Joshua N.

Joshua is an educator and graduate student in Geography and Environment at Western University. He holds the Western Certificate in University Teaching and Learning as well as the Teaching in the Canadian Classroom Certificate, demonstrating advanced preparation in inclusive, evidence-based, and student-centered pedagogy within diverse higher education settings. Joshua earned a Master of Arts in Sustainability Studies from Trent University and a Bachelor of Agriculture in Agricultural Economics (Nigeria). His interdisciplinary training integrates human geography, sustainability, environmental sustainability, and agricultural development, providing a strong foundation for teaching and research in geography, climate resilience, and food systems.

Joshua has extensive experience as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Western University and Trent University, where he has supported and led tutorials in courses including Introduction to Human Geography and Geography of Hazards. Shay P.

Shay (she/her) is a Master’s student in the Department of Geography and Environment at Western University, specializing in human geography with a focus on energy policy and renewable energy adoption. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Biology, with minors in Chemistry and Environmental Studies, at Wilfrid Laurier University in 2023. Alongside her studies, Shay works as a Teaching Assistant, where she leads tutorials, grades assignments, and supports students with course material and exam preparation. Additionally, she was a Resident Advisor during her undergraduate studies and later as a Community Advisor at Georgian College.
Struggling herself in her first year of undergrad with working in an academic environment that’s a step-up from high school, Shay understands that academic progress is not linear, and that it looks different for everybody. Combined with her experience of working with diverse sets of students, Shay hopes to create a focused, but welcoming and stress-free learning environment that caters to different communication styles and learning needs.
In her free time, Shay enjoys going to the gym, taking walks with her dogs (Gucci and Kiro), and spending time in the greenhouse, bringing her love of science and the environment into her teaching style.

Ahmed A-B

EN: Ahmed is a PhD student in Neuroscience at McGill University, where he also completed his master’s degree after earning a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Science from the University of Ottawa. Throughout his academic career, he has published research, mentored undergraduate students, and tutored at both the secondary and post-secondary levels, specializing in biology, physiology, biochemistry, psychology, and research methods.
Ahmed is passionate about making complex concepts clear, engaging, and approachable. His student-centered approach focuses on building critical thinking, confidence, and a deep understanding of the material. He believes that every student can succeed when given the right tools, guidance, and learning strategies.
Outside of academics, Ahmed enjoys playing soccer, training in kickboxing, reading, and spending time with his cats.

Aish M.

Aish is a 4th year student at the University of Waterloo, where she is pursuing an Honours Arts and Business degree with a major in Psychology and Business, along with a minor in Human Resource Management. With a strong academic foundation and a passion for understanding how people learn, Aishwarya brings a thoughtful, student-centered approach to tutoring.

She has experience working in a variety of roles that require communication, mentorship, and adaptability, including her role as a Peer Leader where she supports and guides first-year students. Aishwarya has also led initiatives focused on education and personal development, including founding a psychology-focused club that promoted learning and well-being through interactive discussions and events.

She believes that every student learns differently, and she focuses on creating a comfortable and encouraging environment where students feel confident asking questions and exploring new concepts. She is especially passionate about helping students build strong foundations, improve their confidence, and develop skills that go beyond the classroom.

Outside of academics, Aish enjoys planning creative events, painting, and travelling, always looking for new experiences that inspire creativity and fresh perspectives.

Hannah M.

Hannah defended her Ph.D. in Gender, Feminist, and Women’s Studies at York University in 2025. Her research includes girl activists, their politics, and their relationships with their mothers and mother figures. You can find some of her research and writing in Atlantis, Sex Education, The Conversation, and #Barbie and Social Media: Digital Discourses and Mattel’s Celebrity Doll. She earned her Hon. B.A. in History and Sexuality Studies from Huron University College and an MA in Gender and Sexuality Studies at Western. Beyond her teaching and research, Hannah co-founded the Open Digital Literacy and Access Network (ODLAN).

Hannah has extensive experience as a teaching assistant and course instructor in Gender Studies, Sexuality Studies, and Childhood Studies at Western, York, and Brock Universities. In addition to these content areas, she is experienced in helping undergraduate students develop foundational university skills, such as using academic libraries, assessing sources, developing thesis statements, and writing scholarly papers.

Hannah is also available to tutor general academic skills for the liberal arts for both university and high school students, including essay writing, academic research, assessing sources, developing topics and arguments, and creating thesis statements.

Ayush is an Honours Arts and Business student at the University of Waterloo, majoring in Economics with a Diploma in Sustainability. With a diverse professional background that includes experience in investment management, tax accounting, and marketing, Ayush specializes in making complex, technical subjects approachable and relevant to everyday life.

His tutoring philosophy centers on building a genuine connection with his students to foster the confidence they need to succeed independently. By combining his analytical skills from the world of finance with a personalized, one-on-one approach, Ayush ensures that lessons are both engaging and results-oriented. Shauna K.

Shauna has been teaching, tutoring, and helping students achieve academic success for more than a decade.

A California native, Shauna has a graduate and undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences from UCSD. She also has a TESOL certificate to teach English as a foreign language, and many years of in-person and online SAT and ACT coaching — which is her specialty.

Shauna is highly skilled in helping students excel in a wide range of subjects from science and math to language arts and Spanish.

She is an expert at helping all students learn (and master) executive functioning skills such as planning, time management, study habits, and effective study techniques (how to study). She believes that the confidence gained through these skills propel students forward and lay the groundwork for lifelong success.

Ashina K.

Ashina is a professional mathematics tutor with over 8 years of teaching experience and a Mathematics Hons degree. She specializes in tutoring high school, IB, and university students. Shawn M.

Shawn is an enthusiastic math, physics, and computer science tutor who believes that slow and steady doesn’t just win the race—it transforms how students see themselves. Currently pursuing an Honours BSc in Mathematics & Physics with The Open University (2021–present), Shawn has already earned a Diploma of Higher Education in Math & Physics from the same institution and a Certificate of Higher Education in Computer Science from the University of London. For three years, he has worked as a teaching fellow for fellow university students, guiding them through subjects that often feel impossible—mathematics, physics, algorithms, data structures, and the fundamentals of computer science. Shawn’s secret weapon? Epic music playing in the background during his own study sessions. (He’s happy to share his playlist.) Outside of tutoring, Shawn writes novels, reads everything he can get his hands on, and watches far too many films and anime series. His teaching philosophy is simple and fierce: anybody can do anything. Khizer M.

Khizer M. graduated from the University of Alberta with a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering, specializing in process control and advanced modelling techniques. With a strong academic background in mathematics and science, Khizer specializes in tutoring subjects such as algebra, calculus, chemistry, and thermodynamics. He has extensive experience explaining complex concepts in a simple, clear, and structured way, helping students build both understanding and confidence. Known for his patient and supportive approach, Khizer adapts his teaching style to match each student’s learning needs and pace.
