Jake S.
Jake is an Ontario Certified teacher at the Primary, Junior, and intermediate level. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Toronto Metropolitan University in 2021, and recently obtained his Bachelor of Professional Studies in Education degree from Niagara University.
Jake currently works for the York Region District School board. He also spent several years teaching and volunteering with the York Catholic District School Board. He has over 5 years of classroom experience, and has taught kindergarten to grade 8.
Jake believes that every student has a unique learning style and adapts his teaching approach to cater to their individual needs. He uses modern teaching strategies to help his students reach their full potential. His dedication to professional development keeps him up-to-date with the latest and most effective teaching strategies and resources. Jake is very passionate about teaching and will always go the extra mile to ensure that his students succeed and grow.
During his free time, Jake likes to play sports, walk his dogs, and read.
Jeorgina H.
Jeorgina is an Ontario Certified Teacher who finished her Bachelor in Elementary Education and Master of Arts in the Philippines. She taught Kindergarten to Grade 2 in the Philippines for more than a decade. After moving to Canada, she spent 12 years working in various Montessori child care centers, after which she pursued a diploma in Early Childhood Education, and working full time now in one of the exclusive childcares in Etobicoke. Jeorgina strongly believes that each child has their own style of learning as well as their own innate capabilities- which must be nurtured and respected. For her, it is important to understand each child’s unique needs and adapt the lessons as necessary.
ABDULAHI A.
Abdulahi has been quite the globetrotter from an early age. He was born in Mogadishu, Somalia; raised in Chicago, America; socialized and educated in Toronto-Windsor, Canada, which he now refers to as home. To date, Abdulahi has lived in five different countries (America, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates) and traveled to 55 others.
Abdulahi received an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Science and Environmental Science, and also a Bachelor of Education from the University of Windsor. Additionally, he completed many international language certificates. Prior to making the transition back to Canada, Abdulahi taught internationally at prestigious private schools for nearly a decade. These schools followed the Ontario, Alberta and IB curricula and framework.
As an extremely passionate educator, Abdulahi’s teaching experiences have helped him refine a personal teaching philosophy and pedagogy in education that combines the importance of inclusion within the classroom, ongoing feedback, respect, and creating meaningful student-centered lessons. Abdulahi’s defining characteristic as an educator revolves around the joy, pleasure and passion that he receives from teaching beyond the required curriculum. He branches off into various learning atmospheres by becoming actively involved in the development of the whole child. The ‘light bulb!’ moment in students and seeing everything begin to click for them provides him with an immense pleasure and continuously drives his passion and pedagogy as an educator. It is important to nurture a child’s creative abilities to develop a sense of themselves, understand others and the world around them, and navigate information so that they can confidently take risks and solve problems. Reflection and introspection are fundamental components of Abdulahi’s pedagogy and also his own personal growth and commitment to lifelong learning.
Tim K.
Tim K. is a Junior and Intermediate certified teacher. He graduated with a Marketing Degree from UOIT, Bachelor of Arts from Trent University and Master’s Degree in Science (MSc) from D’Youville University. Since graduating, he has taught for the past 16 years and continued to enrich his understanding through courses in special education, completing his work as a specialist.
Tim has had several years of private tutoring experience where he customizes the lessons to accommodate the diverse needs of the learner, all while providing a fun and engaging learning environment for everyone. In his leisure time, Tim is an avid chess player, coach and weightlifter.
Amy S.
Amy is an Ontario Certified Teacher who is qualified to teach any subject ranging from Kindergarten to Grade Eight. She is an aspiring educator who desires to co-construct safe learning environments with her students so that they feel empowered to explore their full potentials. Amy currently works full-time as a teacher with the York Region District School Board. She has a Bachelor of Education from York University and has worked for more than three years at various childcare and tutoring centres with her Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Studies that she obtained at Ryerson University. Amy is bilingual as she is fluent in both Korean and English.
Louisa S.
Louisa has earned her Bachelor of Commerce majoring in marketing at Concordia University. She has worked with elementary aged students as a tutor and camp counsellor. She is dedicated to student life and takes an active role in her community; she is patient and engaging!
ERIN B.
Erin graduated from a thesis-based Masters program in Physical Activity Sciences at Université de Montréal, with a specialization in Sport Psychology. She is bilingual and completed the majority of this degree in French. Previously, Erin attended StFX University, where she completed a Bachelor of Arts in Human Kinetics in the Pre-education stream, with a minor in French and a pair in Fine Arts. She is highly knowledgeable in the French language and in the areas of academic and scientific writing. Her primary teachables include French, English, Health, Science, and Art. Outside of school, Erin is a competitive track and field pentathlete and heptathlete, with a diverse athletic background in soccer and hockey which she competed in for over 15 years.
Erin has experience working with children of all ages as a track and field coach, gymnastics coach, lifeguard and swim instructor, and Fit 4 Life Student Leader.
Lauren L.
Lauren recently graduated from teachers college in Wales, Cardiff, and has a bachelor’s degree in Child and Youth Studies from Brock University. She has over 10 years of experience working with children as a City of Toronto Camp Instructor and YMCA Child Care staff. When she isn’t working she enjoys being creative and trying new recipes.
Lexie P.
Lexie is a third year Kindergarten/Elementary Education at McGill University with a specialization in English and Math. Lexie has extensive experience working in summer camps, daycares, and schools. Furthermore, she is well-versed in working with children with learning delays and other disabilities. Lexie is passionate about creating relationships with children and their families; as well as instilling a love of learning in all children.
Kelly N.
Kelly is currently in her 3rd year of her bachelor’s degree in biology at Concordia University. Having grown up anglophone and attending french schools her whole life, she is a perfectly bilingual tutor with upward of 3 years of experience. She has tutoring expertise in biology and math, as well as English and French. Having spent her summers at a sleepaway camp as a camper and staff member, she developed a deep appreciation of nature and the outdoors which led her to pursue a career in biology. In her spare time, she will often be found reading a book or crocheting in a park.
