YASHAR E-I.

Yashar has over 10 years of experience tutoring all sciences and math courses under the Ontario curriculum to students from Gr. 9-12. He grew up in Richmond Hill, pursuing an undergraduate honours degree in Chemistry from York University. His passion for learning chemistry during his undergraduate career led him to pursue a Master of Science degree in Atmospheric Chemistry, from which he graduated in March 2025. As a graduate student, Yashar was a teaching assistant (i.e., marker and led tutorials and labs) for over 300 students in first-, second-, and third-year undergraduate chemistry courses, including Introduction to Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Physical Chemistry, and Advanced Analytical Chemistry. His research was sponsored internationally by NASA and NOAA, where he spent several months as a research-exchange student at NOAA headquarters in Boulder, Colorado. Yashar learned early during his educational career that the best method to master any material was to teach it to his peers and colleagues, developing a passion for teaching and mentoring students to achieve their academic goals. After teaching more than 60 high school students as a tutor, Yashar has developed a strong sense of various teaching styles for his students, ensuring that high school students gain the confidence they need to pursue their academic goals. Apart from tutoring science and math to students, Yash enjoys being a mentor to many of his students, guiding them to pursue their own undergraduate careers in STEM fields.

 

Dr. Salma S.

Dr. Salma Siddiqui, a passionate and dynamic Chemistry educator with a Ph.D. in Chemistry, brings over seventeen years of teaching and research experience at the college and university level. Known for turning even the most challenging scientific concepts into engaging, relatable lessons, she offers not only deep subject knowledge but also warmth, clarity, and enthusiasm in every session. With a strong commitment to student success, Dr. Salma is especially skilled at making science approachable and enjoyable for all types of learners.

Over the past six years, she has taught a wide range of Chemistry courses at institutions such as the City University of New York and Touro University, New York. Her research expertise in Chemistry adds depth and real-world perspective to her teaching. What truly sets her apart, however, is her ability to understand her students’ strengths and challenges, and to adapt her teaching style to meet their individual needs.

Now based in San Marcos, California and serving as a Chemistry faculty member at Grossmont College in El Cajon, Dr. Salma is excited to bring her expertise to middle and high school students as a Chemistry tutor—especially those seeking additional support outside the classroom. Whether it’s decoding the periodic table, understanding chemical reactions, or prepping for exams, she helps students build a strong foundation while making science genuinely fun. Students and parents alike value her calm, supportive approach and her knack for making Chemistry feel less intimidating and more like a journey of discovery.

Katrina G.

Katrina has 5 years of experience teaching and tutoring in STEM. She has taught introductory biology college courses and tutored grades 2-12 in mathematics. Katrina obtained her PhD in Molecular Biosciences from Washington State University. She also has her B.S. in Molecular and Cellular Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Sonoma State University of California.

Katrina has a passion for sharing her knowledge of science with others. She loves creating scientific content including visuals which help others better understand various scientific topics. Katrina understands everyone learns differently and personalizing the learning experience to each student is important to bring out their potential. She has experience teaching both groups and individuals in person and virtually.

 

 

 

Kathleen H.

Kathleen has a Bachelor of Science in Honours Biology and a Bachelor of Education from York University. She has over 3 years of experience teaching General Science and Biology overseas and currently works for WRDSB as an OCT certified teacher. She is qualified Intermediate/Senior in Biology, Geography and General Sciences. Kathleen is passionate and is eager to help students in their education.

 

FRAULIN J.

Fraulin graduated magna cum laude from SUNY Albany, majoring in Biology. He earned a PH.D from Columbia University in the study of genetics. He has taught Human genetics at the City College of New York where he continues to work as an adjunct assistant professor. He has tutored undergraduate level students in the topics of biology, chemistry, and physics. He has also worked as a mentor guiding students on how to achieve both personal and academic success at SUNY Albany.

 

Alexandra W.

With a solid foundation in research and education, Alexandra brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the field of science education. She has served as a secondary science educator across various institutions including virtual education. Her expertise spans multiple disciplines, including Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and Environmental Science. In addition to her teaching experience, Alexandra has a robust research background in the biomedical field, with published works in molecular biology and cancer research journals.   She has successfully guided students through honors and advanced placement science courses and nurtured a passion for scientific inquiry, mentoring student researchers and advancing students to state science and engineering fairs. Committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment, Alexandra emphasizes growth mindset strategies while implementing organizational, time management and knowledge retention practices with her students, ensuring that science is accessible to students of all abilities.  Outside of science education, Alexandra is an equestrian coach and enjoys spending time with her family exploring all things outdoors on the beautiful west coast of Florida.

Divina M.

Divina is a full-time chemistry professor at Baton Rouge Community College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She has a doctorate degree in Chemistry and a master’s degree in teaching. She also has a Louisiana teaching certificate. Her education and teaching experience prepared her to be a highly effective chemistry tutor. Although she primarily teaches college students, she also enjoys teaching younger students. Additionally, she has tutored math classes in various grade levels at Sylvan Learning Center. She found out from her experience at the learning center that kids respond better if you build a personal connection with them. She absolutely enjoyed this tutoring experience.

Jake M.

Jake is a dedicated and passionate tutor with a strong background in chemistry and biology, seeking a career in medicine and education. He is excited about the opportunity to support students in their academic journeys and inspire a love for science by building confidence and curiosity. Jake recently completed his master’s degree, focusing on how viruses affect the brain, and has additional research experience in protein engineering and microbiology garnered during his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry.
With over six years of combined experience in tutoring and teaching university-level courses, Jake understands the challenges learners face when tackling complex scientific concepts. He strives to make lessons engaging, accessible, and tailored to individual needs. By using interactive real-world examples and metaphors, he enhances understanding and fosters curiosity, which naturally develops students’ passion for learning and strengthens their critical thinking skills.

Lynda E.

Lynda is a Math and Physics teacher with 20 years of experience spanning classroom teaching, private tutoring, and Gifted and Talented programs. She has a Master’s in Physics with a concentration in Education from University of Virginia, certificate in Leaders of Learning from Harvard University, and holds teaching certificates in Math, Physics, Elementary Education, Students with Disabilities, and Middle School Science.

Lynda specializes in demystifying challenging math and physics concepts by (1) explaining concepts as clearly as possible, (2) performing examples in order to model the problem-solving process, and (3) providing several practice problems to work up to mastery. While she is a professional, Lynda enjoys conversing in a casual tone (think more Penny, less Sheldon), as math and science are often culprits for producing anxiety in students. LAGHIMA J.

Laghima is a Chemistry student at the University of Calgary with years of tutoring experience in math, chemistry, and English for students in grades 1 through 10. Her strong foundation in the sciences, combined with her patience and ability to explain complex concepts in an accessible way, allows her to support students in building confidence and achieving academic success.

She believes every student learns differently and tailors her approach to meet individual needs.
