MATTHEW G.

Matthew graduated from the University of Alberta’s Campus St Jean with a major in Social Studies and a minor in French Language Arts. He has taught French Immersion in Edmonton and Calgary for over 5 years, and has served as a tutor for over 10 years.

Today, Matthew is a law student at the University of Calgary. He remains highly passionate in working with students and helping them achieve their goals!

JAD C.

Jad has a Bachelor of Science graduated with honors as well as a Medical doctor- MD degree graduated with distinction. Finally, Jad holds many certificates, first one accomplished at University of Toronto – Department of psychology (Managing mental health) and the second one is a training certificate in medical lab science/ quality officer. He is a teacher of Math, Chemistry, Biology and physics for more than 9 years. He also taught pre-med courses online during Covid19 (Pathology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Anatomy and physiology).

QUEENIE D.

My name is Queenie D’Souza and I love teaching children. I have had the joy of working as an elementary teacher for the past 19 years for the Lester B. Pearson School Board. I am also a member of the Ontario College of Teachers, and last year, I acquired a Master’s of Arts Degree in Educational Technology from Concordia University. I am familiar with the Ontario Curriculum, and I have worked as an Occasional Teacher for both the Peel District School Board and the Toronto District School Board. I am currently teaching Grade 6 at Sherwood Heights Private School.

I was nominated for the Jean M. Gwyne award for excellence in student teaching during my 4th year practicum. In addition, I have a certification as a Reading Recovery Specialist, and I am an International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years (PYP) Certified teacher. I also have the knowledge and experience on how to modify and adapt the curriculum to assist ESL learners, students with special needs and varied learning styles.

I believe in having regular open lines of communication with my student’s parents in order to improve my learner’s academic performance. Lastly, I have a lot of one-on-one tutoring experience, and would love the opportunity of helping your child thrive and be successful to the best of his/her ability.

Katarina T.

Katarina is an aspiring teacher who is deeply committed to her studies and passionate about making a difference in the lives of her students. Currently, she is in her second year of the Bachelor of Education program at York University, where she is enhancing her skills and acquiring valuable experience in the field. She graduated from Queen’s University in 2020, where she earned a degree in science and established a solid foundation in Science and Math. This, coupled with her exceptional organizational and communication skills, makes her an excellent tutor. Katarina has a true passion for helping students grow and reach their full potential. With her experience as a Behaviour Therapist, Katarina works hard to help children with Autism acquire important life skills that will aid them in reaching their full potential. She understands that each student has unique strengths and weaknesses, and is committed to working with them in a personalized manner to help them achieve their goals. Her enthusiasm for education and her dedication to student success make her confident in her ability to provide high-quality support and guidance to those she works with.

Timothy A.

Tim has been a teacher with the Toronto District School Board since 2008. He has taught mathematics, science and English to students from grades 5 to 8. Tim has also taught in public school in Seoul, South Korea. As a graduate from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Science degree and Bachelor of Education degree, Tim is certified to teach in the Junior-Intermediate Division (grades 4 to 8) and the Intermediate-Senior Division (grades 9 to 12 science and mathematics). Tim also has a Master of Educational Technology degree from the University of British Columbia. He is interested in using various approaches to enhance student learning. In his spare time, Tim enjoys cooking, going to the gym, and travelling. He has been to South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Macao, Australia, Trinidad and Tobago, The Bahamas, England, France, and the United States. Tim is keen on learning about different cultures and languages. He looks forward to helping every child succeed.

Matthew O.

Matthew O’Reilly is an educator specializing in the arts and the humanities. He has his Honors Bachelors of Art, Bachelors of Education, and Masters of Education from Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario. He also holds a Masters of Fine Arts from the Alberta University of the Arts in Calgary. Matthew enjoys working with all age groups, having worked as a camp counselor, K-12 educator, and in post-secondary. In addition to being an educator, Matthew is an award winning emerging international artist, having been the recent recipient of the Canadian Clay and Glass Galleries Winifred Shantz Award. Matthew meets students where they are at and tailors his teaching approach to what each student needs. Gamifying, setting goals and tracking progress is Matthew’s favorite way to motivate students. Matthew helps students visualize difficult and abstract concepts by utilizing his strong background in the arts.

SERENA L.

Serena is a Teacher Candidate attending OISE in Toronto. Upon graduation, she will become an Ontario Certified Teacher. She completed her undergraduate studies in Hong Kong, England, and elsewhere, taking a wide range of courses, including humanities, mathematics, and computer science. She finds mathematics simple, straightforward, and clear. She has tutored many students to help them progress in their math and English courses, and it was through this experience she found her love for teaching and connecting with them on a deeper level. Serena has spent many years helping students to improve their academic, leadership, and problem-solving skills. She believes education means opportunity and is eager to help them on this journey.

When she is not busy with work and school, she enjoys traveling and cooking because they are full of certainty and uncertainty.

Nadia M.

Nadia Graduated with Honours from the University of Guelph-Humber in Early Childhood Education in 2020. She most recently in 2022 graduated with honours from York Universities Bachelors of Education program specializing in Primary Junior education. Nadia is passionate about continuing her teaching skills ,and her own learning. She is currently in the middle of completing her masters of teaching and learning through the University of Ottawa.

Nadia is a registered early childhood educator (RECE) and an Ontario certified teacher. Throughout my time studying in post- secondary education I have completed multiple placements working alongside experienced educators and mentors in the field of education. Nadia is very passionate about teaching young children through observation, listening, and interactive active play, that is focused on the interest of children in my care. I work hard to find new ways of working with children. She strives for success/ learning breakthroughs in all aspects of children’s everyday experiences and development of social, emotional, physical, and cognitive well-being.

A quote I truly believe and make great efforts to achieve in my teaching practice comes from Albert Einstein. He says “education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think”. I understand that children have such great potential and are the key to the future. It is my goal to unlock this potential and to see them flourish in their new skills. I want to help them to become the best being they can be and to grow up to be members of society that are driven, motivated, and present in all that they do.

Nadia is very passionate about the ideologies behind growth mindset practices, and helping children to see the value and good they bring to the world, and the understanding that they are all capable of great success if they truly begin to believe in themselves. Nadia is also an avid golfer, dancer, and health enthusiast that really believes in the importance of healthy mental health practices and habits.

Claire D.

Claire is enrolled at Brock University for Concurrent Education. She is an Ontario Certified Teacher qualified to teach students in Primary and Junior (K-6). She has attained a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) with a focus of Child and Youth Studies and attaining a Bachelor of Education. She has 9 years of teaching experience and has completed teaching placements in the DPCDSB and DSBN boards. Claire has taught all grades K-6, has been a supply teacher and has worked as an educational resource worker. She has also taught private to large class skating lessons administrated by the city to students as young as 4 to adults.

Claire has been recognized in honour for her leadership abilities including the Michael Tambureno Memorial Award, Ted Rogers Scholarship, and Principal Award.

Claire is a compassionate and kind educator as she fosters an inclusive and welcoming environment to all students. Her mission is to make learning as fun as possible! Reflecting students interests and accommodating various learning styles is part of her teaching style. She recognizes that students need to feel safe and comfortable to reach their full potential both academically and personally. She is dedicated to ensuring that students are given opportunities to ask lots of questions, share their curiosities, and explore during their learning. Claire enjoys hiking, snowboarding, hockey, tennis, and playing instruments, piano and guitar.

Nikki M.

Nikki has an Honours Bachelor of Science in Justice Studies from the University of Guelph, where she worked alongside a professor as a TA during her final semester. She also has over 7+ years of experience working with children, ages 2-15, with and without special needs as a preschool teacher, tutor, daycare worker, camp counsellor, and aquatics instructor.

Nikki also has experience working as an academic coach and helping students with their note-taking, organization, and executive function skills. She is qualified to teach all subjects at the Primary Junior Level (PreK-6) and specializes in English, Law, Politics, Humanities, and Social Sciences at the Intermediate, Senior and Post-Secondary Levels.

Most importantly, Nikki is patient as she understands that every student has their own pace and unique way of learning. While continuing her professional development, she also enjoys swimming, volunteering and travelling.
