ANETTE K.

Anette is an Ontario-certified teacher and a graduate of the Masters of Arts in Child Study and Education at the University of Toronto. She also holds a BA in Psychology with a Research-Intensive Specialization and a minor in Social Development Studies. Anette has experience teaching K-6 both in the public school board and independent schools. Her practice focuses on building students’ relationships through celebrating their strengths. Anette’s teaching approach can be encapsulated by three words- care, compassion, and respect. Anette values differentiated learning and utilizes Universal Design for Learning to help students succeed. She enjoys making learning fun for all through games and discussions. Anette strives to not only help students be successful academically but also help them be confident in being who they are.

Having spent her childhood in Hong Kong where she attended elementary and middle school, allowed her to critically compare the education system in both countries and pick out things that she liked about each system. Her teaching philosophy has a healthy balance of Eastern and Western teaching approaches.

In her spare time, Anette enjoys reading exercising and being in nature as it fosters both physical and mental health. Anette is fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin, and English.

Amy H.

Amy H. is an accomplished professional with a Child and Youth Care background. In 2006, she graduated from Humber College with an Advanced Diploma in Child and Youth Care. Amy’s early career involved a meaningful four-year tenure as a foster parent and group home manager. In 2008, she transitioned to the Peel District School Board, where she has been dedicated to supporting students as an Educational Assistant for over a decade.
In 2023, Amy achieved academic excellence, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Child and Youth Care with a minor in Sociology, earning honours. Currently in her first year of Teachers College at OISE, Amy has embarked on a new chapter in her professional journey. During her initial placement in a grade 2/3 class, Amy demonstrated her prowess in modifying lesson plans to meet the diverse needs of individual learners. Her aptitude for fostering meaningful relationships and exceptional communication skills have been pivotal in her roles as an Educational Assistant and, more recently, as a student teacher.
Amy’s commitment to the field of education and her ability to adapt to evolving challenges mark her as a dedicated professional poised for continued success in shaping the educational landscape.

 

Matthew J.

Matthew J. is a seasoned Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) with a wealth of counseling experience. His expertise extends to an Additional Qualification (AQ) in teaching exceptional students with emotional behaviors, where he specializes in delivering tailored one-on-one interactive tutoring sessions. Matthew firmly believes in the importance of capturing students’ curiosity and aligning lessons with their interests to nurture the confidence needed for success. Furthermore, Matthew is adept at tutoring up to Algebra 1, as well as offering guidance in reading and writing.

Beyond his professional commitments, Matthew dedicates his spare time to personal pursuits such as frequenting the gym, indulging in artistic endeavors, and cherishing moments with friends and family.

Kyanee B.

Kyanee is a certified teacher assistant and substitute teacher in the state of Florida. She is starting her bachelors in August for elementary school education K-6 at Florida Memorial University.

Throughout her experience teaching, Kyanee has grown to know that she loves helping kids finally grasp concepts that they may have not fully understood before. As Kyanee believes it helps them grow. As she was in the military for six months, she has grown to love traveling and getting to meet new people and sharing her experiences with others.

 

SANA A.

Sana is pursuing a Bachelor of Education Degree at Mount Royal University. Holding a Master’s degree in Law, Sana has chosen to focus her expertise on Elementary Education to fulfil her passion for educating and supporting children.
Throughout her academic journey, Sana has consistently excelled, earning a place on the dean’s honour roll list for every semester. With a passion for teaching, Sana has accumulated years of valuable field experience and practicum, working with students ranging from Kindergarten to Grade 6. Beyond the classroom, Sana has over a year of one-on-one tutoring experience, further demonstrating her commitment to fostering educational growth.
As a member of the Alberta Teachers’ Association (ATA) and the Mount Royal University Education Undergraduate Society (EUS), Sana engages with the educational community on both professional and student levels. She is passionate about travelling around the world, delving into stories, and taking hikes for relaxation.
Sana’s teaching philosophy is centered around the core belief that building strong relationships with students and promoting inclusivity are integral components of effective education.

 

Sandra S.

Sandra is an accomplished tutor with an Honours Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Western Ontario. She taught Grades two through five with the Dufferin – Peel District School Board, coached volleyball, and track and field, mentored student teachers, and served as the Primary-Junior Division Head. Her love for teaching inspired her to coordinate a Public Speaking program for the Junior division at her school. She later decided to apply her knowledge and expertise in the field of Corporate Training for many years, but found that she missed teaching children. Sandra believes that her diverse work experience acquired in Canada and abroad, makes her a more interesting person and a well-rounded teacher. She has a genuine passion for teaching, and makes it her goal to bring out the best in others. When she isn’t teaching, her time is spent caring for her adorable rescue dog, Benjamin Bean. Her other interests are making dinners for her father, going out for brunches with friends, learning new languages, doing volunteer work for dog rescue organizations, watching comedies, and cruising.

 

Maria P.

Maria has a teaching degree and has worked as a teacher for the past 14 years. She has taught kindergarten to grade 5. She has taught Reading Readiness programs after school and for summer school. She has taught EQAO prep after school programs for both Math and Literacy. She has spent 3 summer scoring EQAO tests. Maria was trained as an ABA therapist and has worked with autistic students both in a private and school setting.

 

VERONICA B.

Veronica graduated from the University of Guelph-Humber Family and Community Social Services in 2018, before she started teaching English in Japan in 2020 and working with international ESL programs in 2021. When she isn’t volunteering at local schools, Veronica enjoys reading, writing, and finding new ways to make learning fun for her students.

 

 

 

 

Georgia W.

Georgia is a dedicated educator with a passion for helping students achieve at their highest potential. An Arts and Science graduate with distinction, over 8 years of experience in education working with diverse groups of students and the Master of Teaching in progress, she has developed a pedagogical style that focuses on students’ success and continual development. Her approach emphasizes personalized learning, fostering a positive environment, and building strong foundations for academic growth. She enjoys reading and dancing and believes in the power of education, to inspire and empower individuals.

 

 

Massimo P.

Massimo graduated from the University of Toronto’s psychology program with high honours in 2021, earning a Bachelor of Science degree. He is currently in his final year of study at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), where he will complete a Masters of Teaching (MT) degree to teach Intermediate/Senior English and Social Sciences, as well as become Ontario Teacher Certified (OCT) to work in public schools across all of Ontario.

Massimo has a decade of teaching experience with students of all ages, having worked in educational roles for municipal governments, private schools, and tutoring institutes. Having worked across various academic roles, Massimo is well versed in working with students to ensure they succeed academically and learn their study habits and strategies by incorporating student interests in lessons and learning goals.

Massimo enjoys cooking, movies, and playing video games in his free time.
