KATIE W.

Katie holds an honours degree in English and Culture Studies, a Bachelors of Education degree, and is an official member of the Ontario College of Teachers. She has worked with a variety of students and needs; from working in daycare’s to high school with special education students. She has also taught as a swimming instructor. She primarily teaches Kindergarten to Grade 8 students core subjects (English, Social Studies, History, Math, Music, Physical Education, Science, and French, grades 1-3).
She is currently taking an Additional Qualification course regarding teaching Multilingual Language Learners (formerly ELL students). She has participated in Teacher Librarian PD sessions, as working as a Librarian is also of interest to her. She is working towards getting her Intermediate and Senior English teaching qualifications.

Quinn S.

Quinn is an OCT certified Primary/Junior teacher for the TDSB and Independent Board. Quinn studied English Language and Literature with a specialization in Media, Information and Technoculture at Western University. For graduate studies, Quinn completed a Master of Arts in Child Study and Education at The Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (University of Toronto). Quinn strives to create meaningful and lasting connections with students in a secure, academic, and prosperous environment. She believes her experience working in a variety of educational settings such as her local library, and museum, and being a childcare provider, alongside her classroom teaching experience, gives Quinn dynamic adaptability to present effective tutoring. In her spare time, Quinn loves running, spending time with friends, and exploring the city.

 

Jenny H.

Jenny is a professional teacher with more than five years of experience educating in private schools around the world. After receiving her Honours Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Philosophy from the University of Toronto, Jenny’s passion for travel took her overseas, where she began her teaching career. Having taught at the elementary level at SABIS International School, an accredited international private school, for two years, her dedication to her students’ achievements inspired her to take on the additional roles of University Counselor and English Department coordinator. Upon her return to Canada, Jenny brought back a wealth of experience in diverse learning environments, which she continues to apply while teaching both high school and elementary levels in private schools across the GTA.

 

Simran K.

Simran obtained his Honours Bachelor of Science degree from McMaster University where he double majored in Biology and Psychology Neuroscience Behaviour. He was awarded the Kathy Steele Teaching Assistant (TA) of the Year Award for his work as an Introductory Psychology TA. He was also an undergraduate tutor (Calculus, Neuroscience), a Provost Honour Roll Medal recipient, and is a published Educational Psychology Researcher.

With various experiences supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged populations (e.g., as a crisis hotline responder), he can elucidate and compassionately support the various learning and emotional needs of students. Teaching focuses include Biology 11-12, Chemistry 11-12, Physics 11-12, Science 9-12, Math 9-12, English 9-10. Simran enjoys exercising, board games, and music.

 

 

Ardenne K.

Ardenne is a first year Honours Health Science student at Marianopolis College. She has experience tutoring both elementary and high school students in a variety of subjects, particularly the sciences and math. Ardenne graduated high school with the Governor General Academic Medal, in addition to multiple other awards for academic achievements. Ardenne’s goal is for all students to find joy and success in learning. She strives to create a positive learning environment for her students as well as support them in developing their inner academic strength.

Mirabelle C.

Mirabelle is a dedicated educator with a strong academic background and a passion for helping students succeed. She holds a degree in Early Childhood Studies from Toronto Metropolitan University, and is on her way to graduate from York University with a Bachelor of Education. Her studies provide her with invaluable insights into child development, learning processes and teaching strategies. Mirabelle’s teaching philosophy is rooted in a child-centered and inquiry-based approach, with a commitment to making learning enjoyable and engaging for her learners. Brenda T.

Brenda T. is a dedicated educator with a strong academic foundation and extensive hands-on experience in the Primary/Junior division. She holds an Honours Bachelor’s degree in Children, Childhood, and Youth and is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Education at York University. With over two years of experience as an Early Childhood Assistant, working with students ranging from Preschool to Grade 6, Brenda has gained a deep understanding of pedagogy and student development. Her commitment to education goes beyond the classroom, as she volunteers at the Toronto Public Library, serving as a Leading-to-Reading Leader, providing individualized support to students in reading, writing, and mathematics. Brenda has also volunteered with the Toronto District School Board in various Elementary schools as a classroom assistant. Notably, Brenda brings valuable experience in working with children with special needs and learning disabilities, where her patient and inclusive approach has significantly contributed to their growth and development. Her everyday work resonates with dedication, passion, and genuine enthusiasm for teaching.

 

Taïs V.

EN: Taïs was born in France and graduated from high school in Montreal with a French Baccalaureate, making French her first language. She also speaks English and Spanish fluently.
Taïs studied in McGill University from which she obtained a bachelors in Biology, and she graduated with Honours and an Animal Health Specialization.
Last year, Taïs had the opportunity to travel to Ecuador where she worked as a volunteer in a small town to organize after-school activities for kids and help them with school work. Furthermore, her first jobs in Montreal consisted in being a summer camp counsellor in which she taught the basics of tennis, badminton, soccer, and swimming to several groups of kids (ranging from 4 to 14 years old).
Taïs is an enthusiastic, patient and social person, and believes her skills will hold a positive impact, learning-wise, on the kids she will tutor.

FR: Taïs est née en France et a obtenu un baccalauréat français à Montréal, ce qui fait du français sa première langue. Elle parle également couramment l’anglais et l’espagnol.
Taïs a étudié à l’Université McGill, où elle a obtenu une licence en biologie, avec mention très bien et une spécialisation en santé animale.
L’année dernière, Taïs a eu l’occasion de voyager en Équateur où elle a travaillé comme bénévole dans une petite ville pour organiser des activités parascolaires pour les enfants et les aider dans leurs travaux scolaires. De plus, ses premiers emplois à Montréal ont consisté à être monitrice dans un camp d’été où elle a enseigné les rudiments du tennis, du badminton, du soccer et de la natation à plusieurs groupes d’enfants (âgés de 4 à 14 ans).
Taïs est une personne enthousiaste, patiente et sociable, et croit que ses compétences auront un impact positif sur l’apprentissage des enfants qu’elle encadrera.

Maya S.

Maya is a Mathematics graduate from the University of Toronto who has been working in the education field for over 3 years.

Since completing her degree she has worked as a tutor for students of all ages and subjects. After becoming coordinator of a tutoring centre where she oversaw the academics of 100+ students, Maya decided to get back into the classroom and took on a supply position teaching grade 11 and 12 Maths, Physics and Computer Sciences.

In her free time, Maya enjoys spending time with her cat while catching up on the latest in hockey when she is not travelling.
