Ollie J.

Ollie is currently studying Environmental and Sustainability Sciences (Biology) at Concordia University. He graduated John Abbott College on the honour roll, having completed two internships in environmental science research. He has experience tutoring learners from the elementary to the CEGEP level across a wide variety of subjects.

Ollie is committed to making every student feel welcome. As someone who has struggled with executive functioning, he has personal experience learning how to build routines and study effectively. Ollie believes that teaching learners to work with their unique brains is key to building long-lasting academic habits.

In his free time, Ollie enjoys crocheting, sewing, and embroidery. He also plays the drums!

Audrey L.

Audrey is an experienced tutor with a strong motivation for academia. She has studied in France, England, and Canada, earning a bachelor’s degree in Biology and a master’s degree in Public Health. She currently works in clinical research where she manages complex tasks in a detail-oriented environment. Her background in science has taught her the importance of delivering high-quality work allowing her to tackle tasks with rigour and efficiency.

As the older sister of two school-aged children, Audrey has plenty of hands-on experience helping with homework and encouraging their learning. She uses fun and effective teaching techniques that work well with younger children, like using colorful visuals, educational games, and breaking down concepts into simple steps. Audrey prioritizes patience and adaptability to connect with students and meet their individual needs. She focuses on clear communication, actively listens to her students, and uses positive reinforcement to build their confidence and motivation.

Audrey is passionate about helping kids feel confident in what they learn and sparking their curiosity about new ideas. She believes that developing these skills early not only helps children do well now but also sets them up for success in the future. Audrey is dedicated to helping children grow academically and personally.

Alex D-P

Alex holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Biology and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Experimental Surgery. With a long-term goal of becoming a doctor, he is driven by a commitment to advancing medical knowledge and improving patient care.

Alongside his academic pursuits, Alex has over four years of tutoring experience in math and science. He is passionate about helping students succeed, using a teaching approach that emphasizes clarity and patience. Alex is dedicated to mentoring and motivating students, supporting their growth both personally and professionally. Through tutoring and mentorship, he aims to inspire resilience and confidence in each student, helping them navigate challenges and reach their fullest potential.

Daniel S.

Daniel is a third-year undergraduate student at UBC studying the Neuromechanical and Physiological Sciences under the School of Kinesiology. His academic pursuits encompass the disciplines of biomechanics, anatomy and physiology, and developmental psychology. Over the past 3 years, Daniel has had independent tutoring experience with kids as young as 10 and as old as 17, guiding students through junior-level subjects such as introductory paragraph formation and fraction addition, all the way to senior-level sciences, pre-calculus, and analytical essay writing.

Daniel’s teaching style focuses on building the student’s confidence in navigating new material, with the ultimate goal of student independence. Through comprehensive communication and goal planning, Daniel aims to be reliable and trustworthy as an academic resource for his students.

Daniel enjoys playing baseball, silversmithing, and watching sad movies in his spare time. His current professional ambitions include kinesthetic research, and personal training/ coaching.

Haisam Z.

Haisam is an Ontario Certified Teacher. He grew up in the Middle East, and moved to Canada when he was 14. He completed his schooling and attained his Bachelors of Science and Education from Western University and U of T in 2013 and 2015, respectively. He is confident that he has the skills and qualifications as well as the passion to work with high school students. Having worked as a high school teacher since 2016, from private schools such as Blyth Academy and Burlington Royal Arts Academy, and several international high schools while abroad in the U.K., followed by securing a position as a teacher within the York Region and Simcoe County district school boards where he works currently, Haisam feels that his past work experience would make him an ideal candidate to provide one on one instruction as a high school tutor. Haisam has continually tutored high schoolers which has further helped him realize the beauty of inspiring and motivating others to be the best they can be, and it has convinced him that the teaching profession is his passion. As a teacher, Haisam seeks to ignite the passion and innate curiosity within the students to want to learn by instilling within them the desire for self-discovery. Once instilled and the interest is developed, he guides and facilitates the students’ personal journey of self-discovery. This passion is what would drive them towards an enduring learning experience. Furthermore, he’s a firm believer in developing a rapport with students to make every moment of their time during his teaching as comfortable and welcoming as possible. Haisam is also an avid fan and practitioner of several sports such as amateur wrestling, boxing, mixed martial arts, track and field, and badminton.  As a tutor, Haisam can help students ace their performance in sciences and mathematics, and also help them be better athletes as a bonus! Joseph’s passion for education stems from his time working as a research scientist at Princeton University and Rowan University. Through mentoring students in higher education, he discovered his interest in tutoring. Tutoring, like science, is a dynamic field where great tutors always observe, assess, design, research, and take new approaches to engage their students. Currently, as a high-school teacher, Joseph uses these skills to identify the strengths of each student and incorporates them into addressing their specific needs. He focuses on a relationship-based approach in education, in which he relates the topic to the everyday lives of his students. He has a proven record of success in AP Biology and Regents-level sciences, such as Living Environment and Chemistry.
