The Owner
Cara Gilligan
Cara has lived in Boise off and on since 1992. After graduating with her degree from Boise State University and being a Registered Nurse for 27 years, Cara leads with a question that provides the foundation for everything she is involved in. “Is this what you want for your mother/father/daughter/son?”
Wearing a variety of hats within this profession, she has formally led multiple departments and worked at the bedside in surgical services, school nursing, intensive care, and compliance. Her love of fitness and belief that wellness integrates the mind, body, and soul led her to attain a 200+ hour certified yoga teaching credential and manage a successful yoga franchise in Santa Barbara, California that hosted 1000 students per day.
She understands the importance of connection, cultivating relationships, and how education can open doors and create empowerment. In her spare time, she loves being in nature, hiking with her 100lb malamute husky, cheering on the Boise State Broncos, attending concerts, and spending time with her family.

Certified Tutors in Boise
Prep Academy Tutors is an elite team of certified teachers who have the qualifications and knowledge needed to provide a professional level of education. Our Boise tutors are certified tutors in Idaho who are qualified to teach but believe in the value of personalized education. After COVID-19, many K-12 students have fallen behind. Tutoring has been proven to be the most effective method of getting students back to their grade level, or above. One-on-one tutoring is more effective than smaller class sizes, after-school classes, longer semesters, longer school days, or summer school. In addition, today’s large class sizes make it nearly impossible to give each student the right level of attention they need. We pride ourselves in providing certified educators with an alternative option that allows them to educate in an environment that is low-pressure and personal to each student. At Prep Academy Tutors, we create an environment that is both fulfilling and enriching for both our tutors and students.

High School Teacher
About
Aaron has spent 10 years teaching social studies. In those years, he taught United States History, Economics, Eastern Geographic Perspectives, and an introduction to anthropology. He loved teaching at the high school level, but it seldom allowed him to dive deep into the curriculum and intently work with students to see the light bulb illuminate. He believes every student can master what is taught. Being able to personalize lessons and help your student break through barriers builds confidence for your student’s continued success!
Aaron earned his B.A. in anthropology from Biola University a small Christian Liberal Arts University in Southern California. He then earned his M.Ed in Secondary Education in conjunction with his teaching credential in social studies from the University of Phoenix. And most recently, he earned his M.Ed. in Educational Administration from Concordia University Irvine.
When Aaron is not teaching, he is on the go with his family and kids with all the activities and sports they participate in. He is at the gym for gymnastics with his two daughters, hiking a trail, or on a bike ride enjoying all the natural beauty that is here in the Treasure Valley. He also teaches part-time at CWI (College of Western Idaho) a basic reading class for the Adult Education Program, to individuals seeking to further their education and careers.
He looks forward to getting to know you and your student and being a part of their educational journey!

About
Douglas is a certified teacher, university faculty member, former museum curator, and all-around renaissance man. Few have a professional background like him: Archaeology, Astronomy, History, Paleontology, and Religious Studies are just a few of the subjects Douglas has worked and taught in. After completing a degree in History he went to work for museums in Los Angeles, including the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County and Griffith Observatory. During that time he acquired a Master of Arts in Teaching, taught in several school districts, and all while continuing to work in museums. Since moving to Idaho, he has worked in community based mental health, the state prison system, and currently he is at Boise State teaching Human Anatomy and Physiology Labs, (he prefers labs over lectures – they’re more fun!). Douglas’s style is very unique, interactive, and is about inspiring and not just rote knowledge acquisition. From lecturing about Dwarf Planet Pluto at the most visited public observatory in the world, to teaching inmates about fossilization and quantum mechanics, Douglas is available to help you, or your student, find new appreciation for their natural and cultural worlds, create a tomorrow that is better than today, and learn a little along the way!
Some examples of how he works:
Does your student need to work on basic reading and writing? Let’s use dinosaurs to develop those skills!
Does your student need to work on writing proper essays, developing ideas, and forming arguments? Let’s dig up something archaeological and either support or refute it!
Maybe your student needs someone to talk with while learning about the wonders of the past, the mysteries of the cosmos, and other big ideas. Let’s dive in and see where we end up!
From kindergarten to college, Douglas will endeavor to help your student achieve academically – and have fun while doing it!
