Chantelle Z.

Chantelle graduated from the University of Victoria with a Bachelor of Elementary Education in 2020. She is a certified teacher and has over 12 years of experience working with children in various capacities. She has taught Kindergarten to Grade 6 both as a classroom teacher and a teacher on call. Prior to this, she had experience in child care, camp counselling, daycare and tutoring. Chantelle has always enjoyed working with children and has a passion for learning that she wants to pass onto her students to help foster within them a lifelong love for learning. She enjoys finding new and creative ways to engage her students in learning whether it’s phonics and reading or science and math. She also recognizes that each individual learns differently and wants to help set her students up for success by meeting them where they are at. Chantelle personally loves teaching literacy as it was an area of interest and strength for her growing up. She believes that building positive relationships with her students is crucial to creating a safe and fun learning environment for everyone involved. In her free time, Chantelle loves spending time with friends and family or in nature, experimenting with art, listening to music and podcasts, playing soccer, and tending to her tropical plant collection. It also couldn’t go without mentioning that she is always excited to participate in any activity involving animals, especially dogs!

 

Vasiljka M.

Vasiljka (Vasa) is a dedicated 5th-year student at McMaster University, where she is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, and Behaviour, with a minor in Sociology. After graduation, Vasiljka plans to continue her commitment to supporting and empowering children by pursuing a Master’s in Counseling. Her passion for the French language began early in her education. She started in a French immersion program in kindergarten and continued through the French extended program in high school. Throughout her university years, Vasiljka gained practical experience by tutoring French to her peers and family friends. She is dedicated to helping others succeed and reach their full potential in their language learning journeys. Vasiljka personalizes her lessons to accommodate each student’s unique learning styles and needs, fostering a supportive environment that encourages confidence. Her academic background provides her with valuable insights into child development and effective teaching strategies, making her an excellent tutor for learners of all ages. Outside of her studies, Vasiljka enjoys reading, recreational sports, going to the gym, and spending time with family and friends.

 

 

 

 

Beryl L.

Beryl is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering at Concordia University. She is capable of adapting her teaching style to accommodate students’ needs and has over 2 years of tutoring experience.

Jennifer F.

Jennifer is an OCT qualified Primary/ Junior teacher with 21 years of teaching experience with the Toronto District School Board. She has spent the majority of her career teaching primary students in all subject areas and currently teaches Grade 2 and 3. She completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology at York University and her teaching degree at Canisius College in Buffalo, New York. Additionally she has obtained many additional qualifications including Special Education and Reading to name a few. Jennifer believes that each and every student is unique and has the potential to succeed. Her teaching philosophy centres on the idea that all students can learn, and it is her goal to unlock their abilities through personalized and engaging instruction. She tailors her approach to each student’s learning style, strengths, and areas for growth, ensuring that lessons are both effective and engaging. She strives to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment for all students, where they feel confident to ask questions, explore new ideas, and take on challenges. By fostering a love for learning, she aims to instill curiosity and a growth mindset that extends well beyond the classroom. Whether a student is seeking to improve in a particular subject or simply needs guidance in their academic journey, Jennifer is committed to helping them achieve their goals with patience, creativity, and enthusiasm. She is a huge believer that when students feel empowered and supported, they not only gain academic skills but also build the confidence to face challenges, setting them up for lifelong success.

SYRENA B.

Born and raised in Toronto’s West End, Syrena is a Registered Early Childhood Educator and Ontario Certified Teacher who is committed to making learning engaging and enjoyable for the students in her care.
Attending University of Toronto and George Brown College allowed her to stay close to family and friends while pursuing her educational aspirations.
Syrena completed her Bachelor’s degree in English and Political Science before receiving her Diploma in Early Childhood Education from George Brown College and her Master’s in Teaching from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE, U of T). Throughout her educational pursuits, Syrena gained experience working in the nonprofit sector, within organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club and the YMCA. Her work within these two organizations combined spans over a decade.

Syrena’s warm and welcoming demeanor has been recognized by many as part of her charm in meeting new people and most specifically, building caring and comforting relationships with children. In fact, her initial opportunity to work with Boys and Girls Club was recommended to her by the Program Coordinator who recognized that she would be a natural working with children in the after school and summer camp program. In reflecting on her own early childhood experiences, Syrena attributes her training in Taekwondo to her confidence in providing clear instruction and her patience in supporting students who require extra time to achieve their learning goals.

Since Syrena was a student in the gifted program, she is passionate about working with students with exceptionalities and additional needs. She has completed the Special Education Part 1 Additional Qualification and is planning to obtain her Special Education Specialist Qualifications in 2025. She is currently completing the Reading Part 1 AQ.
In addition to having her black belt in Taekwondo and being a certified yoga instructor, Syrena has completed 4 half marathons. Needless to say she is quick on her feet and flexible!

CARLA L.

Carla is a certified Ontario teacher who grew up in Mississauga, Ontario and brings a strong academic background and deep passion for education to her work. After completing a liberal arts degree at Wilfrid Laurier University, Carla discovered her true calling in teaching—drawn to the meaningful connections she built with students and the joy of helping young people learn and grow.

She currently teaches in her own Grade 8 classroom, where she applies a student-centered approach that combines academic excellence with emotional intelligence. Carla believes in “teaching with the end in mind” while leading with empathy, striving every day to be both an educator and a role model for her students. She holds an additional qualification (AQ) in Intermediate History, further expanding her ability to support students across a range of subjects with a strong foundation in the humanities.

In addition to her classroom teaching, Carla has extensive experience tutoring both high school and university students. Her supportive and personalized approach has helped students succeed in subjects ranging from history and English to essay writing and exam preparation. Carla’s ability to connect with learners of all ages and tailor her teaching to their individual needs has made her a trusted guide for many students as they navigate their academic journeys.

SAWSAN R.

Sawsan R. is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Education (BEd) at York University Glendon as part of the Concurrent Education program. She successfully completed her four-year Honours Bachelor in French Studies, gaining a deeper understanding of the French language and culture. Now in her first year of her BEd program, Sawsan is enhancing the skills and knowledge required to become a successful and engaging educator.

Sawsan has extensive tutoring and teaching experiences, having taught K-12 students at the University of Toronto youth educational programs. With 7 years of experience as an educator, she has developed a strong ability to connect with students and create a positive learning environment.

Her studies have provided her with a strong foundation in both subject expertise and effective teaching approaches. Sawsan is committed to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment where her students are motivated to improve their language skills and succeed academically.

As Sawsan is fluent in both English and French, she can connect with students from diverse linguistic backgrounds. With her profound experience working with students at various proficiency levels and her strong academic background, she ensures that every student receives high-quality instruction meeting each student’s needs. Sawsan is eager to make a positive impact on her students and help them become proficient in French.

 

Kerrin C.

Kerrin has been an experienced teacher in Asia for 12 years, teaching senior chemistry, senior biology, mathematics 10, science 10, and physics 11. Kerrin is very passionate about science education and has numerous experiences assisting students to achieve their academic goals.
Kerrin has recently returned from Asia teaching first at Nisga’a Elementary Secondary School and currently teaching at Whistler Secondary School. Outside of work he often engages in numerous sporting activities.

 

Felix C-M.

Félix a obtenu un diplôme d’études collégiales (DEC) en sciences pures et appliquées au Collège Dawson. Il poursuit ensuite des études en sciences environnementales et sociales à l’Université de Montréal. Une de ses matières de spécialité comprend les mathématiques du niveau primaire à cégep. Félix a plus de 5 ans d’expérience en tutorat et a obtenu de nombreux prix académiques durant son parcours scolaire. De plus, en 2021, Félix a suivi un cours de tutorat pédagogique de français pour maîtriser des compétences en tutorat. Il a également de l’expérience de tutorat avec des étudiants de niveau primaire à cégep en français. Félix s’intéresse beaucoup à la transition environnementale et sociale et il est impliqué dans plusieurs associations. Il aime faire de l’exercice; il court compétitivement et fait du ski de fond en hiver.

Félix earned a cégep diploma (DEC) in Pure and Applied Sciences at Dawson College. He then went on to study environmental and social science at Université de Montreal. His speciality subjects include Math and Physics covering Calculus 1, 2, 3, and Linear Algebra. Felix has over 5 years of tutoring experience and has obtained multiple academic awards in his area of speciality. Furthermore, in 2021 Felix completed a pedagogical tutoring course to master his tutoring technique. He also has experience tutoring students in Elementary-Cégep level French. Felix is deeply interested in the environmental and social transition and he is involved in several associations. He loves to exercise as he runs competitively and cross country skis during winter.

Zahra S.

With a passion for the science and chemistry and over 10 years of teaching experience at secondary and post-secondary levels, Zahra brings a wealth of knowledge to the learning sessions. Zahra holds PhD in Chemical Engineering from Universite Laval in Quebec, author of numerous research publications, recipient of Vanier Graduate Scholarship provided by NSERC and is currently in the last year of Teaching Education Program at Brock University becoming Ontario Certified Teacher soon. She has significant experience in teaching chemistry at very high level of satisfaction reported by her students for both regular Ontario curriculum and IB and AP programs. She has been working with students of varying age and background both in public and private systems in Ontario. She works to accommodate all with differentiated instruction based on individual’s needs and preferences in an equitable and responsive environment. Her teaching philosophy centers on making chemistry accessible and exciting for all students, fostering both academic growth and curiosity. She has also catered various students for chemistry and science tutoring in one-in one based on each student’s need. She is a dedicated teacher helping students foster their self-confidence and learning potential to reach high academic achievement and ownership of their learning.
