Katrina G.

Katrina has 5 years of experience teaching and tutoring in STEM. She has taught introductory biology college courses and tutored grades 2-12 in mathematics. Katrina obtained her PhD in Molecular Biosciences from Washington State University. She also has her B.S. in Molecular and Cellular Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Sonoma State University of California.

Katrina has a passion for sharing her knowledge of science with others. She loves creating scientific content including visuals which help others better understand various scientific topics. Katrina understands everyone learns differently and personalizing the learning experience to each student is important to bring out their potential. She has experience teaching both groups and individuals in person and virtually.

 

 

 

Kathleen H.

Kathleen has a Bachelor of Science in Honours Biology and a Bachelor of Education from York University. She has over 3 years of experience teaching General Science and Biology overseas and currently works for WRDSB as an OCT certified teacher. She is qualified Intermediate/Senior in Biology, Geography and General Sciences. Kathleen is passionate and is eager to help students in their education.

 

Matei D-D.

Matei has a Master’s degree in Cell and Molecular Biology from the university of Western Ontario. He has three years of experience working as a teaching assistant at the University of Western Ontario, running labs and tutorials, as well as holding office hours to explain concepts and field questions from students. In his spare time, Matei enjoys fencing, occasionally attending competitions.

 

 

 

JoAnn C.

JoAnn graduated from the University Maryland and earned a masters degree in Education from Marymount University and a Ph.D. in Genetics from GWU. She has taught a variety of subjects in K-8th grade for more than 10 years. Her specialties are writing, math, science, STEM and computer skills. JoAnn adapts teaching techniques to each student, helping them achieve mastery. She is passionate about building the foundations, explaining concepts thoroughly and making sure a comprehensive understanding has been achieved. In her free time, JoAnn enjoys tennis, traveling, dogs, and spending time with her family.

 

 

FRAULIN J.

Fraulin graduated magna cum laude from SUNY Albany, majoring in Biology. He earned a PH.D from Columbia University in the study of genetics. He has taught Human genetics at the City College of New York where he continues to work as an adjunct assistant professor. He has tutored undergraduate level students in the topics of biology, chemistry, and physics. He has also worked as a mentor guiding students on how to achieve both personal and academic success at SUNY Albany.

 

Terri M.

A dedicated education professional with a passion for fostering student growth and development, Mrs. Myers brings her diverse professional background and small business and current position as a licensed teacher of English Language Learners to offer strategic intervention for reading, executive functions, and tutoring. Mrs. Myers holds a master’s degree in Applied Psychology and Religion from Liberty University and is currently pursuing her doctorate in curriculum and instruction with a leadership focus.

Trained through the Orton Gillingham Academy, Mrs. Myers delivers highly effective, structured, and multisensory methods designed to teach literacy skills, particularly for individuals with dyslexia. This approach is characterized by its direct, explicit, sequential, and cumulative instruction, which breaks down reading and spelling into smaller, manageable skills. It emphasizes the use of visual, auditory, and kinesthetic pathways to enhance learning. This method is not only beneficial for one-on-one tutoring but also adaptable for small group and classroom settings, making it a versatile tool for educators aiming to improve literacy outcomes for all students.

Outside of the classroom, Mrs. Myers enjoys a variety of hobbies that enrich her life and provide a well-rounded perspective. Gardening is a favorite pastime, offering a peaceful retreat and a chance to connect with nature. She loves to pair fresh garden ingredients with her love for cooking. An avid reader, she enjoys exploring new genres and authors, always eager to dive into a good book.

Spending time with her husband and beloved dogs is another cherished activity, bringing joy and companionship to her daily routine. Whenever possible, Mrs. Myers loves to travel, seeking out new adventures and experiences that broaden her horizons and inspire her teaching.

With a commitment to education and a love for life’s simple pleasures, Mrs. Myers strives to make a positive impact both in and out of the classroom.

Alexandra W.

With a solid foundation in research and education, Alexandra brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the field of science education. She has served as a secondary science educator across various institutions including virtual education. Her expertise spans multiple disciplines, including Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and Environmental Science. In addition to her teaching experience, Alexandra has a robust research background in the biomedical field, with published works in molecular biology and cancer research journals.   She has successfully guided students through honors and advanced placement science courses and nurtured a passion for scientific inquiry, mentoring student researchers and advancing students to state science and engineering fairs. Committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment, Alexandra emphasizes growth mindset strategies while implementing organizational, time management and knowledge retention practices with her students, ensuring that science is accessible to students of all abilities.  Outside of science education, Alexandra is an equestrian coach and enjoys spending time with her family exploring all things outdoors on the beautiful west coast of Florida.

Caleb W.

Caleb is from Billings, Montana and was the first Native American Valedictorian at West High School. He has mentored and tutored high school students for nearly a decade to help them prepare for and apply to college. A few of the elite universities his students have been accepted to are: Stanford, Harvard, Columbia, and Amherst College. Caleb has a M.A in Native Food Systems from Montana State University and a B.A in Environmental Studies from Amherst College. His relevant professional career experience has ranged from being a college prep coach to working as a graduate research and teaching assistant. Having recently graduated, he is young enough to relate to your child while being old enough to have the lived experience to share. Caleb believes that academic success comes from a holistic understanding of one’s personal goals and playing off of one’s strengths. Outside of work he enjoys camping, trivia, and getting friends together to play board games.

 

 

Jake M.

Jake is a dedicated and passionate tutor with a strong background in chemistry and biology, seeking a career in medicine and education. He is excited about the opportunity to support students in their academic journeys and inspire a love for science by building confidence and curiosity. Jake recently completed his master’s degree, focusing on how viruses affect the brain, and has additional research experience in protein engineering and microbiology garnered during his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry.
With over six years of combined experience in tutoring and teaching university-level courses, Jake understands the challenges learners face when tackling complex scientific concepts. He strives to make lessons engaging, accessible, and tailored to individual needs. By using interactive real-world examples and metaphors, he enhances understanding and fosters curiosity, which naturally develops students’ passion for learning and strengthens their critical thinking skills.

Laghima is a Chemistry student at the University of Calgary with years of tutoring experience in math, chemistry, and English for students in grades 1 through 10. Her strong foundation in the sciences, combined with her patience and ability to explain complex concepts in an accessible way, allows her to support students in building confidence and achieving academic success.
