Marcus S.

EN: Marcus is a recent Master’s graduate in Chemistry and Biochemistry from Concordia University, with a focus on biology and biochemistry. He also holds an Honours BSc in Biochemistry from Bishop’s University, where he received multiple academic awards.
With over six years of university-level tutoring experience, Marcus excels at making complex scientific concepts clear and accessible. He tutors biology and chemistry at all levels, and mathematics through Secondary 5. His particular strengths are in biochemistry, molecular biology, organic chemistry, and general chemistry.
At Concordia, Marcus served for three years as a Teaching Assistant for undergraduate biochemistry courses (CHEM271 and CHEM375), leading laboratory sessions, tutorials, and grading. He was also the first student in the department selected to independently design and deliver supplemental biochemistry lectures. He created and taught a 30-lecture series, later transforming it into a 19-part educational video series now used as a long-term university learning resource.

Avec plus de six ans d’expérience en tutorat au niveau universitaire, Marcus excelle dans l’art de rendre les concepts scientifiques complexes clairs et accessibles. Il offre du tutorat en biologie et en chimie à tous les niveaux, ainsi qu’en mathématiques jusqu’en 5e secondaire. Ses principaux domaines d’expertise sont la biochimie, la biologie moléculaire, la chimie organique et la chimie générale.
À l’Université Concordia, Marcus a travaillé pendant trois ans comme auxiliaire d’enseignement pour des cours de biochimie de premier cycle (CHEM271 et CHEM375), où il animait des séances de laboratoire et des tutoriels, en plus de participer à la correction. Il a également été le premier étudiant du département sélectionné pour concevoir et donner de façon autonome des cours complémentaires en biochimie.
Dans ce cadre, il a créé et enseigné une série de 30 cours, qu’il a ensuite transformée en une série éducative de 19 vidéos, aujourd’hui utilisée comme ressource d’apprentissage à long terme par l’université.
Passionné par l’enseignement, Marcus adapte son approche au style d’apprentissage de chaque élève afin de l’aider à mieux comprendre les notions difficiles, à développer sa confiance et à atteindre ses objectifs scolaires.

EN: Sydney is a final-year pharmacy student with a passion for science and education. Through her daily interactions with patients, she has developed strong communication skills and enjoys making complex scientific concepts easy to understand. She is committed to helping students build confidence in science while fostering effective study habits and a lifelong love of learning. Outside of her studies, Sydney enjoys running, swimming, and painting.

FR: Sydney est étudiante de pharmacie en dernière année, avec une passion pour les sciences et l’éducation. Grâce à ses interactions quotidiennes avec les patients, elle a développé de solides compétences en communication et aime rendre les concepts scientifiques complexes faciles à comprendre. Elle est dédiée à aider les élèves à avoir de la confiance en eux même en science tout en développant de bonnes habitudes d’étude. En dehors de ses études, Sydney aime la course à pied, la natation et la peinture.

Beverlyn J.

Beverlyne J. is a mathematics and chemistry educator from Kenya.

As a child, Beverlyne had a strong interest in problem-solving and science, which led her to study higher math and chemistry and pursue a career in teaching and research.

She received her B.Ed. in Mathematics and Chemistry and her MS in Applied Mathematics from the University of Nairobi, in Kenya. She did her postgraduate studies at Uppsala University in Sweden.

She has taught math and chemistry at several different levels: lecturing at the University of Nairobi, serving as the head of the Mathematics Department at the Jaffery Academy (Nairobi), and working as a lecturer/tutor for private clients.

Outside the classroom, she enjoys playing badminton, conducting research in mathematical modeling, and mentoring young scholars in STEM.

Her goal is to make mathematics meaningful and accessible, and help students build the confidence and critical-thinking skills that apply outside the classroom.
