Anya B.
Anya is a French, ESL, and Social Sciences teacher with ten years of experience, working with children from K to 12. She has also worked as a French instructor for adults. Anya is currently completing a Master’s degree in European and Russian Affairs at the University of Toronto and is passionate about history, literature, and languages. She is a native Russian speaker, fluent in French and Spanish, and has also studied German and Yiddish. Anya is excited to be joining Prep Academy Tutors and sharing her passion for learning with new students.
Raquel R.
Raquel is an Ontario Certified teacher qualified in the primary/junior division. She has an honours undergraduate degree in children, childhood, and youth studies, as well as a bachelor of education from York University. She has worked with children in various settings, such as after-school programs, tutoring, co-op, placement, and now as a teacher. She has supported the improvement of students in writing, reading, and math during one-on-one sessions through tutoring. She has a passion for travelling and often makes plans to adventure out to different places to explore and immerse herself in the cultures. She fluently speaks Portuguese. She also loves being creative, and in her spare time, she likes to embroider, crochet, and paint. As a mentor, she looks to gain more knowledge and experience working with students of various learning capabilities and to inspire students to believe they can succeed
STEPHEN N.
Stephen is an Ontario Certified Teacher, with an undergraduate degree in History and Sociology from Queen’s University, a Masters in Teaching from the University of Toronto, and a Masters of Education from the University of Vancouver Island. Born in Toronto, Stephen grew up in Peterborough, and after completing his teacher education spent six years living and teaching high school History and Law in British Columbia. He considers teaching an incredible profession for the connections and bonds he’s made, and the ability to help his students both academically and with exploring their aspirations for the future. This mindset has pushed him to meet people from all over the world, and fostered a love of travelling to learn more about other cultures and their day-to-day experiences. Having taught professionally in Canada and South Korea, Stephen has experience in supporting his students with all forms of academia, specializing in essay-writing, persuasive vocabulary, and writing in the third-person. He truly thinks teaching should be fun, rewarding, and will invest the time and effort to make it so.
Namam P.
Namam Palander is a thoroughly experienced advocate for holistic education; something she passionately aims to facilitate. Using this Scandinavian model of pedagogy, she has taught English all over the world including Sweden as well as South Korea. She holds a Double Undergraduate Degree in Political Science and Psychology from Wilfrid Laurier University as well as a Master’s Degree in Sociology of Education from University of Toronto.

Ines has a Master Degree in Marketing and has a Bachelor degree in Education. She is an Ontario Certified Teacher with 10 years of teaching experience. Ines is a native french who teaches maths, sciences and french at a public elementary school. Additionally, she completed an AQ (additional qualification) in Special Education. She has a strong experience working with students with special needs (Autistic spectrum, TDAH, learning disabilities, dyslexia, dyscalculia …).
Ines has a true passion for helping students grow and reach their full potential, she is committed to working with them in a personalized manner to help them achieve their goals.

ANGELO K.
Angelo Kontos is enjoying a long and rewarding career in education. Angelo has worked in a variety of roles for over twenty years, including being a Global Studies and English teacher, and curricular head. After gaining several years of experience teaching and developing courses, Angelo realized how important it was to a school to have passionate and caring vice-principals and principals, so he made a rewarding transition into administration and works as a secondary school principal with the Peel District School Board. He thrives on the daily challenges of leading a busy high school and the energy of his students. Angelo is a passionate learner, and often says the best school leaders always think of themselves as teachers first. Before completing his teaching certification, Angelo earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Honours Degree with York University. Over the years Angelo has added several qualifications to his professional practice, including specialists in Writing and Contemporary Studies. Angelo loves writing and he recently self-published a novel called The Tournament. In his spare time, when he is not writing, Angelo is reading, exercising, or taking his adorable but highly sensitive dog for walks.
KYLE X.
Kyle is a multilingual professional with a wealth of experience in leadership, networking, and tutoring. He was born in East Asia, speaks English, Cantonese, and Mandarin fluently, and is actively learning Italian, Arabic, Spanish, French, and Korean. With six years of tutoring experience teaching students from primary, university, and ESL adult backgrounds, Kyle is passionate about teaching English, social sciences, history, and economics as a result of his academic background. His love for teaching is evident in the way he connects with his students and fosters a positive learning environment. Kyle’s leadership skills are also impressive, having founded and served as the chapter president of My Networking Club, a registered charity where he managed a team of over 20 executives to craft growth plans for six key events that connect university students to industry professionals for networking, mentorship, and internship opportunities. Under Kyle’s leadership, the club achieved membership growth of over 100 members and 300+ attendees from top companies in Canada. Kyle’s academic achievements are equally notable, with a GPA of 3.9/4.0 and a place on the Dean’s Honor Roll at York University. With a genuine passion for education, coupled with his leadership skills and academic achievements, Kyle is poised to make a significant impact in his future endeavors.
LESLEY C.
Lesley has a Bachelor of Arts in English literature and a Secondary School Education Diploma from McGill University. In addition to 10 years of private tutoring experience in Toronto, she has been teaching with the TDSB for 25 years. While Lesley currently instructs English (9-12), math (9-10), civics & careers, she is also qualified in French (intermediate 9/10).
In conjunction with helping students excel in rigorous curriculum expectations, such as advanced essay skills, Lesley has 20 years of expertise in teaching school success strategies related to mental health diagnoses (such as anxiety or depression), ADHD and executive functioning (organizing, prioritizing, time-management) learning disabilities. She finds that her experience in DBT & therapeutic techniques related to test anxiety and academic procrastination / perfectionism allow her to bring a deeper learning experience to students who feel they are sometimes misunderstood by the education system.
Lesley’s goal as a tutor is to work together with students and parents to achieve success in the teen’s courses by finding creative solutions for engagement, motivation and increased confidence. Her caring, patient, authentic and youthful personality would make her an excellent choice for your teen!
In addition to her love of teaching, Lesley is a passionate traveler and writer. She has backpacked over 25 countries and has published two literary fiction novels with Penguin Books.
ALICE D.
Alice is a teacher candidate in her final year at the University of Toronto. She will be a high school science teacher specializing in biology and general science, and will also be teaching social sciences. She completed a Bachelor of Science degree specializing in Biology at the University of Ottawa but had a wide range of interests and took a variety of courses including math, physics, chemistry, psychology, anthropology and history. In addition to academics, she is an RCM certified piano instructor and has worked as a certified ski instructor. Alice believes that learning is most successful when a teacher explores and draws upon the students’ interest. She believes that it is also essential to make learning fun and to tie the content to everyday life making it meaningful and applicable for the student. In addition to teaching and learning, she enjoys, reading, waterpolo, crocheting and music.
