TONYA U.
Tonya was born in Ukraine and moved to Canada in 2000. She holds a Master’s Degree in Linguistic from Odessa State University, Ukraine.
Tonya is Qualified as a Linguist, Teacher of English Language and Literature. She is certified by the Ontario College of Teachers (473290). In Canada, Tonya completed her Basic Qualifications in Intermediate and Junior Divisions-Dramatic Arts. In addition, she took Junior and Primary Divisions courses and is qualified to teach grades K to 12. She completed the 3-part Special Education Specialist course, as well as Literacy and Reading, Additional Qualification courses in Primary and Junior Mathematics (Parts 1 and 2), and ESL (Parts 1 and 2).
Her career as an educator began in Ukraine, where she had taught English as a Foreign Language for 10 years. In Canada, she now has 10 years of a successful Special Education Teacher career as well as an Elementary Homeroom Teacher in Northern Ontario, Nunavut and Toronto.
Tonya is not only passionate about teaching but also about traveling, adventure and meeting new people.
She has helped many students catch up with current grade level expectations, enhance grades, boost confidence and establish effective study routines. Tonya firmly believes that every child can succeed when taught in accordance with their unique learning style and abilities. She always strives to establish a personal connection with her students and empowers them to become independent lifetime learners.
KIMBERLY S.
Kimberly is a multifaceted teacher that has taught in various classroom settings and grade levels. She served on various school improvement teams, education coordinator, and served as a team leader, a Kid Tech Nation administrator, and a cooperating teacher for future educators. She is recognized as a passionate, student-centered educator. She continuously seeks to improve learning and student success. She earned her B.A. degrees in Education and Bio-Psychology from the University of New Brunswick. She also holds her Human Service Counselor degree and has years of experience working with youth with mental illnesses. Kimberly has dedicated herself to becoming a life-long educator and learner, and she strives to instill a similar desire in all the students with whom she works. As an educational leader and advocate Kimberly volunteers and helps families with life skills that are both practical and beneficial in their daily lives.
ROSEMARY M.
An academic, experienced business professional and translator (English and Spanish), Rosmery has over 15 years of experience teaching Spanish, Literature and Writing courses. She believes that education enables us to stand on our own feet, especially when character-building is promoted in our daily interactions. Rosmery loves working with people from around the world, and her background in professional translation has afforded her unique perspectives on culture and communications in North and South America. PEARL C.
Pearl is a caring and thoughtful teacher looking to inspire all her students to be successful learners. Pearl graduated from Brock University in the Concurrent Education program with a Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Arts in Child and Youth Studies. She also has additional qualifications in Special Education, English as a Second Language, Reading, Kindergarten, and Primary/Junior Math. Pearl is currently a teacher with the Halton District School Board working with a variety of students in an ESL teacher role. Pearl is very dedicated to her students and always encourages them to reach their full potential. Pearl loves to make learning fun and is looking forward to inspiring her students to be motivated learners and critical thinkers!
Tareque M.
Tareque is a graduate from the University of Toronto who completed a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities, majoring in English and History. Currently, Tareque is enrolled in the Master of Teaching program at University of Toronto/OISE, and is in process of becoming a Certified Ontario Teacher. As an MT, Tareque is researching the benefits and ways of integrating video games as a pedagogy and course material in the classroom. Tareque hopes video games as course material can lead to new ways of learning and more representation of underrepresented skills. Tareque also has TEFL/TESOL certification, and taught ESL/EFL to numerous students, ranging from young children to seniors. Tareque’s tutoring philosophy is to encourage heuristic learning, help develop good study habits, and find the student’s potential through differentiated learning, which is to approach their learning with an emphasis on their strengths and preferences. Tareque also has interests in music, film, reading, writing fiction, video games, and karaoke.
