Kat N.

ENG: Kat is a nursing student at McGill University, currently completing her final year in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. She earned her French high school diploma, graduating on the honors roll. Kat has experience tutoring younger students in grades 7 through 9, focusing on science and math within the Ontario curriculum. Through mostly self-organized after-school tutoring sessions, she supported students in working through assigned homework and guided them in preparing for unit tests and exams. She also taught English as a second language to elementary-aged children, where she designed weekly learning plans and created fun, interactive activities to help students practice and showcase their new knowledge.
In addition to her academic teaching, Kat has worked with children in other instructional contexts, most notably as a ski instructor. She taught technical skills as well as encouraged independence, responsibility, and safe decision-making on the slopes.

Elle a obtenu son diplôme d’études secondaires en français avec distinction. Kat possède de l’expérience en tutorat auprès d’élèves de la 7e à la 9e année, surtout en sciences et en mathématiques selon le curriculum Ontarien. Elle a mis en place des séances de tutorat hors les heures d’école afin de soutenir les élèves dans la réalisation de leurs devoirs et la préparation de leurs évaluations. En plus de son expérience académique, Kat a travaillé avec des enfants dans d’autres contextes d’enseignement, notamment comme monitrice de ski. Madeleine A.

Madeleine is a graduate of McGill University with a Bachelor of Science in biology and environment. Although biology, math, and chemistry are her main areas of interest, she is passionate about all branches of science. Over the past two years, she has conducted research in the McGill Biology Department and has been recognized with multiple awards, including the Dean’s Multidisciplinary Research Award. In addition to her research, Madeleine has taught coding to graduate students through the Geography Department at McGill. In addition to her academic accomplishments, Madeleine is extremely well-organized and dedicated to helping students develop successful long-term organizational skills. She also brings valuable experience with the university application process and, as the former president of a McGill student club, is well-equipped to support students planning for higher education. Madeleine’s interests include volleyball, guitar, and sharks. Overall, Madeleine can provide well-rounded, interesting lessons that position students for long-term success because of her passion for math and science, as well as her excellent organizational abilities.

Robert P.

Robert has over 15 years of teaching experience in high school biology, computer science, and health sciences. Kathleen K.

Kathleen is a 5th year teacher with a M.Ed in STEM education. Whether you’re struggling with basic concepts like cell structure and genetics, or diving into more complex topics like ecology, evolution, or biochemistry, I am here to guide you every step of the way. With an undergraduate degree in sports medicine, she has a strong understanding of anatomy and physiology, while also having a strong background in botany and environmental science. She enjoys studying the environment, especially the ocean habits of the marine life here in Florida. Her strengths in teaching for us on advanced placement biology, anatomy and physiology, and all levels of environmental science. She has a strong focus on project based and inquiry learning and works hard to have learning fun!

YINI L.

Yini Liu is a highly accomplished educator with over seven years of international teaching experience in China. Originally from Southern China, she moved to Toronto in 2010 and pursued an undergraduate degree in Biochemistry – Biomedical Research at McMaster University. Graduating at the top of her class, she received multiple prestigious accolades, including the National Canadian Chemistry Merit Award. Dedicated to professional growth, Yini earned her IB Certificate in Teaching and Learning while teaching in China and participated in an AP Chemistry workshop by the College Board, further enhancing her expertise in advanced science education.

Yini’s impact as an educator is evident in her students’ outstanding achievements. In 2022, her AP Chemistry students achieved a success rate 5.5 times higher than the international average, and one of her students earned the Global Gold Award for the Canadian Chemistry Contest. Her ability to inspire and challenge students has made her a sought-after mentor in the field. Currently, Yini is furthering her dedication to education by completing her Master of Teaching at the University of Toronto, reinforcing her commitment to lifelong learning and academic excellence.

CALEB E.

Caleb holds an Honours Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto, with majors in Biology and Environmental Science. He also possesses an Educational Support certificate from Sheridan College, equipping him with the skills to effectively assist students across diverse levels and learning challenges.

Caleb’s expertise spans the sciences, mathematics, and multiple languages, including Spanish. His ability to teach Spanish adds a valuable dimension to his skill set, allowing him to connect with students seeking to enhance their language proficiency. His patient, empathetic, and relatable approach to teaching ensures students feel supported and motivated in their learning journey.

With extensive experience as both a tutor and an instructor, Caleb has worked in various settings, including one-on-one, group, in-person, and virtual formats. His most recent role involved delivering ESL courses alongside Science and Math instruction to international students, demonstrating his versatility and cultural adaptability. Furthermore, Caleb is highly proficient in online teaching, utilizing digital platforms to create engaging and effective learning experiences.

Jonah P-B

FR: Jonah étudie présentement en génie aérospatial à l’École Polytechnique de Montréal. Avant cela, il a étudié en sciences de la santé au collège Jean-de-Brébeuf. Il a des connaissances approfondies des programmes de physique et de mathématique du secondaire au CÉGEP que ce soit l’algèbre, le calcul différentiel et intégral, la statique ou la mécanique.

Parmi, ses expériences précédentes, il a fait du tutorat pour ses pairs à partir du secondaire, où il les a aidé dans les matières plus difficiles pour eux. Il a aussi de l’expérience en éducation spécialisé, ce qui lui a permis de développer sa patience et sa douceur.

Sa méthode d’enseignement est centrée sur la compréhension des besoins individuels de chaque étudiant et il essaye de rendre des problèmes complexes plus accessibles avec des explications claires et des exemples concrets.

 

ENG: Jonah is an aerospace engineering student at Polytechnique Montreal. He attended CEGEP at Brebeuf where he studied health sciences. He has in-depth knowledge of the maths and physics curriculums from high school up to CEGEP from algebra and calculus to statics and mechanics.

His previous experiences include peer tutoring both at High School and CEGEP, where he helped his peers excel in areas in which they were lacking.

His tutoring philosophy is centered on understanding the individual learning needs of students and making complex concepts relatable with easily understandable explanations that relate to concrete situations.

 

Harish R.

Harish holds a Master’s degree in Neuroscience from McGill University. He has a passion for teaching and takes the utmost pride in helping to bring out the best in his peers. Harish is also a great communicator, adaptable, and very passionate about the material he teaches.

Ollie J.

Ollie is currently studying Environmental and Sustainability Sciences (Biology) at Concordia University. He graduated John Abbott College on the honour roll, having completed two internships in environmental science research. He has experience tutoring learners from the elementary to the CEGEP level across a wide variety of subjects.

Ollie is committed to making every student feel welcome. As someone who has struggled with executive functioning, he has personal experience learning how to build routines and study effectively. Ollie believes that teaching learners to work with their unique brains is key to building long-lasting academic habits.

In his free time, Ollie enjoys crocheting, sewing, and embroidery. He also plays the drums!

Audrey L.

Audrey is an experienced tutor with a strong motivation for academia. She has studied in France, England, and Canada, earning a bachelor’s degree in Biology and a master’s degree in Public Health. She currently works in clinical research where she manages complex tasks in a detail-oriented environment. Her background in science has taught her the importance of delivering high-quality work allowing her to tackle tasks with rigour and efficiency.

As the older sister of two school-aged children, Audrey has plenty of hands-on experience helping with homework and encouraging their learning. She uses fun and effective teaching techniques that work well with younger children, like using colorful visuals, educational games, and breaking down concepts into simple steps. Audrey prioritizes patience and adaptability to connect with students and meet their individual needs. She focuses on clear communication, actively listens to her students, and uses positive reinforcement to build their confidence and motivation.

Audrey is passionate about helping kids feel confident in what they learn and sparking their curiosity about new ideas. She believes that developing these skills early not only helps children do well now but also sets them up for success in the future.
