I am a PhD student (Chemical Engineering) with a strong background in math & physics. I have 5+ years of tutoring experience. I love teaching and would like to not only teach my students math and physics, but also teach the strategies for studying, time management, setting goals and, achieving them.

 

 

Clent I.

Clent is a dedicated educator with twenty-six years of teaching experience. Hailing from Jackson, Mississippi, he earned his BS in Biology from Jackson State University, where he was a member of the famed, “Sonic Boom of the South,” which performed at the 2024 Super Bowl Halftime. He is also a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. He furthered his education at Southern Illinois University (Carbondale), pursuing a Master’s in Physiology. As a third- generation educator, Clent is deeply committed to the belief that every student has the potential to learn, emphasizing the importance of meeting students at their current level and guiding them towards their academic goals. Over the course of his career, he has taught both elementary and middle school with the latter half of his teaching career; teaching middle school mathematics. He strives to create a nurturing environment where the academic expectations and outcomes are clear; together he and his students systematically work to achieve these outcomes. Clent is an avid traveler, a voracious reader, and adores concerts and other live music venues.

Amrita G.

Amrita has a Masters in Finance and Masters in Business Administration through distance education in India. After becoming a mother of two kids she switched her career from Information Technology to teaching. She started to enjoy teaching, especially Math, to elementary children at the International school in India. She is passionate about learning new math concepts and knows how to help children improve their focus and attention, building a strong foundation in this subject in a very friendly manner. She enjoys bringing her perspective, international experiences and wealth of education to those she works with.

 

Filip Z.

Filip is a BC Certified Teacher who graduated from the University of Calgary in 2017 with a Concurrent Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts and Education with distinction. He also studied Drama abroad in New York for a year during his educational career at the U of C. Since graduation, Filip has taught high school English and Drama at St. John’s – he was actually the one who started the Drama program from scratch at that school. Currently, Filip is working as a Teacher on Call, covering all subjects from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12, more often being called in to teach K-Grade 7.
Separate from teaching, other experience with kids includes working as a superhero at children’s birthday parties pre-COVID. He is also an actor and a co-founder of a successful sketch comedy group in Vancouver. Filip is really good with people, in and out of the workplace. He puts a lot of emphasis on forming connections with the people in his life, whether it is his friends, family, or students he teaches. He is a firm believer of giving every student the attention they deserve to set themselves up for success.

THEO M.

Theodore is currently a student at Ambrose University, working towards a Bachelor of Education. He also holds a BA in Political Science and two certifications in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. Prior to deciding to be a teacher, Theo spent his time supporting students in other ways such as working in co-operative education at the University of Calgary and teaching English just outside of Barcelona. He enjoys being physically active, taking in art, being civically engaged, and reinvigorating kids’ love for learning. He looks forward to supporting your child in the development of their academic skills and the establishment of a lifelong love of all things expressive.

Nicole S.

Nicole is a teacher candidate at Lakehead University, enrolled in the Bachelor of Education program and set to graduate in the spring. She completed her undergraduate degree at McMaster University in the Arts and Science program, where she specialized in Earth and Environmental Sciences as well as Biology. During her time at McMaster, Nicole gained valuable teaching experience as a teaching assistant for three years, honing her skills in both classroom management and personalized academic support. Currently, she is excited to join Prep Academy Tutors, where she continues her passion for teaching.

With a strong foundation in biology and mathematics, Nicole has developed a reputation as an effective and engaging tutor. She is dedicated to fostering understanding and enthusiasm in her students, tailoring her approach to meet individual needs. Nicole’s background in environmental science and biology, combined with her commitment to education, positions her as a knowledgeable and passionate emerging educator in the fields of science and math.

 

Michael Z.

Michael A. Zaucedo graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry in 2021. He grew up in Chicago, IL and attended a boarding High school at Lake Forest Academy in 2011. Michael grew up with a deep love for Science and Mathematics and took a study abroad opportunity in Costa Rica in the summer of 2018 to study an indigenous plant called Jatoba. During the summer of 2019, he discovered his passion for teaching and working with children when completing his teaching internship at High Jump Chicago as a teaching assistant (TA) for Chemistry––through teaching, he fostered his love for Chemistry and Mathematics. In his spare time, Michael works one-on-one with students ranging from middle through High School. He encouraged and supported the improvement of their Chemistry, and Mathematics skills ranging from Algebra, Trigonometry and Calculus. As a mentor, Michael continues to develop strategies for working with students and believes that building strong relationships will grow their learning and help guide them to reach their full potential toward being a well rounded student. Michael enjoys playing sports like baseball, basketball and football, watching suspense movies, as well as spending time with his family and friends.

 

Carol K.

Carol Kato graduated from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, with a double major in Psychology and Diversity Studies. During her time in school, she worked as a tutor and mentor to grade school children aged 4 to 13. Carol has a passion for understanding how the human brain develops, which has sparked her interest in how children retain information through play and storytelling. She has worked with children from diverse backgrounds and cultures and speaks three languages: English, Spanish, and Portuguese. Carol knows that many children struggle with certain subjects not because they are incapable of understanding the information, but because that information sometimes needs to be broken down step by step, in a playful manner, to improve memory retention and understanding.

In addition to her work with children, Carol loves shopping, traveling, eating, drinking tea, and spending time with her friends and family. Her family consists of her husband, their 3-year-old son, and their beloved dogs, Tina and Brady.

 

Kyle W.

Kyle is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science at the University of Texas at San Antonio and is planning to advance his studies with a Master’s degree at UTSA, where he aims to focus on Cloud Computing and AI research. With a strong foundation in teaching, Kyle has experience tutoring college-level math including Statistics, Algebra, Precalculus, and Calculus 1. Additionally, he supports students in Computer Science, sharing his skills and love for web development and proficiency in languages like C, Java, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and Python. He has acquired level 1 and 2 College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) certifications. During his free time, Kyle enjoys lifting weights, studying cloud computing, and playing the guitar.

Silian S.

Silian is a seasoned educator with five years of experience in leadership development, including roles as a university lecturer, researcher, and coach. Originally from Europe, he has recently relocated to Canada and has also lived in the US, Germany, and the Netherlands, bringing a rich international perspective to his teaching. Silian holds a BSc in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics and an MSc in Human Resource Management, specializing in leadership development.

His deep interest in personal growth drives his dedication to tutoring, where he empowers students to take charge of their learning process through thoughtful, collaborative support. As someone who has experienced ADHD symptoms throughout school and continues to navigate them as an adult, Silian deeply values the power of tailored, empathetic support. He draws from his own positive experiences with tutoring to create a space where students feel truly seen, understood, and encouraged to thrive.

Outside the classroom, Silian loves to move and to be outside, filling his time with backpacking, biking, running, and embracing any chance to explore nature.
