Charles B.
Dr. Barclay is a seasoned educator with over 20 years of teaching experience. He has taught learners in every grade and over fifteen subjects, including Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Earth Science, Reading, and Language Arts. Dr. Barclay holds a Bachelor’s degree with a double major in Political Science and Philosophy from the University of Maryland at College Park, a Master’s degree in Philosophy from Western Michigan University, a Master’s of Science in Logic, Computation and Philosophy from Carnegie Mellon University, and PhD in Philosophy from the University of Maryland at College Park. Dr. Barclay’s pedagogy has been acknowledged by others. In 2019, he was awarded the Graduate School’s Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award for AY 2018. This achievement is given to the top 2% of 4,000 Graduate Assistants in a given year.
Dr. Barclay has a range of experience in private tutoring, including tutoring students whose native language is not English. He understands that tutoring is not a one-size-fits-all approach, and, consequently, aims to work with students and their families to understand the unique needs of the students. To that end, Dr. Barclay tries to create a tailored tutoring approach, specific to the learner by walking the student through a range of assignments, including homework assignments and projects. When necessary, Dr. Barclay even communicates with the student’s teachers about missed work and additional resources that could enrich the student’s education. His commitment and wholistic approach to tutoring is seen in the success of his students – many of whom see significant improvements in test scores and overall GPA.
Finally, it should be noted that the breadth of Dr. Barclay’s teaching experience has given him opportunities to teach a wide range of students from the general student population to students with learning, mental, or physical disabilities. Indeed, some of Dr. Barclay’s students with special needs continued to be tutored by him even after graduating high school. Lisa P.
Lisa has a bachelor’s degree from The University of Pittsburgh majoring in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics. Lisa began her teaching experience very early as a tutor then an adjunct professor at a community college. After moving to Florida in 2019, Lisa obtained her teaching certification through the Florida Department of Education in Mathematics 6-12, Exceptional Student Education, Physical Education 6-12, Elementary Education and ESOL. Lisa has been employed with the Sarasota County School District since 2022 and has experience working on staff in the classroom as an ESE and mathematics teacher both in middle and high school. She currently teaches high school Mathematics at a charter school in Manatee county full time. Lisa has three children and enjoys time at the beach, tennis, skiing and reading in her spare time.
Dr. Stephen H
Dr. Stephen Hackler holds a PhD from the University of Pennsylvania in Physics and Bachelors degrees from Rutgers University in Physics and Computer Science. They’ve worked as an instructor at Penn and Swarthmore and know what it takes to excel in the college classroom. They use thoughtful and compassionate teaching strategies to identify each student’s unique skills and specific needs and help them to improve both their performance and their understanding of challenging material. Stephen is attentive to the many stresses that students experience in todays highly competitive academic environment and is passionate about supporting the wellbeing of their students as they work to deepen their understanding and master challenging content.
Michael B.
Michael is a third-year undergraduate student at Western University pursuing an Honours Double Major in Biochemistry and Interdisciplinary Medical Sciences. An aspiring physician with a passion for learning, he was recognized with AP Calculus and Statistics awards in 2023, scoring top marks on AP exams, and has since maintained a near-perfect 3.94 GPA. Since 2019, Michael has worked in education, serving as a teaching assistant at Spirit of Math Schools and Villanova College, as well as a private tutor. As a math and science mentor, he teaches with enthusiasm, inspiring students to approach science with curiosity and discovery. Outside academics, Michael enjoys playing the saxophone, chess, golf, and biking. In addition, Michael devotes his time to social work by volunteering and his local food bank as well as acting as the founder of the BEAM group, a student initiative targeted at providing academic mentorship to underprivileged students.
Tom B.
The joy and challenge of mathematics has always been a large part of Tom’s life, from participating in maths olympiads and running revision classes at school to his masters’ degree at Warwick University and beyond to ‘recreational’ reading on infinity, statistics or symmetry. He finds the purity of the subject, the neatness and objectivity, fascinating, and brings his enthusiasm and deep understanding to his teaching.
Since teaching roles at University, Tom has been accepting students for tuition both online and in person, and ten years after graduating he has coached dozens of students through their studies and exams at a high level. With a focus on high school math and beyond, Tom brings an understanding of calculus and algebra which allows him to provide students operating at the upper end of their school careers with insights and context they will not find on the regular curriculum, and does so in a friendly and informal manner.
Outside of mathematics, Tom is a keen outdoorsman and can often be found attached to a rope and up a cliff or running on the many trails in the sea to sky corridor (all of which seem to be uphill). He enjoys creative writing, loud music and runs a dungeons and dragons game for friends in Squamish and Whistler.

Marah is a McGill University graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and eight years of tutoring experience. Her tutoring career began at John Abbott College where professors recognized her academic excellence and recommended her to assist other students. Matt Tracy has a B.A. in Economics from Fordham University in New York City and a proven track record of helping students excel in college entrance exams (ACT and SAT) and their English and mathematics courses. With three years of tutoring experience, Matt is an expert at guiding students through K-12 level reading, writing, and English, as well at preparing high-school students for their ACT and SAT exams.
Matt’s teaching experience began in high school when he started an SAT Prep Club to help his classmates do as well if not better than him on the test. His passion for education grew while working at the Writing Lab Center (two years) at Fordham. This experience gave Matt the opportunity to support students from all background and help them reach their full potential.

Antonio Rios is a bilingual English-Spanish educator with over ten years of experience in higher education, professional training, and instructional design. With over 20 years of technology and global business experience, with companies such as Oracle, Accenture, AT&T and Cisco Systems, Mark has brought 2 software products to market, opened and directed a software company, Sigma Systems, in Europe, assisted owners in raising capital from leading firms such as Morgan Stanley in New York, Cisco Systems in San Jose, Ca. and Kleiner Perkins Caufield Beyers (arguably the no. 1 VC in USA at the time with Vinod Khosla) in San Francisco.
Mark has won 2 awards in 6 years teaching in a Master’s program at Schulich Executive Education at York University. A passionate life-long learner, Mark has developed and licensed courses to both York University and University of Toronto.
Concurrent with his PhD (candidate) studies in AI, Mark is developing and teaching courses in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) with Agents. As such, Mark is well versed at Mathematics of AI with Data Science. Mark also teaches at 2 community colleges in Toronto.
Marks’ teaching approach is a focus on understanding theory and encouraging practice, practice, practice. Both enable the student to be successful at answering “new” and “unseen” questions on tests.
