VICTORIA M.

 Victoria is an Ontario Certified teacher with several years of experience in the secondary classroom setting. She grew up in Oakville and had a strong interest in both academics and athletics. After high school, she earned a soccer scholarship to Florida International University and completed her Bachelor of Science in Physical Education with a minor in Entrepreneurship. She then completed her teaching degree at Brock University, and later pursued a Masters of Kinesiology in Coaching Science at the University of British Columbia, where she was also a Teaching Assistant for undergraduate students in the school of Kinesiology. The majority of Victoria’s recent teaching experiences have been in grades 9-12 (both virtually and in person) but she has also spent time in grades 4-8 classrooms. In addition to teaching, Victoria has been a soccer coach for over 10 years mainly at the youth competitive levels. She was the assistant coach for the UBC women’s soccer team during her time in Vancouver, and spent one season as the assistant coach for the Saint Mary’s University women’s Soccer team. Through all of her different coaching and teaching roles, the aspect that Victoria values above all else is the connections made with her students and players. Her goals as a tutor are to continue to foster a love of learning in her students, and to help them build confidence in the classroom.

Brianna C.

Brianna is an experienced tutor in mathematics with a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Western University. She majored in Financial Modelling which greatly enhanced her knowledge in mathematics, computer science, and finance.

Outside of school, Brianna has worked as a high school math and English teacher/tutor at Oxford Learning. She has also worked as a swim instructor and as a camp counsellor for many years.

In her free time she loves to cook, workout, play board games with her family, and travel!

Lander P-F.

Lander is an Ontario Certified Teacher who graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Arts in English, a Bachelor of Education, and Minor in Social Sciences from York University. Throughout his six-year undergraduate degree, Lander consistently worked within the education sector which included leadership roles in school field trips, and clay sculpture workshops. After work, Lander can typically be found in his apartment with his cat Ezra, watching a quality film. Lander is an individual who is passionate and dedicated to his teacher’s craft, and seeks to hone his skills alongside his students with an energetic and motivated personality – above all, Lander wants to see his students succeed.

STEPHEN P.

Stephen has tutored extensively in all areas of advanced mathematics, including calculus/vectors, and has successfully guided students through AP Calculus and the IB math program. He especially enjoys working on problem-solving strategies. Stephen also has several years of experience with all aspects of SSAT, SAT, ACT, and MCAT preparation, including guiding students through the often arduous university application process.
He also enjoys working with students at all levels across many subjects. He graduated from the University of Toronto with a Masters Degree in Comparative Literature, specializing in English and French,. Stephen’s primary research focus was the nineteenth-century novel. He has also received his MBA from the University of Warwick in the UK, .
Finally, Stephen has a real passion for literature, history, and philosophy, spending his free time delving into contemporary works. Stephen has recently taken a liking to nineteenth and twentieth-century history, and believes that as citizens we benefit when we have a fuller understanding of the past.

Christine L.

Christine J. Loh, PMP, ISTQB certified and is a Manager of Data Science at a tech start-up. A former national mathematics contest competitor from Toronto, Ontario, she earned her bachelors from the University of Toronto. Her students come from a diverse background and needs (AP/IB/remedial/SAT/SSAT/PSAT/GMAT/competitions ie. Caribou, Canadian Math League, Waterloo contests, Kangaroo, Beaver etc) She collaborates with parents, tutoring companies, consultants, and organizations to promote mathematics excellence and equity for young people. Her students have gained interviews to the University of Toronto Schools, scored in the top 2-15% of admission tests, top 7-30% of worldwide/national math contests. top 7% in Ontario, and top 10% in Peel District School Board. Christine has been recognized as the Tutor of the Month, for her efforts. She has also published an article in “Authority Magazine” entitled “5 Things You Need To Know To Be A Highly Effective Educator”. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, chess, travelling, and playing the violin.

Suman R.

Benjamin Franklin said, “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.”
Suman Rana is an Ontario Certified Teacher who strongly believes in these words. She grew up in Delhi, India, and graduated from University of Delhi with a Bachelor of Arts in English literature in 2004. She then completed a Post Graduate Diploma in English literature in 2006 followed by Master of Philosophy in English Literature in 2008. When she decided to pursue teaching as a career Suman completed a Bachelor of Education at the Jamila Millia Islamia University. She started her teaching career in 2006 with elementary students. In 2012, she began to teach English literature to undergraduate students at University of Delhi. She was also a Fulbright FLTA at New York University form 2017-18 where she taught her native language to beginner and intermediate students of various cultural backgrounds in the different contexts- whole class, individual tutoring and online work. Since 2019, she has been teaching high school students English and Business Leadership in Toronto, Canada. She has been an active participant in various seminars and workshops over the years to polish her teaching skills like the OPI Tester Training Workshop in New York University organized by American Council on Teaching of Foreign Language and various STAR TALK workshops. 

Suman believes every child is unique and deserves a caring, inspiring, and engaging atmosphere in which to grow emotionally, intellectually, and socially. As an educator she wants to help students meet their fullest potential in these areas by providing a safe, risk-taking, and collaborative environment. She wants her students to development positive character and leadership traits which are essential in becoming a productive citizen. She chooses content and activities that are both significant and challenging for the students so that they are stimulated to think “beyond” their comfort zone and feel involved in their own learning process. Collaborative learning is also central to her teaching philosophy in order to promote reflective thinking and improve the students’ communicative and trans-cultural skills.

 

RYAN H.

Ryan is currently pursuing his MBA in Accounting and Finance, and holds his Bachelor of Business Administration (Distinction) with a major in Accounting. He has his FMVA and CBCA finance designations, and is a published financial and accounting author.

David is in his 15th year as a high school and university educator. He graduated with his Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Manitoba and his Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Winnipeg. David is married and has 2 children. In his spare time, David loves to hang out at the cabin with his family and friends. David has a natural love of teaching and enjoys watching students achieve their personal educational goals.
