Elias A.

Elias Allen graduated from the University of Oxford in 2017 with a BA in Politics, Philosophy and Economics. He worked as an SAT prep teacher and tutor for AP US History, AP World History, and AP Literature in DC and Maryland from 2018 to 2019. Elias served as a Peace Corps TEFL Volunteer in Kosovo from 2019-2020 and from 2022-2023, teaching English to K-12 students. In 2020 and 2021 he worked as a tutor in Oregon for elementary and middle school students, tutoring English, reading comprehension, writing, math, and coding. In 2021 Elias taught English and critical thinking skills to students in Kosovo virtually in the Peace Corps Virtual Service Pilot Program. He graduated from Columbia University with an MA in 2025. In his free time Elias enjoys playing basketball, ping pong, and tennis.

 

 

Latoya B.

LaToya is delighted to have the opportunity to work with Prep Academy Tutors. She holds an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education and Care and is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Arts degree. With ten years of experience in education, she has served as a Kindergarten Assistant for eight years, a Second Grade Assistant, and currently works as a First Grade Assistant.

LaToya has a deep passion for working with students and is committed to identifying and addressing learning gaps to support their success. Inspired by her own children and family members’ academic journeys, she takes great pride in their accomplishments—two of her children graduated as Valedictorians in 2023 and 2025. She firmly believes that all children are capable of learning and that meeting them at their individual levels is key to fostering meaningful academic growth.

Laure B.

ENG: Laure is currently in her first undergraduate year of a Bachelor in Kindergarten and Elementary Education with a French immersion minor. She graduated from Cégep du Vieux Montréal with a degree in Social Studies, during which she had the opportunity to participate in a field experience in an Indigenous community in Mexico. She has worked at a summer camp for the past four years, where she has met various groups of kids from different backgrounds. She has a strong passion for culture, particularly in finding ways to integrate it into language teaching.

FR: Laure est actuellement en première année de baccalauréat en éducation à la maternelle et au primaire, avec une mineure en immersion française. Diplômée en sciences humaines du Cégep du Vieux-Montréal, elle a eu l’occasion de participer à un stage dans une communauté autochtone au Mexique. Elle travaille dans un camp d’été depuis quatre ans, où elle a rencontré divers groupes d’enfants de différents milieux. Passionnée par la culture, elle s’efforce de l’intégrer à l’enseignement des langues.

Shannon S.

Shannon S. has been teaching for nine years and tutoring for eight. She currently works as an Autistic Support Early Intervention Teacher for children ages 3–4. Throughout her career, she also taught kindergarten and grades 3–4, gaining a strong understanding of how children learn and grow across different stages.

Shannon has extensive experience supporting children in developing early literacy skills, including pre-reading skills, building confidence in learning to read, and strengthening math skills. She enjoys helping children grow academically and gain confidence in their abilities, tailoring my approach to each child’s unique needs.

Shannon earned her Bachelor’s degree in Allied Health from Widener University, where she also completed her Master of Education and obtained teaching certifications in Preschool–8th Grade for both Regular and Special Education. Shannon is currently pursuing her second Master’s degree in Early Intervention at West Chester University.

Shannon resides in Old City, Philadelphia, and in her free time, she enjoys reading a good book, going for a run, and spending time with friends. She is looking forward to the opportunity to work with you and support your child’s growth and success!

Amanda D.

Amanda is a dedicated teacher with a diverse background in education, counseling, and criminal justice. Amanda grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Phoenix. She spent five years working for a family law firm in Scottsdale, Arizona, gaining valuable experience in legal advocacy and client support.

Amanda’s passion for education led her to teach English as a Second Language online to children ages 4–12 in China while pursuing her Master’s in Early Elementary Education from Cabrini University.

In the fall of 2024, she returned to graduate school and is currently working toward a Master’s in Clinical Counseling and Psychology (LPC) at Chestnut Hill College.

Her professional experience includes serving as an emotional support teacher for grades 6–8 and currently as a Student Support Liaison in Montgomery County, where she assists students in developing social, emotional, and executive functioning skills to achieve their highest academic potential.

Outside of her professional life, Amanda is an avid reader, a passionate supporter of all Philadelphia sports teams, and enjoys baking sourdough bread.

Gayathri (Gaya)

Gayathri, who also goes by Gaya (guy-ah) is a first-year Teacher Candidate in the Primary/Junior division with a degree in Criminology and Justice. She has always had a passion for helping children learn and grow, which has led her to gain valuable experience in a variety of roles, including Afterschool Program Leader and daycare volunteer. These experiences have allowed her to build strong skills in classroom management, creative lesson planning, and connecting with students of all personalities and learning styles.

Gaya believes that learning should be both meaningful and enjoyable. She strives to create a supportive environment where students feel confident to ask questions, make mistakes, and celebrate their progress. Her approach blends structure with creativity, ensuring that each child not only develops their academic skills but also discovers the joy of learning along the way.

With her background in education and dedication to student success, Gaya is excited to help students reach their full potential and feel proud of what they can accomplish.

Muskaan T.

Hi, I’m Muskaan, a graduate student in Bioengineering at Rice University with a strong interdisciplinary foundation in bioinformatics, biology, chemistry, and mathematics. With over five years of tutoring experience, I’ve had the opportunity to guide high school, undergraduate, and graduate students through subjects such as organic chemistry, biology, genetics, calculus, biostatistics etc. My teaching philosophy centers on turning complex topics into clear, engaging lessons that connect theory to real-world applications. Beyond tutoring, my professional experience spans both academic research and clinical practice from analyzing genetic risk factors for cardiovascular disease as a Graduate Researcher at UTHealth Houston, to assisting with pain management and pediatric clinics. These experiences have strengthened my ability to bridge scientific knowledge with practical understanding, which I strive to bring into every session. I’m passionate about helping students not only master challenging material but also build lasting confidence, curiosity, and a genuine appreciation for learning.

Natasha N.

Natasha is a third-year Kindergarten and Elementary Education student from McGill University, specializing in French Immersion teaching. She graduated from Collège Sainte Anne high school and got her CEGEP diploma from Collégial International Sainte Anne. She is an outgoing, friendly, and enthusiastic leader who loves to bring creativity and positivity to every environment she’s part of. Proficient in three languages, English, French, and Italian, Natasha has gained extensive experience working with children of all ages, from toddlers to early teens. As a student teacher, camp counsellor, daycare volunteer, and babysitter, Natasha has gained hands-on knowledge in educational and recreational settings.

In addition to her teaching experience, Natasha is certified by the Canadian Red Cross in General First Aid and Babysitters First Aid, demonstrating her commitment to safety and responsibility when working with children. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys expressing herself through art, practicing yoga, hiking and reading. Looking ahead, Natasha hopes to pursue a master’s degree in Occupational Therapy, where she aims to combine her love for education and child development to support children’s special needs.

Amelia F.

Originally from Bethesda, Maryland, Amelia graduated from The University of Miami with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Exceptional Student Education, earning dual endorsements in ESOL and Reading, and a second major in History. Amelia completed her student teaching semester internship working in a 4th grade gifted classroom. After graduating, Amelia began her professional teaching career at St. Thomas Episcopal Parish School in Coral Gables, Florida, where she was a Kindergarten Associate Teacher. Amelia loved working with her 17 kindergartners and working alongside her co-teacher and at the end of the year she was promoted to a Second Grade Lead Teacher position after just one year of working at St. Thomas!

While teaching second grade in her own classroom, Amelia worked hard to design highly interactive and engaging lessons in literacy, math, and her favorite subject of social studies, while tailoring to each child’s interests, goals and support needs. Amelia cherishes her past year with her second graders and how much they taught her. After living in Miami for six years, she decided to move to New York City to pursue her masters degree. Amelia has just begun earning her Master of Arts in Elementary Inclusive Education, at Teachers College at Columbia University, one of the nation’s top programs in education! She is Florida state certified and is working towards becoming New York State certified.

Beyond her work in the classroom, Amelia has taught and tutored students across a wide range of grade levels and abilities. Her caring and loving nature combined with creativity and empathy, helps empower young students to work hard and feel confident! She specializes in helping elementary aged students strengthen their executive functioning skills, reading comprehension, writing, vocabulary, foundational math skills and history.

In her free time, Amelia substitutes for nearby private schools, babysits, enjoys walking her dog On the West Side Highway, travelling and hanging out with her friends and family!

Sarah C.

Sarah C. was born and raised in Philadelphia. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education from Temple University and later completed a Master of Arts in Teaching. Sarah began her teaching career in Philadelphia, where she taught second grade for five years in diverse urban classrooms before transitioning to the suburban context. These experiences have given her a well-rounded perspective on how to support students across varied backgrounds and learning needs.

Alongside classroom teaching, Sarah has been deeply committed to serving her community. For over a decade, she has volunteered with summer camps, after-school programs, and local church-led initiatives such as annual backpack drives, all designed to support children and families. Her professional and volunteer work reflects her passion to see children thrive both academically and holistically as individuals.
With extensive experience in early intervention, Sarah believes that targeted, intentional instruction is key to ensuring every child’s success. She is committed to building strong relationships with her students and designing learning experiences that foster confidence, growth, and a lifelong love of learning.
