Anthony (AJ) L.B.

Anthony (“AJ”) La Barca is a Ph.D. student in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder. He holds a B.S. in Physics & Astronomy with minors in Computer Science, Mathematics, and Music from the University of Rochester. AJ has extensive experience tutoring and teaching at the middle-school, high-school, and collegiate levels, serving as a teaching assistant in both physics and aerospace engineering courses. Proficient across math, physics, computer science, and engineering topics, he strives to make complex concepts accessible and engaging for students of all levels. Outside of academia, AJ is an avid rock climber, skier, and photographer, often combining his love for science and the outdoors through astrophotography.

Madison R.

Madison is a 3rd year Ph.D. student studying Aerospace Engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder. Her research is on fixed-wing drones that provide aerial information gathering. Throughout undergrad and graduate school, Madison has been a Teaching Assistant in the aerospace department for various aerodynamics and aircraft dynamics classes.

She has spent the last 5 years tutoring middle and high school math and science, as well as SAT/ACT prep. During her time as an undergraduate student, she has worked for Disability Services at CU Boulder, where she was a peer mentor for students in applied math. Needless to say, she has an immense passion for education and mentorship!

Outside of school, Madison can be found with her two horses, Penelope and Daisy, who she trains and competes in three-day eventing and show jumping — or coaching young equestrians!

Jazzmyn H.

Jazzmyn H. is currently pursuing her Master of Public Health at UTHealth Houston with a concentration in Health Promotion and Education. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Public Health from The University of Texas at Austin, graduating with a focus in Social Behavioral Sciences and Pre-Health Professions.

Jazzmyn has several years of experience teaching and tutoring high school mathematics—including Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry—as well as Chemistry. She has taught in classroom settings at Brentwood Christian School and through organizations such as Catapult Learning and Varsity Tutors, where she became known for her patient explanations, creative problem solving, and ability to help students gain confidence in challenging subjects.

In addition to her teaching background, Jazzmyn has contributed to curriculum design projects, developed culturally relevant educational materials, and created supplemental resources to support diverse learners. She believes that every student can thrive when they feel supported and encouraged, and she tailors her approach to meet each child’s unique needs and learning style.

Outside of tutoring, Jazzmyn enjoys traveling, exploring Austin’s coffee shops, and spending time with family and friends. She finds working with students deeply rewarding and is committed to helping them achieve both their academic goals and long-term success.

Alexander Z.

Alex graduated from the University of California Los Angeles with a Bachelors of Science in Bioengineering. He is currently studying at the University of Pennsylvania pursuing a Masters in Bioengineering. Alex began his tutoring journey during his undergraduate years by tutoring students in upper division bioengineering courses. He also used his Mandarin skills to support many international students located in China looking to apply to US universities. After graduating from UCLA, he decided to take a few gap years to pursue his love for traveling abroad. More importantly, he began his professional tutoring career during these years as well. He worked one on one with many students ranging from high school all the way to college undergraduates, primarily helping them excel in their math and science classes. He also worked at the Princeton Review to tutor high school students on the SAT and ACT. Alex has developed a deep passion not only for supporting students academically but also for building a real relationship with students. He believes that this is the only way to understand them well enough to help push them to their fullest potential.

Lisa P.

Lisa has a bachelor’s degree from The University of Pittsburgh majoring in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics. Lisa began her teaching experience very early as a tutor then an adjunct professor at a community college. After moving to Florida in 2019, Lisa obtained her teaching certification through the Florida Department of Education in Mathematics 6-12, Exceptional Student Education, Physical Education 6-12, Elementary Education and ESOL. Lisa has been employed with the Sarasota County School District since 2022 and has experience working on staff in the classroom as an ESE and mathematics teacher both in middle and high school. She currently teaches high school Mathematics at a charter school in Manatee county full time. Lisa has three children and enjoys time at the beach, tennis, skiing and reading in her spare time.

Marah is a McGill University graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and eight years of tutoring experience. She offers support in mathematics and science subjects, including Calculus, Linear Algebra, Physics, and general Science, helping students strengthen their understanding and improve performance.

Her tutoring career began at John Abbott College where professors recognized her academic excellence and recommended her to assist other students. She was later officially hired by the college to tutor math, chemistry, and physics, gaining two years of daily hands-on experience with students. A specialist in physics education, Franco holds a Master’s degree in Physics Education from Concordia University (CGPA 4.15/4.30) and an Honours B.Sc. in Physics with a Minor in Computer Science from McGill University (CGPA 3.99/4.00). He has over a decade of experience teaching and tutoring science, physics, and mathematics to high school and CEGEP students in both English and French.

From 2020 to 2025, Franco taught physics and mathematics in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme in Japan. He developed and delivered engaging lessons grounded in research-based pedagogy, guided numerous student research projects, and led interdisciplinary science initiatives. His students consistently achieved results above the IB world average, and he received his school’s Top Teacher Award in 2023.

Franco’s expertise is reinforced by extensive professional development in physics and mathematics education, including training in equity, diversity, and inclusion in STEM and a teaching mini-certificate from SALTISE on pedagogical design and active learning strategies. Anvitha E.

Anvitha Ellanki is a dedicated tutor from San Antonio, Texas, who blends academic excellence with a deep passion for mentoring and service. Graduated in the top 2% of her class at Health Careers High School and an AP Scholar, she has completed 15 AP courses and earned college credits in subjects like medical terminology, calculus, and English. Beyond the classroom, she’s led health fairs, coached debate students, and conducted research on everything from cactus moths to stem cell therapy for neurodegenerative diseases. Zachary M.

Zachary M. is presently in his last year of his study for his dual masters in math and physics at UTSA. Some may say that in doing so, he is trying to prolong his adolescence and avoid adulthood. But truth be told, Zach is very passionate about his studies. This was not always the case. Admittedly, Zach was mathematically challenged in middle school (his mom would help him with his algebra homework). But something clicked for him in high school. He took every AP math and science class that he could and went so far as to participate in academic UIL. After graduation from high school, Zach began studying math and physics at UTSA. He took up a job as a physics tutor on a whim but came to discover that he really enjoys helping people learn. Now as a graduate student, Zach teaches introductory physics labs. In doing so, he does his best to accommodate all of his students while simultaneously emphasizing the mathematical and theoretical underpinnings of physics.

Tammy G.

Tammy graduated from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Secondary Mathematics Education, and completed a Masters Degree in Education from Viterbo University in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. Tammy has taught high school mathematics the past 25+ years in Appleton, Wisconsin, Fort Myers and Sarasota, Florida. She has tutored both middle and high school students for homework help, to pass ACT/SAT, PSAT, CLT, and the HESI Nursing Exam. She is very patient and nonjudgmental. It makes her happy when a student finally “gets it” understands a concept they couldn’t previously.

Outside of school, Tammy enjoys spending time with her family, going to the beach and reading.
