Mackenzie Cirelo is a passionate, certified chemistry teacher known for her dedication to hands-on and project-based learning approaches. With a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and a minor in Secondary Education from Texas State University, Mackenzie has honed her expertise through tutoring and teaching undergraduate labs, and teaching in the public education classroom. Her commitment to fostering a deeper understanding of science shines through her engaging teaching style, fueled by her love for interactive learning experiences. She believes that when a student is able to apply scientific concepts through practical labs and activities, they are much more likely to retain the information. When she’s not in the classroom, Mackenzie enjoys exercising, spending time with her dogs, and cherishing quality time with her family.

Hello, I’m Adeola, a college student with a passion for nursing and biology. Currently on the path to becoming a psych nurse, my journey involves delving into the intricate world of human psychology and healthcare. Alongside my studies, I’ve taken on the role of a tutor, sharing my knowledge and enthusiasm with fellow students.

Marilyn I.

Marilyn is a Texas certified secondary education/ biology/ chemistry/composite science teacher since 1992. She has taught many different sciences and medical courses to diverse students in high school and college. She has a Ed.D. in Educational Leadership, a M.A. in Molecular Biology, and a B.S. in Honors Zoology. Her passion is teaching the wonder and literacy of science to students and helping them to reach their educational potential. Marilyn is also a dog lover and owner, a nature lover and hiker, an avid reader of health/environment-related articles and books, as well as an online scrabble and sudoku enthusiast. She enjoys spending time with friends and family.

DIANA L.

Diana will be an Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) as of April 2024 and she currently holds a transitional OCT. She graduated with an HBSc from UofT, where she double majored in Biochemistry and Nutritional Sciences in her Life Sciences program. Upon discovering her true passion to teach and make complex science concepts easier to learn, she decided to complete a Master of Teaching degree at OISE. She has received 15 undergrad scholarships and the Canada Graduate Scholarship during her studies. Within her 4+ years of teaching experience, she has taught Science, English, Physics, and Math to grade levels between 7-12 (inclusive of IB students). Her approach to tutoring includes getting to know the student and their preferred teaching style, hearing about their learning experiences, and discovering what works best for them. Diana’s goal in tutoring is to help students build confidence, so that they can thrive at school even without her. A fun fact about Diana is that she got cancelled on TikTok for pronouncing Toronto with the “T”…. Apparently, you only live in Toronto if you call it “Toronno.”

Alina Z.

Alina is a medical student at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry (Western University). She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Guelph with a major in biomedical sciences and minor in neuroscience before completing her Masters of Science at the University of Toronto. Alina has extensive teaching experience during her undergraduate and graduate studies as a graduate teaching assistant. She was a teaching assistant at the University of Toronto for over 3 years, teaching cell and molecular biology, physiology, and human anatomy. Prior to university, Alina tutored middle and high school students in biology, chemistry and math.

Outside of academia, Alina has had unique career experiences working at a management consulting firm and as a real estate agent. She used to be a competitive swimmer and continues her swimming passion during her free time. She loves to paint, travel, and practice yoga. Alina is very passionate about working with students to help them achieve their full potential and prepare them for their own future career goals.

Haisam Z.

Haisam is an Ontario Certified Teacher. He grew up in the Middle East, and moved to Canada when he was 14. He completed his schooling and attained his Bachelors of Science and Education from Western University and U of T in 2013 and 2015, respectively. He is confident that he has the skills and qualifications as well as the passion to work with high school students. Having worked as a high school teacher since 2016, from private schools such as Blyth Academy and Burlington Royal Arts Academy, and several international high schools while abroad in the U.K., followed by securing a position as a teacher within the York Region and Simcoe County district school boards where he works currently, Haisam feels that his past work experience would make him an ideal candidate to provide one on one instruction as a high school tutor. Haisam has continually tutored high schoolers which has further helped him realize the beauty of inspiring and motivating others to be the best they can be, and it has convinced him that the teaching profession is his passion. As a teacher, Haisam seeks to ignite the passion and innate curiosity within the students to want to learn by instilling within them the desire for self-discovery. Once instilled and the interest is developed, he guides and facilitates the students’ personal journey of self-discovery. This passion is what would drive them towards an enduring learning experience. Furthermore, he’s a firm believer in developing a rapport with students to make every moment of their time during his teaching as comfortable and welcoming as possible. Haisam is also an avid fan and practitioner of several sports such as amateur wrestling, boxing, mixed martial arts, track and field, and badminton.  As a tutor, Haisam can help students ace their performance in sciences and mathematics, and also help them be better athletes as a bonus! Alvin L. is an enthusiastic educator who specializes in helping students navigate academic challenges in mathematics, science, and Chinese. With a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and two Master’s degrees in art, Alvin has extensive experience in academia. Alvin believes that every student is gifted and understands that even the slightest misunderstanding can create confusion that leads to demotivation. Therefore, Alvin’s unique strategy for each student aims to cultivate their natural curiosity and make learning a hobby. Alvin would love to assist you on your academic journey as a friend. He is a globe traveler who enjoys hiking, sports, photography, and technology. Having lived in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Australia, Alvin has had the opportunity to connect with individuals from diverse ethnic groups and cultural backgrounds. Lauren H.

Lauren is a native New Yorker who spent her life steeped in all the art and culture the city has to offer. She is a born educator, lifelong learner, and giant nerd who is obsessed with music, literature, history, technology, and social justice. Lauren spent her formative years dedicated to writing and visual and performing arts, and still had time to get a perfect score on the SAT. She also worked as the Vocal Director and Science Lab Instructor at a camp for gifted and talented children. While studying studio production and composition at the Conservatory of Music at SUNY Purchase she began tutoring students to prepare them for various standardized tests and subjects. Rather than attend law school, Lauren became a full-time tutor, and has been one for over 15 years. Lauren truly loves what she does, and aims for every student to become confident, intellectually curious, and passionate about learning. She believes education is holistic, enthusiasm infectious, and this is what keeps students engaged and excited to pursue their goals as they become better critical thinkers, readers, and problem solvers who are always pushing the boundaries of what is possible. In addition to tutoring and advising, she also teaches a robotics class in which elementary school children build and program their own Lego robots. Lauren’s passions include eating her way across every continent, collecting records, and curling. She has been playing the game, known as chess on ice, for 6 years, is a certified USA Curling instructor, and is also Co-Director of Education at Brooklyn Lakeside Curling Club.

IBRAHIM H.

Ibrahim H. is an experienced chemistry teacher serving both college and high school students in the last eight years. While pursuing his undergraduate degree in chemistry with a specialization in biochemistry, Ibrahim worked as both a teacher assistant (TA) and supplemental instructor throughout college assisting with the general chemistry courses. Upon graduating from his undergraduate, Ibrahim went on to complete a master’s degree in education in chemistry for adolescents to become a high school chemistry teacher. While completing his first master’s degree, he worked as a math tutor for algebra and college math courses at high schools throughout the Bronx. Recently, Ibrahim has completed his second master’s degree in educational leadership. While being a high school teacher, Ibrahim has also taught credit recovery night classes, summer enrichment programs and home tutoring for students.
