Raemyn is a Franchise Support Manager at Prep Academy Tutors. She has been working with Prep Academy since 2020. Raemyn is a certified teacher who is familiar with the curriculum guidelines and expectations over various grade levels, and she specializes in teaching English and Social Sciences. Raemyn majored in Educational Studies and graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Bachelor of Education degree. Raemyn is passionate about creating a safe, inclusive, and better educational experience for students. In her free time, Raemyn enjoys watching hockey, traveling, reading, and spending time with her family.

Aaron has been teaching for 10 years in a variety of contexts locally and internationally. He has a Master’s degree in Education and Child Studies and a TESL certificate from the University of Toronto, as well as a Bachelors of Arts in Communication from Carleton University. He has spent 2 years teaching in private and public elementary schools and 8 teaching ESL in several contexts, including Canadian and South Korean language schools and Canadian colleges. He also has 8 years experience tutoring adults and children in English as a second language and on Ontario curriculum from Gr 1-9. His specialties are ESL, Gr. 1-8 science, English, social studies and history.

Abenezer has a Master’s degree in Applied Computing from the University of Toronto, and a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Physics from the University of British Columbia. He has 4 years of teaching experience accumulated as a private tutor, a teaching assistant, and a math mentor. Currently, Abenezer works as a Machine Learning Engineer at a Voice AI company. Abhishek Shetty (uh-bhee-shake shehtea) currently works as a grade 5 homeroom teacher at a private IB school in Mississauga, Ontario. He has a Bachelor’s Degree of Arts in English Literature, Political Science and Psychology; a Master’s Degree of Arts in Education Management and a Bachelor of Education Degree from Western University in Ontario. Abhishek has been an Ontario Certified teacher since December 2021.

Adeel earned his Masters in Education Technology from the University of British Columbia in 2015 and his Bachelor of Education from Nipissing University in 1999. In addition, he has a degree in Economics from Brock University and a diploma in Web/Multimedia Management and Webmaster from Georgian College. Adeel has Basic Qualifications to teach Junior and Intermediate Divisions, as well as qualifications in French, e-learning, and technology integration. Adeel strongly believes that each teaching opportunity should be unique to the students and that a strong relationship between teacher and student is vital to learning. He loves to teach coding to all grade levels, especially through the creation of computer games. Teaching French is also a passion of his, as he loves to see parent’s reactions when their children pick up a Parisian accent. Outside of the classroom, Adeel likes to spend his time playing with his two children and exploring the Muskoka region for great beaches and ice cream stands.

Aidin, a PhD candidate in Environmental Studies at York University, brings extensive teaching experience and a deep passion for education to Prep Academy Tutors. With a first PhD in political geography and a robust background in urban and regional planning, his interdisciplinary expertise spans a diverse range of social sciences. Aidin has taught courses at York University and the University of Toronto, including Urbanization in Developing Countries and Planning and Governing the Metropolis.
Aidin offers private tutorials in English and the social sciences, with a focus on geography, history, and politics for high school students. Committed to enhancing students’ writing and critical thinking abilities, he guides them in organizing and crafting well-structured, coherent essays, preparing them for future academic success at college and university levels. Through tailored support, Aidin empowers students with the analytical skills needed to excel in their studies.
Aidin is an accomplished writer and researcher, with numerous publications in both English and Persian. His work has appeared in respected journals such as Global Iranian Studies Review, Radio Zamaneh, Cinema Iranica, Critique of Political Economy, and The Bullet. Aidin has also translated key political and philosophical works into Persian. He founded Space & Dialectics, the first online journal on critical urban theory and human geography in Farsi. Aidin’s commitment to emancipatory education and student advocacy is at the heart of his work, highlighted by his role as VP Community for York University Graduate Students’ Association. Aidin is an avid soccer player, enjoying the sport several times a week.

Alain obtained his Master’s degree from the University of Paris in France and has two decades of experience teaching French and social sciences in various educational institutions, including colleges, language schools and universities.

Alain Zaramian holds a B.A. (Classical Languages, Religious Studies) from the University of Toronto and an M.A. and Ph.D. (Classical Languages) from the University of Texas at Austin, where he also taught Latin and ancient Greek languages and literature. In 2018, he was awarded the Classics Department’s annual award for teaching. He additionally has many years of tutoring experience, working with high school and university students in a broad range of subjects across the humanities and social sciences. He is currently working on his first book, a study of ancient Greek and Roman religious poetry.

In his spare time, Alain loves to read, watch movies, and cheer for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Alan is a graduate of the McMaster Bachelor of Health Sciences (Honours) program with over eight and a half years of high school teaching experience with the Toronto District School Board. His qualifications include biology, chemistry, science, math (grade 9-10), and special education. He is currently the Assistant Curriculum Leader of Chemistry at his school. Along with having taught the senior science courses several times throughout his teaching career, he has also taught GLE (learning strategies) and credit recovery, and FOS (focus on success), so he comes with experience on helping students achieve success in their academics.

As an Ontario Certified Teacher from Lakehead University, Alana is a passionate young professional. She graduated with a Bachelor of Education along with a Bachelor of Arts and Science in Geography. Alana is qualified to teach at the Primary and Junior levels with Additional Qualifications in both Special Education and Primary/Junior Mathematics. Alana believes that students learn differently than one another which is why she creates lessons modified for each individual; she completes this with patience, organization and enthusiasm. Alana has experience with children ages three to thirteen inside and outside of the formal school setting. She has been a camp counselor, children’s activity coordinator, arts and craft coordinator for private company as well as a children’s literacy instructor. Alana attended a French Immersion Elementary School giving her a considerable background with the French language, which continued throughout high sc hool. Once a tutored child herself, she now thrives on working through math problems, creating stories, forming science experiments and working on social studies with children. She is always excited to take on new students to help them gain the skills and confidence needed to be hard-working successful individuals. In her capacity as a graduate teaching assistant, she lectures, runs tutorials and office hours for undergraduate mathematics courses at the University of Waterloo. For those students planning to pursue a STEM education, she can provide academic and career guidance.

In her spare time, she works on experimental physics research projects at the Institute for Quantum Computing developing quantum sensing technologies.

Alex holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology and a Master of Health Sciences specializing in Occupational and Environmental Health, both earned from the University of Toronto. Furthermore, having successfully completed the first two years of medical school, Alex’s educational foundation is firmly anchored in the realm of the biological and medical sciences.

Alex has over 15 years of experience as an environment, health, and safety (EHS) professional. His extensive background encompasses areas such as occupational and public health, as well as safety and industrial hygiene. He has applied his expertise across a diverse range of industries, including pharmaceuticals, construction, healthcare, manufacturing, and the services sector, underscoring his adaptability and breadth of knowledge.

Alex is passionate about health and wellness, and believes effective learning needs to be a fun and rewarding experience, devoid of unnecessary stress. He strives for continuous improvement and optimization in his academic, professional and personal endeavours. Drawing from his own academic journey, he aspires to impart his insights and strategies to aspiring learners.

Beyond having strong writing skills in English, Alex also exhibits fluency in both spoken and written Spanish. Coming from a musical family, Alex finds solace and balance in the world of music, playing various musical instruments in his spare time and occasionally performing.

Alina is a medical student at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry (Western University). She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Guelph with a major in biomedical sciences and minor in neuroscience before completing her Masters of Science at the University of Toronto. Alina has extensive teaching experience during her undergraduate and graduate studies as a graduate teaching assistant. She was a teaching assistant at the University of Toronto for over 3 years, teaching cell and molecular biology, physiology, and human anatomy. Prior to university, Alina tutored middle and high school students in biology, chemistry and math.

Outside of academia, Alina has had unique career experiences working at a management consulting firm and as a real estate agent. She used to be a competitive swimmer and continues her swimming passion during her free time. She loves to paint, travel, and practice yoga. Alina is very passionate about working with students to help them achieve their full potential and prepare them for their own future career goals.

Allison is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership & Policy at the University of Toronto. She recently completed her Concurrent Education degree at Queen’s University, specializing in Geography and English, with a focus on Indigenous Education. Certified by the OCT, Allison brings a wealth of experience working with students from diverse backgrounds, particularly in grades 5-12. Allison is able to teach all subjects at the grade 5-8 levels, and English and Geography at the high school level. Allison is deeply committed to creating safe, inclusive learning spaces where students of all backgrounds feel valued and respected. With a holistic approach to teaching, Allison strives to support students mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually, helping them navigate the challenges of adolescence and achieve their goals. Allyssa is an Ontario Certified Teacher in the Primary/Junior division. She has an honours Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Guelph and a Bachelor of Education from Lakehead University. She is a dedicated and experienced professional who possesses a great understanding of tailored learning approaches.
With a commitment to creating a positive and collaborative learning environment, Allyssa believes in the power of personalized instruction. She adeptly adjusts her teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and paces, fostering an atmosphere where students feel comfortable expressing challenges and celebrating successes.
Prior to teaching Allyssa had a career in events management working with a large culturally diverse group. She specialized in training which is where her focus of individualized instruction stems from and led her to complete her teaching degree. She is currently teaching grade 5/6.
In her free time she has always had a passion for travel and continues to do so with her family and loves to explore new places with her children and husband.

Aman recently graduated from Queen’s University with a dual degree in Computing and Commerce. Throughout his many years of being a student, Aman has developed effective study habits and organizational skills that he wishes to share with others to help them feel more confident in their studies. He has previous experience tutoring computer science and mathematics at the university and high school level. Aman is passionate about creating a safe and encouraging environment for students so that they feel successful and accomplished in their studies. Outside of tutoring, Aman enjoys watching football, playing golf and playing the guitar.

Amanda is currently a Special Education teacher for the Toronto District School Board. She is qualified to teach kindergarten to grade ten! She began teaching the year of the pandemic, and began teaching at an elite specialized private school for children with Autism. After completing a year working with students with Autism, she found her way into a mainstream classroom, which did not have her following her truest passion. Now you can find Amanda working within the TDSB in a specialized program working with students with exceptionalities who cannot be within the mainstream classroom. She is currently working with students that have behavioural problems, extreme mental health issues or students with underlying health concerns which cannot be treated within the regular classroom!

Amanda is an OCT certified secondary teacher who focuses on university level math and physics. She has a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the University of Guelph and her Bachelor of Education in I/S Math and Physics from Nipissing University. Amanda also has additional qualifications in biology, social science and integration of technology in the classroom.

Over the last 10 years, Amanda has taught in a variety of different environments including the Northwest Territories, Manitoba, Adult Education and at The National Ski Academy. She now has a permanent job at a local secondary school. Outside of the classroom, Amanda enjoys skiing, hiking and rescuing dogs.

Amer graduated from York University with a Bachelor’s Degree in biology, and just recently completed a pre-health post baccalaureate program at Temple University in Philadelphia. Amer is passionate about science and he is looking forward to starting dental school at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry in the fall.

He has experience working with students, as he used to teach piano and be a swim instructor to students of all different ages. Amer emphasizes organization in his approach to success in the classroom. Over the last 6 years, Amer has worked on his degree and is extremely passionate about sharing learning strategies and tips that have helped him find success in school and his studies. Outside of class, Amer has many hobbies including playing sports, making music, and spending time with family and friends.

Amy is an Ontario Certified Teacher who is qualified to teach any subject ranging from Kindergarten to Grade Eight. She is an aspiring educator who desires to co-construct safe learning environments with her students so that they feel empowered to explore their full potentials. Amy currently works full-time as a teacher with the York Region District School Board. She has a Bachelor of Education from York University and has worked for more than three years at various childcare and tutoring centres with her Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Studies that she obtained at Ryerson University. Amy is bilingual as she is fluent in both Korean and English.

Anders is a Primary, Junior and Intermediate Ontario Certified Teacher working during the school year with the Simcoe County District School Board with over 20 years experience. He graduated from Lakehed University with an Bachelor of Natural Science degree and Bachelors of Education. Anders has continued his professional development in teaching by taking additional qualifications courses in becoming a Specialist in both Special Education and Physical Education. Recently, Anders completed the Principals Qualification Program with the Ontario Principals Council.

Anders has experience teaching at the Junior and Intermediate divisions in all subjects- Mathematics, Science, Geography, History, English, Social Studies . He also has extensive experience working with students that have Individual Education Plans to support their learning styles. Anders taught in an Intermediate Learning Center and gained valuable experience learning best practices in instructing students with a variety of different learning styles. He also spent time teaching in the Northwest Territories community of Whati working with First Nation students and immersing himself in the Tlicho culture to understand pedagogy with northern students.

Anders has learned over the past 20 years of teaching that in order for students to fully engage in your program he must build positive rapport with the student. He will create a relationship built on student interests and use those interests to help support the student their their learning journey. Creating that foundation of trust is the basis of Anders’ instructional practices in the classroom and will continue to that with Prep Academy Tutors.

When not in the classroom, you can either find Anders on a lake fishing or in a hockey arena! Anders has a passion for sports and was involved in hockey professionally for many years as an official and continues to do that today as both a Junior Hockey coach and referee. He is married to another teacher for 21 years and has two children. His daughter attends Queens University and is a member of the Womens Basketball Team and his son is currently in Grade 12 and his looking to pursuing a football scholarship at the post-secondary level. Anders is so excited to be a part of the Prep Academy team and looks forward to helping support students in their educational journey.

Andre graduated with Honors in Social and Environmental Justice with a French Teaching Option at Nipissing University. Andre is bilingual and can tutor from grades 4-10. Andre believes that learning is never ending, and hopes to continue to work with students to help foster this mentality.

Andrea obtained a Bachelor of Education in the Primary, Junior, and Intermediate divisions. She has qualifications in FSL, Senior English, and 4 years of teaching experience. She has worked the past 4 years as an Elementary School teacher in Brantford, Ontario. She recently moved to Toronto and will be working in the Toronto School Board this upcoming school year. Andrea is excited to build new connections and meet new people within her community. In her teaching she is known to have a positive, high-energy personality and makes learning fun.

Before teaching, Andrea spent over 10 years coaching gymnastics and cheerleading. She has always enjoyed working in leadership roles and helping kids reach their goals. In addition to her love and passion for teaching, Andrea enjoys spending time outdoors and in nature. She loves activities like hiking, skiing, and camping. When indoors, you can find her trying out a new recipe in the kitchen or binge watching the latest Netflix series.

Andrea has a great passion for teaching and has worked as a full-time teacher for 27 years with the Toronto District School Board. She has her primary, junior and intermediate qualifications but she has taught Grade 9 as well. She has taught all subjects (with French as the exception) and learning skills. She has a specialist in Special Education and has spent the majority of her career in this area. She currently teaches in a Grade 6 Gifted Core Program in North York. Andrea has many interests outside of teaching that include: paper crafting, arts & crafts, reading, sailing, swimming and spending time with family and friends.

Andrew Plessas is an OCT Certified Teacher who graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology from York University and a Bachelor of Education from UOIT in Intermediate and Senior levels. He later took Additional Qualification courses in Primary and Junior Education, allowing him to teach students of all grade levels. He is a passionate TDSB High School Teacher with a specialist in Biology and is currently teaching Science at Leaside High School. For over 15 years he has dedicated his time to working with youth, in camps, tutoring, volunteering in schools and teaching in private schools and with TDSB. He has worked with a diverse set of students who were behavioural, ESL and special needs students, who were autistic, nonverbal, and had ADHD, as well as Down syndrome, and has developed a keen ability to identify students strengths and weaknesses and work with their unique needs in order to create an individualized plan to help them succeed. He believes that with dedication and the right support all students can succeed.

Angie has a double honours degree in English and Child and Youth Studies with a minor in Psychology. She has 8 years of experience working in a classroom assisting and teaching for various school across Ontario boards including the TDSB.

Anna graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Science in Honours Kinesiology. She has since completed her Bachelors of Education at Lakehead University specializing in Junior/Intermediate with Math and Science as her teachable. Throughout high school she backpacked South East Asia, Australia, and New Zealand, as well as participated in a three-month exchange in France. She has recently returned from three months in South and Central America.

Anna has worked with children through a variety of different experiences both in and out of the classroom. She has worked at a Summer Camp for over 5 years and has experience helping organize active afterschool programs. Anna spent the summer of 2015 doing private tutoring for a family who lives in Toronto but vacations in Turkey. There, she worked daily with their two boys. Anna has taught English, Math and Science in grades 6-10, but has also worked with students as young as grade 3. From all of her experiences she has developed a passion for working with children, allowing them to reach their goals, and allowing her students find out the “why and how” on their own through inquiry based and hands on learning.

Anna often works with Prep Academy as an organizational coach. In this role she guides students with organizational skills such as calendar planning and teacher-student communication as well as note taking and test-preparation skills.

In her spare time Anna enjoys running, playing soccer, ultimate Frisbee, and continuing to travel around the world.

Anna is currently in her second year of the master of teaching degree at OISE in the intermediate/senior division. She has completed her teacher’s college practicums in grade 10 science and grade 12 biology classrooms where she used differentiated instruction and culturally responsive pedagogy to engage a wide range of students. She completed her undergraduate degree at McMaster University where she earned an honours bachelor of science degree in biology. Anna has tutored students from elementary to high school in a range of math and science courses. In her spare time she enjoys running, playing soccer, and walking her dog Rufus.

Anna is a passionate teacher-candidate currently pursuing a Masters of Arts in Child Study and Education degree at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto. She has over five years of experience working directly with children of varying ages in a variety of learning settings including elementary classrooms, after-school programs, and summer camps with a mathematics and literacy focus. During her most recent practicum experience in a fourth-grade classroom, Anna facilitated an inclusive and engaging learning environment, tailoring instruction to best suit the unique needs and ability levels of every student. Whether working one-on-one with students, leading small group activities, or delivering whole-class lessons, Anna always ensures that each student receives personalized attention and support. In her tutoring sessions, Anna is dedicated to helping students build confidence in their learning journey and feel capable of reaching their full academic potential. In her spare time, she enjoys reading books, painting, and going on nature walks.

April is an internationally educated and trained teacher with 15 years of in-school experience. She comes to Canada with a shiny new BA in Education and OCT certificate after 14 years living and teaching in Japan. In her spare time, April is a professional magician, enjoys cooking, is a massive professional wrestling fan, and a general all purpose nerd.

Arden graduated summa cum laude from Yale University with a Bachelor’s in Classics (Latin). A member of Phi Beta Kappa, she was awarded the George A. Schrader Humanities prize at graduation for her contribution to the cultural life of the college. Since then, she has worked extensively as a tutor, mentor, and classroom teacher, helping students reach their goals in fields as varied as SAT prep, English prose style, French literature, musical composition, and mathematics.

Arden scored 2340 on the SAT, achieving a perfect score in Critical Reading and reaching the 98th percentile in Math. She received perfect scores on all three of her SAT IIs: Literature, French, and Molecular Biology. Her insights into the test are supported by her experience creating instructional and practice material for both the SAT and SAT II Literature Subject Test.

Empathetic, friendly, and enthusiastic, Arden has an infectious passion for learning. She is fluent in French, has translated a novel from German, and studied Ancient Greek along with Latin at Yale. Outside the classroom, her interests include songwriting, classical music, game design, philosophy, and gender.

Ariana is an educator with over a decade of experience teaching academic and practical skills to students at a junior/intermediate level and 5+ years working with students at a secondary school level. With an Honours Degree in French Studies and Political Science, she is passionate about coaching students through their academic journey using tools for organization, writing, reading and speech. She is currently finishing her Bachelor’s degree in Education (Teacher’s College) with a 4.0 G.P.A, specializing in teaching Math and Language studies. She is fluent in 4 languages and is passionate about helping students communicate effectively and eloquently for essays and oral presentations as she believes proper use of language (including mathematical language) can help students reach their full potential, becoming more confident academically and socially. During her free time, Ariana loves yoga, running and weightlifting, and still makes time to read 100 books a year to feed her passionate for literature!

Ariana has a degree in biochemistry from the University of Toronto.

She teaches grades 9-12 general science, and has teaching qualifications in intermediate mathematics, senior chemistry, senior biology, and 9-12 families studies.

Ariana’s first experience tutoring students was in 12th grade for her high school’s peer tutoring program. This experience was the reason she decided to become an educator.

Arthur is a Teacher Candidate at York University’s Faculty of Education with History and Instrumental Music as his specializations. At the University of Toronto he completed both a Bachelor of Arts with History and Anthropology as his majors, as well as a Bachelor of Music majoring in Music Education.

Arthur has been tutoring in various subjects ranging from History to Music to Essay Writing for over 6 years now and has also shared his love of learning and teaching with youth of all ages as a summer camp counselor. He is also a lifelong learner, completing courses in TEFL certification, as well as courses to teach CELPIP and IELTS specific test preparation.

Arthur believes in building strong relationships with students in order to support them to do their best. This means getting to know a student both as learner to develop the best learning strategies for them, but also as a person to help them enjoy and feel excited about the learning process.

Outside of work you can usually find Arthur going on a hike, learning a new instrument, studying Korean, or just hanging out with his two cats Beanie and Taavi.

Aubreyana is currently in her final year pursuing her Master of Teaching at the University of Toronto. With a rich history of 15 years working with children, Aubreyana is passionate about fostering their growth and supporting them in their educational journeys. Her educational background includes an Honours Bachelor of Applied Science in Early Childhood Studies from the University of Guelph, providing her with a solid foundation in Early Childhood Education (ECE). Aubreyana’s experience spans a diverse range of learning abilities, beginning with her work in an Early Intervention Program and progressing to her role as a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE). Currently aspiring to become a Primary/Junior teacher, Aubreyana’s dedication to working with children extends beyond the classroom. Her commitment is evident through her volunteer work at the Hospital for Sick Children and with Behaviour Matters, a mental health program. Aubreyana’s teaching philosophy revolves around creating conceptual lessons, establishing strong rapport with learners, and adapting teaching methods to meet the unique needs of each student. A., M.A., and PhD candidate, is a former classroom teacher and special education teacher with experience ranging from kindergarten to high school; Associate Teacher at the University of Toronto’s Ontario Institute for Studies in Education; and Adjunct Professor and Instructor for undergraduate courses as at both private and public universities in the United States. Barbara has been active in presenting workshops both locally and internationally and writing for educational journals. Barbara has taught all subjects in the primary and junior divisions, and English and Social Studies at the intermediate and secondary levels of education. With a teaching background in regular, contained, gifted and special education programs, Barbara integrates curricula to provide an enriching, inquiry-based learning program for students. She is committed to providing learning activities that addresses different student needs. As an experienced educator with more than 25 years of international teaching, Barbara is particularly focused on the nature and needs of twice-exceptional learners (those with dual exceptionalities such as learning disability + giftedness and autism + giftedness). Barbara volunteers as a Teacher Mentor for new teachers to the profession and she volunteers her expertise to special and gifted education parent advocacy organizations. Benjamin is a second year university law student with a cumulative 9.0 CGPA. He has over 7 years of tutoring and teaching experience in English, French, History and Math. His patient and calculated approach to teaching enables him to connect with his students and ensure success. A rudimentary example of his approach to studying includes reviewing the class material and rephrasing/reconceptualizing the material which the student finds most difficult to digest. The follow-up technique that proves successful time and time again is the calculated use of practice exams. Recreating the near-exact conditions in an exam setting enables the student to become accustomed to the stress of that environment and use it to sharpen their answers against the clock. Importantly, Benjamin’s tutoring goals are four-fold.

1. Ensuring that the student understands the course material completely and can reproduce their understandings in any exam format with excellence.

2. Full transparency with parents/guardians about student’s progress.

3. Giving students all the tools to study and complete exams and sharpening those tools to the point where their execution is flawless, and his assistance is no longer required.

Boris G. combines industrial work as a quantitative data analyst, with part-time statistics teaching. He has a Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Toronto, an MS in Statistics from the University of Western Ontario, an MA in Economics from Simon Fraser University, and a BBA in Finance (minor in math) from Simon Fraser University. He continues his research in time series and prepares for the first level of the Financial Risk Management exam.

Brenda T. is a dedicated educator with a strong academic foundation and extensive hands-on experience in the Primary/Junior division. She holds an Honours Bachelor’s degree in Children, Childhood, and Youth and is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Education at York University. With over two years of experience as an Early Childhood Assistant, working with students ranging from Preschool to Grade 6, Brenda has gained a deep understanding of pedagogy and student development. Her commitment to education goes beyond the classroom, as she volunteers at the Toronto Public Library, serving as a Leading-to-Reading Leader, providing individualized support to students in reading, writing, and mathematics. Brenda has also volunteered with the Toronto District School Board in various Elementary schools as a classroom assistant. Notably, Brenda brings valuable experience in working with children with special needs and learning disabilities, where her patient and inclusive approach has significantly contributed to their growth and development. Her everyday work resonates with dedication, passion, and genuine enthusiasm for teaching.

Brianna is an experienced tutor in mathematics with a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Western University. She majored in Financial Modelling which greatly enhanced her knowledge in mathematics, computer science, and finance.

Outside of school, Brianna has worked as a high school math and English teacher/tutor at Oxford Learning. She has also worked as a swim instructor and as a camp counsellor for many years.

In her free time she loves to cook, workout, play board games with her family, and travel!

Caitlin is a current PhD student at the University of Toronto. She is studying Molecular Genetics, and her thesis work is focused on exploring the relationship between cancer and stem cells. Before starting her graduate studies, Caitlin completed her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of British Columbia, majoring in Biology. Alongside her academic pursuits, she has actively mentored students through the Let’s Talk Science Foundation and UBC’s Women in STEM organization.

Caitlin specializes in teaching Secondary School Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Math. She also teaches Biology at the university level. Her hands-on experience in cancer and stem cell research gives her practical insights to share with her students.

Caleb holds an Honours Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto, with majors in Biology and Environmental Science. He also possesses an Educational Support certificate from Sheridan College, equipping him with the skills to effectively assist students across diverse levels and learning challenges.

Caleb’s expertise spans the sciences, mathematics, and multiple languages, including Spanish. His ability to teach Spanish adds a valuable dimension to his skill set, allowing him to connect with students seeking to enhance their language proficiency. His patient, empathetic, and relatable approach to teaching ensures students feel supported and motivated in their learning journey.

With extensive experience as both a tutor and an instructor, Caleb has worked in various settings, including one-on-one, group, in-person, and virtual formats. His most recent role involved delivering ESL courses alongside Science and Math instruction to international students, demonstrating his versatility and cultural adaptability. Furthermore, Caleb is highly proficient in online teaching, utilizing digital platforms to create engaging and effective learning experiences.

Callie Bowman has a Masters of Teaching from the University of Toronto. She is a qualified OCT teacher and has been working at a Toronto independent school for over 2 years, teaching mostly middle school math and science. Before becoming a teacher, Callie worked many different jobs including as a bird researcher, motivational speaker, and youth baseball coach. While not working with children and youth, she enjoys playing sports including hockey, volleyball, and rugby, making pancakes, and spending time with her partner and dog, Bobby.

Camilia is a professional and passionate tutor with over 6 years of experience teaching and tutoring. She has a Bachelor’s of Science degree in biology, and is pursing her Doctoral degree in Naturopathic Medicine. Camilia is a certified ESL instructor, and has worked with students at a variety of grade and ability levels. Camilia loves teaching, learning, art, music, cooking and travelling. On her free time she takes photographs and runs outside 🙂

Carlee is currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Education program after earning an Honours Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Studies. Carlee has over 4 years experience as an Early Childhood Educator prior to continuing her education and working towards becoming a teacher. During that time she was also an Educational Assistant where she enjoyed helping students, especially in math. Through those experiences, Carlee has learned how to assist students in their learning to ultimately build their confidence in their own learning. Carlee is excited to meet and teach all students. Carlee is specialized in Primary and Junior grades (kindergarten to grade 6).

Carmen has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Studies with a Minor in French from Toronto Metropolitan University and a Master of Teaching degree from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education of the University of Toronto. After graduating, she went back to do her additional qualifications in French as a Second Language Part 1, Intermediate French, and Senior Social Sciences.

She has always had a passion for French and teaching children. She has experience working with students as a private French tutor. Carmen has helped students improve in their French reading, writing, and oral communication. She believes that every student can achieve success and strongly understands the importance of fostering a growth mindset in all learners. She is currently teaching Grade 5/6 French Immersion for the Toronto District School Board.

Carol is a teacher with a deep passion for teaching and an even deeper desire to see children learn and love to leam. She has a Bachelor of Education and Honors English/History Degree, and is an English Specialist. Carol is qualified to teach in the levels of Primary, Junior and Intermediate. Her over 3 decades as an educator has allowed her to develop skills as a teacher of English, Social Studies, Math and Science. Carol has been a tutor for 15 years. It is a delight for Carol to see young minds come alive to English or Math concepts, whether they be 4 or 19! Carol is a native born to Toronto, and has 3 daughters and 3 cats. She enjoys winter sports, travel, classic literature as hobbies.

Carol Waters is a retired elementary school teacher with thirty years experience. She taught kindergarten to grade three during her career, and her qualifications include primary specialist and special education. A Lead Literacy teacher for seven years, she coordinated various workshops for colleagues centred on language development for primary students. She also taught the well-regarded Kindergarten Language Program (KLP) for ten years, also known as the KELLI Program, which focuses on enhancing oral communication and early literacy skills.

Carol has a Bachelor of Arts and Education degree as well as a diploma for Developmental Service worker. She coached volleyball, track and field, the Junior W5H teams and the Eco club.
Carol’s love of reading and literature extends to volunteering to read with students at her former school, and participating in an adult book club. She greatly enjoys outdoor activities, particularly exploring hiking trails throughout the province.

Cath is qualified in Intermediate/Senior French, Intermediate Math, Health & Physical Education and Guidance. She has 20+ years of experience teaching in the Toronto District School Board. Cath taught for 15 years at Lawrence Park, which is a French Immersion school. She is known for helping students find their passion for learning and caring for their overall well-being. Cath focuses on making her tutoring sessions engaging and positive experiences so that they can achieve their best. Her own children, Oliver and Sarah are twins and are in high school and she understands what challenges youth face today. In my free time, she enjoys walking my dog, cycling, travelling, reading and playing games with her family.

Christina is currently completing an Honours Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Toronto. Claire is an Ontario Certified Teacher who has been working with Prep Academy since March of 2020. She is an experienced teacher and tutor, with qualifications to teach French Immersion and every division. Her classroom experience includes both elementary and secondary schools, in French Immersion, French core, and secondary English. Claire holds both a Bachelor of Arts in French Literature and a Bachelor of Education. Her two degrees simultaneously combine her passions for education and languages. In her spare time, she enjoys travelling, cooking, and spending time with friends and family.

Colleen has a Masters of Teaching in general sciences and biology for Intermediate/Senior grades from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. She also holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree specializing in biopharmaceuticals. Colleen has developed and presented both grade 9 and 10 general science courses that were adapted for her students. She works tirelessly to create content that highlights the strength in her students while supporting the development of their needs. Colleen has always found meaningful volunteer opportunities in education, she has traveled to several remote Indigenous communities to present hands-on science experiments. She is passionate about merging content and experiences together to make learning fun. Colleen has worked in a northern Quebec community as their senior science teachers for two years. During this time, she has returned to school to gain the Intermediate Math qualification.

Courtney is an Ontario Certified Teacher, holding a Bachelor of Education and a BA in English and History, both from Queen’s University. Courtney is qualified to teach English and History at the Intermediate and Senior grade levels. She also has experience teaching Primary and Junior grade levels in her teachable subjects, as well as in mathematics.

Courtney has had a variety of classroom experiences during her time in the Queen’s University’s Concurrent Education program. In addition to her traditional English and History placements, Courtney has experience in at-risk programs, ESL classrooms, and in the Ontario Literacy Course. These experiences have led Courtney to develop a teaching philosophy based around inclusive and differentiated learning. Additionally, Courtney is an advocate for positive learning spaces and for teaching critical thinking skills in order to facilitate strong communities of learners in today’s schools.

Courtney is very passionate about learning opportunities outside the classroom. She has over five years of experience in Elementary Outdoor Education, Intermediate/Senior Leadership Programs, and Outdoor Co-Operative Learning programs. She believes that learning that takes place outside the classroom can further any student’s understanding of material, and, more importantly, teaches students to work together and support one another.

When Courtney isn’t working in educational programs, she could be found rock climbing, attending Broadway (or Mirvish) shows, or reading the latest book she bought.

As an Ontario Certified Teacher, Crystal is qualified to teach Grade 7-12 Mathematics and Computer Science. She obtained her Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo, specializing in the Math/Teaching program and complementing it with a computing minor. Subsequently, Crystal earned her Bachelor of Education from York University.

Damien has a Combined Honours degree in Biomechanics and Physiology, as well as an Education degree. Damien is a full-time grade 8 teacher with the Toronto district school board.  He is qualified to teach all subjects at the grade 6, 7 and 8 level as well as the high school sciences. As an athlete himself he values a life and work balance. He spends most of his down time Coaching Rugby (Provincially, Club & School Levels), Rock Climbing, Camping, Canoeing and intentionally getting lost in the woods looking for adventure with his dog and loved ones.

Dang is a senior PhD student in Medical Biophysics at University of Toronto doing research in the field of programmed cell death. In 2016, he graduated with an Honor Bachelor of Science degree from University of Toronto with a cumulative GPA of 3.94 out of 4, completing a specialist program in Cell and Molecular Biology, a major program in Molecular Genetics and Microbiology, and a minor program in Immunology. He has three years of in person teaching experience in Biology and Mathematics for student from grade 9 to 12 and has helped many Ontario high school students to get into their choice of school/programs. In his spare time, he likes to read non-fiction books, play chess, and learn German.

Danica studied Bachelor’s in Business Administration, majoring in finance, and is currently completing her diploma in International Business. She has over a decade of experience working with children by being a volunteer teacher within her local community since she was in high school. Presently, she serves as a peer tutor at Centennial College, specializing in math courses within the Business department, and as a part-time instructor at an after-school learning center, tutoring children from grades one to eight.

Beyond her academic endeavors, Danica finds joy in painting pet portraits and scenic landscapes, staying active with badminton, and embracing the challenge of learning new languages.

Her patient and understanding nature, combined with her passion for education, is evident in her teaching approach. She is committed to empowering students and instilling a love for lifelong learning.

Daniel H. is a current BCL/JD candidate at the McGill Faculty of Law with a Master of Arts in Political Science from McGill University and a Bachelor of Arts Honours in Political Studies from Queen’s University. Specializing in humanities and the social sciences, Daniel brings a robust academic background to his tutoring endeavours where he has supported students in various social science disciplines such as law, political science, philosophy, sociology, history, and anthropology. His pedagogical approach involves fostering critical thinking and a deep understanding of complex concepts. Daniel’s scholarly expertise and passion for learning informs his enthusiasm for teaching, helping students develop their own interests and find their academic voice.

Danielle received her Bachelor of Arts from Western University with a double major in English and Media, Information, and Technoculture (MIT). After graduating in 2015, she earned her TEFL certification and moved to Seoul, South Korea to work as an English teacher. During her time spent in Korea, Danielle realized her passion for education and decided to move back to Canada to further her career. She completed her Bachelor of Education at York University in 2020 at the Junior/Intermediate level, with a specialization in English and Mathematics and additional qualifications in Special Education. Danielle has been a tutor with Prep Academy for over three years and has worked with students from grades 1-8 in all subjects, as well as grade 9-12 in English and the humanities. In addition, Danielle is currently working as a supply teacher with the TDSB and has taught at various independent schools throughout Toronto. Her focus is to act as a positive and motivating leader to instil self-confidence in her students. She hopes to create a fun and comfortable learning environment, tailored to the needs of each individual student. Apart from education, Danielle enjoys playing soccer, attending concerts, and traveling. Last year, she stepped into her 32nd country, Iceland! She hopes to travel to 50 countries before age 50. With a Master of International Education (School Leadership) David has experience as Vice-Principal at TFS, Head of Enrichment at Bishop’s College School and Head of Student Support at West Island College, always believing that leadership is a service industry.

David is dedicated to supporting kids who need a hand. He knows how to inspire students, and establish effective programming that fosters student involvement and parental confidence.

David is a high school teacher, and has been in the classroom permanently since 2019. In this time, he has taught both junior and senior level math and physics classes. He graduated from Queen’s university with a degree in physics in 2015. From there, he decided to pursue a career in teaching and went on to complete a Masters of Teaching from U of T in April of 2017. He has spent time teaching in both Toronto and Seoul, South Korea. David is passionate about learning new math and science concepts, and is excited about helping others succeed and work towards their educational goals. He believes that all students are capable of personal success if they are given the right opportunities and have a strong work ethic. In his spare time, David loves to play sports, go camping, watch movies, and travel!

Deanna is an Ontario College of Teachers certified biology and history teacher at the intermediate and senior levels. In the near future, she hopes to gain additional qualifications in math and social science instruction, as well. In addition to holding a Master of Teaching (MT) degree from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto, Deanna has also obtained an MSc in biology and an Honours BA in humanities from York University. For her academic achievements in these areas, she has earned several scholarships and awards, including the Ontario Graduate Scholarship, which she was the recipient of for two successive years.

Though she is an accomplished academic, teaching is Deanna’s true calling. Altogether, she has over 6 years of experience working and volunteering in education-related contexts with students of all ages and academic levels. In particular, she has obtained extensive volunteer experience with the national charitable organization, Let’s Talk Science, as well as York University’s Bethune College Junior Fellow Program, and U of T’s Global Ideas Institute. In addition to working as a teaching assistant for several undergraduate science courses at York University, Deanna has also acted as a course instructor for a variety of educational summer programs, including York University’s Helix Summer Science Institute and the University of Toronto Schools’ Bright Lights in the Lab summer camp. Deanna has obtained important experience teaching science, biology, and history in a number of Toronto Schools, as well, including North Toronto, Harbord, Riverdale, and W eston Collegiate Institutes.

When she is not busy teaching, Deanna enjoys playing video games, discussing politics, gardening, and hanging out with her cat, Thomas.

Declan (Dex) is a passionate tutor with an Honours Bachelor of Science in Math and Physics. He developed a love of teaching as a calculus Teaching Assistant at the University of Toronto, where he was hired after only 2 years of study. Inspired by the Feynman method of teaching, Dex believes that even advanced mathematical concepts can be broken down into simple parts and explained clearly. After graduation he expanded into tutoring Grades 2-12 Math, working privately and in tutoring centers, and occasionally teaching Physics or Programming. He currently works as a freelance Web Developer building internet applications and websites. In his spare time, he enjoys playing guitar and crafting intricate origami. Dex has dedicated his time to educating and mentoring students for over 6 years and has worked with hundreds of students from ages 9 to 19. He understands that every learner is unique and is able to adapt his teaching style to fit individual needs and goals.

Deja has over five years of experience tutoring students of all abilities from grades one to eight. She specializes in teaching English and math at a primary/junior level. Deja is currently an ECE student at Seneca college. After graduation, Deja plans to continue on to completing teachers’ college and a master’s degree in education. Deja has worked at Early On daycare centre where she would help children develop their learning skills. She has also worked in after-school programs where she assisted students with homework and understanding concepts. Deja has taught English to primary students in Thailand. During her time working abroad, Deja constructed different activities and individual learning plans for students to help develop their confidence in speaking English. She loves to combine her love of travel with her passion for teaching.

Deja is passionate about helping her students grow academically. She believes all students are capable of success and uses different strategies to ensure that students can confidently understand their work.

Being able to speak English, French, Cantonese and Mandarin Chinese, language has played a major role in Dexter’s personal and professional life. He received his bilingual diploma from the Toronto French School. He graduated from York University with a BFA, Visual Arts,and a minor in East Asian Studies. After spending two years in Beijing, China, to continue learning Mandarin, he returned to York University to pursue his Ontario teaching certification. Since 2015, he has been working in the York Region District School Board, primarily as a Core French teacher for grades 4-8. A big part of his teaching method is highlighting the similarities between various related languages, particularly English and French, and linking them to the greater context of world history. Having been a student of language for many years, Dexter understands that language learning is a long process that requires frequent practice, and that each learns at their own pace. One of the most important aspects is the development of confidence, and it is better for young learners to learn and practice language in a safe environment. His continuing goal is to help students develop transferable language learning skills and strategies, and to help foster overall language and cultural appreciation. It has brought him great pride and joy when parents approach him to say that, because of him, their child enjoys French class more than before. Beyond language, world history, and culture, Dexter’s principal interests and hobbies include the practice of martial arts, such as Wing Chun Kungfu and Japanese Jiu-jitsu, watching anime, television and film, cosplay, video gaming, miniature painting, and Dungeons & Dragons.

Diana is an Ontario certified teacher who has had a successful career spanning over 25 years (since 1997) in education with the Toronto Board. She began her career in teaching as a Deaf-blind Facilitator, then acquiring her degree in education with a specialist in visual arts from York University in 2005.

Diana prides herself as a lifelong learner and encourages her students to be the same. She has a patient and supportive approach to teaching. Her special education background coupled with visual arts allows her to support and provide varying and unique ways to support all types of learners, in order to help them meet their full potential.

Diana is passionate about the arts, animals and the environment. When she is not teaching she can be found creating art, tending to her ample collection of plants, hiking, and spending time with close friends and family.

Diane has an Advanced Early Childhood Education Certificate and has been working with children both in early learning environments as well as child care programs for over 30 years. Diane’s experience as a manager and child care provider have given her a tremendous amount of experience. Her creativity and supportive learning environments ignite an excitement and joy of learning.

Divya recently graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Science in Geoscience, GIS, and Psychology. She completed a teaching assistant position at the University of Toronto in the Earth History, Mineralogy, and Petrology. During the summer months, Divya has worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Toronto, providing students as well as professors assistance with creating visuals, simplifying articles, editing scientific articles. She has an open perspective, and is adaptive in her methods of solving problems. She is currently working towards expanding her technical skill set by participating in a data science program.She enjoys collecting minerals, 3D printing, reading, and swimming. Along with an affinity for science, Divya has a passion for math, taking electives in calculus, statistics, and linear algebra. She has also participated in several of the University of Waterloo Mathematical Competitions.

Dora is a passionate and enthusiastic educator that strives to get students interested in what they are learning. She is currently completing a Master of Teaching degree from the University of Toronto through the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. In addition, she earned her Honours Bachelors of Arts in Public Policy and Urban Planning from the University of Toronto. Upon completing her Masters, Dora will be licensed to teach both primary and junior levels for English, Mathematics, Social Studies, Language Arts and Reading.

Dora has previously worked with the TDSB in the Power Your Future program as a math assistant and tutor. The program provided incoming and current high school students a significant “leg-up” in their classes by engaging them in intensive curricular practice in all subject areas—making Dora is very familiar with the Ontario Curriculum expectations. She has also been engaged in community education partnerships through the University of Toronto, including the MYRA project, where she worked with high school students to engage them in community research and improve their math, English, geography and social science knowledge.

Currently, Dora has shifted her practice to teaching younger students. Her diverse educational background has strengthened her academic foundations and encouraged her to put a strong focus on student achievement and success in her practice. Dusan is a graduate student at the University of Toronto, focusing on bioinformatics research in pediatric sarcoma at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Anatomy and Cell Biology from McGill University. With a strong passion for science education, Dusan has extensive experience in teaching high school math and science and in mentoring undergraduate students. In addition to his academic and tutoring work, he is actively involved in volunteering, including his current role at SickKids. His commitment to both research and education underscores his dedication to fostering positive outcomes for those he works with.

Dylan is a dedicated tutor with a Bachelor’s degree in Computing, specializing in Software Engineering. Edi’s individualized approach encourages students to build confidence and achieve their academic potential. She has a degree in Honours Environmental Studies with Distinction. She excelled throughout her undergrad receiving recognition on the Dean’s Honour Role for each year of University and the Academic All Canadian Award for exceptional Academic Achievement while playing Varsity Lacrosse.

She has experience working as a Lead Outdoor Educator, an instructional assistant for a University Environmental Studies course, Coaching Lacrosse and facilitating English practice as a Tandem Language Partner. This passion for teaching and helping students has led to her current pursuit of a Bachelor of Education Degree at York University with Teachables in Biology and Geography. As part of her degree, Edi volunteers in a resource room helping high school students with all subjects including Math.

Prior to her pursuit of teaching, she utilized her skills in biology and environmental studies while she worked as a research assistant for the Health and Wellbeing Chapter of the 2022 Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Report.

Elena Soda has graduated with Honours from Niagara University and specializes in Primary Junior Education, with additional experience in the intermediate grades. Elena’s greatest passion in life is teaching, and she has experienced great success at school and at university due to amazing and unforgettable teachers. This is the foundation of Elena’s commitment to helping out her students, whatever their abilities may be. Elena is interested in continuing her educational journey and studying a masters degree specializing in teaching elementary students with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Elena has been teaching for more than 9 years in various settings – small and large groups, and teaching within Early Learning Classrooms, Primary Junior Classrooms, and Special Needs Classrooms. Elena looks forward to teaching and learning alongside your children.

Ellie has been with for Prep Academy Tutors since 2015. She completed her Bachelor’s of Education at the University of Ottawa in 2014. Since graduating, Ellie has taken additional qualification courses in special education, mathematics and reading. In 2017 Ellie graduated from the Master’s of Education program with a focus in global education, teaching and learning at the University of Ottawa. Ellie began working with the Toronto District School Board in 2017 where she started working as an occasional teacher and is now a contract teacher in the elementary panel.

Emily has been a full time French Immersion teacher with the York Region District School Board for the last 7.5 years. Emily was born in Montreal and grew up speaking French with her Francophone father and later decided to pursue a career in French teaching. She also attended French Immersion school growing up. Emily has both a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Education degree from Glendon College of York University. She has experience in a variety of grades, ranging from 1 to 6 but has most recently taught grades 2 and 3 French Immersion. Over the course of her career she has taken Additional Qualifications in French As a Second Language as well as Health and Physical Education. Emily takes into account the diverse needs of her learners to ensure an optimal learning experience for her students. She believes in small group work to better engage learners. In her free time she loves to read, ski, cook, travel and spend time with her dog, Charlie.

Emily has a Ph.D. in the Humanities and Social Sciences graduating from the Program in Social and Political Thought at York University. She has been teaching at the university level for over 30 years working closely with students to help them realize their academic potential through interactive and engaging methods of delivery. She has taught at the University of Toronto, Toronto Metropolitan University and Laurentian University.

Emily enjoys in-person tutoring and has experience with online support where necessary. She can work with students on homework assignments, test preparation, and exam review while providing frequent monitoring and feedback to both students and parents. With a B.A. in the performing arts as well as a professional background in film writing and production Emily is able to use creative and experiential teaching strategies in conjunction with technology.

Emma received her honours history degree from Queen’s University this year. She is currently working towards her Master of Teaching degree at University of Toronto. Before this, she gained experience teaching and assisting classrooms in various boards including TDSB. Emma recognizes the importance of providing students with individualized lessons and supports that suit their specific learning goals. One of Emma’s strengths is her ability to meet the child where they are by assessing what they already can do and developing a learning plan from there. Whether its dismantling ‘math anxiety’, fine-tuning reading and writing skills, or completing homework assignments, Emma can help young learners overcome any academic challenge by providing them with the tools they need to succeed.

Beyond learning, Emma enjoys travelling, listening to music, and trying new foods! She also loves doing crafts, piano, and camping.

Emmanuel has a degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics, a PhD in Reproductive Physiology and Toxicology, and a Master’s degree in Education. Before coming to Canada, he worked, for more than 10 years, as a Biology, Biochemistry, and Environmental management teacher for curricular subjects and to prepare students for the international IGCSE and IB Cambridge exams. In Canada he obtained a Diploma in Advanced Biotechnology and worked as a Research Technician at Sunnybrook Hospital, assisting in the development of psychomotor recovery techniques. He is now working as a tutor.

Emmanuel likes to approach his learning methodology through critical thinking, using everyday situations to explain the physicochemical and biological processes that surround us. He encourages students to be proactive and direct participants in their education, by using the information they have and know, as a basis and pillar for their learning process.

In his free time, he likes to play the guitar, play board games and video games with his family, and travel around Ontario.

Filip recently graduated from Toronto Metropolitan University with a Master’s in Digital Media while also completing a Bachelor of Technology degree at the same institution. He has been tutoring at Prep Academy Tutors since 2021 with plans on continuing his studies in Education, as he aspires to become a teacher or a professor in the near future. Being bilingual, he is proficient in French and speaks the language fluently from a young age. In addition, he is a certified swimming instructor and lifeguard, having taught students from ages 6-18 for many years. Being an instructor has given Filip the experience to teach large groups of students as well as one-on-one private lessons. Furthermore, he is very passionate for graphic design and is highly skilled in Adobe programs such as Photoshop and Illustrator. While tutoring, he aims to teach engaging and productive lessons to his students while giving them the proper guidance to remain motivated and successful in school. In his spare time, he enjoys playing soccer and tennis, travelling the world and drawing.

Fiona has a BA in Geography from McGill and a Junior-Intermediate B. Ed from Queen’s. These university qualifications first took her around the world to work at international schools. In South Africa, she taught high school Geography and Economics at a time when democracy was just returning to that nation. In both Switzerland and Laos she found her niche as a grade five and six classroom teacher.

After settling back in Canada to start a family, Fiona used her experience in education to start a Muskoka Preschool and to volunteer as a tutor at Glen Orchard Public School. Still loving travel, Fiona homeschooled her two sons in all subjects from grades one to eight while they explored over 100 countries together. During her children’s high school years at Rosseau Lake College, Fiona held positions of Parent Guild President, Running Coach, Grades Seven and Eight Language Arts Teacher and Board Director. She also created a 50th Anniversary book for the school plus an RLC Yearbook for her younger son’s graduating year.

Fiona believes that learning should be both fun and purposeful. She encourages students to develop organizational skills to allow for creative and confidence-building experiences.

Francesca S. graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree from York University and received her Bachelor of Education degree from York University as well. Francesca’s areas of specialty include the Intermediate/Senior divisions, but she has ample experience teaching in the Primary and Junior divisions as well.

Fully trilingual, Francesca has extensive experience working with students at most grade levels of core French, specifically, Primary to Intermediate.

Gayathri S. is well known for her experience for working with children and her passion for teaching. She has her Bachelor of Arts and her Bachelor of Education to certify her teaching credentials in Ontario. She is a member of the IB World School, where she has taught in private schools, tutoring and educating primary and junior students. She is nurturing and focuses on creating a safe space, a child-centered approach in students acknowledging their learning abilities and accomplishing their educational needs.

George received his undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto in 2009 with a double major in Math and Chemistry, followed by a Bachelor of Education at Tyndale University specializing in Junior, Intermediate, and Senior levels. Hanieh R. Ph.D., is a highly experienced Biology Tutor and researcher with a strong academic background in medical biotechnology. She holds a Ph.D. in Medical Biotechnology from Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences and has extensive experience in teaching, mentoring, and conducting research in molecular biology, genetics, and cell culture.

She possesses a wide range of teaching experience with students from kindergarten to grade 8 in virtual, classroom, and even outdoor settings.

Hannah currently works as an Occasional Teacher with the Simcoe County District School Board and an Outdoor Educator at Evergreen Brick Works in Toronto. Hannah hopes that with her teaching she can foster civic and social responsibility and encourage future stewards of the Earth. Hannah’s passion for learning has even brought her to Windsor Castle, England – working with leaders like Jane Goodall to create programming opportunities for youth.

Harris is an OCT certified teacher working towards a career in data science. Born and raised in Honduras, Harris has a Masters degree in Physics and a Bachelors degree in Mathematics. Harris has two years experience teaching high school in Toronto and a total of 12 years of combined tutoring experience dating back to his Undergraduate years. During Graduate school, Harris taught physics labs to pre-med students and gave lectures in physics to first year physics classes. His experience spans from tutoring math (grades 9-12 and first year university) and physics (grades 11-12, IB and first year university), tutoring grade 10 science, grade 11 computer science, grade 12 data management, and grade 12 calculus from the TDSB curriculum. Given his data science pursuit, he can also be of assistance with beginner’s Python programming language as well. Most computer science courses in high school are moving towards teaching object-oriented programming. Harris is a huge fan of comedy and sports so he uses both of those aspects to connect with students.

Heather graduated from McMaster University with a bachelor of honours commerce. Heather has had a life-long passion for education, and has many years of experience teaching students of all ages and personalities! While at McMaster, Heather was the Head Administrator of the First Year Orientation Program where she discovered her skill as an academic coach. She mentored many first year students, teaching skills such as note-taking and efficient studying. Her enthusiasm and energy are contagious, making her not only an effective teacher, but also a fun one. Her philosophy on teaching is that one does not create greatness in students, one uncovers it. Heather is also a trained SSAT coach, and she enjoys guiding students in preparing for this examination. Heather is trained in the Reading Mastery Program, and she enjoys working with young readers. In her spare time Heather is a ski instructor, with her background in ski racing. When not teaching, you can find Heather out on a cross country run or enjoying a book at home with her cat.

Heidi has a Bachelor of Arts degree (with distinction) in Early Childhoods Studies from Toronto Meteopolitan University and Bachelor of Education degree (with distinction) from York University. After graduating, she went back to York University to do her additional qualifications in Special Education, Intermediate Mathematics, and Senior First Nations, Mètis and Inuit Studies.

She has always had a passion for teaching children and has over 10 years of experience as a private tutor. Heidi has helped students with knowledge gaps in math and has helped students improve their reading levels. She is currently teaching elementary and middle schools in the Toronto District School Board. My name is Hooman Razavi. I graduated from University of Toronto with degree in Biochemistry in 2006 and then finished my B.Ed in 2007 at OISE. Since graduation, I have taught for the last twelve years in schools in Toronto and China and tutored many students from various backgrounds. I enjoy interactions at every level and love to see when my students ask questions, learn something new and share their ideas with me. I truly believe in the idea that success has more to do with hard work than natural depositions and try to cultivate good skills and love of learning in my students.

Howard is an experienced educator having worked in secondary and post-secondary as a tutor, tutorial, and seminar leader. He’s currently finishing his PhD at York University and teaches social science and writing courses at Seneca College. Howard has tutored extensively in a variety of subjects including social science, humanities, business, and research writing. He specializes in helping students set goals and develop strategies to improve their writing and studying skills. With more than 15 years working in education and the private sector, Howard has been able to support students as they develop their academic and professional skills.

After completing a diploma in Liberal Arts at Seneca College, Howard went on to study Anthropology and History at York University, where he also received a Bachelor of Education (Intermediate Senior/Highschool Teaching). He then completed a Master of Arts at Guelph University, specializing in Public Issues Anthropology and Applied Sociology. He has also completed certificates and training in research ethics, teaching with technology, tutor training, as well as extensive training and experience working with students with unique learning needs. Howard also enjoys mentoring students and young professionals as they embark on their transition from school to work.

Iain Bain is a second year teacher candidate at York University in the Junior/Intermediate division, grades 4-10. Born in Ottawa and the eldest of six, he moved to Toronto to complete his undergraduate degree in journalism and economics at Ryerson University. Upon graduation, Iain moved to Toulouse, France to work as a communications specialist in the aerospace sector. It was during this time that he honed his bilingual skill-sets. Returning to Canada, Iain then completed two post graduate certificates in French linguistics at Ryerson University. Working as a personal trainer to fund his education, Iain discovered his affinity for working with children. Over the course of a year, Iain studied the Orton-Gillingham system designed to instruct students with dyslexia. He then continued on to work as a freelance tutor for various subjects utilizing this systematic multi-sensory approach. Iain eventually decided it was time to pursue his Bachelor of Education.

Iain’s teaching philosophy entails developing engaging and interactive lessons that not only deliver the material but also incites curiosity and inquisition on the part of the pupil. Iain has spent his first year placed in a rotary core French classroom where he has designed and implemented inquiry based projects inspiring creative responses to real life scenarios such as cooking, traveling, sustainability and all in French. During his first year at York, Iain provided after school homework help in mathematics, French and English. While French is his primary teachable, Iain had elected to take several mathematics courses given his experience and passion for the subject. Iain’s passion for travel and time spent in France is where his love of the French language originates. He dropped out of the Extended French program in high school after the 10th grade due to a lack of interest. Iain believes that students must grasp a tangible connection to the language in order for them to succeed in the subject. Constructing lessons and adapting assignments in order to inspire genuine interest will result in the desire to learn the grammatical principles of the language. Iain learned to speak French by living it, then pursued formal instruction in order to consolidate the oral skills he had learned. Constructing a real connection with the language is crucial for the student’s success as a future francophone.

Innah has been a registered early childhood educator for the past seven years.  She has experience working with kids in all age groups from infancy to 12 years of age.  Innah has an educational background in early childhood education as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a post-graduate degree in Autism and Behavioural Sciences and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.  Innah has a hard working knowledge of creating, developing, facilitating and evaluating program plans and workshops.  She has been tutoring students aged 3-10 years in a one-on-one capacity since 2018. Innah also had the opportunity of running a Learning Pod for a family in Toronto from October 2020 until January 2021.  The Pod had a mixed age group of students ranging from preschool to kindergarten. While teaching this Pod, Innah used different teaching strategies according to the unique needs of each child. She has the passion, skills and determination to help each child reach their milestones and optimize their full potential.

Irene is an Ontario Certified Teacher at the Intermediate/Senior level and has taught in the Toronto District School Board for over ten years. She graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honours Bachelor of Science and went on to complete her Bachelor of Education at the University of Ottawa. Irene is qualified to teach grade 9/10 Science, grade 11/12 Chemistry and grade 11/12 Biology. She also has experience teaching grades 1-10 Mathematics as well. Outside of teaching, Irene enjoys more active and creative ventures including: Zumba, table tennis, piano, scrapbooking, baking/cake decorating and is currently learning how to salsa and crochet!

Hi there! I’m Jacob. I’ve been a tutor for the last 4 years teaching Math, Physics and Computer Science. As a part of my engineering career, I’ve gotten hands-on experience in these subjects by building flight simulators at CAE. Jacqueline B. is an Ontario Certified Teacher with over 10 years of experience in education, having worked with students ranging from Kindergarten to Grade 8. She currently teaches in a Kindergarten classroom within the York Region District School Board. Jacquie’s teaching and tutoring are guided by the Ontario Elementary School curriculum expectations, ensuring that each lesson is aligned with the province’s educational standards.

Having previously worked as an elementary remedial reading tutor, Jacquie possesses a deep understanding of various reading programs offered across Ontario. Jaedyn is an educator with a strong foundation in academics and mentorship. She recently graduated from York University’s Bachelor of Education program and became an Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) in June of 2024, specializing in the Intermediate and Senior levels. Jaedyn also holds an undergraduate degree in Law and society with a minor in Anthropology from York University.
Outside the classroom, Jaedyn has gained extensive experience working with children, including leadership roles at TCE Camps and the Boys and Girls Club, where she worked with children ages 4 to 13. In these roles, she facilitated engaging programs aimed at fostering growth and development while gaining valuable experience tutoring at the elementary school level. Jaedyn’s own experience as a mentee in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program also gave her valuable insight into the importance of mentorship and guidance.

Jamilyn graduated from Ryerson University with a Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Studies (ECS) and a minor in Sociology. She is currently in her second, and final, year in the Masters of Teaching (MT) program at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) at the University of Toronto in the Primary/Junior division. Both of these programs provided her with a variety of valuable practicum experiences that further reinforced her passion towards teaching. In Grade 5, she began attending Saturday school to learn how to speak, read, and write in Mandarin. She won many verse-speaking competitions and has a high school language certificate for Grade 9 Mandarin. She hopes to travel to China someday to use what she has learned and to further strengthen her language fluency. When she turned sixteen, Jamilyn began teaching swimming. She is currently Red Cross-certified and teaches integrated swim lessons at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital for children with varying abilities. She has also helped lead aquatic programs such as inpatient swims, Snoezelen (sensory therapy), March Break Swim Camp, and the Integrated Education and Therapy program. In addition, she is certified with the Red Cross as a Youth Leader and teaches the Babysitting course.

During her time in the Early Childhood Studies program, Jamilyn completed practicums in two Early Learning Centers, a Grade 1/2 split classroom, and a kindergarten classroom. Jamilyn particularly enjoys supporting students through their early literacy development. When she was younger, she led her younger siblings through the Hooked on Phonics program that focused on letter recognition, reading, and reading comprehension. This passion was revisited during her third year ECS practicum at in the Grade 1/2 split classroom, as she was trained in the “We Will Read” program and worked one-on-one with four Grade 1 students who were below grade-level. Jamilyn designed developmentally appropriate individualized lessons and activities for each of them. At the end of the program, each child read a book to their classmates proudly, and independently.

During her time in the Masters of Teaching program at OISE she completed a practicum experience in a Grade 6 classroom where she focused on Math, Language, Social Studies, and Media Literacy. Her second practicum in the MT program was in Grade 1 where she led all subject areas. Jamilyn learned she has a passion for teaching students about advocacy. During her time in the Grade 6 classroom, she led a Social Studies and media literacy unit on the Rights of a Child. In the Grade 1 classroom, she led a Social Studies unit on advocacy and activism and included the students to a fundraiser held by Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital called “Capes of Kids”. She looks forward to continuing to learn and apply her experiences in her upcoming practicums.

Jan possesses master’s degree in science. He is in his second year of completing his master’s degree in teaching (in the junior and intermediate level) at the University of Toronto (U of T). Jan is currently employed by U of T Scarborough within the Department of Environmental Science as a lecturer. He teaches a masters level course titled Aquatic Ecology and Biomonitoring. For the last 20 years he has worked with students ranging from grades 4 to grade 12 and at the University level. He also works as a coach and as a mentor preparing high school and university students for interviews, helping them with resumes and cover letters, as well as task and time management strategies so that they can be more successful within their chosen career paths. He enjoys fishing, camping, playing soccer and kick boxing

Jasmine is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership and Policy at the University of Toronto. In June 2024, she graduated from the University of Calgary with distinction, earning a Bachelor of Education specializing in Elementary Social Studies, and a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Communication and Culture with a minor in Psychology.

She brings a diverse background to her tutoring practice. Jasmine has previously worked as a Child Development Specialist, Developmental Aide, and full-time Homeschool Tutor. These roles allowed her to support students with ADHD, ODD, autism, learning disabilities, and giftedness. Jason graduated from his Teaching degree at the Ontario Institute for Education and has completed research projects pertaining to memory retention and the impact of the pandemic on student mental health. As such, Jason incorporates stress-reducing activities throughout his tutoring sessions. While completing research during his Masters of science at Queen’s University, Jason learned techniques that increase students’ long-term memory retention of subject material (such as anatomy and biology concepts), a technique that he applies to his tutoring sessions. Jason has extensive curriculum knowledge in the sciences and excels while working with students in an individual capacity. Having completed the French Immersion program at Lawrence Park CI, Jen enjoys working with both French and English subjects. Jen has gathered a wide range of experience working with children with special needs in both classroom and recreational environments, including Bloorview School Authority. Additionally, Jen is trained on the Remedial Programs of Direct Instruction Reading Mastery and The Wilson Reading Program and she enjoys working through these programs with struggling readers and writers. Jenifer is an OCT certified teacher who graduated with honours from the University of Waterloo in the mathematics teaching option program along with a BEd from Queen’s University. She taught math and was involved in the residential program at an independent school in the GTA for two years before moving to England to teach for three years. Abroad, she taught math and science at a secondary school in Essex, England. For the past 4 years she has returned to the independent school system in the GTA  and has been teaching high school math.

In her teaching, she believes that building relationships is the key to success. Spending time to get to know her students is an important part of the process; building trust allows for a safe learning space to be created and students will be able to ask questions and not be afraid to make mistakes. The learning process can be messy but she loves to dive in with her students to support them in paving their own way on their learning journey and providing them with tools to help them reach their goals.

Outside of teaching she is an avid runner, sometimes having to brave the extreme heat and cold to get her kilometres in. The running and exercising helps her to balance her other pass-time of baking. In the years aboard, Jenifer has fallen in love with travelling and exploring all the wonders of the world. Besides doing the usual sightseeing in the major cities, she enjoys taking a few extra days to immerse herself in the culture and live like a local in smaller towns. She is hoping to be able to get back to seeing the world soon!

Jennifer has been teaching for the Toronto District School Board for 20 years. She has also been tutoring students for 15 years in the Toronto area. Jennifer graduated from the University of Western Ontario with her Bachelors of Education.

Jenny is a professional teacher with more than five years of experience educating in private schools around the world. After receiving her Honours Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Philosophy from the University of Toronto, Jenny’s passion for travel took her overseas, where she began her teaching career. Having taught at the elementary level at SABIS International School, an accredited international private school, for two years, her dedication to her students’ achievements inspired her to take on the additional roles of University Counselor and English Department coordinator. Jesse Abbott is a PhD Candidate in Canadian History at the University of Waterloo. He holds a BA (Honours) and MA from Brock University, where he graduated at the top of his class. Jesse is an experienced educator with over 7 years teaching experience at the post-secondary and high school level. He has assisted with a variety of courses and worked with students at a wide range of skill levels, both in small groups, and one-on-one. Jesse knows what teachers want to see!

Jo-Anne Celine is French Canadian, originating from Western Canada where she attended a French Academy in her youth. She has taught French Immersion for over 20 years with the Toronto District School Board, focusing on the primary years. She brings several years experience in teaching FRENCH IMMERSION. She was instrumental in helping set up a Grade 1 French Immersion Program for the York Regional School Board and has been a chair teacher, supporting administrators and organizing extra curricular activities. She earned her B.A.( Specialized Honours in Psychology-member of Dean’s Honour Roll) in 1980. Upon graduation she became a Sales Representative and thereafter, Bilingual National Sales Manager for the Canadian Distributor of Fieldcrest towels and linens. Returning to school she pursued her Bachelor of Education at the University of Toronto ( Member of Dean’s Honour Roll) in 1992. She is certified by the Ontario College of Teachers to teach both primary and Junior grades levels. Jo-Anne has additional qualifications in French, a Reading Specialist and math. Jo-Anne recently retired from full time teaching with the T.D.S.B in 2016. She is currently an occasional teacher with the Toronto District School Board. She has had a very successful teaching career and has a strong dedication to ensuring her students are successful.
Jo-Anne has been a Bilingual Corporate Trainer for Canon Canada where she trained Sales Representatives from various Canon Dealers across Canada. Jo-Anne is dedicated, patient and enjoys working rirh children and adults. Her passions are cooking, hosting dinner parties and travel.

Joanna is an experienced French tutor and has been teaching this beautiful, international language for 7 years– and counting! She has been learning French for most of her life, from taking Extended French and AP French throughout school, to continuing her learning at York University’s Glendon College in Translation Studies. Moliere’s language also lead her to spending two years as an English teacher in France, instilling a love of language-learning in students aged 4-15. She is currently completing her Master of Teaching at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at U of T and has her French teaching qualifications for Primary-Junior classrooms. Joanna believes in helping everyone find their own way of learning and she is there to guide anyone to find their path. Joanne holds an M.S.Ed. in Foreign Language Acquisition from the University of Kansas and an MBA from the University of Western Ontario. She is certified to teach general subjects through Grade 8 and English and French through Grade 12. Joanne transitioned to education 19 years ago after a career in tech sales and marketing, discovering her passion for teaching while tutoring at Ivey Business School. She received an award in her first year of teaching for her work with special needs students, which inspired her to pursue further education. Joanne has since taught ESL in North Carolina and returned to Toronto in 2012. She is a warm, patient teacher with high expectations, dedicated to helping students reach their full potential.

Johanna is thrilled to be joining the Prep Academy Tutors team. With over 20 years of teaching experience, she brings a strong background in French language and literature education. She began teaching French at the elementary level before starting to teach courses at the University of Toronto (where she completed her M.A. and Ph.D. in French literature), at Mount Allison University, and at York University.

She also led workshops focused on using technology to motivate and engage students, particularly in language learning.

John is an English teacher with a passion for literature and writing. John studied at the Legion of Christ College in Cheshire, CT, where he was the valedictorian of his graduating class. John’s teaching experience is diverse, including a role as a fifth-grade religion teacher at St. Anthony’s Parish in Prospect, CT. During his years in Connecticut, he tutored international students in English, Art history, Biology, Geometry, and ancient languages such as Koine Greek and Latin.

Currently, John teaches high school English literature and Creative Writing at Mary Mother of God School in Toronto. John brings a wide variety of practical experience to his teaching as well. He has contributed a number of literary articles to various publications and also worked as a journalist for The Catholic Register. John combines his experience and education to help his students get excited about writing, literature math, science and art. John’s teaching style is marked by joy and energy, and he seeks to help his students develop their interests along with a love for their studies. He is fluent in Spanish, which complements his academic interests and teaching.

Jordan is a Toronto-based educator who specializes in helping students with essay writing, from the earliest stages of outlining to polishing and proofreading. He has six years of experience as a university instructor, teaching courses as varied as research and writing methods, film and TV history, and business writing. A recent Ph.D. graduate of English (media and cinema studies focus) from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Jordan’s academic research focuses on cultural representations of Jewish identity. As a tutor, Jordan has collaborated with and learned from middle-school, high-school, and college/university students. Joshua is a computer engineering graduate from Queen’s University. During his high school years, he dedicated a significant amount of time to tutoring math for students in grades 6 through 9. This early experience allowed him to build a strong foundation in teaching complex mathematical concepts and helping younger students develop their skills and confidence in the subject. His expertise extends to advanced areas, including functions, advanced functions, data management, and calculus and vectors. Joyce is an Ontario Certified Teacher who teaches at a public secondary school.  She completed a bilingual undergraduate degree at Glendon College, York University, double majoring in English and Mathematics. As well, se completed a Masters Degree in English Literature at the University of Toronto. She is certified to teach Intermediate/Senior Math, English, ESL, and Special Education. She is a very kind, experienced teacher who has taught all levels of Math and English. She is a strong believer in helping students build a strong foundation in literacy and numeracy as well as a joy for learning.

Judith holds a Bachelor of Arts in Language and Psychology. She also holds an Early Childhood Education Diploma, as well as an Advanced Early Childhood Education Diploma. She has over 20 years of teaching experience at a Co-Ed Independent School, a Boys’ Independent School and a Montessori School. In addition to teaching math, literacy, social and social science from JK-Grade 6, Judith also has expensive experience working with students and families to prepare for the admission process at independent schools. 

Judith is passionate about teaching, mentoring and guiding her students to work to their potential and to be life long learners. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, swimming, walking, cooking and baking, travelling, as well as spending time with friends.

Julia is a teacher candidate at York University’s concurrent education program. She aims to teach the Intermediate/Senior age groups when she graduates from university. She completed her undergrad at York University with a major in theatre and a minor in history. Julia has gained most of her teaching experience through working with different age groups at daycares and previous tutoring opportunities. Prior to university, Julia has tutored different subject matters including english, geography, history, and the arts.

Aside from her passion for teaching, Julia has worked as an assistant manager at a retail store and volunteered with drama camps over multiple summers. Julia used to take dance and singing lessons recreationally throughout her childhood. She also enjoys music and movies that she can share with others. Julia is very passionate when working with students and aims for each student to leave working with her to enjoy at least one element of what they have learned together.

Justin Dupuis is an OCT Certified Teacher with 11 years of teaching experience who graduated from Brock University with both his Honours Bachelor of Arts in Integrated Studies as well as his Bachelor of Education. He holds teachable qualifications in Mathematics and Geography teaching students in both the public and private sector from the junior grades all the way up to senior high school students. In addition, he has his specialist certification in special education, providing him with a plethora of tools for students with varying educational needs. He teaching career has taken him around the globe to the Middle East, but he currently works here at home teaching Math and Geography at Dunbarton HS in Pickering. Justin’s passions in education revolve around finding engaging and interesting ways to teach material that helps students to see the value and purpose of what they’re learning.

Justin Mejia is an OCT Qualified Intermediate senior (grades7-12) teacher with the qualifications and ability to teach English, Socials, History, Philosophy and French. He possesses an undergraduate degree in Philosophy and English from the University of British Columbia and a Bachelor of Education from York University.
Over the last several years, Mr. Mejia has worked full time teaching in class Secondary English, Socials, and French in British Columbia and in Ontario. He also has had experience working as a tutor and as a Youth worker. This experience, combined with his philosophical background, has given Mr. Mejia the ability to understand what is necessary in achieving student success. By creating an inclusive, engaging, and supportive learning environment, and by connecting students’ personal lives and experiences to the course content, Mr. Mejia believes that we not only enable students to achieve their intellectual, social, and physical potential, we also encourage them to develop into responsible, compassionate citizens that are prepared to meet the challenges of our ever changing world.

Karina is a lifelong student of the sciences, driven by an insatiable curiosity and awe of the world around us. Karina holds a BA degree in Physics and a BA degree in Science Education from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. She taught Mathematics, Science, and Physics in several middle and high schools such as Leo Baeck Educational Center in Haifa and Igal Alon High School in Eilat.

Karina worked as a Program Coordinator at the Family Resource Center and as a Parenting Skills Coach at JF&CS Toronto and York Region. Karina also volunteered in Public and High Schools, and got a volunteers award for her work at school.
Karina acquired in depth knowledge of the Ontario curriculum through Additional Qualification Courses and through private and small group tutoring over the past 16 years. She considers it a privilege to have many opportunities to guide learners of all ages and backgrounds, from those struggling with fear and frustration, to budding scientists brimming with curiosity. It has been her life’s work to help each and every student overcome obstacles, build unshakable confidence, and become independent, successful learners.

She graduated from Queen’s University in 2020, where she earned a degree in science and established a solid foundation in Science and Math. This, coupled with her exceptional organizational and communication skills, makes her an excellent tutor. Katarina has a true passion for helping students grow and reach their full potential. With her experience as a Behaviour Therapist, Katarina works hard to help children with Autism acquire important life skills that will aid them in reaching their full potential. Katherine is passionate about education and is committed to the success of her students. Katherine is a Registered Early Childhood Educator, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education with a concentration on Autism Spectrum Disorder and a Masters of Science in Elementary Education. Katherine has taken on multiple roles in education over the past decade at a private Montessori school in Toronto and both the York and Durham Region school boards. Katherine has been focused on inclusion and working with children who have special needs in her community since 2008. Katherine is focused on creating learning opportunities that are based on the individual and developmental needs of her students. In her spare time, Katherine loves to connect with her children while hiking in some of their local trails.

Kate earned her bachelor’s degree in Primary/Junior Education from York University’s Faculty of Education. She also holds a B.A. in Sociology and Criminology from the University of Toronto. While completing her Social Service Worker certification through Seneca College, Kate discovered her passion for working with kids and decided to pursue teaching as a career.

Kate has worked in various TDSB schools, an after school literacy program based out of an independent bookshop, and as a science camp counsellor. She has worked with students from Kindergarten to grade 8. Kate loves learning about her students’ communities and interests. She has also volunteered with Frontier College as a tutor for adults with learning disabilities and with Sunnybrook Hospital.

Kate is a born and raised Toronto resident who enjoys yoga, exploring the city’s many parks and ravines, and horseback riding.

Kate is qualified in Primary, Junior, Intermediate and Senior divisions. Kate has an undergraduate degree from Trent University (2018) in English Literature, with emphasis in Education and Linguistics. She has recently completed ABQ’s in Intermediate Physical Education and Senior FNMI Studies. Kate completed Special Education Part 1 after graduating from her Bachelor of Education at Nipissing University in 2021. Kate understands the importance of communication with guardians throughout the year to ensure the well-being and success of their child. Katharine is an accomplished educator with over a decade of teaching experience. Her educational journey has spanned from her early teaching days in England to her current role within the Toronto District School Board. Katharine possesses a solid academic background, including an Honours Bachelor of Arts and Science degree and a Bachelor of Education from Lakehead University. In addition to her foundational qualifications, she has earned specialized certifications in Special Education, English Language Learning (ELL), and Mathematics.

Katharine’s extensive knowledge and diverse teaching experiences reflect her unwavering commitment to fostering the growth and development of her students. With over 12 years of tutoring experience across a wide range of subjects, she excels in delivering tailored instruction.

Katherine is enthusiastic teacher with French qualifications, adept at coordinating and implementing effective lessons and student activities to enhance education, and personal development. Katherine has her Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Studies, and her Bachelor of Education. She is qualified to teach K-12.

Kathir Brabaharan has a PhD in Chemistry and has been an educator for more than thirty years. He retired as a Curriculum Leader for Mathematics from Sir John A. Macdonald C.I. and went to China for few years as a Mathematics/Physics teacher. Kathir won the Descartes Medal in 2009 for promoting Mathematics across Ontario. He is truly passionate about teaching and learning mathematics and problem solving.

Kenedy graduated at the top of her class from the University of British Columbia, and is currently completing her Master’s of Occupational Therapy at the University of Toronto. Kenedy has vast experience tutoring children aged 6-10 in reading and writing. She has also worked extensively as a behaviour interventionist, informed by applied behaviour analysis theory, with children and youth diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Kenedy has a passion for integrating education and play to ensure learners have an engaging and fulfilling session that allows them to achieve their goals. She strives to ensure each activity is meaningful and specific to her client’s needs. Kenedy draws on her creativity to implement various teaching styles to accommodate diverse learning styles and create a safe environment.

When she is not working, Kenedy likes to spend her free time crocheting, cooking, and exploring the city as she is new to Toronto!

Kennedy is a full time teacher at an IB Private Academy in North York. She has spent the past two years teaching primary school in London, England. Before moving to England, Kennedy studied drama and music at Queen’s University, where she also acquired her bachelor of education. By living and working in England, Kennedy was able to fuel her love of travel and curiosity of the world around us. In addition to travel, Kennedy also enjoys golf and performing in musical theatre – but her main passion has always been education and teaching.

A learning environment needs to be supportive, safe, challenging and of course fun. Kennedy’s approach to learning focuses on the whole student. She believes that a well-rounded education that touches on student well-being ultimately strengthens their ability to become successful global citizens. She understands the importance of empowering students now in order for them to be successful in tomorrow’s world.

Growing up, Kennedy set high expectations for herself as a learner, and she can support students by promoting successful time-management skills and she will work with the student to discover their own style of learning. Khalil has a bachelors of science in physics and mathematics. He is pursuing a master of teaching degree at OISE. He’s been tutoring since he has graduated high school with various different companies and methods. Khalil enjoys exploring new avenues by which to approach teaching mathematics and physics concepts and is always looking to improve upon his teaching and tutoring skill set.

Graduating with a Major in Kinesiology and a Minor in French, Kirsten is currently finishing his Master’s degree in Education at York University. Throughout his undergraduate degree, Kirsten was a varsity volleyball athlete, proving that strong time-management skills are crucial when striving for success. Not only has Kirsten juggled with being a student-athlete for multiple years, but he did so at the highest level, achieving time and time again a spot on the University’s Dean’s list. Along with being trustworthy and having a personable attitude toward everyone, Kirsten’s main objectives in life are to see improvement and growth in those who he teaches/tutors. In addition to being extremely motivated and goal-oriented, Kirsten possesses a wide range of educational experiences, such as substitute teaching in the TDSB, tutoring mathematics, French, and science, as well as being a multi-sport coach. All in all, Kirsten would love to continue striving for academic excellence through the knowledge he passes on to his students, aiding all, one session at a time.

Kirsten has been a teacher with the York Region District School Board since 2014. She is qualified in the primary, junior, and intermediate divisions and has a specialist in Mathematics and Health and Physical Education. Kirsten has always had a passion for the arts, specifically dance, starting from a young age then eventually being accepted into the Arts York Dance Program at Unionville High School, then the Varsity Dance Pack at The University of Western Ontario. Teaching has always been a part of Kirsten’s life growing up in a family of educators and administrators, and she too has future goals of becoming a leader in today’s education system. Kirsten currently teaches grade 7/8 in Aurora, she is the lead teacher of the Intermediate Student Council at her school, and continues to enjoy finding new ways of delivering the Ontario Curriculum to her students.

Krista is a first-year student at Queen’s University in the Concurrent Education program hoping to become a high school teacher in the future. Krista is working towards her major in health studies with teachable subjects in geography and Indigenous studies. She loves helping others and has always had a passion for teaching. Krista has grown-up-loving sports, and she proudly became a member of the Queen’s Women’s Ultimate Frisbee team this past year. She understands the importance of both mental and physical health and would love nothing more than to help young students learn how to balance both.

Although she is not a certified teacher…yet, Krista has worked with young children often. She has spent her summers working at camps teaching different activities such as crafts, biking and swimming. In high school, Krista spent time tutoring and working in a classroom as a co-op student.

Laura is a patient and enthusiastic educator who takes pride in helping her students succeed! Lauren is a Teacher Candidate in the Master of Arts – Child Study and Education program at the University of Toronto OISE. She pursued an Honours Bachelors of Science degree in Geography and Environmental Sciences from McMaster University with a Minor in Psychology and Interdisciplinary Minor of Sustainability.

Lauren has a keen interest in supporting children and youth, sustainability, community-based work, and advocacy. Much of her volunteer and work experiences reflect these passions, as they are centered around children and youth. She has also worked as the director of a summer camp for several years, and as an ELL tutor and peer mentor.

Lauren firmly believes that care and understanding are fundamental in helping students succeed. As such she works to build strong relationships with her students, gaining a deeper understanding of their unique abilities and learning needs. She challenges students while finding novel ways to meet each child where they are at in their learning journey. In her spare time, Lauren enjoys snowboarding, travelling, and spending time with friends and family.

Lenssa has been teaching senior science, accounting, and mathematics as an Ontario & BC Certified teacher since September 2013. After completing her undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto in 2011 (attaining a Bachelor of Science with high distinction, majoring in Integrative Biology and Psychology), she took a year off to explore the world as a flight attendant. She returned to the school in the next fall for their teacher education program (OISE), graduating with Intermediate/Senior Biology and Social Sciences teachables. Lenssa immediately began her teaching career at an international school in Saint Lucia where she taught happily in the sunshine for two years. In search of adventure, she moved to China and taught at in international school there for three wonderful years. Since she started teaching, she has returned to school to add Junior/Intermediate Math to her teachables as well as getting a certificate for AP Chemistry. She is currently back in school (at University of Toronto), taking courses to add Senior Chemistry to that list.

Born in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), Lenssa moved to Canada as a young child with her family. Since then, she’s moved around a number of times and has loved every minute of it. Having a teacher for a father and a family the impressed upon her the value of education, her love for the field was nurtured from childhood. From spending her summers as a youth helper in summer camps, a volunteer soccer coach, and babysitting the children of friends to volunteering as a tutor/ mentor to underprivileged kids during her undergrad, she has always made room for teaching. Her favourite parts of teaching are getting to know some wonderful kids and the continuous opportunity to learn new things. When she’s not teaching, she likes to spend her time with her family/friends, travelling, and exploring all that the world has to offer.

Lesley, a dedicated and seasoned Math and English teacher, bringing an impressive 27 years of teaching experience to her role. Holding a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Bachelor of Education from York University, her expertise extends beyond English to encompass Social Studies, Math, and Science. Lilly is an Ontario Certified Teacher and a dedicated secondary school educator with a specialization in grades 7-12, in science and French education. Holding a bachelor’s degree in science with a major in biology, she brings a strong academic foundation to her teaching. Lilly has also served as a swim instructor, camp counselor, and children’s hospital teacher. Lily has a Master’s degree in Mathematics & Statistics from York University. She also holds a B.Ed. from OISE. Lily is a confident and skilled teacher with more than 10 years of experience helping students with math. Lily is patient, compassionate and strives to provide students with the courage to work up to their potential. Lily is committed to work closely with families to help their children reaching their goals. Lily is specialized in all high school math courses including: MTH1W, MPM2D, MFM2P, MCR3U, MCF3M, MHF4U, MCV4U, MDM4U. In addition, Lily is experienced in helping students with the University of Waterloo’s Math Competition for all levels. Lily likes to read Mysteries, such as those by P.D. James, and to spend quality time with her family, including a Poodle named Stella.

Linda is a professor who has over ten years of experience teaching in universities, colleges and private language schools. Her forte is unpacking academic texts, videos, and lectures to ensure reading comprehension through summation, and pronunciation through phonetics and phonology. She ensures her students succeed in her courses as well as helps them with the many skill sets that they need to excel in university. Currently, she is very interested and has become well-versed in the benefits of integrating and enhancing the class curriculum with technology. She holds a Master’s degree in Education focusing on Second Language Education from OISE, a Master’s degree in English and a partial PhD in English, as well as being TESL Ontario certified.

Loridy is a passionate second-year Master’s student specializing in child education for the primary and junior division, while also working towards her Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) designation. Being the recipient of three scholarships, Loridy attained her Honours Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Education with high distinction. In her teaching, she adopts a student-centred approach that pays close attention to individual interests, needs, and diversity.

Known for her outgoing and friendly demeanour, Loridy has four years of tutoring experience, specializing in working with children aged 6 to 12, including English Language Learners (ELL) and newcomers to Canada. She has taught English, math, science, and social studies in classroom settings, always striving to make learning fun and engaging for her students.

Her experiences as a camp counsellor and study group leader have deepened her understanding of the importance of developing healthy study habits and fostering a growth mindset—principles that are reflected in her teaching practice. Loridy builds strong rapport with her students, allowing her to better understand their needs and interests.

Luca holds a Honours Bachelor of Arts in History and Geography and a Masters of Teaching from the University of Toronto. Furthermore, Luca has his specialist qualification in Primary/Junior Mathematics.

Luca is a tenured York Region teacher with seven years of teaching Junior/Intermediate experience. Here he has applied his education experience to become a leader in mathematics.

Luca has a balance approached and believes that learning should be a rewarding experience. He strives to optimize the learning experience by making learning tangible and applicable to students’ everyday lives.

Lucas is a Certified Teacher with the Toronto Catholic District School Board after graduating from York University with an Honours Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education in the Intermediate/Senior division. Following graduation, Lucas continues to hone his skills as an educator teaching in the senior division in different high schools as he supports his student’s development in essay writing, critical thinking, citations and other learning skills. Lucas believes in and values the individuality of each student and strives to tailor his teaching and tutoring methods to best fit the student at hand.

For over 5 years Lucas has devoted his time working in camps with the City of Toronto and volunteering in schools within the TCDSB where he has learned how to create positive learning environments and identify the strengths and weaknesses of each learner. In his spare time, Lucas enjoys the outdoors either hiking in provincial parks or playing golf with friends and family.

Lucía L. was born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia. In Colombia, she attended an Italian immersion school for twelve years. She moved to Canada in 2014 and graduated from York University with a BFA in Dance. Since graduation, Lucía has worked as a professional dancer and teacher for over five years. Simultaneously she worked as a Student Recruiting Associate at The Bishop Strachan School, interviewing and assessing Junior School and Boarding School student applicants. At BSS, she developed strong relationships with incoming students and families and learned different teaching and learning methods from exceptional faculty. Lucía is a Master of Teaching (Primary/Junior) candidate at OISE, University of Toronto. She enjoys teaching Math, Spanish and Italian, supporting students studying skills and strategies. She is an enthusiastic and creative teacher passionate about building confidence in students learning.

Luke is a tutor and learner who values breadth, experimentation and interdisciplinary knowledge, having radically changed majors, schools and career goals many a time. Ultimately earning an MA in Linguistics and a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Toronto, he has tutored mathematics, French, physics, chemistry and computer programming since 2016, with stints working as a university teaching assistant, dialect researcher, and even a professional web developer. He has worked with students of all ages, from elementary to post-secondary, and with diverse learning needs, such as ADHD and giftedness. Luke believes in maintaining a non-judgemental space where students are encouraged to identify and articulate their difficulties and strengths, formulate goals, and develop a sense of self-efficacy through subject mastery. Grateful to have savoured quite the cheese platter of educational opportunities, he continues to sample new ones, dabbling in theatrical clown, improv, voice acting, and the aerial arts.

Madeline is an Ontario Certified Teacher, holding a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, followed by a Bachelor of Education from York University, specializing in the Primary/Junior grade levels. Her passion for travelling and athletics led her to study in North Carolina, and obtain a tennis scholarship for the women’s varsity team with the NCAA. Additionally, Madeline has taken an Additional Qualification in Special Education, and consistently participates in educational workshops to further her knowledge. She has worked in both the private and public school systems, as a fulltime teacher, supply teacher, and as an Educational Assistant. Madeline believes that every student is a unique force with an abundance of talent. Her challenge as an educator is to provide learning opportunities that engage, challenge and empower students in realizing their highest potential. Madeline is passionate about working with children and helping them gain the confidence they need to succeed.

For Mahala, teaching and working with young learners has always been her passion. She completed her undergraduate degree from Wilfrid Laurier University, majoring in Youth and Child Studies with a minor in Psychology. In 2019, Mahala earned her Master of Teaching degree from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, with a focus on primary/ junior education.

Having struggled as a young student due to her own learning challenges, Mahala has become very passionate about the importance of instilling a love of learning at a young age as well as a strong academic foundation. During her undergrad, Mahala volunteered with the Grand Erie District School Board and the ‘Strong Start to Reading’ program, an approach that supports the literacy skills of students in JK-grade 2. It was here that Mahala developed an interest in language acquisition development, prompting her to take the Reading and Kindergarten Additional Qualifications courses in order to better understand how she can support the language and literacy development of young learners.

Mahala ensures to do her best to support her students to help them reach their full potential. She believes in the value of fostering meaningful relationships with her students while creating a safe and supportive learning environment. By taking a collaborative approach to learning, students’ interests, opinions and ideas can be at the forefront of learning, making connections between the material and real life. With a lot of patience and enthusiasm, Mahala is happy to support students in Kindergarten through grade 6.

Man Lu holds a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Ottawa and a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry. With a strong background in both chemistry and engineering, she has developed a deep understanding of these fields, which she effectively imparts to her students. Specializing in high school education, Man focuses on teaching calculus and chemistry, helping students grasp complex concepts with clarity and confidence. She is deeply passionate about education, always striving to encourage and motivate her students.

In addition to her work with high school students, Man has three years of experience teaching university-level courses in calculus, engineering mathematics, and chemistry. Her experience at the university level has honed her ability to address diverse learning needs, ensuring that her students not only learn but also excel.

Marcel has a Bachelors degree in mathematics, as well as many years of experience in the Educational industry.

Marcel has volunteered as an Educational Assistant at Monsignor Fraser Norfinch Campus, where he was also appointed as a math tutor for grade 11, 12 students. As an Educational Assistant, Marcel helps students who have IEPs with organizational skills and explaining mathematical concepts that will help them solve infinitely many numbers of questions. Marcel believes that educating the mind without putting your heart into it does not allow an individual to fully immerse themselves in their educational experience. Marcel is dedicated, resilient and resourceful when it comes to teaching mathematics. Marcel has over 5 years of tutoring experience both virtually and in-person.

Through his years in education, Marcel has successfully gained strong knowledge in teaching the Ontario middle and high school math curriculum.

Marcela is an OCT Certified Teacher currently teaching at a high school in Etobicoke with the TCDSB. She currently teaches Grade 9-12 French and Spanish. She studied French from Grades 5-12 in the Extended French program and all through university. She also spent five weeks in Quebec, studying and practicing the language. In university, she minored in Religion and English – making her capable to teach English as well. She was born in Guatemala, which is how she learned Spanish, but has lived in Toronto since she was 5. She truly enjoys teaching as her vocation, she is kind and has the patience and care to take on one-on-one tutoring.

Margarida is an Ontario Certified Teacher with a commitment for learning and student engagement. With a double major in English and History, she then finished her Bachelor of Education in the Junior/Intermediate/Senior divisions. She worked for the TCDSB for 31 years teaching a wide range of high school subject areas – English, History, Geography, Religious Education, Student Leadership, and GLE (Learning Strategies). She also held roles in Special Education, Student Leadership Program Development and as a Department Head.

Margarida believes that the pathway to success lies in a student’s understanding of their learning styles and seeing their potential, with positive support and individualized instruction. When students enjoy learning, they will do better. She looks forward to motivating students to find success and, more importantly, to realize fulfillment in the coursework they are engaged in.

When Margarida finds some free time, she enjoys baking, reading, spending as much time with family and friends as she can, and has embarked on her own learning journey with sewing.

Maria is a second year Concurrent Education student at York University, Glendon College, and has completed 4 years of French Studies, also at Glendon. She has various types of teaching and tutoring experience with young students, as a Serbian Language School assistant teacher, Teacher Candidate at a public elementary school and as a tutor doing one-on-one lessons. Working with children has given Maria a new-found passion and dedication for teaching, as it is a highly rewarding experience, knowing that she is helping students progress in their education and she is establishing their future.

Aside from teaching, Maria’s favourite hobbies include snowboarding (and sometimes skiing) in the winter, going to Europe in the summer, making clothes, eating burritos and reading.

Mariia S. graduated with honours from University of Waterloo majoring in Combinatorics and Optimization and Pure Mathematics. She has a Master’s degree in Combinatorics and Optimization from the same university. She has two joint publications and is currently in her final year of PhD in algebraic graph theory. In the past 10 years of her academic career, she has TAed numerous courses, tutored many students and is now teaching first year algebra course in University of Waterloo.

Marissa joined Prep Academy Tutors in 2014 after completing her Bachelor’s of Education (Primary/Junior) with a program focus in Special Education at Queen’s University. Since then, Marissa has taken additional qualifications in Special Education (part 1 and 2), Communication Needs: Autism, Reading, Kindergarten, and Primary/Junior Mathematics. In 2015, Marissa participated in a conference in Oregon to learn how to train teachers in Direct Instruction. In addition to Direct Instruction, Marissa also has trained teachers in the Wilson Reading System.

Marissa is passionate about making learning come alive for her students.  She works hard to find new and creative ways to reach every learner.  As an educator, it is her mission to inspire her students to become life-long learners who strive to ask questions and find answers.  Developing confidence and making learning fun are top priorities during Marissa’s tutoring sessions.  Students learn that it is through challenging themselves that they can learn and grow (even if they make mistakes along the way).  Marissa firmly believes that all students are unique and deserve to be educated in a way that incorporates their strengths and interests into their learning process.  

When Marissa isn’t teaching, you can find her hanging out with her puppy Rufus, or riding her horse, Rex.

Mark-Anthony is an O.C.T qualified intermediate senior English and History educator. He has an Honours Double Major in English and History from Western University, and a Bachelor of Education from Queen’s University Teaching. In the past, he has taught a variety of subjects including English, Indigenous Studies, Media Studies, Special Education and Leadership.

With a combined 6 years of teaching and tutoring experience, Mark-Anthony is excited to learn alongside students as they approach a greater understanding of their chosen subject.

Marta has been teaching in TDSB schools for over 15 years. Her teaching subjects are Mathematics and Computer Science / Computer Engineering in the Intermediate/Senior division, and in addition she holds an AQ in Special Education and ESL. She did teach Accounting and holds Level 3 CGA, as well. She believes that patience, resourcefulness, imagination, and kindness empower and help students trying their best to not only achieve academic success but also develop critical thinking skills and a love for learning.

Maryam is a third-year honors undergraduate student majoring in biochemistry at York University. She possesses both a strong foundation in STEM subjects and an eye for the arts. Maryam specializes in subjects including Mathematics, Science, Biology, Chemistry, French, English, History and Social Studies. Before she transferred to York University, Maryam earned first place among her peers in Calculus at the American University of Sharjah, UAE. Having lived in 14 international cities, and 6 countries, and traveled to 20+ countries, Maryam has become a vibrant mosaic of so many mesmerizing cultures. Moreover, she is fluent in 3 languages: English, French, and Arabic. Working as both a swim instructor and tutor for over 11 years now, Maryam excels at conveying knowledge in an engaging and digestible way. She is an approachable and patient educator, prioritizing the student’s engagement and understanding. Learning is an uncomfortable experience, and Maryam recognizes that students may feel afraid or intimidated. So she makes sure to accommodate students as best as possible while still challenging them and improving their abilities. Overall, Maryam is both a life-long learner and educator who is eager to push students to achieve their full academic potential and grow a newfound passion for knowledge.

Massimo graduated from the University of Toronto’s psychology program with high honours in 2021, earning a Bachelor of Science degree. He is currently in his final year of study at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), where he will complete a Masters of Teaching (MT) degree to teach Intermediate/Senior English and Social Sciences, as well as become Ontario Teacher Certified (OCT) to work in public schools across all of Ontario.

Massimo has a decade of teaching experience with students of all ages, having worked in educational roles for municipal governments, private schools, and tutoring institutes. Having worked across various academic roles, Massimo is well versed in working with students to ensure they succeed academically and learn their study habits and strategies by incorporating student interests in lessons and learning goals.

Massimo enjoys cooking, movies, and playing video games in his free time.

Matt is working towards his Masters of Teaching degree at the Ontario Institute of Studies in Education (OISE). Matt grew up in Toronto, moving to Kingston in 2012 to complete an Undergraduate Degree in Political Science and History at Queen’s University. He is a huge sports fan and loves playing hockey, baseball and football and is a lifelong Maple Leafs fan. Matt has always had a passion for education and teaching as he loves exploring and learning as much as he can. Matt’s excitement for learning encouraged him to pursue positions where he could explore and really get his students excited about learning. One of these positions was at the Royal Ontario Museum where he worked as an Education Programs Assistant. In this position, he helped facilitate theme based programs and taught lessons about the ROM’s galleries and collections. Matt also helped facilitate a leader in training course at the ROM where he helped participants develop their leadership skills and becoming more involved in their communities. During his time in Kingston, Matt volunteered as a Kaleidoscope committee member where he worked one-on-one with at risk youth to help them with their school work and provide social support and mentorship. On his weekends, Matt likes getting in touch with nature at High Park where he leads nature clubs for children that involve fun and engaging lessons in nature. As a tutor, Matt hopes to provide academic support in a fun and stimulating manner where he and his students can work together to solve problems.

Matt is a Junior and Intermediate Ontario Certified Teacher working during the school year with the Simcoe County District School Board. He graduated from Queen’s University with an Honours Bachelor of Arts in History, and he completed his Bachelors of Education at the University of Ottawa. Matt has continued his professional development in teaching by taking additional qualifications courses in Special Education and Math at the Intermediate level.

Matt has experience teaching at the Vienna European School in Austria where he implemented and instructed a competitive international curriculum to students aged 10 to 14. He also spent time teaching Junior grades at Stouffville Christian School where he coached the hockey, volleyball, basketball, softball and track and field teams. Since he was young, Matt has spent numerous years as a camp counsellor and sports instructor where he has been harnessing his passion and commitment to working with youth. Through an intense teaching and tutoring schedule, Matt continues to expand his teaching strategies by building strong foundations with his students in areas such as reading, writing and math.

While teaching in a classroom has allowed Matt to develop an enthusiastic and engaging approach to teaching, he understands that true growth and development in fundamental learning areas comes through 1 on 1 interaction. Character growth and relationship building are integral pillars for Matt’s teaching style and certainly help foster a more productive and successful learning environment.

Outside of the classroom, Matt is a sports-driven individual whose love for physical activity is often intertwined with his teaching. He is an enthusiastic supporter of various hockey, basketball and football teams and enjoys sharing these passions with his students. Matt is thrilled to join the Prep Academy team!

Matthew O’Reilly is an educator specializing in the arts and the humanities. He has his Honors Bachelors of Art, Bachelors of Education, and Masters of Education from Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario. He also holds a Masters of Fine Arts from the Alberta University of the Arts in Calgary. Matthew enjoys working with all age groups, having worked as a camp counselor, K-12 educator, and in post-secondary. In addition to being an educator, Matthew is an award winning emerging international artist, having been the recent recipient of the Canadian Clay and Glass Galleries Winifred Shantz Award. Matthew meets students where they are at and tailors his teaching approach to what each student needs. Gamifying, setting goals and tracking progress is Matthew’s favorite way to motivate students. Matthew helps students visualize difficult and abstract concepts by utilizing his strong background in the arts.

Matthew is a full-time tutor and has a B. A. in Economics from McMaster University. He has over 4 years of experience tutoring students one-on-one or in small groups both online and in person. Through these experiences he has learned what the best teaching styles are depending on the students’ needs and learning style.

When teaching students, he presents concepts through relatable experiences and interests for memory association. In order to establish their understanding, he always encourages the student to attempt the question before showing them the correct procedure. After explaining weaknesses in their attempt, similar questions are given until concepts are grasped.

May earned a Bachelor’s degree in English and Professional Writing at York University. During her undergrad years, she won two university writing awards and got published. For two years, she worked as a journal editor and competition judge for Jan Rehner, a department-level writing award for undergraduate students. She has various experiences mentoring and teaching students. Her favourite part is seeing people improve and become better writers.

Krishna has a strong command on teaching students using the socratic method and has received overwhelmingly positive results in his career. Krishna has been the head of the Science and Math department at a private school. Krishna aims to provide an in-depth education for students that stimulate understanding of the material on a foundational level. Krishna combines his teaching with various models and art-based learning experiences which stimulates a deeper understanding.

He is a creative and innovative thinker with experience teaching students from different ethnic and educational backgrounds. He has the ability to accommodate children with different learning styles

Krishna’s educational background includes a Honours Bachelor of Science where he specialized in Human Biology.

Meghan received her Bachelor of Education degree from York University in 2018, and she now specializes in teaching students in the Primary-Junior grades. Meghan continues to look for new opportunities to grow as an educator by taking additional courses in Math, Writing, Special Education and staying up to date with new teaching practices and resources. She has also taught remedial reading programs and SSAT preparation courses. Meghan’s philosophy of education has evolved alongside the growth of our education system. She believes in the importance of student voice and creating learning environments where students feel safe and reflected in their learning. Outside of school Meghan enjoys spending time with her family. She enjoys traveling, reading, sports and assisting in community outreach. Whether it is as a teacher, coach, or mentor, Meghan has encompassed the role of an educator in many different settings and has enjoyed every moment. Her knowledge and training have allowed her to become an exceptional educator and valued member in her community.

Melissa holds a Master of Science in Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology from the University of Toronto, where she developed a strong foundation in biomedical sciences. She recently furthered her education by pursuing a Master of Public Health at New York University, where she concentrated in epidemiology. Graduating with a 4.0 GPA and an award for thesis excellence, Melissa demonstrated her dedication to academic rigor and her ability to excel in complex scientific subjects.

With over two years of experience as a math and science tutor, Melissa has worked with students ranging from elementary to undergraduate levels, helping them strengthen their comprehension of STEM-related courses and reach their full academic potential. Her teaching approach is characterized by clarity, patience, kindness, and a desire to make learning fun! During her graduate studies, Melissa also served as a course assistant, hosting weekly office hours and delivering frequent guest lectures. These experiences have refined her ability to teach complex topics and provide the tools necessary for academic success.

Melissa currently works in clinical research at The Hospital for Sick Children, where she contributes to advancements in the field of chronic disease. Despite her existing role, she remains deeply committed to teaching and mentoring–one of her passions! Melissa strives to spark excitement in STEM fields and takes great joy in helping students reach their academic goals while fostering a lifelong love for learning.
