Anna S.

Anna is a passionate teacher-candidate currently pursuing a Masters of Arts in Child Study and Education degree at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto. She has over five years of experience working directly with children of varying ages in a variety of learning settings including elementary classrooms, after-school programs, and summer camps with a mathematics and literacy focus. During her most recent practicum experience in a fourth-grade classroom, Anna facilitated an inclusive and engaging learning environment, tailoring instruction to best suit the unique needs and ability levels of every student. Whether working one-on-one with students, leading small group activities, or delivering whole-class lessons, Anna always ensures that each student receives personalized attention and support. In her tutoring sessions, Anna is dedicated to helping students build confidence in their learning journey and feel capable of reaching their full academic potential. In her spare time, she enjoys reading books, painting, and going on nature walks.

 

ASHLEY D. S.

Ashley is currently enrolled in her second year at OISE (Ontario Institute for Studies in Education) at the University of Toronto for her Master of Teaching in the Primary/Junior grade level. She has completed two teaching placements in a Grade 3 classroom at Hillcrest Community School, and a Grade 5 classroom at Norseman Junior Middle School. It is through teaching that Ashley has been able to foster her love of Science and Math.

During her undergrad, she spent her time volunteering with child-focused non-profit organisations where she mentored two elementary-aged children with Autism and ADHD through weekly cooking classes and collaborated in teaching a weekly conflict resolution and community-building program to a Grade 5 classroom at Swansea Junior and Senior Public School.

Through these experiences, Ashley has developed a deep passion for working with children and guiding them to reach their full potential. Ashley believes that by building a strong relationship with her students she is better able to meet their needs and grow their learning. She finds these experiences enjoyable and extremely rewarding. In her spare time, Ashley enjoys reading, spending time outdoors, watching anime, and spending time with her friends and family.

 

MARAL G.

Maral has a master’s degree in civil engineering and gained extensive professional experience in the civil engineering field. Alongside her engineering background, she has years of experience tutoring mathematics across various grade levels. Tutoring students to achieve exceptional exam results is her goal. Maral believes students need to feel confident in their work and knows how to approach problems from multiple perspectives.
Maral offers both in-person and online tutoring, possessing adeptness with platforms like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, and others.

 

 

 

 

 

LOGAN C.

Logan is a BC Certified Teacher. He grew up in Ontario before pursuing his dreams of becoming a teacher in New Zealand in 2020. After successfully graduating from teacher’s college Logan returned home to Canada and started working as an elementary school teacher. This past summer in 2023 is when Logan arrived in the beautiful province of British Columbia.
Logan has been a certified teacher for the past 4 years, and has experience working as a tutor for the past two years during the summer months. He has experience teaching all subjects at the elementary level, including French Immersion. He has supported the academic improvement of his students specifically with their reading, writing, vocabulary, language and math skills. Logan is a creative, personal and capable educator that understands his role as a guide and facilitator of learning. He puts an emphasis on creating positive relationships which allows him to relate to his students in a naturally caring and calm manner, building respect and trust. He also prioritizes the importance of creating innovative and engaging learning situations where students can reach their full potential. In his spare time, Logan enjoys being outdoors and staying active. He has a big passion for sports with hockey being his favourite, and enjoys listening to and playing music whenever he can.

 

Sally P.

Sally earned an Honours Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toronto, specializing in Psychology. Currently, she is a teacher candidate pursuing a Master of Arts in Child Study and Education degree at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto. Sally’s passion for working with children is evident through her diverse experiences, primarily centered around supporting children with disabilities at a children’s rehabilitation hospital. She firmly advocates for differentiated instruction and is committed to nurturing both the academic growth and emotional well-being of her students, guiding them towards reaching their full potential. In her spare time, Sally enjoys watching movies, spending time with friends, and exploring new food places in the city.

 

 

Kate R.

Kate is a certified teacher with her Bachelor’s degree in Special Education and certifications in Special Education K-8 and Early Childhood PK-4. Along with her Bachelor’s degree, Kate recently obtained her Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis. Kate has always had a love for supporting various learners inside and outside of the classroom.

She has worked in various settings, including preschools, mental health settings and alternative learning settings. Kate loves sports and the outdoors, she takes her passions and creates hands-on and engaging lessons geared to all learners.

GRIFFIN H.

Griffin graduated from Humber College in 2022, receiving a Bachelor’s of Music with honours. Griffin is currently enrolled at the University of Toronto completing his Master’s of Teaching, where he is set to graduate in April 2025. Griffin is 24 years old and has been teaching music and mentoring students for over 5 years and has experience working with students of all ages.

Griffin graduated from Kelowna Secondary School in 2018 receiving a diploma with honours, as well as the Holland-Rusk Award, the BC Achievement Scholarship, and the BC District Scholarship for Fine Arts. During his time at Humber College, Griffin was awarded the Bernie Piltch Memorial Scholarship and the Yamaha Canada Music Award.

Griffin has recently completed two placements in TDSB schools and has extensive knowledge of the Ontario curriculum, with a focus on the Junior/Intermediate division.

 

HAFSAH S.

Hafsah holds undergraduate and Master’s degrees from the University of Toronto and a PhD in Geography from the University of Cambridge. She has extensive teaching and tutoring experience at the primary school, high school, and university levels.

 

 

 

TAYLOR J.

Taylor is a Special Education teacher with the Toronto District School Board. She graduated with a Master of Teaching from OISE in 2021, and has obtained qualifications in teaching students with communication needs, specifically Autism Spectrum Disorder and Learning Disabilities. Taylor has taken courses in Structured Literacy from the International Dyslexia Organization, and is trained in the Wilson Reading System. In addition, Taylor is a Registered Behavior Technician with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board, and has taken extensive training with the Geneva Centre in Applied Behavior Analysis, Functional Behavior Assessment, and utilizing evidence-based strategies for teaching students on the Autism spectrum. Taylor utilizes a data-driven and strengths-based approach to creating learning plans to ensure students are making progress and meeting curriculum goals.

In her spare time, Taylor enjoys spending time with her son, as well as boxing, cycling, and hiking.

AMANDA H.

Amanda is a fourth-year student at York University’s Glendon campus, pursuing a Bachelor of Education in French Studies with a specialization in Mathematics, aiming to become a high school teacher. Fully bilingual, Amanda has extensive experience working with students at all levels of French, including core, immersion, extended, and full French.

As a dedicated teacher, Amanda finds fulfillment in witnessing her students’ progress and success. She has a rich background in tutoring and teaching French and Math across all grade levels, from primary to high school. Amanda’s teaching approach is immersive and tailored to each student’s needs. She begins by assessing their French or Math proficiency through diagnostic tests, enabling her to design customized lesson plans and homework assignments to ensure their success.

Amanda offers both online and in-person lessons, incorporating interactive activities such as quizzes and games to reinforce concepts learned during the session. She adapts her teaching methods and materials to accommodate each student’s learning style and interests. Moreover, Amanda maintains open communication with parents, providing regular feedback on their child’s progress.

In her free time, Amanda enjoys reading, spending time with friends, playing soccer, and staying active through workouts.
