Janice H.

Janice is an Ontario Certified Teacher with a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Bachelor of Education. She has over five years of teaching experience in a variety of settings, including foreign schools, private schools, public schools within the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) and York Region District School Board (YRDSB), as well as one-on-one tutoring.

TESL-qualified, Janice specializes in supporting English Language Learners and helping students gain confidence in reading, writing, and speaking. Her lessons are student-centered, interactive, and designed to make learning enjoyable and meaningful. Known for her warm and engaging teaching style, Janice creates a positive environment where students feel supported and motivated to do their best.

Fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, and conversational in Korean, Janice easily connects with students from diverse backgrounds. Outside of teaching, she enjoys dancing and playing the electric guitar—bringing creativity, rhythm, and fun into her classroom and tutoring sessions.

SHABANA H.

Shabana is an accomplished educator with a Bachelor’s degree in Education and holds Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) status in good standing. Her qualifications span the Primary/Junior and Intermediate divisions.
Shabana brings over 13 years of classroom experience teaching at the elementary, junior and high school level in Ontario. In addition to her extensive time in the classroom, she served for two years as a Director of Academics, where she focused on curriculum development and instructional excellence. Shabana is deeply passionate about fostering environments where every student can achieve their full potential and experience meaningful academic success.

Yvonne T.

Yvonne is a compassionate and energetic tutor with over seven years of experience working with children in schools, daycare, programs, and home settings. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Education (Primary/Junior) after completing a B.A. Honours in Educational Studies – provides a strong foundation in early childhood development and the Ontario curriculum.

Yvonne has extensive experience supporting students with diverse learning needs, including in specialized classrooms for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and behavioural support programs. She is First Aid/CPR certified, bilingual in English and Vietnamese, and skilled in program/lesson planning, creating safe and engaging learning environments.

Yvonne is passionate about helping children reach their full potential by tailoring lessons to their unique strengths, learning styles, and interests. She believes learning should be hands-on, playful, interactive, and positive, building both academic skills and confidence.

In addition to her tutoring experience, Yvonne values fostering a love of learning and promoting personal growth in every student she works with. Outside of teaching, she enjoys reading, dancing, exercising, journaling, and spending quality time with friends and family.

JOANNA R.

Joanna is a passionate, experienced tutor who supports kids with Math and Writing skills. She has a Graduate Diploma of Teaching from the University of Otago in New Zealand, and a Honours BA in Canadian Studies (Geography and History) from Trent University. She brings her background working in outdoor education, traditional classroom teaching and summer camps to her teaching approach. She has a special touch with students who suffer from ADHD and/or executive dysfunction with much experience providing them the support they need.

Danky N.

Danky began his journey as an educator at Humber College, where he completed a Diploma in Early Childhood Education. He later earned a Bachelor of Applied Science in Early Childhood Studies from the University of Guelph Humber, and went on to graduate from the Master of Teaching (Primary/Junior) program at the University of Toronto’s Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. He is now a certified OCT teacher.

Danky has experience teaching children across the primary/junior grades in various classroom settings, where he designed and implemented engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons in Mathematics, Science and Language Arts aligned with the Ontario Curriculum. His approach emphasizes inclusive practices, student relationships, and hands-on, inquiry based learning that supports the diverse needs of every learner.

In addition to his classroom experience, Danky has worked in early learning and community settings, including summer camp programs for school aged children, and after school programs. These roles strengthened his skills in fostering positive social development, promoting creativity, and building supportive relationships with students and families.

GABRIELA P.

Gabriela is currently completing her Master of Teaching at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto, specializing in primary and junior education. As a Toronto native, she also holds an Honours Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and Physical Education from the University of Toronto.

With several years of hands on experience supporting children’s learning and growth, Gabriela has also worked as an early childhood assistant, private nanny, camp counsellor, and soccer coach, as well as a volunteer in multiple Toronto public and independent schools.

Gabriela speaks French and Spanish, and is interested in language learning and cultural exchange. She believes in personalized, child-centred teaching that builds on each student’s strengths and learning style. Her approach is informed by research-backed strategies learned through her studies and applied successfully in real classrooms. She is known for creating a warm, engaging and confidence building learning environment where students feel supported and motivated to reach their goals.

When she’s not teaching, she enjoys staying active by playing soccer, biking around the city, and exploring new places. Her most recent adventures have taken her to Chile, Costa Rica, and Algonquin Park!

EN: Laure is currently in her first undergraduate year of a Bachelor in Kindergarten and Elementary Education with a French immersion minor. She graduated from Cégep du Vieux Montréal with a degree in Social Studies, during which she had the opportunity to participate in a field experience in an Indigenous community in Mexico. She has worked at a summer camp for the past four years, where she has met various groups of kids from different backgrounds. Recently, she began tutoring a student who is learning French as a foreign language. She has a strong passion for culture, particularly in finding ways to integrate it into language teaching.

FR: Laure est actuellement en première année de baccalauréat en éducation à la maternelle et au primaire, avec une mineure en immersion française. Diplômée en sciences humaines du Cégep du Vieux-Montréal, elle a eu l’occasion de participer à un stage dans une communauté autochtone au Mexique. Elle travaille dans un camp d’été depuis quatre ans, où elle a rencontré divers groupes d’enfants de différents milieux. Récemment, elle a commencé à offrir du tutorat à un élève qui apprend le français langue alternative. Passionnée par la culture, elle s’efforce de l’intégrer à l’enseignement des langues.

JACOB C.

Jacob is a dedicated educator with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a strong foundation in Mathematics and the Sciences. Before completing his psychology degree, he studied engineering, which sharpened his analytical mindset and problem-solving skills. This blend of scientific training and psychological insight allows him to approach learning from both a structured, logical perspective and an empathetic, student-centered one.

Now entering his second year of the Bachelor of Education program at St. Mary’s University, Jacob continues to refine his pedagogical practice as he works toward teacher certification. His background is grounded in real-world educational experience, including hands-on student teaching practicum placements, classroom supervision and substitute teaching, and several years of targeted one-on-one tutoring.

Jacob is passionate about helping learners master challenging academic concepts while fostering lasting confidence and curiosity. Known for a supportive, patient, and adaptable teaching style, he excels at breaking down complex math and science topics into clear, intuitive steps while guiding students to develop independent study habits and strong problem-solving skills.

JOYCE K.

Joyce holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (with Distinction) and a Bachelor of Education. During her studies, she was consistently recognized for her academic excellence, earning a place on the Dean’s List.
Joyce’s passion for creativity and learning shines through both her artistic background and her teaching. She has taken part in several educational camps, where she helped children explore their imagination through play creation and hands-on learning experiences. Her Fine Arts background allows her to bring a creative touch to her classroom, helping students connect ideas in engaging and meaningful ways.
With experience as a contingency teacher, Joyce has taught across all elementary grade levels, developing a strong ability to adapt her approach to meet the needs of every learner. She now teaches Grade 4, where she focuses on building a supportive and inclusive classroom community. Her teaching philosophy centers on curiosity, collaboration, and confidence—encouraging each student to grow both academically and personally.
