Clara D.

Clara has a Master’s Degree in Child Study and Education and is a fully certified Primary/Junior teacher. She is passionate about outdoor education, inquiry-based learning and trying new things! After working abroad for 3.5 years, Clara is excited to return to Canada and to bring her experience and passion for teaching to a new position.

CADEAN S.

Cadean is an Ontario Certified Elementary School Teacher with over 15 years of teaching experience. She has her Master’s of Science in Education and as well as an Honour Bachelor of Arts Degree. Most of Cadean’s experience is teaching kids from kindergarten to grade 6 in the following subjects: Language (reading, writing, speaking and media), Math, Core French, Science and Social Studies. She also has a great deal of experience teaching Kindergarten students as well as teaching kids how to read. During her free time, Cadean enjoys reading, cooking and exercising.

James F.

James is an Ontario Certified teacher. He grew up in Toronto, getting a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and working as an Early Childhood Educator for over 6 years. As an Early Childhood Educator James created lesson plans, performed assessments for learning and worked with schools to better advance the students learning while in childcare. After working as an ECE, James went to York University and got his Undergraduate Degree in Communications; leading to a job as the Communications Manager at Ondas FM. While working during the pandemic James felt like teaching was his main purpose and is now in his final year of Teachers College at York University. He has worked as a Teaching Candidate for a Kindergarten class as well as a tutor for Elementary School students over the last year supporting students in their reading, writing, vocabulary as well as math skills. James has a passion in creative writing and brings in his background in Communications and Early Childhood Education while teaching and tutoring students.

Sophia C.

Sophia is an alumna of The Study School and Marianopolis College and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce at Concordia University, majoring in Finance with a minor in Marketing. With over three years of experience tutoring students at the elementary, high school, and CEGEP levels, Sophia is dedicated to helping students achieve their academic objectives. She is highly adaptable, tailoring her teaching methods to suit the individual learning needs of each student, and is always ready to embrace challenges to ensure her students succeed. Sophia finds great joy in watching her students reach their “aha” moments and is passionate about empowering them by instilling strong organizational and time management skills to help them reach their full potential!

KELLY J.

Kelly Johnson is a certified teacher who has been teaching in Ontario for over 20 years. If you are looking for an expert in her field, with a special knack for making connections and working with children to develop a positive mindset toward learning and improvement, Kelly is the tutor for your child. A true professional, Kelly is a lifelong learner. She understands that learning can present challenges, but there is always a path for growth when you have the right help. Kelly has earned Part 1 of Special Education and her Guidance Specialist. She is currently working on earning her Teacher Librarian additional qualification. Patient and kind, Kelly will help even the most reluctant learner begin to advocate for themselves and take accountability for their engagement in their studies. Her students will tell you that they enjoy her sense of humour, her caring nature and her calm disposition. It won’t take long for your child to warm up to Kelly and begin their learning journey. She enjoys teaching literacy and she is an avid reader – a lover of all books. In addition to being a teacher, Kelly is a wife and mom to two children and one furry animal named Buddy. When your child works with Kelly, you will see that she is compassionate and committed to their success.

Nicole C.

Nicole Camilleri is an Ontario Certified Teacher. She grew up in Mississauga, moving to Hamilton to complete an Undergraduate Degree in Early Childhood Leadership. She also has a diploma in Early Childhood Education and Educational Assistance. Nicole received her Bachelor of Education from Brock University. Nicole grew up with a deep love of soccer, travel and all things nature and outdoors. Before completing her Bachelor of Education Nicole worked for Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board as an Early Childhood Educator, where she was intrigued by the child’s mind and furthered her studies becoming an Educational Assistant and working with high needs students on the autism spectrum. It was during her time working with special needs students that she discovered her patience, passion for teaching and her desire to work with children on a higher level. When she decided to pursue teaching as a career Nicole moved to London and is now teaching with the London District Catholic School Board. It is through teaching that Nicole has been able to foster her love of the mind with a focus on mental health/well being and language/ literacy. During the summer months, Nicole runs a Soccer Camp that encourages children to learn about themselves through interactive and hands-on experiences, promoting social growth and physical activity. In her spare time Nicole works one-on-one with children ranging from 6 years through middle school. She has supported the improvement of their reading, writing, vocabulary and math skills in these initiatives. Nicole believes that by building a strong relationship with her students she is better able to meet their needs and grow their learning. As a mentor Nicole continues to develop strategies for working with children. She finds these experiences enjoyable and extremely rewarding.

Shathusha P.

Shathusha is a current student at OISE completing her Master of Teaching (P/J) while also working towards receiving her TESL certification at Seneca college. She has completed her undergrad at York University with a major in Child and Youth Studies and a minor in Human Rights and Equity Studies. Shathusha has been tutoring for over 7 years and she ensures her students receive the best support. Before being accepted to her Master, Shathusha was a grade 7 and 8 teacher at a private school. She taught all the core subjects (Math, Language Arts, Science, History, Geography, and Art). She loves being able to educate our future leaders and she does so with passion and purpose. She is patient, flexible, positive, consistent, dependable, and cooperative with a sense of humor. She enjoys reading during her free time, baking treats, and going on long walks.

JAMIE Z.

Jamie is currently a grade 2/3 teacher with the Toronto District School Board. He holds a Bachelor of Arts, a Master of Teaching in Elementary Education, and is currently completing his Master of Arts in Social Justice Education. He also holds additional qualifications in Special Education, Primary/Junior Literacy, Mathematics, Reading, ESL, and Kindergarten.
During the summer months, Jamie fulfills the role of Program Director with Westcoast Connection. Over the past 10 summers he has directed programs all over Canada, USA, Europe and Australia.

Sarah M.

Sarah MacDonald is a Certified Elementary and Core French Teacher. She is borrowed by the mountains, but belongs to the ocean, as she grew up on the East Coast in Nova Scotia. Sarah graduated high school with French Immersion and her DELF French Proficiency Certificate. She went on to complete both her Bachelor of Kinesiology (‘18) and Bachelor of Education (‘20) at Acadia University.

Sarah has 3 full-time years of classroom teaching under her belt, with a wide range of grade levels and subjects taught. Most of her time has been spent teaching grade 6 (all subjects), and grades 4-9 core French. She has also taught junior high social studies, art, and health, as well as K-3 English Language Arts.

Sarah’s teaching experience goes beyond the four classroom walls. She is also a certified swim instructor, and spent the summer working for WETS Kelowna, and she teaches highland dance.

With this range of ages and abilities, Sarah recognizes that building relationships and ensuring students feel they play an active role in their learning is a major key to success. She understands each child learns differently and makes it a priority to engage learners in ways that make sense for them.

Sarah’s goal when tutoring is to foster personalized, one-on-one interactive and engaging lessons. She believes in developing a deep understanding rather than memorization, and often incorporates the student’s curiosity and interests to make learning more meaningful (and fun!).

In her spare time, Sarah loves to play and watch sports, explore the outdoors, and spend time with friends and family. She loves a good punchline, her cat, Rhubarb, and will never turn down a snack!

AMY C.

Amy is an energetic, creative and passionate teacher who has strived to spark a love of learning in all of her students. Amy graduated from Brock University with a Bachelors of Education and Bachelors of Physical Education (Honours). Additionally, Amy has an AQs (additional qualifications) in Primary Education, Math Specialist Part 1 and English as a Second Language Part 1. After the completion of her degrees, Amy took the opportunity to explore the world teaching at Canadian International Schools in Shanghai, Malaysia, South Korea and Hong Kong. Amy was able to gain experience teaching various grades within primary elementary. Amy returned back home to Canada last year and is currently teaching Grade 4 at a Toronto Private School. Amy specializes in primary years education and enjoys creating personalized one-on-one lessons that cater to students’ natural curiosity and interests. The moments when students make learning connections are what drives her passion and love for teaching and learning everyday. In her spare time, Amy enjoys playing a variety of sports (soccer, badminton, tennis), learning Salsa, traveling to new places (most recently Africa) and spending quality time with family and friends
