Upon completion of my undergraduate degree at Western, I completed a M.DPE from OISE, U of T and was employed for 3 years at OISE running an infant developmental lab, before embarking on my tutoring business.

Raemyn is excited to be joining the Prep Academy Tutors team in the role of Franchise Support Manager. She has been working with Prep Academy for over two years. Raemyn is a certified teacher who is familiar with the curriculum guidelines and expectations over various grade levels, and she specializes in teaching English and Social Sciences. Raemyn majored in Educational Studies and graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Bachelor of Education degree. Raemyn is passionate about creating a safe, inclusive, and better educational experience for students. In her free time, Raemyn enjoys watching hockey, traveling, and spending time with her family

Abir is an international teacher and native French speaker.  She holds a Masters in Molecular Biology and a Bachelors degree in Medical Biotech and has had more than 6 years teaching experience at the Lycée Francais in Jeddah where she taught High School Biology & French.  It was while she was overseas teaching that she discovered her passion for teaching and working with children. She is currently pursuing her teaching degree in Ontario at the University of Ontario Francais and will be an Ontario Certified teacher very soon.   Abir loves teaching French using a conversational approach, engaging activities and workshops. During the summer months she runs a Science Camp that encourages children to learn about science using interactive and hands-on experiences.  As a tutor, Abir works one/one with students of all ages and helps them improve their reading/writing, vocabulary and math skills.  She believes that by building strong relationships with her students, she is better able to meet their needs and help them develop a love of learning.

Meet Alessandra R., a dedicated Ontario Certified Teacher with a passion for creating inclusive and empowering learning environments. Alessandra is from Newmarket. Her educational foundation is rooted in French immersion, spanning from grade 1 to 12, and extending into her post-secondary studies. Her academic pursuits culminated in a Bachelor of Education from Ontario Tech University, solidifying her as a certified educator. Alessandra holds two undergraduate degrees—a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Brock University and a Bachelor of Therapeutic Recreation from Seneca College. This unique combination of disciplines reflects her holistic approach to education, integrating sociological perspectives with therapeutic recreation principles. Alessandra is well-versed in Universal Design for Learning and is committed to making education accessible to all. Her instructional approach, focusing on multiple means of representation, engagement, and expression, seeks to empower every learner to unlock their full potential. Always eager to innovate and adapt, Alessandra continually explores creative strategies to meet the unique needs of each student. Beyond the classroom, Alessandra’s experiences in coaching various ages and sports have shaped her philosophy. Alessia is an Ontario Certified Teacher with a variety of teaching experiences. She completed an Honours Bachelor of Science Degree at the University of Toronto. During her time there, she discovered her passion for teaching while volunteering for an after school hands-on science program in Toronto schools. She went on to complete her Bachelor of Education at York University, and is currently working as a teacher with her local school board. Alessia is qualified to teach all grades, and has tutored and taught students from kindergarten to twelfth grade in math, reading, writing, and science. She has also worked with new English Language Learners and students with a variety of abilities, always catering lessons to their specific learning needs.Alessia is passionate about teaching math and science and always aims to make every lesson a positive and engaging experience by focusing on students’ strengths and interests. She believes that a student’s mindset is the most important part of learning, so she always encourages students to make mistakes, persevere, ask questions, and think with a growth mindset.

Alessia is an Ontario Certified Teacher. She grew up in Markham, and an Undergraduate Degree in Dance Education at York University. As well, she completed a Post Graduate Masters Degree in Language, Culture and Teaching. Alessia has completed a Bachelor of Education at York University with intermediate and senior qualifications in Dance, Family Studies, Drama, English as a Second Language and Special Education. In her spare time Alessia works one-on-one with children ranging from 6 years through high school helping them achieve academic success. She has supported the improvement of their reading, writing, vocabulary and early math skills. Alessia believes that by building a strong relationship with her students she is better able to meet their needs and grow their learning. As a mentor Alessia continues to develop strategies for working with children. She finds these experiences enjoyable and extremely rewarding.

Alfiya is an Ontario Certified Teacher with over 8 years of teaching experience both overseas and in Canada. She graduated at the University of Toronto in Neuroscience and Psychology, which equipped her with a unique understanding of cognition and motivation.

She has taught students from K-12 for the past 8 years and has diverse experience in teaching ESL students, students with exceptionalities, as well as various subjects such as Primary division all subjects, English to grade 12 and Math to grade 8.

Alfiya’s passion and mission is to guide students to understand concepts in a fun and simple way, to develop and challenge their independent and critical thinking skills, and to draw meaningful connections to themselves and the society. She has a genuine interests in her students’ success and knows that they all have the ability to achieve excellence

Amy graduated in April of 2021 from the University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor of Arts and a Double Major in French and Philosophy, as well as a Minor in Italian and Cultural Studies. She is currently a teacher candidate at OISE/University of Toronto Master of Teaching program and will complete her Masters in 2023. Amy has worked with students of all ages in academic, athletic, and extracurricular environments. This past year she was given the opportunity to teach within the YCDSB as an elementary school teacher. It has provided her with much joy and valuable teaching experience. Her role required her to adapt accordingly, being able to time manage, organize efficiently, create a safe, fun, and educational space for her many students, and provide diversified methods of learning as every child retains knowledge at a different capacity. Amy can tutor French & Math at primary/junior levels as well as French, English, Philosophy and Italian to secondary levels. It is Amy’s goal to aid every child in the success of their learning. She strives to not only help students improve on an academic level but allow them to dig deeper and realize their capabilities.

Anastasia holds a Honours Bachelor of Arts, in Psychology, and is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Education at York University. Her interest in Psychology was developmental studies, specifically in child development. She has always felt her passion was to be a teacher from a young age, forcing her siblings to play “teacher”. Her goal is to build a strong, hands-on academic experience in the Primary/Junior division. When not focusing on her studies or work, you can find Anastasia on the beach, somewhere abroad, or in the gym! She is dedicated in being part of evolving education, ensuring all students reach their fullest potential! Fun fact, Anastasia is bilingual in French.

Andrew C. is an Ontario Certified Teacher. He was born in Hong Kong and moved to Canada with his family when he was 10. He has an Undergraduate Degree in Psychology and History from York University. Andrew has always been an inquisitive and curious person who had a passion for learning and sharing his knowledge. It is this passion that led him to pursue education. Andrew began tutoring as well as teaching swimming and lifesaving lessons when he was 16. He found the work to be extremely rewarding and gratifying. His favorite part of teaching is being able to share in the joy of his students when they achieve their goal or learn something new. This experience led him to Kingston where he completed the Bachelor of Education program at Queens University. Andrew often utilizes his fluent cantonese and mandarin to assist other teachers with translating for immigrant families. Andrew enjoys sharing his interests with the next generation and volunteers his time coaching youth basketball. All in all, Andrew has worked with children ranging from 3 years all the way to 15 years of age. As an educator, Andrew believes that it is important to build a strong trusting relationship and learn about each student as a person. This is because everyone may be different, but everyone is capable of learning. It is the responsibility of educators to figure out how each student learns best and put them in an environment where they can be at their best.

Anette graduated in June of 2021 from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Arts- Honours Psychology with a Research-Intensive Specialization and a minor in Social Development Studies. She is currently a Teacher Candidate at OISE/University of Toronto Master of Child Study and Education program and will complete her Master’s in April 2024. Anette has experience teaching K-6 both in the public school board and independent school. Her practice focuses on building students’ relationships through celebrating their strengths. Anette’s teaching approach can be encapsulated by three words- care, compassion, and respect. Anette values differentiated learning and utilizes Universal Design for Learning to help students succeed. She enjoys making learning fun for all through games and discussions. Anette strives to not only help students be successful academically but also help them be confident in being who they are.

Anette spent her childhood in Hong Kong where she attended elementary and middle school. Having this unique experience allowed her to critically compare the education system in both countries and pick out things that she liked about each system. Her teaching philosophy has a healthy balance of Eastern and Western teaching approaches.

In her spare time Anette enjoys reading and exercising as it fosters both physical and mental health. Anette is fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin, and English.

Bill graduated from University of Toronto where he majored in Math and Physics. He specializes in teaching all high school Math, Grade 9/10 Science, Grade 11/12 Physics, Grade 11/12 Chemistry & Biology. Bill has experience teaching at IB levels as well as AP levels of Math & Sciences as well. He has participated in various contests in high school and university and trained students in contests such as SIN, COMC, Hypatia and Euclid. Bill is great at helping students to develop their problem solving and critical thinking skills.

In addition, he has tutored University courses including Calculus, Linear Algebra, Linguistic (Logic) for many first & second year students at U of T, Waterloo and Ottawa U.

Brianna is an Ontario Certified Teacher pursuing her Master of Teaching degree at the University of Toronto. Since high school, she has fostered her love for math, and hence completed her bachelor’s degree in mathematics/business administration at the University of Waterloo. In her teaching placements, Brianna discovered her passion for teaching Math as she worked with students from different backgrounds and grades. She describes teaching as a rewarding career and finds great joy when her students make progress. During her spare time, Brianna works with students in grade 7-12 to help them build their mathematical skills. She is also fluent in Mandarin and is able to communicate with ELL students or parents who are more comfortable speaking Mandarin.

Gary graduated from York University with an Honours Degree in Mathematics, and from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (University of Toronto) with a Bachelor of Education. He has been tutoring since he was in high school himself, covering all levels of Math—including Functions, Advanced Functions, Calculus and Data Management—as well as English. In addition, he is experienced with SAT/ACT preparation, and spent 16 years teaching martial arts professionally. Gary draws on the depth and breadth of his experience to tailor his tutoring to each individual student, aiding them develop the skills to successfully reach their academic goals

Gerrod Harris has been teaching in a wide variety of classrooms and learning environments for the last seven years. While teaching music both privately and in community centers throughout Markham, Gerrod received his Bachelor of Fine Arts and Education at York University. Certified to teach music and history at the intermediate and senior levels, Gerrod has experience teaching a range of history courses along with English, civics, business, and senior level social studies. Since graduating in 2017, Gerrod has continued extensively teaching music, while also volunteering and working in high schools throughout the YRDSB; joining the Prep Academy Tutors team is his latest step forward into a well steeped career in education.

Heather is an Ontario Certified Teacher with over 30 years of experience in public education. She has taught all grades from K-8, Special Education and has supported Multi-Language Learners.

Throughout her years of teaching, Heather has learned how important it is to recognize the individual learning styles of each student. She believes that it is imperative that learning be meaningful, and that students learn best when they can make personal connections to what is being taught to them. She believes in nurturing the whole child, utilizing their strengths and interests to support their areas of need.

Heather loves to travel, read, walk, spend time with friends and family, and practice yoga. She enjoys singing and playing the guitar, and has been seen in many classrooms with her guitar, singing songs that help students remember their times-tables, the life cycle of a plant and even long division! New songs, can be written on request!

Joely is an Ontario Certified Teacher and recent graduate of Ontario Tech University’s Bachelor of Education (Primary/Junior) program. She has experienced three elementary practicum placements in the York Region District School Board – specifically in Thornhill, where she was born and raised. Here, she developed best practices for writing lesson plans that engage all students and strive to meet every individual learner’s needs through Universal Design for Learning and Differentiated Instruction. This has motivated her to register for the Special Education Part 1 additional qualification in Winter 2024. Before becoming a teacher candidate, Joely graduated from Ontario Tech with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Communication and Digital Media Studies. During both of her degrees, she worked part-time as a writing peer tutor, supporting students in various undergraduate programs with their research, planning, and essay-writing skills. However, this is not where Joely’s passion for helping others began. It was her own Kindergarten experience that influenced her career aspiration, even skipping ski trips in Grades 4 and 5 to volunteer in her former teacher’s Kindergarten class. She has since been able to expand her skills in leadership, organization, and patience as a cabin counsellor, and now unit head, at Camp Robin Hood, a place in which she has spent every summer since she was five years old. Joely loves music, having spent her elementary school years in piano lessons and her high school years in a vocal music arts program. She also enjoys baking, going on walks with her loved ones, and cuddling with her two cats, Will and Grace.

Johnson moved from China to Canada in 2019 and can communicate in Mandarin and English. His educational journey was unique: from middle school in China to high school in Canada, from a public school to a boarding community, he is now studying life sciences at McGill University. His passion for teaching sprung out of leading his physics class when the teacher was away. He enjoyed delivering knowledge and seeing the smiles on the students’ faces. Ever since that day, he can often be found in the library or common room helping people out with math and science questions.
Johnson has also worked in a summer camp, instructing canoeing and camping skills. During his previous tutoring experiences, he has worked extensively with students from grades 9-12, teaching high school math and science. He passionately believes in the value of confidence and encouragement, and he loves having casual conversations with his students outside of class. As a result, he often becomes close friends with students, although his age may be the main contributing factor. Johnson feels honoured to accompany his students on their learning and witness them shaping their own educational journeys.

Kaisy is an Ontario Certified teacher with a Bachelor of Education from Queen’s University specializing in Math, Science and Chemistry as her teachable subjects.

Kaisy is a supply teacher with the school boards and has extensive tutoring experience. Science and Mathematics are a passion that Kaisy enjoys sharing with her students and she loves to help others find a specific interest that inspires learning and provides a different view of the world. Kaisy believes that the specific methodology changes, but the enthusiasm for discovering new things in a way that works for each person is the same. She is continually motivated by the confidence each student gains after accomplishing a difficult task and is committed to helping students develop a love of learning based on their individual interests and specific abilities. Kaisy is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese. She enjoys hiking, rock climbing and camping and she recently found her new all-time favourite – Bubble Tea!

Kathir Brabaharan has a PhD in Chemistry and has been an educator for more than thirty years. He retired as a Curriculum Leader for Mathematics from Sir John A. Macdonald C.I. and went to China for few years as a Mathematics/Physics teacher. Kathir won the Descartes Medal in 2009 for promoting Mathematics across Ontario. He is truly passionate about teaching and learning mathematics and problem solving.

Kelly Johnson is a certified teacher who has been teaching in Ontario for over 20 years. If you are looking for an expert in her field, with a special knack for making connections and working with children to develop a positive mindset toward learning and improvement, Kelly is the tutor for your child. A true professional, Kelly is a lifelong learner. She understands that learning can present challenges, but there is always a path for growth when you have the right help. Kelly has earned Part 1 of Special Education and her Guidance Specialist. She is currently working on earning her Teacher Librarian additional qualification. Patient and kind, Kelly will help even the most reluctant learner begin to advocate for themselves and take accountability for their engagement in their studies. Kiana I. is a high school math and science teacher. She completed a bachelor’s degree in cellular and molecular biology – genetics. She then moved to Canada to complete a graduate diploma in Biotechnology. While studying in Canada, she developed a passion for tutoring and was responsible for all exam-prep workshops in the faculty of chemistry and biological sciences. Her role as a peer tutor inspired her to pursue a career in education. Since 2019, she has supported many students from grades 7-12. She works at a gifted program, helping advanced students achieve their academic goals. She finds teaching a rewarding career, enjoys learning about each student’s learning experience, and caters her teaching style to their educational needs. She believes in making a positive relationship with her students to support them better in their academic goals.

Every student learns differently and it is important to foster an environment where students can embrace their individuality and their unique ways of learning. Lena Sadaka has been an Ontario Certified Teacher for the last twenty years. She is very passionate about her teaching and desires to foster a cohesive learning atmosphere. Introducing Luise L. a passionate math tutor dedicated to helping students conquer the world of numbers. With a Bachelor of Mathematics with Honors Co-op from the University of Waterloo, majoring in Combinatorics & Optimization and minoring in Computer Science, Luise brings a wealth of mathematical knowledge and expertise to the table.

Boasting over five years of tutoring experience, Luise has guided numerous students through the intricacies of math, witnessing their success as they navigated the challenges of the public education system up to grade 12. Having briefly explored the corporate world, Luise’s heart has always been in education. Now, with the evolving landscape of the education job market, she’s thrilled to re-enter the field and assist students in achieving their mathematics education goals.

Her tutoring expertise extends seamlessly through grade 12 advanced functions, trigonometry, and calculus. Although not versed in the data management curriculum, Luise is confident in her ability to support students in various math subjects.

Outside the world of numbers, Luise is a proud parent to five delightful feline companions and a caretaker to over 300 indoor houseplants. Her dreams include cultivating rare and exotic daylilies and peony flowers in the countryside.

Luke is a certified teacher who has over 10 years of teaching and tutoring experience. He specializes in both elementary and secondary English and through his years of teaching is able to support students in a variety of subjects. Luke has taught Business, Civics, History, Geography, and General Social Studies. He is also proficient in supporting English language learners and students with special education needs. Luke is a patient and encouraging educator with superb curriculum knowledge.

Madona is both an Ontario Certified Teacher and Manitoba Certified Teacher. She grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and was born in Cairo, Egypt. She did her Undergrad at the University of Winnipeg completing her Bachelor of Arts (B.A.). She also received her Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) at the University of Winnipeg. Her teaching specialty areas are in the Early and Middle Years. Madona taught in Winnipeg for three years from kindergarten to grade eight, teaching students with various learning capabilities. She also tutored students in various grades and subjects such as Literacy, Numeracy, Writing, Social Studies, and Science. Madona also speaks Arabic as a second language and knows some basic French. She likes to make learning enjoyable and encourages the students to ask questions and not to be afraid to make mistakes. In her spare time, Madona likes to solve jigsaw puzzles.

Marcus is an educator who believes that passion fuels academic success. Marcus grew up in Markham, where he was homeschooled throughout his primary and junior years. Throughout his intermediate, senior and post-secondary experiences, he noticed a stark contrast between the personalized learning style that one-on-one provides compared to the generalized approach seen in collective classrooms. Marcus has grown to understand the value of one-on-one learning and how it can focus in on particular facets of a student’s academic development in an otherwise busy day school environment. With experience in many Ontario classrooms, Marcus has worked with the Toronto Catholic School Board as well as the York Region District School Board setting up lesson plans and classroom activities to enhance student learning across all main subjects. Marcus’ background in Film and Media studies has influenced his teaching approach, providing students the ability to express their ideas both conventionally as well as visually. Being a sculptor and creative writer in his spare time, Marcus understands through practice that all ideas can be conveyed through a variety of means. It ultimately comes down to discovering the best means of which to bring out one’s full potential.

Mariah graduated in April of 2021 from York University with a Bachelor of Health Studies. In April 2023, Mariah completed her Bachelor of Education and is now a certified teacher in Ontario. Mariah has worked with students of all ages in academic and extracurricular environments. She is very experienced working with students who have exceptionalities and loves the one/one connection with them. She adapts her teaching style and methodology for each student so they can learn in a supportive environment. Mariah can tutor all subjects for Grades 1-8 and English, Science, Grades 9 & 10. Mariah aims to ensure each student feels valued and supported throughout their educational journey.

Marin is an OCT certified tutor and elementary public school teacher with 7+ years of experience specializing in French and Spanish with grades varying from 1 – 12. He enjoys seeing his students learn new things and become passionate about them. He also loves to see them students getting good grades and becoming more confident and happy individuals in their academic lives. He speaks 5 languages and enjoys traveling.

Matt is an Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT), and Economics Faculty member at a private school in York Region. He teaches both AP Macroeconomics and AP Microeconomics and runs the investment club at the school.  Matt has taught students that have been accepted to economics programs at the institutions of Harvard, University of Chicago, and top Canadian universities. He has written economics curriculum for the AP College Board, attended professional development all over the world and is in the process of becoming an AP College Board Reader and Consultant – marking AP exams and instructing AP teachers.  Matt loves inspiring students and introducing them to the world of Economics and is a great tutor.  In Matt’s free time, if he isn’t hitting a squash or tennis ball, he is spending his hours creating financial literacy content.

Melika H. is an Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) with a strong educational background and a passion for teaching. She earned her Bachelor of Education from Ontario Tech University in December 2023, and prior to that, she completed her Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at York University in 2020. Melika’s love for working with children and her dedication to the field of education led her to become an OCT certified teacher.

With a genuine enthusiasm for teaching, Melika strives to create engaging and inclusive learning environments that inspire her students to reach their full potential. She believes in building strong relationships with her students to better understand their individual needs and support their growth. In addition to her formal teaching role, Melika also enjoys working one-on-one with children, helping them improve their reading, writing, vocabulary, and math skills.

Melika’s commitment to education extends beyond the classroom. She is dedicated to enhancing the learning experience through interactive and hands-on activities. Her innovative teaching methods and mentorship activities reflect her love for the field and her dedication to fostering a love for learning in her students.

In her spare time, Melika Heydarinasab enjoys various hobbies, including hiking, reading, and spending time with her 10 year old nephew. Her enthusiasm for teaching, combined with her commitment to personal growth and community involvement, makes her a dedicated and inspiring educator.

Michael is an Ontario Certified Teacher in the Intermediate Division. He completed his Bachelor of Science Honors in Chemistry, and his Bachelor of Education at Queen’s University in Kingston Ontario. He is qualified to teach biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics, as well as the general sciences. Monica Cheav is an Ontario Certified Teacher who has received both a Bachelor of Education Degree as well as Arts and Science Degree in Elementary Education, from Lakehead University. She is professionally certified in Elementary Education Primary/Junior (K-6) in Ontario, and is currently pursuing her Specialist certification in Reading, Kindergarten, Teaching English Language Learners, and Math. Monica’s love for teaching started when she was in elementary school, staying after to help teachers grade papers, straighten their room and put up bulletin boards. This has shaped her main focus as an elementary school teacher to construct an environment that nurtures students to achieve and prepare them to be life-long learners. Monica ignites her students’ interest in learning by creating opportunities that are challenging, meaningful, and relevant. She believes that teachers must embrace change, encourage innovation, and foster creativity.
Relaxing by the beach with a good book or magazine, hiking new trails, camping at Algonquin Provincial Parks and exploring the waters on a kayak with her family and friends are her greatest pleasures outside of teaching.

Nadia was a Montessori teacher (AMI trained) for over 35 years. She taught at the Casa level as well as Grade 1-2. She spent the last 8 years teaching Core French from the Casa level to Grade 3 at a local private school. Nadia is trained in the Orton-Gillingham Methodology and is currently tutoring students with this approach. She is passionate about Literacy and enjoys seeing the reading success of her students. Nadia also tutors adult Japanese ESL students online in Business English.

Her love of travel had her teaching ESL in Argentina and her students ranged from 10 to 70 years young! She spends time in Cuba with friends when time and resources permit. Nadia speaks French, Italian and some Spanish. When not tutoring, she enjoys spending time with her family and her dog. Gardening, hiking and reading are her favourite pastimes.

Nishanth is currently employed as a Software Engineer. He graduated from McMaster University with a Bachelor’s of Engineering. He is extremely passionate about math and science and is always eager to expand his knowledge in these subjects. Nishanth gained experience in mentoring students during his time as a volunteer at the IgniteCS Initiative at McMaster University.

An avid Formula 1 enthusiast, Nishanth thoroughly enjoys delving into the intricate technical details of both the engineering and the sport itself. Beyond his academic and professional interests, he nurtures a love for travel, seeking out new experiences and destinations to broaden his horizons.

Nora is an Ontario Certified Teacher. She grew up in Waterdown, Ontario, moving to Guelph to complete an Undergraduate Degree in Business. Nora grew up with a deep love of travel and took the opportunity to explore the world following the completion of her degrees- going to places such as Romania, Austria, and across Canada several times. It was during her stay in Jasper, Alberta that Nora discovered her passion for teaching and working with children. When she decided to pursue teaching as a career Nora moved to Toronto and completed a Bachelor of Education at the University of Toronto. It is through teaching that Nora has been able to foster her love of Business. During the summer months, Nora travels as much as possible, gardens, reads books, attends as many Blue Jays games as possible, and spends time at the cottage with her kids. Nora believes that by building a strong relationship with her students she is better able to meet their needs and grow their learning. As a teacher, Nora continues to develop strategies for working with children. She finds these experiences enjoyable and extremely rewarding.

In 2019, Olivia graduated from Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and History. In 2021, she completed her Bachelor of Education degree from Queen’s University with Intermediate/Senior qualifications, as well as a concentration in Exceptional Learners. She is looking forward to be working as an Occasional Teacher for the Toronto Catholic District School Board, come September.

She has considerable experience working with ELL students, and intends on taking Additional Qualification courses in Teaching English Language Learners, as well as Special Education and Primary/Junior courses in the near future. She has taught for both the Catholic and Public School Boards across the GTA, as well as virtual school settings. Her goal as an educator is to lead with compassion, tailoring instructional strategies to suit the individual needs and learning styles of her students. Olivia genuinely loves to learn, and hopes her enthusiasm will inspire her students to succeed. Sally Mastromonaco is an experienced educator of 25 years. With a specialization in English, Reading Strategies, and Special Education, she has dedicated her career to fostering a love of learning in students from grades 6 to 12. Sally’s journey in education began during her high school years in Amherstburg, ON, where she worked at the local library and discovered her deep affinity for teaching. This early experience fueled her desire to pursue a career in education. After completing her Masters’s degree in English Literature, she moved to the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) to embark on her teaching journey. Known for her ability to create a positive and engaging learning environment, Sally prioritizes mutual respect and active student participation in her classrooms. She believes in empowering her students to become confident learners and critical thinkers. Beyond the classroom, Sally leads a fulfilling personal life as a proud soccer mother to her 16-year-old son. Sen is an Ontario Certified Teacher. He completed his M.Sc and M.Ed.He is currently working on his doctoral program at the University of Toronto. Sen has taught in a variety of school settings, including both the Catholic and Public School Boards and Private Schools in the Intermediate and Senior Divisions. Sen’s empathy, positive attitude, enthusiastic leadership and responsibility, are some of the characteristics which he brings forth as a result of his experiences with teaching students. His goal is to teach so that learning feels fun and that his students feel comfortable to make mistakes and ask questions. In his spare time, Sen enjoys listening to Indian classical music, going for walks, and cooking.

Stephen enjoys working with students at all levels across many subjects. He graduated from the University of Toronto with a Masters Degree in Comparative Literature, specializing in English, French, and Russian. Stephen’s primary research focus was the nineteenth-century novel. Stephen received a Masters in Divinity from Regis College, also at the University of Toronto, and his MBA from the University of Warwick in the UK, taking continuing studies in finance at The Bocconi School of Management in Milan.

While Stephen’s background is in English and the humanities, he has tutored extensively in math, and especially enjoys working on problem-solving strategies. Stephen also have several years of experience with all aspects of SSAT and SAT preparation, including not only the quantitative and qualitative sections, but also with application essays after test completion.

Stephen has a real passion for literature, history, and philosophy, spending his free time delving into contemporary works. Stephen has recently taken a liking to nineteenth and twentieth-century history, and believes that as citizens we benefit when we have a fuller understanding of the past.

Steven is a teacher candidate at Nipissing University – he will finish his program spring 2024 and will be an Ontario certified teacher, qualified to teach Primary/Junior students. Steven attained his undergraduate degree at Wilfrid Laurier University, where he majored in criminology, and minored in English. He has worked as a private tutor for over five years including teaching overseas in Taiwan where he expanded his teaching methodologies and curriculum knowledge.

Stephen specializes in math, languages, and art for primary/junior grades – and very much enjoys learning new teaching techniques & using them to enhance his student’s knowledge. Steven is a native English speaker and is working towards developing his Greek and French language skills. As a teacher, Steven’s goal is to stay engaged and keep in the loop when working with his students, build solid rapport,and make connections as an educator. Tamara has been an Ontario Certified Teacher (O.C.T.) since 2005, teaching grades K-12 across most subject areas. Tamara held a variety of classroom teaching positions with the York Region District School Board for 11 years before transferring to private education, then more recently, tutoring. Tamara is certified and trained in specialized reading programs such as Direct Instruction (D.I) and Wilson Reading Systems (WRS). She has Teachables in the following subjects: Reading, Primary/Junior Mathematics, Special Education, Visual Arts, Instrumental/Vocal Music, and Guidance/Career Studies. Tamara also holds a Master’s of Psychology from Chicago School of Professional Psychology, specializing in Child/Adolescent development and behavior. (M.A. Psych) She is certified in Mental Health First Aid/Crisis Intervention (M.H.F.A., 2018), and has co-facilitated a therapy group for counseling children ages 7-9 years who present with A.D.D./A.D.H.D. at Kinark Family Services. As well, at Prep Academy Tutors, Tamara teaches and coaches students at all grade levels, and differentiates instruction for a variety of learning needs and diagnosed learning challenges,  supporting them through many academic, and social-emotional  challenges. Tamara believes in a holistic approach to teaching, and designs lessons that adhere to most recent evidence-based teaching practice (such as learning for/as/of understanding), develop social-emotional learning (SEL), which promotes students’ overall intellectual, social/emotional and mental needs.
