VICTORIA V.

Victoria is a distinguished physicist, holding a Doctorate in Physics, a Master of Science (MSc), and an Instructional Teaching Certification from UBC. She is an enthusiastic tutor with more than 10 years of tutoring experience, guiding students from grades 4 to 12, making complex concepts a breeze, while creating an engaging environment with real-world applications and active participation.

Victoria’s teaching journey began in grade 10 when she found joy in helping classmates with math and science, realizing her passion for education. As she pursued her undergraduate degree in Physics at Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM), she ventured into tutoring, a path she continued at the University of British Columbia (UBC). There, she cultivated critical thinking and curiosity among her students.
Victoria’s love for science has taken her across six countries, including work in renowned laboratories like CERN in Geneva, ARGONNE in Chicago, and TRIUMF in Vancouver. Committed to mentoring and guiding graduate and undergraduate students, she emphasizes the value of curiosity in learning.
As a science teacher, Victoria prioritizes instilling critical thinking by fostering a habit of continuous inquiry. Beyond her academic pursuits, she enjoys outdoor activities like skiing, hiking, biking, and climbing. She’s passionate about exploring diverse cultures, travelling, and acquiring new languages, always with a big smile on her face.

Grace N.

Grace is currently in her fourth year pursuing a Bachelors of Science degree at the University of Toronto. Her program of study includes a major in Human Biology, with a double minor in Science & Society, and Psychology. Grace is well immersed within the field of science as she participates in genetic research studying potential therapies for the disease Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, and has received several awards for her academic standing and involvement. Furthermore, she has extensive experience tutoring students of various age groups, and emphasizes the importance of building a personal connection with each of her students, and attending to their individual needs. Grace hopes that her students can gain confidence in their abilities and ultimately achieve academic success.

 

Arshi K.

Arshi is an analytical science teacher proficient in teaching scientific principals especially anatomy and physiology. Organized and focused with proficiency in varied learning methods and assessment, influenced by 11 years of rich teaching experience. Arshi has taught in a cosmetology institute and loves cooking with varied spices. She believes in sustainable living and has mentored many projects with the same theme. She likes to enlighten the students’ mind with the problem solving methodology she has been trained on. She has bagged gold medals during her bachelor’s and master’s and has been awarded as the best STEM facilitator for year 2020 by Shell Energy India. She holds a PhD in life sciences.

 

 

 

ABDULAHI A.

Abdulahi has been quite the globetrotter from an early age. He was born in Mogadishu, Somalia; raised in Chicago, America; socialized and educated in Toronto-Windsor, Canada, which he now refers to as home. To date, Abdulahi has lived in five different countries (America, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates) and traveled to 55 others.

Abdulahi received an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Science and Environmental Science, and also a Bachelor of Education from the University of Windsor. Additionally, he completed many international language certificates. Prior to making the transition back to Canada, Abdulahi taught internationally at prestigious private schools for nearly a decade. These schools followed the Ontario, Alberta and IB curricula and framework.

As an extremely passionate educator, Abdulahi’s teaching experiences have helped him refine a personal teaching philosophy and pedagogy in education that combines the importance of inclusion within the classroom, ongoing feedback, respect, and creating meaningful student-centered lessons. Abdulahi’s defining characteristic as an educator revolves around the joy, pleasure and passion that he receives from teaching beyond the required curriculum. He branches off into various learning atmospheres by becoming actively involved in the development of the whole child. The ‘light bulb!’ moment in students and seeing everything begin to click for them provides him with an immense pleasure and continuously drives his passion and pedagogy as an educator. It is important to nurture a child’s creative abilities to develop a sense of themselves, understand others and the world around them, and navigate information so that they can confidently take risks and solve problems. Reflection and introspection are fundamental components of Abdulahi’s pedagogy and also his own personal growth and commitment to lifelong learning.

Ralph K.

Ralph graduated with high distinctions from the Rotman school of management at the University (BCom ’21 with a specialization in finance and economics, major in economics, and minor in environmental economics). He has been teaching as a TA and tutor since his third year, helping students all over North America succeed. After graduating, Ralph decided to follow his dreams of becoming a professional football (soccer) player and has been playing professionally in Europe for the last three years. He loves keeping his brain active, teaching, and helping others. As such, he continues to be available as a devoted tutor to help you excel in school.

ERIN B.

Erin graduated from a thesis-based Masters program in Physical Activity Sciences at Université de Montréal, with a specialization in Sport Psychology. She is bilingual and completed the majority of this degree in French. Previously, Erin attended StFX University, where she completed a Bachelor of Arts in Human Kinetics in the Pre-education stream, with a minor in French and a pair in Fine Arts. She is highly knowledgeable in the French language and in the areas of academic and scientific writing. Her primary teachables include French, English, Health, Science, and Art. Outside of school, Erin is a competitive track and field pentathlete and heptathlete, with a diverse athletic background in soccer and hockey which she competed in for over 15 years.
Erin has experience working with children of all ages as a track and field coach, gymnastics coach, lifeguard and swim instructor, and Fit 4 Life Student Leader.

JOLENE S.

Jolene S. is entering her 6th year as a science educator in the New York City Department of Education, and is a resident of Harrison, NY. Jolene graduated from Brooklyn College with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology degree and also obtained an Emergency Medical Technician – Basic Certification. Following graduation, she joined the New York City Teaching Fellows, where she was trained to teach Biology, Grades 7-12. She received her Masters of Arts in Teaching and a concentration in Adolescent Online Learning from the Relay Graduate School of Education. For the first five years of her teaching career, Jolene worked at the High School of Language and Innovation in Pelham Parkway, Bronx, where she taught Living Environment, Astronomy, Health, Introduction to Psychology and Senior Thesis. Jolene also collaborated with students to create an Emergency Medical Service (EMS) Club, where students learned basic first aid skills and received certifications in CPR/AED training. In her 6th year, she is now working in Harlem at Central Park East High School, where she is teaching Biology and Astronomy. As a teacher, Jolene’s goals are to empower every student, show how learning science can be fun and immersive, and to bring out the inquisitive and curious scientist in each individual! When she is not teaching, Jolene enjoys writing short stories, stargazing, bike riding and hiking.

NICOLE T.

Nicole is an Ontario Certified Teacher with qualifications ranging from K-12 and a focus in Senior Chemistry and Biology. Having worked as a Chemistry and Biology teacher with the Toronto Catholic District School Board and Science Tutor with Prep Academy Tutors for over 5 years, Nicole understands the importance of student-centred-learning and making sure that no matter how complex the content, students find ways to relate to and enjoy the subject at hand. She is passionate about getting students as excited about chemical reactions as she is, and will go to great lengths creating mnemonic devices and jingles to help her students remember the steps of the Krebs cycle. When not teaching or tutoring, Nicole is busy running her small business, SowSweet Greetings – which she highly recommends you check out if you are a fan of plants and puns. Additionally, she is an avid traveller, fanatic reader, and can never spend enough time with family and friends.

Dr. Ingrid U.

Ingrid Ulbrich is a passionate and tenacious educator who believes in the unlimited potential of all students to enjoy and succeed in STEM. In addition to helping students learn math and science, she helps them take ownership of their learning and strengthen their learning skills. Ingrid’s enthusiasm for STEM and learning shines through in all of her interactions with students.

Ingrid is a graduate of Niwot High School, MIT (B.S., Environmental Engineering) and the University of Colorado – Boulder (Ph.D., Atmospheric and Analytical Chemistry). She has 20 years of experience tutoring in STEM subjects, including 10+ years of teaching college chemistry.

When she’s not working with students, Ingrid probably has a spatula, musical score, book, or knitting needles in her hands. And maybe a cat in her lap, too!

 

Alex R.

Alex holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology and a Master of Health Sciences specializing in Occupational and Environmental Health, both earned from the University of Toronto. Furthermore, having successfully completed the first two years of medical school, Alex’s educational foundation is firmly anchored in the realm of the biological and medical sciences.

Alex has over 15 years of experience as an environment, health, and safety (EHS) professional. His extensive background encompasses areas such as occupational and public health, as well as safety and industrial hygiene. He has applied his expertise across a diverse range of industries, including pharmaceuticals, construction, healthcare, manufacturing, and the services sector, underscoring his adaptability and breadth of knowledge.

Alex is passionate about health and wellness, and believes effective learning needs to be a fun and rewarding experience, devoid of unnecessary stress. He strives for continuous improvement and optimization in his academic, professional and personal endeavours. Drawing from his own academic journey, he aspires to impart his insights and strategies to aspiring learners.

Beyond having strong writing skills in English, Alex also exhibits fluency in both spoken and written Spanish. Coming from a musical family, Alex finds solace and balance in the world of music, playing various musical instruments in his spare time and occasionally performing.
