venezuela. She graduated from the University of Alberta with a double major in Education and Physical Education and a minor in Spanish. After completing her degrees, Sandy began her teaching career teaching Spanish to students from grade 5 to 12. In 2006, Sandy completed a master’s degree in Spanish Language and Culture at the University of Granada in Spain. Teaching Spanish to children and adults is a passion that Sandy has successfully pursued for more than 17 years. Sandy believes that learning another language allows students to not only communicate but to also become active and participatory global citizens. Learning a second or a third language and their respective cultures allow students to see the world and other point of views through a critical, caring and compassionate lens.

Sarah is pursuing her Bachelor of Elementary Education with a double minor in Humanities and Elementary Health and Physical Education at Mount Royal University. Sarah has experience teaching grades 1-9 through her field experiences and practicums. She has completed courses in teaching literacy, math skills, inclusive education, and effective assessment. She believes that every child is capable of achieving academic success when given tools that support their individual learning styles. She believes in holistic education, which honours the entire child including their mental, physical, and emotional selves. She engages in reflective practice supported by up-to-date research within the educational field, communicating with her students and their parents on how she can adapt and improve to serve their needs better. Sarah is excited and honoured by this opportunity to connect with and support young learners.

Seerat has a PhD in Organic Chemistry, a Masters in Inorganic Chemistry, and a Bachelors with Physics, Chemistry and Math majors. She is passionate about Science and has 5 years of University level teaching experience. For her, teaching is a noble profession and imparting education runs in her family. She has great ethics, a strong character and makes for a great teacher. She has several awards and accolades for her recognition as an outstanding student as well as a teacher. Her excellent communication skills are another feather in her cap. She is a subject matter expert in Organic Chemistry and can teach other subjects such as physics, and math as well.

Shawnee has a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Calgary. Prior to completing her Education program, Shawnee received degrees in Geological and Biological Sciences. Shawnee has taught various subjects and grade levels; her primary experience is teaching Junior High math and science. She loves watching students grow and develop and helping to facilitate that.

Shawnee’s personal interests include working in animal rescue, spending time camping with her family and travelling.

Sheldon has a BA with a Double Major in History & Psychology with a Minor in English, and a BEd with a Double Major in English & Social Studies. He has been teaching High School in Alberta for about 15 years. This time has included many Diploma Marking sessions (LA & SS -1 & -2) and many Summer School sessions as well. Sheldon has tutored for years and finds the one-on-one setting to be incredibly helpful and rewarding.

Talfryn is a certified teacher in both the UK and Alberta, boasting over 20 years of experience working with a diverse array of students across various abilities and subjects. Beginning his career with a strong foundation in Science and Math, he quickly diversified into teaching humanities at different academic levels.

His expertise extends to catering to the needs of both typical and atypical (LD) students, allowing him to customize approaches that bolster individual student confidence in their learning journey. Through his role as a learning coach, Talfryn has successfully supported students operating below grade level, adeptly closing learning gaps and fostering academic progress relative to their peers.

His proficiency in executive functioning skills has significantly contributed to alleviating student stress levels. By assisting them in effectively planning their study time, managing homework, and completing assignments, Talfryn ensures a manageable and structured approach to their academic responsibilities.

Thalice is a passionate and loving individual who has wanted to be a teacher since the age of five. She moved to Canada at the age of eight and learned the English language within six months, It was her experiences that guided her career choices and goals to make learning a fun and inclusive environment. As a tutor, Thalice strives to make every child feel accepted and equal. She is the kind of teacher who has a positive impact on a student’s life and sets them up for great academic success. Thalice is currently attending Mount Royal University in hopes of becoming an outstanding teacher focusing on an elementary level with multiple minors which include, Humanities and Spanish Language and Cultures. Thalice has also taken a number of workshops including, the “Working with parents to promote student success” workshop and “ADHD: What Educators Need to Know.”. Thalice is also fluent in both Spanish and English, with Spanish being her first Language. She believes that teaching plays an important role in society and with the right education children can truly excel and become academically driven students and lifelong learners. Thalice believes that students learn best when they work at their own pace and receive the right amount of guidance, which makes her a great asset when it comes to a child’s academic needs.

Tina recently graduated with a Bachelor of Education in (specialization in mathematics) and holds a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from the University of Calgary. Tina has experience working with students in K-12 and while most of her teaching has been with the Calgary Board of Education, she also completed a teaching exchange in Brisbane, Australia. Throughout her time at university she was heavily involved on campus, taking on leadership roles within student government, as a student researcher, and most recently, as an Executive on the Education Students’ Association. Tina enjoys sharing her love of science with students of all ages and was a STEM instructor for three years with Minds in Motion, a science outreach non-profit. In her career as an educator, she hopes to encourage future generations of students to pursue careers in STEM.

Vicki graduated with a Bachelor of Health Sciences (First Class Hons) from the University of Calgary and now is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Biological Sciences. She has teaching experience with all age groups and has taught up to the undergraduate level. She has recently completed her graduate student certification in University Learning and Teaching at the University of Calgary.

Her teaching philosophy aims to motivate students to feel confident in their own learning capabilities and driven to pursue their academic interests outside of the classroom.

Vivian graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor’s in Education and holds an Alberta Teaching Certificate.

Vivian’s passion for education has driven her to take on many roles. As a pre-service teacher, she provided support to children in various learning environments such as in schools, at a community center and online via Zoom. During this time, she primarily worked with children who spoke English as a second language. Once she became a certified teacher, she had the opportunity to run her own classroom, teaching pre-kindergarten and kindergarten children full-time.

Vivian is currently working in early intervention as an Education Coordinator, providing support to pre-school aged children with special education coding. When she is not working with the little ones, she is a substitute teacher with the public-school division where she enjoys teaching all subjects to all elementary levels.

Wendy graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelors of Education and Natural Sciences. Wendy has had several years of work experience during and after her undergraduate degree with students in all age groups, mainly in the senior level. Wendy currently works with the Calgary Board of Education teaching higher levels of science.
Wendy can provide academic coaching to all students to discover their method of learning as this contributes to Wendy’s teaching philosophy, student centered learning. This is where the students’ learning differences are accounted for while support is provided.

As much as Wendy is passionate of providing support to students, the teacher must also be willing to learn as learning is a dynamic process for both teacher and student.

Outside of academics, Wendy is an avid hiker and enjoys the outdoors whenever possible. If she is not outside, she brings the outside inside by providing a home to many varieties of plants. Wendy describes plants and students in a very similar way where “plants and students will only thrive when provided the best environment and necessary accommodations”.

Yiman has a Bachelor Degrees in Education and Mathematics. She is a dynamic educator with experience in both Canadian and international school settings. She strives to help students realize their potential through goal setting and understanding students’ passions. Whether tutoring young children or at the high school level, Yiman aims to support students in understanding why academics are important and how it will help them in life and school.

Yvonne received her Bachelor of Education from the University of Calgary, specializing in Elementary Mathematics. She has been a classroom teacher for almost a decade, working in both public and private schools. Yvonne has taught all core subjects in elementary and middle school grades. Her personal interests include art and cooking.

Zoe is currently in her second year of the Elementary Education program at Mount Royal University. In addition to working on her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, she is also completing her minor in General Sciences. She has a passion for working with children and youth and has spent the last 5 years working with children of all ages. In her free time, Zoe loves skiing, reading, and painting.
