SASHA P.

Sasha is a student at St Mary’s University, pursuing a Bachelor of Education degree. She finds her purpose in educating others and helping others succeed. She wants to eventually teach mathematics at a Junior High or Senior High School Level. She wants to bring joy and purpose into education and finds it very rewarding to see big improvements in her students achievements. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, hiking, running, playing piano, cooking and learning.

 

BAILEY G.

Bailey is a current Education student at Mount Royal University and aspires to be a high school math teacher. Previously, he had completed his certification as a qualified electrician where he worked in that field for 7 years.

Bailey also spends his free time officiating football games from the pee-wee level to the CJFL for the past 8 years.

 

RILEY R.

Riley is currently a first-year Master of Teaching (MT) student at OISE. He has a considerable amount of teaching experience as a private tutor and working at various elementary and secondary schools within the Toronto District School Board (TDSB).

Riley inspires to become a high school biology and chemistry teacher and share his passion for science and learning to his future classroom. His motto is: “Learning does not start until a love for lifelong learning is instilled into the classroom.”

 

Sofia H.

Sofia is a doctoral student in the cell and molecular biology program at SDSU and UCSD. Her project explores the biological mechanisms of ovarian cancer metastasis and drug resistance.
Ms. Howe’s journey in science began at North Dakota State University where she was researching paternal investment in bees under stressful conditions, like cold weather. During her senior year, she shifted her research focus to biomedical sciences where she researched the effects of asthma in smooth muscle cells. While researching these biological topics, she was a goalkeeper for the Division 1 soccer program for 4 years.
Ms. Howe tutors biology, chemistry and math for Prep Academy Tutors of San Diego. Beyond her professional pursuits, Ms. Howe enjoys hot yoga, playing with her two yorkies, and restoring vintage Coach bags.

Sakshi K.

Sakshi is a graduate of McMaster University’s Master of Health Sciences program and York University’s Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences program. She has seven years of tutoring/mentoring experience with high school and university students. Her qualifications include Biology, Chemistry, General Science, Mathematics (grade 9-11) and English. She has worked as a teaching assistant and has both volunteering and employment experience in teaching students. Sakshi has also worked as an orientation leader for incoming university students to aid in their smooth transition from high school to university. Additionally, she has served as a Science Student Ambassador and as a peer leader where she has given leadership training to students in order to prepare them to uptake leadership roles throughout their academic careers. She is enthusiastic about enlightening students with knowledge and is motivated to fulfill the purpose of education. She believes in empowering students and is ready to help them achieve success in their academic endeavors. Her goal is to facilitate learning and motivate students to reach their full potential, guiding them in a positive direction.

 

 

 

 

Alma A.

Alma is a dedicated and experienced tutor with a strong academic background and a passion for teaching. Currently a third-year Computer Science student at Concordia University with a minor in Multidisciplinary Science, Alma brings a well-rounded perspective to her teaching, combining technical expertise with interdisciplinary knowledge.

Alma has worked in research labs focusing on data statistics, medical physics, and biology, which has deepened her understanding of complex concepts and enhanced her ability to break them down into accessible lessons for her students. She specializes in tutoring students in subjects such as mathematics, science, computer science, and programming.

With a love for coding and problem-solving, Alma is skilled at creating engaging, tailored lessons that build her students’ confidence and foster their curiosity. She believes in nurturing critical thinking and providing practical tools that help learners succeed academically while developing a genuine interest in their subjects.

Outside of academics, Alma enjoys knitting and painting, activities that reflect her patience and creativity—qualities she brings to every tutoring session. Her approachable and encouraging teaching style has helped students of all levels achieve their academic goals and develop a lifelong love of learning.

Ollie J.

Ollie is currently studying Environmental and Sustainability Sciences (Biology) at Concordia University. He graduated John Abbott College on the honour roll, having completed two internships in environmental science research. He has experience tutoring learners from the elementary to the CEGEP level across a wide variety of subjects.

Ollie is committed to making every student feel welcome. As someone who has struggled with executive functioning, he has personal experience learning how to build routines and study effectively. Ollie believes that teaching learners to work with their unique brains is key to building long-lasting academic habits.

In his free time, Ollie enjoys crocheting, sewing, and embroidery. He also plays the drums!

Lance F.

I’m a mechanical engineer working in the musculoskeletal biomechanics section at Southwest Research Institute. I’ve always enjoyed teaching and tutoring and have been doing it for nearly a decade. I cover all things STEM and bring a unique working experience to tutoring.

Samantha S-M.

Samantha has a Master of Science degree in Molecular Genetics as well as a Bachelor’s degree in biology and mathematics. Since high school Samantha has been tutoring a wide range of grade levels in math and science. Since University Samantha has focused on tutoring all math and science subjects. Samantha believes in fostering a positive tutoring environment which encourages students to become confident in their skills. Samantha encourages students to excel by being patient and using repetition when needed. Outside of tutoring Samantha enjoys playing piano, downhill skiing and listening to Taylor Swift.

 

 

Michael Z.

Michael A. Zaucedo graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry in 2021. He grew up in Chicago, IL and attended a boarding High school at Lake Forest Academy in 2011. Michael grew up with a deep love for Science and Mathematics and took a study abroad opportunity in Costa Rica in the summer of 2018 to study an indigenous plant called Jatoba. During the summer of 2019, he discovered his passion for teaching and working with children when completing his teaching internship at High Jump Chicago as a teaching assistant (TA) for Chemistry––through teaching, he fostered his love for Chemistry and Mathematics. In his spare time, Michael works one-on-one with students ranging from middle through High School. He encouraged and supported the improvement of their Chemistry, and Mathematics skills ranging from Algebra, Trigonometry and Calculus. As a mentor, Michael continues to develop strategies for working with students and believes that building strong relationships will grow their learning and help guide them to reach their full potential toward being a well rounded student. Michael enjoys playing sports like baseball, basketball and football, watching suspense movies, as well as spending time with his family and friends.
