Julene E.

Julene is a lifelong learner with bachelor’s degrees in History and Mathematics. She has tutored middle school through college students for over five years, both those trying to catch up and those excited to push themselves to new heights. Over her tutoring career, she has covered math, writing, and history most thoroughly, with scattered but meaningful experiences in many other subjects. In addition to her degree and private tutoring experience, Julene has been a teaching assistant in highschool readiness math classes, as well as college level writing and math courses. She is drawn to the opportunity to meet students where they’re at, no matter where that is, and bring them confidence and understanding from there. She prioritizes getting to know her students, understanding their personalities and learning styles, in order to collaborate with them on their learning. She emphasizes the connection between personal interests, real world applications, and the subjects at hand. Last but certainly not least, Julene is unabashedly nerdy, a fan of knowledge in all its forms, and constantly excited to bring some of that passion into a student’s life and conception of school subjects.

Chad W.

Dr. Wolf comes to Prep Academy with 25 years of experience as an educator.  He received his Master of Science in Mathematics in 2005 and a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership in 2020.
Dr. Wolf taught math and coached at both the middle and high school levels.  In addition to his time in the classroom, Dr. Wolf served as both an Assistant Principal and Principal.  He and his wife have three daughters and enjoy traveling.

Edi C.

Edi’s individualized approach encourages students to build confidence and achieve their academic potential. She has a degree in Honours Environmental Studies with Distinction. She excelled throughout her undergrad receiving recognition on the Dean’s Honour Role for each year of University and the Academic All Canadian Award for exceptional Academic Achievement while playing Varsity Lacrosse.

She has experience working as a Lead Outdoor Educator, an instructional assistant for a University Environmental Studies course, Coaching Lacrosse and facilitating English practice as a Tandem Language Partner. This passion for teaching and helping students has led to her current pursuit of a Bachelor of Education Degree at York University with Teachables in Biology and Geography. As part of her degree, Edi volunteers in a resource room helping high school students with all subjects including Math.

Prior to her pursuit of teaching, she utilized her skills in biology and environmental studies while she worked as a research assistant for the Health and Wellbeing Chapter of the 2022 Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Report.

Joe L.

Joe is currently a senior at the University of Illinois in Chicago completing his undergraduate degree with a bachelor’s in neuroscience and a minor in chemistry. As a research assistant in UIC’s Human and Sport Performance Laboratory, he has experience in both clinical and bench research, receiving an American Heart Association grant for his work in 2024. Prior to attending UIC Joe owned and operated an escape room company in downtown Chicago but has since found his true passion in healthcare. His love for teaching and working with youth stems from his leadership role at the YMCA of Atlanta where he ran and helped to develop a program focused on fostering servant leadership in high schoolers. In his free time Joe loves playing disc golf, running, and eating his way through Chicago’s best restaurants! (recommendations welcome)
Joe has always been a good student with a love of learning and a creative mind, which is truly what he hopes to pass on to your student! He is well suited to tutor for science courses as he has maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA while taking advanced classes in chemistry including organic, biochemistry, and inorganic chemistry as well as advanced level biology, psychology and philosophy courses. He is also well suited for test prep tutoring as he scored a perfect score on the science section of the ACT and a thirty-five on the math section. Hongyu Z.

Hi! I’m Hongyu and I am currently studying for my Master of Education at OISE, University of Toronto. I’m also a certified teacher (OCT). I completed my Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Education in Kamloops, BC, where I got my BC teaching certification before moving to Toronto.

I specialize in teaching math and physics for grades 9-12, and I’ve also taught Chemistry 11. Whether it’s Pre-Calculus, Advanced Functions, or Calculus, I love helping students tackle challenging concepts and build confidence.

I’m originally from China, so Mandarin is my first language, but I’m fluent in English too—so no worries about communication! Outside of teaching, I’m into photography, traveling, working out, and I’ve recently started learning video editing.

Sam is a tutor with subject area expertises in maths and chemistry. He is a honours mathematics graduate from Newcastle University in the UK and has moved out to Canada to enjoy the outdoor activities that Whistler has to offer. During his university years Sam volunteered as a peer mentor for new joining students, a role which he found extremely rewarding as he became not only a mathematics tutor but also a friendly point of contact for new students. As a teaching assistant at Ontario Tech University, she taught courses such as thermodynamics, heat transfer and metals forming, further refining her ability to break down complex topics with clarity and precision.
