Jessica J.

Jessica is a seasoned English teacher at a high school who is dedicated to supporting each student in championing their own distinctive narrative via the medium of writing. She received her MSW in Social Work from Southern University at New Orleans and her B.A. in Family and Consumer Sciences from Nicholls State University. She is currently attending Tulane University where she is pursuing her Masters of Arts in Teaching. Her extensive interests as a lifelong learner center on cutting-edge tactics that support creative writing. She likes to travel and spend time with family in her free time.

 

 

 

Trey B.

Trey is a certified high school math teacher and tutor from New Orleans, specializing in everything from 6th grade math to Precalculus. Currently entering his fifth year as a high school educator, Trey has taught a variety of subjects, including Honors Geometry, Honors Precalculus, and Algebra 2. This will be his second year at Isidore Newman School. A proud graduate of Holy Cross School, Trey holds a Bachelor’s degree in Math Education from Xavier University of Louisiana and a Master’s of Science in Applied Mathematics from Elizabeth State University.

With several years of experience tutoring in both one-on-one and small group settings, Trey has helped undergraduate students during his time in graduate school and continues to support students outside the classroom. He has a deep love for mathematics and is enthusiastic about sharing that passion with the students he works with. His dedication to student success is evident as he enjoys seeing students grow in both their mathematical abilities and their self-confidence.

When he’s not teaching or tutoring, Trey is a basketball enthusiast and enjoys rollerblading. Trey believes that “Math isn’t just a subject; it’s the formula for success.” His approach to tutoring is not only to help students achieve academic success but also to make the learning process engaging and, dare we say, a little bit fun.

 

 

Michael P.

With over 25 years of teaching experience, Michael P. is thrilled to help your child reach their academic potential. Michael received his doctorate in music from The University of Iowa and has had the privilege of guiding students of all abilities in their success. Whether preparing high school students for college or assisting elementary age children discover the joys of reading, Michael believes that a tailored, differential-based approach to learning is key to achieving maximum academic success.
In his spare time, Michael enjoys making music in the Treasure Valley and spending time with his amazing children.

 

Erin K.

Erin K. holds a Bachelor of Education from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto with Junior/Intermediate Specialist qualifications in Mathematics. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto with a major in Mathematics and Minors in English and Science. Erin has also completed additional qualification courses in Special Education, Reading, Primary Education and Kindergarten. She has worked as an Elementary Teacher with the Toronto District School Board for 18 years and has taught students from Kindergarten to grade 8. Erin believes that every student can be successful and helps them to achieve their goals by meeting students where they are at, building their confidence, and helping them move forward one step at a time. In her free time, Erin enjoys spending time with her family, reading, cooking, baking and travelling.

Cassandra M.

Cassandra M. discovered her passion for helping others learn while tutoring her younger siblings and family members. This early experience inspired her to pursue a Bachelor of Science in both Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Idaho. During her time at the university, Cassandra worked as a tutor for two years, supporting students across a variety of math and statistics courses. She is excited to work with learners of all levels, aiming to build both understanding and confidence so that students can truly enjoy math. Cassandra believes in tailoring her approach to each individual, creating a positive and engaging learning environment. In her free time, she loves spending time with family, watching movies, trying new restaurants, and playing pickleball!

 

Franco L-B

A specialist in physics education, Franco holds a Master’s degree in Physics Education from Concordia University (CGPA 4.15/4.30) and an Honours B.Sc. in Physics with a Minor in Computer Science from McGill University (CGPA 3.99/4.00). He has over a decade of experience teaching and tutoring science, physics, and mathematics to high school and CEGEP students in both English and French.

From 2020 to 2025, Franco taught physics and mathematics in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme in Japan. He developed and delivered engaging lessons grounded in research-based pedagogy, guided numerous student research projects, and led interdisciplinary science initiatives. His students consistently achieved results above the IB world average, and he received his school’s Top Teacher Award in 2023.

Franco’s expertise is reinforced by extensive professional development in physics and mathematics education, including training in equity, diversity, and inclusion in STEM and a teaching mini-certificate from SALTISE on pedagogical design and active learning strategies. His Master’s research on innovative physics laboratory instruction has been published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at international conferences.

Fluent in English and proficient in French and Japanese, Franco combines active learning techniques with structured practice to help students strengthen problem-solving skills, deepen conceptual understanding, and develop a lasting appreciation for science and mathematics.

Seth B.

Seth recently completed his Master of Public Policy degree from McGill University and holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alberta. With a strong foundation in both STEM and the social sciences, he brings an interdisciplinary perspective to his teaching.

His approach to learning is inspired by his motivation to connect theory and learning from the classroom to real-world problems and situations to make learning both engaging and relevant. Seth is comfortable teaching elementary and high-school subjects with particular expertise in chemistry, physics, mathematics, social studies, and the general sciences.

His teaching philosophy focuses on fostering a supportive and motivating learning environment where students can learn to take initiative, think critically, and develop a genuine pride in their learning. He hopes to equip students with the proper skills to both excel academically and prepare for success beyond the classroom.

Sofia Z.

ENG : Sofia earned an Honours Bachelor of Science in Physics with the French Immersion Program (2025) at the University of Ottawa. Bilingual in both French and English. She has worked in laboratories specialized in biophysics and photonics at the university. In her theoretical classes she excelled in many of her mathematics courses (Calculus, Linear Algebra) and her physics courses (Theoretical Physics, Mechanics, Optics, Quantum Mechanics, Biophysics, Astrophysics, and more).

Experienced in tutoring, teaching, and leading a few workshops in science. She hopes she becomes a high school physics teacher that can inspire young minds to explore STEM. Beyond the workplace, Sofia has many different hobbies including hiking, camping, swimming, reading, and skiing !

FR : Sofia est titulaire d’un baccalauréat en physique avec programme d’immersion de l’université d’Ottawa. Elle est bilingue français-anglais. Elle a travaillé dans des laboratoires spécialisés en biophysique et en photonique à l’université. Dans le cadre de ces cours théoriques, elle a excellé dans ses cours de mathématiques (calcul, algèbre linéaire, preuve et raisonnement mathématique) et de physique (physique théorique, mécanique, optique, physique du solide, mécanique quantique, biophysique, astrophysique, etc.).

Forte de son expérience en tutorat, en enseignement et en animation d’ateliers scientifiques, elle espère devenir professeure de physique au lycée et inspirer les jeunes à explorer les sciences et les mathématiques. En dehors du travail, Sofia a plusieurs passe-temps, dont la randonnée, le camping, la natation, la lecture et le ski !

Elyssa N.

Elyssa has a Bachelor degree in English from UofG, and her Bachelor of Education from Laurier. Elyssa has been tutoring 1:1 for about 5 years, and she started tutoring at Oxford Learning. Elyssa also became the Education Coordinator at Oxford in Woodstock. She can confidently tutor students in reading, writing, and mathematics up to Gr. 10.

 

 

Dr. Ariel Z.

Dr. Ariel Z. holds a PhD in Complex Biological Systems from Rowan University. She obtained her master’s degree in Biomedical Science from Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine and her bachelor’s degree in Integrative Neuroscience from Fordham University. Ariel grew up in China and moved to the United States during high school. During college, she volunteered as a translator at hospitals, and this experience inspired her to become a Mandarin tutor in her spare time. Over the years, Ariel has expanded her teaching experience to include tutoring middle school math, K–12 biology, and college-level biology courses. She is passionate about helping students build confidence, develop critical thinking skills, and discover the joy of learning.
