Nicole F.
Nicole graduated from York University in 2021, with her Bachelor Degree in Children’s Studies and a Bachelor of Education primary/junior. Nicole has immense experience in working with various children of various communities and has experience in working with children in the spectrum, such as; ADHD, autism and behavioural exceptionalities. Nicole is very familiar in working with various modes of technologies and using different technological programs that are available for students such as Lexia and Prodigy. Nicole, was raised in Etobicoke and is very involved in the community and the Portuguese community as well. After taking Portuguese at York University she then received the opportunity to teach both virtually and in-person for the Toronto Catholic District School Board’s Portuguese, International Language program and has learned to meet students needs both in person and online.
Nicole’s passion in teaching began when she was a young girl and she would ask her cousins and friends to be her students as she “taught” class. Nicole has come from a family of educators and has learned the importance of assisting others and meeting other needs through them. On Nicole’s free time she loves to cook, swim, and spend time with her puppies and family. She is very family oriented and truly enjoys taking care of her elderly grandparents. Nicole is very passionate about working with children and assisting children surpass their barriers and exceed their expectations
SHAWNEE W.
Shawnee has a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Calgary. Prior to completing her Education program, Shawnee received degrees in Geological and Biological Sciences. Shawnee has taught various subjects and grade levels; her primary experience is teaching Junior High math and science. She loves watching students grow and develop and helping to facilitate that.
Shawnee’s personal interests include working in animal rescue, spending time camping with her family and travelling.
Lauren C.
Lauren has worked for 13 years as a Primary teacher for the York Region District School Board (YRDSB), received her certification as a Reading Specialist and she is currently completing courses to receive her certification in Special Education. Her journey into teaching began as a graduate of the Claude Watson School for the Arts in Toronto. She went on to teach and support the audition process for this esteemed program. She then received her Bachelor of Arts Honors degree in Kinesiology from Western University. While attending Western University, she started an acrobatics program and taught many dance students at a local dance studio. Pursuing her passion for teaching, she then went on to complete her Bachelor of Education in Primary/Junior at York University. Throughout her educational experiences, Lauren has made time to volunteer in TDSB schools to support student learning.
Lauren’s excellent teaching style in literacy has been used as an example for YRDSB teachers and for hands-on mathematical learning for international YRDSB guests. She keeps busy by running a Kindergarten classroom with a focus on individual inquiry-based learning experiences. Lauren understands that students have different styles of learning and she tailors her approach to ensure each students’ experiences are meaningful and utilize their strengths (e.g., memory, visual, tactile).
Lauren is an energetic and dedicated teacher. As a mother of two young children and an experienced member of the Ontario Qualified Teachers association, she knows what it takes to help children learn and is passionate about education and her students.
Christine L.
Christine J. Loh, PMP, ISTQB certified and is a Manager of Data Science at a tech start-up. A former national mathematics contest competitor from Toronto, Ontario, she earned her bachelors from the University of Toronto. Her students come from a diverse background and needs (AP/IB/remedial/SAT/SSAT/PSAT/GMAT/competitions ie. Caribou, Canadian Math League, Waterloo contests, Kangaroo, Beaver etc) She collaborates with parents, tutoring companies, consultants, and organizations to promote mathematics excellence and equity for young people. Her students have gained interviews to the University of Toronto Schools, scored in the top 2-15% of admission tests, top 7-30% of worldwide/national math contests. top 7% in Ontario, and top 10% in Peel District School Board. Christine has been recognized as the Tutor of the Month, for her efforts. She has also published an article in “Authority Magazine” entitled “5 Things You Need To Know To Be A Highly Effective Educator”. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, chess, travelling, and playing the violin.
SHANNON O.
Shannon is currently a grade 6/7 Teacher with the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board. She received her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology at Queens University in 2016. In addition, she obtained her Bachelor of Education and her Masters in Education at Lakehead University. Shannon is qualified to teach Kindergarten to Grade 12 and has Special Education qualifications and experience as a Special Education Teacher. Over the years she has had hands-on experience with all grades and one-on-one tutoring elementary students in math and reading. Shannon’s diverse experiences working with students of all ages and backgrounds, as a coach and school teacher have framed her love of learning and passion to teach. She loves sharing her passions for learning with children by helping them become kind, responsible, confident and active citizens that have what it takes to change the world. She also helps students realize they have the ability to reach their full potential in all aspects of life. Additionally, Shannon worked with high school students in a variety of courses through credit recovery programs and specializes in Physical Education, Science and Biology. Coaching children for over 10 years is one of Shannon’s greatest passions. As a certified coach in gymnastics, lacrosse and cheerleading, she has spent a great deal of her spare time working with children prior to becoming a teacher. Her personal experience as a competitive athlete in gymnastics, lacrosse and cheerleading allowed her to share her expertise in these sports. She is a natural leader in all aspects of life. Shannon also has a great deal of experience organizing, planning and working summer camps
VANESSA B.
In 2017, Vanessa received her Bachelor of Education at Lakehead University in the Primary/Junior division. As well as having received her Bilingual Bachelor of Liberal Arts in Hispanic Studies from York University’s Glendon Campus in 2015, Vanessa was previously working as a Dental Assistant at Mount Sinai Hospital before deciding to go back to school to become a teacher. She was motivated and became passionate about teaching after her experience working at the hospital, alongside resident doctors, faculty of dentistry students and assisting in running a weekly specialty clinic for patients with developmental disabilities.
Vanessa is currently teaching in the Toronto District School Board. She has further developed her teaching skills by continuing to work on her professional development. She has attained her additional qualifications in Special Education: Part 1, Mathematics Part 1 & 2, Environmental Education Part 1, First Nations, Metis and Inuit Studies, and has training in Literacy Programs, Wilson and Direct Instruction: Expressive Writing and Corrective Reading Comprehension. She has built a variety of strategies and resources in working with diverse learners and has been able to apply them to all areas of her teaching. She is able to create fun, educational and engaging lessons for her students while simultaneously following the Ontario Curriculum and IEP guidelines. She respects that each student is unique in their process of learning and believes in the importance of creating an inclusive environment that values the individual learning needs of each student.

During her free time, Vanessa likes to spend as much time outdoors as possible. She enjoys hiking, camping and exploring with her family, as well as working out regularly to stay active and mindful. She believes that good health and well-being is key to being successful in all other areas of life.
