Dr. S. Cuevas

Dr. S. Cuevas is an experienced educator and higher-education professional with more than a decade of success supporting students’ academic growth, confidence, and career readiness. As a first-generation college graduate originally from South Texas’s Rio Grande Valley, and an individual with hearing loss, Dr. Cuevas brings a deep personal understanding of perseverance, inclusive learning, and the power of individualized support. He holds a Ph.D. and a master’s in Rehabilitation Counseling, a bachelor’s in English, and is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) and Certified Vocational Evaluation Specialist (CVE) through CRCC. With a strong foundation in English and literacy instruction, he has taught university courses, supported interdisciplinary research, and guided hundreds of learners in writing, critical thinking, academic planning, and career development. His early experience as a high school English Language Arts, literacy-intervention teacher, tutor for entering college students with disabilities, as well as a writing tutor at the university level, further strengthened his ability to tailor instruction to diverse learning needs. Bilingual in English and Spanish, Dr. Cuevas is known for his warm, patient, and student-centered approach, helping learners build confidence as they master challenging material. He believes students thrive when they feel understood and supported, and he prioritizes building meaningful learning relationships. In his spare time, he enjoys exploring inclusive design projects and mentoring student organizations about raising disability awareness.

 

Kathleen B.

Kathleen B. is an experienced instructional support tutor and executive functioning coach with more than 35 years of experience working with children in both school settings and private practice. Kathi has served as a teacher, school counselor and school psychologist in the Philadelphia School District. She holds a Ph.D in Psychoeducational Processes and a M.Ed. In Counseling Psychology from Temple University, as well as a B.S. in Elementary Education from Penn State University.

Her educational philosophy focuses on nurturing the whole child by integrating intellectual, emotional and social development. Kathi’s psychology background enables her to identify possible cognitive or social-emotional factors that may contribute to a student’s learning challenges and allows her to tailor instruction to each learner’s unique needs. Dr. Bucci is committed to motivating reluctant learners while maintaining high expectations and fostering confidence and growth.

Kathi offers homework support in reading and writing for elementary through high school students. As an executive functioning coach, Kathi helps students develop study skills, time management strategies, emotional regulation, and metacognitive awareness. Kathi also provides reading tutoring for ISEE and SSAT test prep, providing targeted instruction that strengthens core academic skills while fostering higher-order thinking and reasoning for optima learning outcomes. She has extensive experience supporting neurodivergent learners and is a proud mother of three successful neurodivergent adult children. Her personal journey advocating for her own children has profoundly deepened her understanding of adaptable teaching methods and her appreciation for diverse learning styles.

 

Dr. Hazel R.

“Dr. Hazel”, a talented & vivacious educator, is excited about Teaching & Training you to be at “Your Best”. She teaches all subjects by infusing the Arts and Music, keeping you engaged while retaining the content. Her certifications include: Science, Physical Education, Adapted PE & Spanish for K-12 grades and adults.

Her professional teaching experience started in 2008. Her professional career as an actor, which includes print campaigns, Musicals, Television, and commercials, started at the age of 12. She has taught and worked in Chicago, California, and now Louisiana. Dr. Hazel holds an AA in Mortuary Science, a BAS in Criminal Justice, an MEd in Educational Leadership, and an EdS in Educational Administration.

 

 

Mary Z.

Mary is an Ontario Certified Teacher with a Bachelor of Education from Tyndale University. She has taught Grades 3–5 in the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) and York Region District School Board (YRDSB), and previously taught Grades 1–2 in an international school in China. With over seven years of combined teaching and educational experience, she brings strong instructional expertise to her work with learners from Kindergarten to Grade 8.

Mary specializes in creating supportive, engaging, and student-centered learning environments. She is highly skilled in differentiated instruction, assessment for/as learning, and culturally responsive practices. Her teaching experience includes working with English language learners and students with diverse academic needs, ensuring each child receives personalized guidance.

Mary is proficient in educational technologies such as Google Workspace, Seesaw, ClassDojo, Canva, and Himama, which she uses to enhance communication, track progress, and support interactive learning.

As both an educator and a parent of two young children, Mary understands the importance of patience, consistency, and strong home–school partnerships. She is passionate about helping students build confidence and develop effective learning strategies.

Mary offers tutoring in Math from Kindergarten to Grade 8, and Literacy and general academics from Kindergarten to Grade 6.

 

MILES H.

Miles is a full-time math and science teacher in Manhattan with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Master’s Degree in Childhood Education from Brooklyn College. He specializes in breaking down math and science concepts into understandable and relatable steps so that students build a strong foundation in core subjects. Miles is comfortable working with students from a wide range of backgrounds and skill levels who are ready to apply themselves and achieve success!

Dr. Daniel N.

Daniel Njoku, MD is a dedicated tutor with a strong background in math, science, medical education, and executive functioning. He specializes in helping middle and high school students in Algebra and science build confidence through clear explanations, step-by-step problem solving, and a calm, encouraging teaching style.

Daniela D.

Daniela graduated from The University of Texas at Austin (Hook ’em, Longhorns!) with a bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience, along with a Teaching Minor/Certificate that allowed her to work with students from K–12. Through that experience, she fell in love with teaching, especially helping students who need learning to feel clear, welcoming, and confident.

Neuroscience is deeply rooted in math and science, which allows Daniela to bring a strong academic foundation to both subjects. She is skilled at breaking down complex ideas, modeling step-by-step thinking, and supporting students with strategies that align with how the brain learns best.

Daniela is currently pursuing her Master of Education at Arcadia University, where she is expanding her expertise in effective instruction, equitable practices, and understanding diverse learning needs. Whether working with younger learners or teens, her goal is always the same: to create a warm, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, developing strong math and science skills, and discovering confidence in themselves as learners.

Marnie A.

Marnie holds a Master of Teaching degree from the University of Toronto and is a dedicated high school educator based in Vancouver. With five years of experience teaching at the secondary level, she is committed to fostering meaningful academic and personal growth in her students. Marnie strives to create inclusive, engaging, and supportive learning environments where all learners feel valued and capable of success. She is passionate about promoting student learning growth and is driven by the belief that every student deserves a positive and empowering educational experience.

Throughout her career, Marnie has focused on building strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues, recognizing collaboration as essential to student achievement. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys spending time in the outdoors and travelling to new places. Marnie brings enthusiasm and a student-centered approach to her work each day, aiming to inspire curiosity, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.

Allison A.

Allison A., known as “Dr. Ali” by her students, earned a PhD in Microbiology & Immunology from UTHSCSA, an MBA from UTSA, and a BA in Microbiology from the University of Kansas. When not studying, Dr. Ali was a Teaching Assistant for medical and dental students. After overachieving in school, Dr. Ali became a military contractor (Scientist) and spent many years researching things she can’t tell you about. When the pandemic hit, Dr. Ali began homeschooling her own children. Inspired by this experience, she launched a STEM enrichment business that offers hands-on classes for San Antonio homeschoolers. Dr. Ali is committed to building a meaningful connection with each of her students to make learning more enjoyable and engaging. Learning comes in many forms, including playing games and building projects. It doesn’t have to be a chore or a bore. Dr. Ali is the kind of person who took Calculus 3 in college for funsies. With the right instructor, Science and Math can be fun, interactive, and spark curiosity.

Valerie F.

Valerie F. is an experienced STEM educator and Math and Science tutor. She grew up in Austria and is fluent in German, while currently improving her conversational Spanish. Having moved to Texas as a child, she brings a multicultural perspective that helps her connect with students from all backgrounds and create a welcoming, supportive learning environment.

Valerie earned a Bachelor of Arts in German from Texas State University, completed her Texas Educator Certificate through Lone Star College’s Alternative Certification Program, and holds an Associate of Applied Science in 3D Animation from Austin Community College. She has taught students from 1st through 8th grade in math, science, robotics, drones, public speaking, art, and introductory coding—designing hands-on, project-based lessons using tools like Scratch and mBlock that spark curiosity and strengthen foundational skills.

She has extensive experience supporting ESL learners and students with diverse learning needs, including special needs students inspired by her own family experiences. As a tutor, Valerie focuses on building confidence, conceptual understanding, and problem-solving skills by tailoring instruction to each student’s strengths and learning style.

Outside the classroom, Valerie mentors new educators and develops innovative lessons that blend technology, creativity, and real-world STEM applications. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, cooking international dishes, working on creative projects, practicing her Spanish, and spending time with her multilingual parrot—who she sometimes tries to teach to “code.”
