Thad F.

With a bachelor’s degree from the Air Force Academy and a master’s from theUniversity of Dayton, Thad’s credentials and experience run broad and deep. For over 30 years he has taught math, science, and English at the university level–all the way down through first grade. Thad’s passion and joy is helping students and their families overcome academic challenges and grow to thrive at the highest levels of their potential.

In his free time, Thad enjoys his six children and three grandchildren, tennis, hiking, photography, swing dancing, and food with his wife, Beth. He almost never meets a student with whom he does not enjoy working, and he hopes to continue teaching as long as his health allows–at least 50 more years!

Kristin Haley is a dedicated educator with a passion for empowering students to reach their full potential. Currently pursuing a certification in education, Kristin holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and brings a unique perspective to her teaching approach.

With three years of experience as a long-term substitute teacher in elementary education, Kristin has honed her skills in creating engaging and effective learning experiences. She understands the importance of personalized instruction and strives to tailor her tutoring sessions to meet the individual needs of each student.

Kristin’s journey in education began with her fascination with sociology, where she explored the complexities of human behavior and societal structures. This background enriches her understanding of students’ diverse backgrounds and helps her create inclusive learning environments where every student feels valued and supported.

In her tutoring sessions, Kristin emphasizes building strong foundational skills in reading, writing, and math, while also fostering critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. She believes in empowering students to become confident and independent learners who are equipped to tackle any challenge they encounter.

Outside of tutoring, Kristin enjoys exploring her creative side through cooking and painting. Her enthusiasm for learning and dedication to her students make her a valuable asset in helping students excel academically and reach their goals.

Maggie B.

Mrs. Maggie B. has been a teacher and school administrator for 19 years and she loves to watch students succeed and grow. She has a bachelor’s degree in Literature from The University of North Florida and a Masters degree from The University of Texas San Antonio in Educational leadership and Curriculum & Instruction. She spent much of her own school days in Europe where she formed a love for traveling and other cultures. That love translated into her classroom when she traveled with her students to numerous countries and showed them the world! In the classroom, she taught high school English, writing, drama and acting. She has been a middle and high school administrator and, one of her favorite things, a coach for teachers as they improve their craft. She is very excited and looks forward to working with your student!

KRITIKA K.

I am an Ontario-certified teacher with 10+ years of comprehensive teaching experience.  An educator who is motivated to transform students’ academic lives by implementing successful strategies that help them develop holistically.  Over the years, I have taught international students and improvised my teaching and student assessment skills. I use an easy-to-understand vocabulary and try to involve daily life scenarios while teaching Biology and Chemistry which help the students to comprehend the concepts well. Using different audio-visual aids has helped me create an effective teaching-learning environment.

Marilyn I.

Marilyn is a Texas certified secondary education/ biology/ chemistry/composite science teacher since 1992. She has taught many different sciences and medical courses to diverse students in high school and college. She has a Ed.D. in Educational Leadership, a M.A. in Molecular Biology, and a B.S. in Honors Zoology. Her passion is teaching the wonder and literacy of science to students and helping them to reach their educational potential. Marilyn is also a dog lover and owner, a nature lover and hiker, an avid reader of health/environment-related articles and books, as well as an online scrabble and sudoku enthusiast. She enjoys spending time with friends and family.

 

DIANA L.

Diana will be an Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) as of April 2024 and she currently holds a transitional OCT. She graduated with an HBSc from UofT, where she double majored in Biochemistry and Nutritional Sciences in her Life Sciences program. Upon discovering her true passion to teach and make complex science concepts easier to learn, she decided to complete a Master of Teaching degree at OISE. She has received 15 undergrad scholarships and the Canada Graduate Scholarship during her studies. Within her 4+ years of teaching experience, she has taught Science, English, Physics, and Math to grade levels between 7-12 (inclusive of IB students). Her approach to tutoring includes getting to know the student and their preferred teaching style, hearing about their learning experiences, and discovering what works best for them. Diana’s goal in tutoring is to help students build confidence, so that they can thrive at school even without her. A fun fact about Diana is that she got cancelled on TikTok for pronouncing Toronto with the “T”…. Apparently, you only live in Toronto if you call it “Toronno.”

Aude L.

Aude is currently in her first undergraduate year in the honours physics program at McGill University. She graduated from Champlain Ste-Lawrence CEGEP on the Dean’s list in 2023 with a degree in pure and applied sciences. She was awarded the Governor General’s medal for her high school journey. She has tutored students from kindergarten all the way to CEGEP for over two years in English as well as in French. She is passionate about science, especially regarding space and the early mysteries of our universe. You can often find Aude looking up at the sky, eager to identify constellations and planets in the sky. She also loves art, music and any winter sport.

FR: Aude est dans sa première année d’études dans le programme « Honours Physics » de l’université Mcgill. Elle a gradué du programme des sciences pures et appliquées du CEGEP Champlain Ste-Lawrence sur la liste d’honneurs en 2023. Elle a également reçu la médaille du gouverneur général pour son parcours académique au secondaire. Elle a travaillé comme tuteur depuis plus de deux ans auprès d’élèves d’âge primaire jusqu’au CEGEP en anglais ainsi qu’en français. Elle est passionnée de sciences surtout de sujets traitant de l’espace et des grands mystères des débuts de l’univers. Vous pouvez la trouver la tête axée vers le ciel, identifiant les astres qui nous entourent. Elle est une grande amateure d’art et de musique et pratique plusieurs sports d’hiver.

Alina Z.

Alina is a medical student at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry (Western University). She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Guelph with a major in biomedical sciences and minor in neuroscience before completing her Masters of Science at the University of Toronto. Alina has extensive teaching experience during her undergraduate and graduate studies as a graduate teaching assistant. She was a teaching assistant at the University of Toronto for over 3 years, teaching cell and molecular biology, physiology, and human anatomy. Prior to university, Alina tutored middle and high school students in biology, chemistry and math.

Outside of academia, Alina has had unique career experiences working at a management consulting firm and as a real estate agent. She used to be a competitive swimmer and continues her swimming passion during her free time. She loves to paint, travel, and practice yoga. Alina is very passionate about working with students to help them achieve their full potential and prepare them for their own future career goals.

 

 

Haisam Z.

Haisam is an Ontario Certified Teacher. He grew up in the Middle East, and moved to Canada when he was 14. He completed his schooling and attained his Bachelors of Science and Education from Western University and U of T in 2013 and 2015, respectively. He is confident that he has the skills and qualifications as well as the passion to work with high school students. Having worked as a high school teacher since 2016, from private schools such as Blyth Academy and Burlington Royal Arts Academy, and several international high schools while abroad in the U.K., followed by securing a position as a teacher within the York Region and Simcoe County district school boards where he works currently, Haisam feels that his past work experience would make him an ideal candidate to provide one on one instruction as a high school tutor. Haisam has continually tutored high schoolers which has further helped him realize the beauty of inspiring and motivating others to be the best they can be, and it has convinced him that the teaching profession is his passion. As a teacher, Haisam seeks to ignite the passion and innate curiosity within the students to want to learn by instilling within them the desire for self-discovery. Once instilled and the interest is developed, he guides and facilitates the students’ personal journey of self-discovery. This passion is what would drive them towards an enduring learning experience. Furthermore, he’s a firm believer in developing a rapport with students to make every moment of their time during his teaching as comfortable and welcoming as possible. Haisam is also an avid fan and practitioner of several sports such as amateur wrestling, boxing, mixed martial arts, track and field, and badminton.  As a tutor, Haisam can help students ace their performance in sciences and mathematics, and also help them be better athletes as a bonus! After all, health  is our greatest wealth and so a healthy body is a healthy mind


Lisa V.

Lisa Valdner is a highly experienced Biology educator with a rich background in both academic and international settings. Lisa holds a BSc in Physiology and Pharmacology from UWE, followed by a Masters of Science from King’s College London University. Achieving qualified teacher status in 2006, she has worked in private and highly academic grammar schools in the UK. With a passion to travel Lisa attended an International school fair in London, securing a position at an International School in New York.
During her tenure in New York, Lisa not only excelled as a science teacher but also served as an examiner for the IB Biology program. As a head of year 9 and 10 she played a key role in developing and implementing the pastoral care program, emphasizing her dedication to students’ holistic well-being.
As a former national gymnast Lisa was educated with the support of a tutor, so knows first hand the incredible benefits this brings. Lisa embraces the personalized approach of tutoring, providing invaluable support to her students. Currently, she serves as a full-time international tutor, conducting classes both virtually and in person.
Committed to guiding each student through their academic journey, Lisa will help with planning and organization, always applying and instilling good study habits . She actively explores and embraces technological advances to make science concepts come to life, she is currently developing immersive science lessons with VR and AR technology.
Students appreciate how clear Lisa makes the scientific concepts so they can be easily understood. She is able to keep students engaged and with her years of experience can determine the specific needs of each individual.
