LORI V.

As an essay coach who has trained with and earned certification from The College Essay Experience, Lori is skilled at helping students craft powerful, authentic essays. Lori offers guidance and support through every stage of the essay-writing process, resulting in essays that convey students’ unique personal characteristics.

Lori’s years of professional writing experience guides her approach to college essay coaching. She served as a federal judicial law clerk in the District of Connecticut, practiced litigation for seven years at the international law firm of Davis Polk, and worked for five years as an executive recruiter placing attorneys at law firms across the country.

A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Wesleyan University, Lori earned her Juris Doctor degree, with distinction, from Emory University School of Law. While a law student, Lori earned several academic awards, was elected to the Order of the Coif, and was chosen to serve on the Emory Law Journal as Book Review Editor.

Lori lives in Larchmont, New York with her husband and her three sons.

Danish J.

Danish is a recent graduate of the University of Western Ontario, where he completed his Bachelor of Arts in Economics with a major in Finance and a minor in Data Science. He was awarded the Outstanding International Student Scholarship and participated in programs such as the Scotiabank Career Accelerator and RBC Thinking Virtual Workshop. Danish has applied his academic knowledge through internships in finance, consulting, and research, gaining experience in data analysis, financial modeling, and strategic problem-solving.

Gray B.

Gray B. is a recent graduate of the University of Western Ontario, where she completed her Master’s of Arts in English and her Bachelor of Arts in English, Creative Writing, and Arts and Humanities. She made the Dean’s Honour List in each year of her undergraduate studies and received the University of Western Ontario Gold Medal for the highest grade in the Honours Specialization in Creative Writing and English Language and Literature in 2024. As an MA student, Gray TAed and led tutorials for both English 1027F: The Storyteller’s Art I: Introduction to Narrative and English 1028G: The Storyteller’s Art II: Introduction to Narrative: Comedy.

As a former Student Writer-in-Residence at Western and a current communications professional, Gray’s strength lies in her writing and editing skills. She is skilled at helping students develop both academic and creative works in fields such as English, Theatre, Film, Theory and Criticism, Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies, and Creative Writing. A passionate teacher, Gray is always finding new ways to tailor her approaches to each student to ensure the highest level of comprehension and achievement.

Kajal B.

Kajal is a passionate and experienced educator with over six years of teaching Math, General Science, Social Science, Environmental Science from K-Grade 10.

She holds a Bachelor of Education (with a major in Science and Math) and a Master’s in Physics. After moving to Canada, Kajal pursued a Master of Education from Western University, London. Kajal is now a certified teacher with the Ontario College of Teachers and working as a Supply teacher with the London District Catholic School Board.

Kajal has always had a deep love for children and finds great joy in working with young minds. Her enthusiasm for teaching shines through in every lesson, and she strives to make learning a positive, engaging, and meaningful experience for each student. Kajal is dedicated to helping students build confidence, develop a genuine interest in learning, and reach their full potential.

Anastasis T.

Anastasis Tavropoulos is a recent graduate of the University of Western Ontario, where he completed his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with distinction, earning a 3.80 GPA and making the Dean’s Honours List twice. Growing up in Cyprus, Anastasis developed a deep passion for history and governance, which led him to pursue valuable government experience with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Cyprus as a Research & Policy Intern with the General Secretariat of European Affairs.

He brings extensive tutoring experience from his high school years, where he specialized in helping students excel in English and History writing. As a former student council writer, he understands the importance of clear communication and academic excellence.

Anastasis believes that effective learning happens when students can connect academic concepts to meaningful real-world contexts. Drawing from his diverse professional experiences he helps students understand how their studies apply beyond the classroom. Fiona S.

Fiona S. is a student at Western University specializing in Finance and Economics. Scoring a 100% in Econ1022 and Math1229, she demonstrates skill in a vast number of subjects and is even comfortable with other business courses such as Bus1220, Bus2257, Econ1021 and MOS1023. With previous tutoring experience, she enjoys helping students understand concepts in a story-like flow rather than through repetitive memorization. She began tutoring in high school, teaching mathematics and economics one-on-one to younger students and helping them enjoy the subject while learning more effectively. In her most recent tutoring internship, Fiona prepared lessons in advance and adapted the pace to meet each student’s needs. Beyond academics, she is involved in entrepreneurial initiatives, intramural sports, campus clubs, and serves as a Peer Guide with Western International, where she supports students in adjusting to university life. Fiona sometimes uses humor to break the ice and values creating a calm, welcoming environment that allows her students to feel comfortable, confident, and capable of success. Sela C.

Sela is currently in her final year of her Honours Business Administration degree at Richard Ivey School of Business and Huron University. She is going into her Masters in International Business with Ivey in January 2026. She has taught English and North American cultural studies to Cornell University Graduate International Students with MeeOpp tutoring company, and has travelled to India with Ivey Business School’s LEADER Project to teach a two-week business course to undergraduate students and corporate representatives, including strategy, finance, marketing, operations, and other business fundamentals. She specialises in business, especially preparing for Richard Ivey School of Business courses, BUS1220 and BUS2257, having helped with grading for these courses. Sela grew up in Hong Kong and did IB in high school, and has experience in Mandarin, English, Math and History. Outside of teaching, Sela is the Head Don Resident Advisor at Huron University, and is running her second marathon in October to raise awareness and funds for Epilepsy Southwestern Ontario.

 

 

Candice B.

Candice is a graduate of Western University, where she completed an Honours Specialization in English Literature and Culture. She graduated with distinction—earning no grade below 80 percent throughout her undergraduate career—and was awarded the Modern Studies Prize for excellence in the study of modern thought and culture. She is currently completing her Master’s in Education at Niagara University.

Candice has extensive experience tutoring and teaching at both the secondary and post-secondary levels in a wide range of subjects, including English, French, German, History, Social Science, Vocal Music, and Creative Writing. She is also an accomplished musician, having released a full album on Spotify, along with corresponding music videos and photography, and she intends to publish several written works.

As a student with a unique learning style, Candice specializes in adapting course delivery to ensure the academic success of every student, regardless of perceived disadvantages. She emphasizes difference over deficiency and strives to cultivate a warm, welcoming, and inclusive learning environment.

 

Wajd A.

Wajd is passionate about helping students succeed and currently serves as a teaching assistant at Western University in advanced Medical Science courses. Her teaching journey began in high school, where she volunteered as a kindergarten teacher assistant and a library assistant for Westmount Public School, and then proceeded to one-on-one tutor her high school peers in math and science subjects as requested by teachers. Through these experiences, Wajd has proven to many students that no goal is impossible to achieve, as long as they have the right guidance and resources. Beyond academia, Wajd thrives in leadership and community roles, as highlighted by her three-year experience as a Western International Ambassador, Peer Guide, and a librarian at Weldon. She supports multiple projects yearly, including international orientation planning. As described by many, Wajd is a social butterfly who cherishes opportunities to connect with others and can often be found in taekwondo and belly dancing classes, where she continues to build friendships and explore new passions.

Kat N.

ENG: Kat is a nursing student at McGill University, currently completing her final year in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. She earned her French high school diploma, graduating on the honors roll. Kat has experience tutoring younger students in grades 7 through 9, focusing on science and math within the Ontario curriculum. Through mostly self-organized after-school tutoring sessions, she supported students in working through assigned homework and guided them in preparing for unit tests and exams. She also taught English as a second language to elementary-aged children, where she designed weekly learning plans and created fun, interactive activities to help students practice and showcase their new knowledge.
In addition to her academic teaching, Kat has worked with children in other instructional contexts, most notably as a ski instructor. She taught technical skills as well as encouraged independence, responsibility, and safe decision-making on the slopes.

FR: Kat est étudiante en sciences infirmières à l’Université McGill et termine sa dernière année du baccalauréat en sciences infirmières. Elle a obtenu son diplôme d’études secondaires en français avec distinction. Kat possède de l’expérience en tutorat auprès d’élèves de la 7e à la 9e année, surtout en sciences et en mathématiques selon le curriculum Ontarien. Elle a mis en place des séances de tutorat hors les heures d’école afin de soutenir les élèves dans la réalisation de leurs devoirs et la préparation de leurs évaluations. Elle a également enseigné l’anglais comme langue seconde à des enfants du primaire, pour lesquels elle a conçu des plans d’apprentissage hebdomadaires et créé des activités ludiques et interactives afin de leur permettre de pratiquer et de mettre en valeur leurs nouvelles connaissances.
En plus de son expérience académique, Kat a travaillé avec des enfants dans d’autres contextes d’enseignement, notamment comme monitrice de ski. Elle a enseigné les techniques de base tout en encourageant l’autonomie, le sens des responsabilités et la prise de décisions sécuritaires sur les pentes.
