Hannah G-C.

Hannah is certified in English- Secondary Education and Mild to Moderate- Special Education and has been working in education for over eight years. She has taught and supported students at every level, from pre-k, elementary, middle, and high school, and currently works as the Instructional Specialist over the Humanities Department at a local high school. Born and raised in New Orleans, Hannah earned her degree in English Literature from LSU before completing a dual M.A.T in Secondary Education and Special Education at Xavier University of Louisiana. She believes that every student learns differently and is passionate about meeting students where they are, building confidence, consistency, and the skills they need to reach their goals, including preparation for state and standardized tests such as LEAP. Outside of the classroom, Hannah loves spending time with her dogs at the park, trying new restaurants, traveling, and indulging her passions for fashion and antiquing.

 

Dani S.

Dani is a dedicated Teacher Candidate at Ontario Tech University, currently completing her Bachelor of Education. Her two teachable subjects are History and English for Grades 7–12, and she brings a strong passion for supporting student learning both academically and emotionally. Dani is particularly interested in student mental health and believes that students learn best when they feel supported, understood, and confident in their abilities.

She values the opportunity to work one-on-one with students, as individualized instruction allows her to tailor lessons to each student’s unique learning style, strengths, and goals. Dani is enthusiastic about helping students deepen their understanding, strengthen essential skills, and build confidence in their academic abilities. Through tutoring, she is eager to continue expanding her teaching experience while creating a positive, encouraging learning environment that supports both student growth and well-being.

SAM R.

Sam is a recent graduate from the Master of Teaching program at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto. During his practicum placements, Sam has taught high school English for grades 9, 10, and 12, along with Philosophy, Law, and History. Essentially, Sam loves teaching everything related to reading and writing. With that being said, he also loves teaching sciences, arts and the humanities in general at different grade levels.

Sam also works at Action Potential Lab as a Science Technology Engineering Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) instructor for students ranging from ages 3 to 12 years old. This role has strengthened his adaptability to the various needs and stages of learning for every unique student.

Overall, Sam leads his lessons with flexibility and compassion to meet students where they are at and find strategies to keep growing and learning.

In addition to his recent work experience, Sam also completed his Master of Arts degree at Queen’s University in the department of History. During this time, he volunteered as a Peer Writing Assistant at the library to help undergraduate students with essays, formal reports, and general tutoring needs. Sam also worked for 5 summers as a counselor at Camp Ponacka where he taught sailing and led nature expeditions for campers ranging from ages 8 to 15.

To add a little bit more about Sam, he is very passionate about music, as he achieved his Advanced Rudiments with High Honours in music theory along with grade 7 piano certification. He also loves poetry, songwriting, yoga and meditation, visual arts, and snowboarding!

 

Garrett C.

Garrett is an Acadia University graduate in Kinesiology and an aspiring medical student with a strong foundation in the sciences. Garrett offers clear, student-focused tutoring in first-year chemistry as well as anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics. His goal is to break down complex concepts into understandable, practical explanations while helping students build confidence and effective study strategies.

 

 

Piyush L.

Piyush Lashkari is a tutor specializing in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, with extensive experience teaching students from middle school to high school. He holds a PhD  in Chemical Engineering from Western University, where he focused on polymer composites and advanced characterization techniques.

Piyush is passionate about helping students understand complex scientific concepts through engaging, interactive, and personalized lessons. Outside of tutoring, he enjoys exploring scientific mysteries and reading about real-world disasters. Piyush believes that fostering curiosity and building strong student relationships are key to academic success.

Sarah I.

Sarah I. is a certified teacher. She grew up in Guelph, Ontario moving to Trinity College at U. of T. to complete an undergraduate degree in French and English. She attended Toronto Teachers College and later completed a Master’s degree in teaching and a specialist in Special Education. Through teaching, Sarah has been able to foster her love of learning in different environments. Today, she works one-on-one with students from 6 years old to university-aged young people preparing for graduation. She supports improvement in reading, writing for different purposes, expansion of vocabulary, organization, and fosters a desire for learning and excellence. Sarah believes that by building a solid relationship with her students, she can best meet their needs and encourage their learning. As a mentor, she continues to develop strategies for working with students of all ages. She finds these experiences rewarding and she often maintains long-term educational relationships as students carry on through the further stages of learning.

 

Heather C.

Heather C. is a certified, retired teacher with a 30 year history of working in public education. Her qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Psychology (University of Windsor), a Bachelor of Education (University of Ottawa), and a Master of Arts in Education (Concordia University). Heather is certified as a Specialist in Special Education, an experienced teacher of English as a Second Language, Deaf and Hard of Hearing programs, and qualified to teach the Junior, Intermediate, and Senior Divisions. Past assignments include teaching all subjects from kindergarten through to post secondary college and university, and private tutoring. Heather enjoys helping students to compose and edit essays and research papers. She specializes in improving communication skills. Heather believes strong written and verbal communication skills are the foundation for success in most academic subjects for all grades. Heather’s proven success with improving students’ confidence and attitudes towards learning was evident in the improvement of their academic grades. In addition to being knowledgeable about the public school system, Heather has firsthand experience in the independent school and Montessori systems. Heather retired early from teaching for school districts to pursue a PhD in Education (University of Western Ontario) and to travel. She returns to do what she finds most rewarding which is helping families with their educational experiences in any school system. In her spare time, Heather kayaks, cycles, swims, and walks her dog on trails.

 

Valerie B.

Valerie is an experienced science educator who has taught middle school science, high school science, and AP Biology. She believes that science plays a vital role in helping students understand the world around them, from foundational concepts to more advanced scientific thinking. Valerie is passionate about making science accessible and meaningful for all learners.

She believes that every student has the ability to understand science content, and that confidence grows when students recognize and embrace their individual learning styles. By supporting students in discovering how they learn best, Valerie aims to build lasting confidence that extends beyond the classroom and supports success throughout their lives.

Waringa H.

Waringa H. is a tutor, writer, and designer with an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She has taught writing to undergraduates and has tutored students from first through twelfth grade. Through the nonprofit 826CHI, she led writing workshops, provided one-on-one literacy and homework support, and guided high school students through essay writing and college applications. When she’s not reading or writing, she’s probably watching hockey or on the hunt for the city’s best cheesecake.

 

DR. BRYAN F.

Dr. Bryan F. is a postdoctoral scientist at the University of Toronto, where he conducts interdisciplinary bioengineering and AI driven drug discovery research. He grew up in London, Ontario, and began his postsecondary STEM education by completing a Bachelor of Science (Honours, Co op Biochemistry) at the University of Guelph from 2015 to 2019. He further advanced his training in chemistry and biochemistry by earning a Doctor of Philosophy through the Interdisciplinary Oncology Program at the University of British Columbia from 2020 to 2024.

Bryan is an experienced high school math and science tutor within the Ontario Grade 9 to 12 curriculum. He helps students understand how complex scientific concepts and mathematical problems apply to the real world, while developing customized, course specific learning strategies tailored to each student. He also specializes in preparing undergraduate students for the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT), where he scored within the 96th percentile for Chemistry and Physics, the 90th percentile for Biology and Biochemistry, and the 90th percentile for Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills.

Bryan is passionate about public facing science communication and has participated in national radio broadcasts and podcasts to share cutting edge Canadian antiviral research in an engaging and accessible way. Outside of academia, he enjoys cooking and exploring food science, and he is an avid tennis and volleyball player.
