Lea A.

ENG: Lea Abdo is a student at McGill University, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical, Biological and Life Sciences, majoring in Anatomy and Cell Biology. She is recognized for her academic achievements, graduating from Saint Joseph High School in Saskatoon, on Principal’s Honor Roll with distinction, and a Bilingual Diploma. Lea also achieved first place provincially in the Concours d’art oratoire (Advanced French category) for both grades 11 and 12.
In addition to her academic success, Lea brings extensive experience working with children through babysitting and volunteer roles at community organizations, churches, and multicultural events such as Folkfest Saskatoon.
Lea is also active in student leadership, serving as Vice President of Sponsorship & Fundraising for McGill Hemoglobal, and a Student Ambassador for the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology.
Fluent in English, French, and Arabic, she brings enthusiasm, professionalism, and dedication to every educational setting she is part of.

JESSICA A.

Jessica is an Ontario certified teacher with more than 20 years experience. She has degrees in Music and Education from Western University in London, Ontario. She has worked for many years with elementary school children, has taught piano and also ran her own English school while living in Brazil. Aside from spending time with her family and children, Jessica enjoys rock climbing, being outdoors, yoga, reading and crafting.

SAJIDA J.

With over a decade of experience in child development and pedagogy, Sajida brings a compassionate, creative, and evidence-based approach to education. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development and a Master of Teaching Degree from University of Toronto. Sajida has received additional qualifications in Special Education, English Language Learning, Reading, Mathematics, and the Integration of Technology in Instruction. As a teacher with the York Region District School Board (YRDSB), she possesses a deep understanding of the subject curriculum and utilizes a wide range of resources to support and enhance student learning. Her teaching practice is grounded in Universal Design for Learning (UDL), with a strong commitment to differentiating instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners.
Trained in the Science of Reading, she employs this structured, research-backed framework to support literacy development. By integrating phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension into her lessons, she helps students build strong and lasting foundations in reading and writing.
In her tutoring career, Sajida is dedicated to empowering each student to build confidence and independence in their learning journey, fostering both academic success and a lifelong passion for learning.
Outside the classroom, Sajida enjoys an active lifestyle, including hiking and pickleball. She is also passionate about world travel, which broadens her perspective and enriches her inclusive teaching practices. Gurleen K.

Gurleen K. is a dedicated and knowledgeable educator with a strong academic and professional foundation in Chemistry. She has experience teaching students from grades 1-12 along with experience teaching students at Ontario College level. Her expertise lies in teaching mathematics and science (physics and chemistry).

 

 

 

Katherine F.

Katherine is a passionate and dedicated educator who finds true joy in helping young learners grow in confidence and ability. From a young age, she was drawn to teaching — spending summers in her mother’s classroom and discovering the fulfillment that comes from inspiring children to learn. That early spark grew into a lifelong commitment to supporting students of all learning styles and needs.

Katherine holds a Master’s degree in Literacy (B–6) and a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from Mount Saint Mary College. She is a certified teacher in both Florida and New York, with professional experience across preschool, elementary, and special education settings. Her teaching background includes work with students in grades Pre-K through 5, where she creates engaging, hands-on lessons that connect to real-world experiences.

Katherine believes every child is capable of success when given the right tools, encouragement, and individualized support. She takes pride in creating learning environments that nurture curiosity, build confidence, and celebrate each student’s unique strengths. Whether helping a child strengthen foundational literacy and math skills or guiding students with special needs to achieve their goals, Katherine approaches every session with patience, creativity, and genuine care.
Katherine is well versed in Singapore Math, Literacy Essentials, and other literacy programs.

Stephanie Y.

Stephanie specializes in elementary mathematics and has 12 years of teaching experience in Colorado public and charter schools. She is dedicated to helping 2nd- through 6th-grade mathematicians multiply their confidence and excitement about math.

She is recognized for growing her students at an average of two academic years in a single year. This success led to her current role as Lead Math Curriculum Developer for a nationally recognized charter school network. In this role, she designs learning materials, instructional slides, assessments, and engaging math content for both students and teachers.

Stephanie holds a Master of Urban Education from Regis University with an Endorsement in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education. Her educational philosophy is that all students can learn effectively — regardless of race, individual challenges, or social status. For every student to succeed, Stephanie believes that both children and educators must be held to high standards. Her approach emphasizes creative instruction, critical thinking, and building on each student’s foundational skills.

Beyond her work as an educator, Stephanie enjoys being a mom, indulging in foodie adventures, and escaping into the mountains.

 

JAMES S.

James S. found his passion for writing as the editor of his high-school newspaper. Under his direction, it fell prey to censorship battles and published only one issue. At university, he spent his time writing bad dystopian novels, and paid a heavy academic price for it. Returning to Toronto to pursue a career in screenwriting, he co-wrote ​Disappearance at Clifton Hill​ with director Albert Shin for Rhombus Media, starring Tuppence Middleton and David Cronenberg. After premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2019, it was picked up for North American distribution by IFC Midnight and reached #1 on US Netflix. Between his screenwriting and story editing duties, he still finds time to work on his next bad dystopian novel.

 

 

Janice H.

Janice is an Ontario Certified Teacher with a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Bachelor of Education. She has over five years of teaching experience in a variety of settings, including foreign schools, private schools, public schools within the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) and York Region District School Board (YRDSB), as well as one-on-one tutoring.

TESL-qualified, Janice specializes in supporting English Language Learners and helping students gain confidence in reading, writing, and speaking. Her lessons are student-centered, interactive, and designed to make learning enjoyable and meaningful. Known for her warm and engaging teaching style, Janice creates a positive environment where students feel supported and motivated to do their best.

Fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, and conversational in Korean, Janice easily connects with students from diverse backgrounds. Outside of teaching, she enjoys dancing and playing the electric guitar—bringing creativity, rhythm, and fun into her classroom and tutoring sessions.

SHABANA H.

Shabana is an accomplished educator with a Bachelor’s degree in Education and holds Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) status in good standing. Her qualifications span the Primary/Junior and Intermediate divisions.
Shabana brings over 13 years of classroom experience teaching at the elementary, junior and high school level in Ontario. In addition to her extensive time in the classroom, she served for two years as a Director of Academics, where she focused on curriculum development and instructional excellence. Shabana is deeply passionate about fostering environments where every student can achieve their full potential and experience meaningful academic success.

 

MAHMOUD B.

Mahmoud is a Science and Humanities educator based in the GTA, dedicated to helping students build the learning strategies and confidence needed for academic and personal success. Mahmoud studied at the University of Toronto, completing a Bachelors Degree in Neuroscience and Mental Health and a Masters degree in Biology and Psychology. During this time, Mahmoud’s love for learning transformed to a passion for teaching, so he served as an educator at the University of Toronto for 6 years, shifting his focus over the last 3 years to support K-12 students in Math, Science and Humanities. Throughout these experiences, he’s taught writing, oral presentation, critical thinking and scientific analysis to hundreds of students, and mentored dozens towards successful university and graduate school applications. Mahmoud prioritizes mindful communication with his students to understand their needs and bring awareness to their strengths, so they can build organic confidence in their improving skills, in a way that transfers to overall personal development. His love for teaching is complemented by active engagement in arts, culture and athletics, including music, poetry, dance, cooking and martial arts.
