Katharine M.

Katharine is an accomplished educator with over a decade of teaching experience. Her educational journey has spanned from her early teaching days in England to her current role within the Toronto District School Board. Katharine possesses a solid academic background, including an Honours Bachelor of Arts and Science degree and a Bachelor of Education from Lakehead University. In addition to her foundational qualifications, she has earned specialized certifications in Special Education, English Language Learning (ELL), and Mathematics.

Katharine’s extensive knowledge and diverse teaching experiences reflect her unwavering commitment to fostering the growth and development of her students. With over 12 years of tutoring experience across a wide range of subjects, she excels in delivering tailored instruction.

Beyond her dedication to teaching, Katharine finds joy in various activities. She enjoys coding, walking her dog Konan, and reading.

 

 

 

 

 

Heidi T.

Heidi has a Bachelor of Arts degree (with distinction) in Early Childhoods Studies from Toronto Meteopolitan University and Bachelor of Education degree (with distinction) from York University. After graduating, she went back to York University to do her additional qualifications in Special Education, Intermediate Mathematics, and Senior First Nations, Mètis and Inuit Studies.

She has always had a passion for teaching children and has over 10 years of experience as a private tutor. Heidi has helped students with knowledge gaps in math and has helped students improve their reading levels. She is currently teaching elementary and middle schools in the Toronto District School Board. As a special resource teacher this year, Heidi has been supporting students one-on-one and in small groups for all subjects.

 

 

 

 

Suzanna N.

Suzanna’s journey as an educator started after completing the Toronto Metropolitan (previously known as Ryerson) University’s Early Childhood Education program ECE in 2012. She subsequently completed my Bachelor of Education in the Primary/Junior
division at York University in 2012. Since obtaining her university training, has been highly motivated in working with students at the primary junior level, and after working as an ECE for several years, in 2017 she became an occasional teacher for the Toronto District School Board. Since then, She has completed a series of LTOs ranging from kindergarten to grade 5 in various schools in Toronto. She has also completed a series of additional qualification courses pertaining to teaching both in special education and mathematics. She is currently on the “eligible to hire” list for the Toronto District School Board and is actively pursuing a permanent position as a full-time teacher at the Primary/ Junior level.

 

 

Andrew G.

Andrew is a certified OCT teacher with ten years of experience teaching in both French and English. He has taught full-time in public schools within the Toronto District School Board and the Peel District School Board for the last ten years.
Andrew is highly motivated, creative, and engaging teacher. Andrew has taught Performing Arts in French as a French Immersion Performing Arts Toronto District School Board teacher to over two hundred students in Kindergarten to Grade 5. Having taught the Performing Arts in French gives Andrew a unique perspective on French language acquisition. Students love to read, speak, and perform in French plays given the opportunity.
Andrew is currently a French Immersion Health and Physical Education teacher who teaches over two hundred students from Kindergarten to Grade 6 in the Toronto District School Board. While balancing coaching multiple sports teams, he has also led student council initiatives as well as organized assemblies for his current and past schools in both English and French. When leading student council initiatives or organizing school-wide assemblies, Andrew’s main goal is to prioritizing student voice and student engagement.
Andrew describes his main goal in teaching students is to increase their achievement in the areas of their learning. When teaching French, Andrew actively plans to individualize each student’s learning plan to acquire French language skills. Co-created goals have been proven to increase student engagement and achievement acquiring new skills and abilities. Andrew describes everyday being an opportunity to promote French language while individualizing French Health lessons and encouraging all of his students to achieve their goals.

 

 

 

 

Brianna M.

Brianna is currently pursuing a Masters in Teaching from University of Toronto’s OISE program. She completed her undergraduate degree in French studies with a minor in English, graduating with honours and a certificate of bilingualism. She enjoys working with children and incorporates fun into learning! With experience working at the YMCA’s before and after program as a team lead, as well as working full day kindergarten, Brianna feels well equipped to enhance the learning experience of any child from any learning background. She is organized, patient, and always willing to find another way around any problem. Brianna enjoys music, literature, and making new friends! She is determined to make a change in the educational system and help children feel that they are safe to ask any question. Her teaching style is inquiry-based and driven by a desire to make learning accessible and exciting.

 

 

Zierah S.

Zierah has completed her undergrad in Child and Youth Work at York University and is currently working toward her Bachelor of Education. She is also working as an Educational Assistant for the York Catholic District School board where she assists children and youth with special education needs in developing social and learning skills.

Zierah has worked with various age groups and excels in creating individual supporting plans to improve child’s development and independence though learning. Through her work with children she has developed a passion for putting a smile on every child’s face!

Anders H.

Anders is a Primary, Junior and Intermediate Ontario Certified Teacher working during the school year with the Simcoe County District School Board with over 20 years experience. He graduated from Lakehed University with an Bachelor of Natural Science degree and Bachelors of Education. Anders has continued his professional development in teaching by taking additional qualifications courses in becoming a Specialist in both Special Education and Physical Education. Recently, Anders completed the Principals Qualification Program with the Ontario Principals Council.

Anders has experience teaching at the Junior and Intermediate divisions in all subjects- Mathematics, Science, Geography, History, English, Social Studies . He also has extensive experience working with students that have Individual Education Plans to support their learning styles. Anders taught in an Intermediate Learning Center and gained valuable experience learning best practices in instructing students with a variety of different learning styles. He also spent time teaching in the Northwest Territories community of Whati working with First Nation students and immersing himself in the Tlicho culture to understand pedagogy with northern students.

Anders has learned over the past 20 years of teaching that in order for students to fully engage in your program he must build positive rapport with the student. He will create a relationship built on student interests and use those interests to help support the student their their learning journey. Creating that foundation of trust is the basis of Anders’ instructional practices in the classroom and will continue to that with Prep Academy Tutors.

When not in the classroom, you can either find Anders on a lake fishing or in a hockey arena! Anders has a passion for sports and was involved in hockey professionally for many years as an official and continues to do that today as both a Junior Hockey coach and referee. He is married to another teacher for 21 years and has two children. His daughter attends Queens University and is a member of the Womens Basketball Team and his son is currently in Grade 12 and his looking to pursuing a football scholarship at the post-secondary level. Anders is so excited to be a part of the Prep Academy team and looks forward to helping support students in their educational journey.

 

 

 

JODY M.

Jody M. has been an elementary educator for 26 years, in grades K-8, having spent 17 of those years in a self-contained 2nd grade classroom. She has taught in both urban and suburban settings, private and public schools. She and her husband live in Stratford, CT and have 3 grown children and 4 grandchildren. In her spare time, she likes to travel, bicycle, kayak and read. She looks forward to continuing to work with students!

Kate T.

Kate is qualified in Primary, Junior, Intermediate and Senior divisions. Kate has an undergraduate degree from Trent University (2018) in English Literature, with emphasis in Education and Linguistics. She has recently completed ABQ’s in Intermediate Physical Education and Senior FNMI Studies. Kate completed Special Education Part 1 after graduating from her Bachelor of Education at Nipissing University in 2021. Kate understands the importance of communication with guardians throughout the year to ensure the well-being and success of their child. She is sensitive to the learning and social needs of students and strives to ensure each student feels included within the classroom.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

INGRID L.

Ingrid was born and raised in Monterrey, Mexico. She graduated from ESNECA College with a Masters Degree in Clinic Psychopedagogy and from The University of Monterrey with a Bachelors Degree in Psychopedagogy. She recently moved to Vancouver and she is currently studying an ECE Diploma. Her experience in teaching grades 1 to 6 and specialization in inclusion of ASD and learning difficulties in the classroom have strengthened her education background.

Ingrid is a dedicated and passioned teacher who believes that children should be cherished in a safe, loving, and comfortable learning environment. Her beliefs are inspiring students to grow as passionate learners by expanding the traditional subjects and creating out of the curriculum meaningful experiences and opportunities to act with integrity and empathy and to become impactful global thinkers.

Belonging to a caring family, has shaped her into a more compassionate, kind and understanding person. It has instilled in her a strong sense of responsibility and a desire to reciprocate the care and love received from her family to the people around her.

In her spare time, she enjoys long walks in the outdoors, connecting with nature, coffee with friends and reading a good book.
