ABY C.
Abygaile is a former Registered Early Childhood Educator that is currently pursuing her Masters in Teaching through the Ontario Institute of Studies in Education (OISE), a faction of the University of Toronto. She is currently in her second year of the program and has completed two practicums in the Greater Toronto Area. Her first practicum was a grade 8 classroom where she taught History, Health and Physical Education, and Literacy to her students. During her second practicum she was able to deliver quality lessons in Social Studies, Math, Religion, Literary, Health and Physical Education and Science to a group of students with various learning abilities. The foundation of her lessons are rooted in the Ontario curriculum. She strives to provide students with lessons that foster their critical lens to enhance their agency through a growth mindset towards learning and education; skills she believes all students must develop.
Abygaile completed her Early Childhood Education diploma through Centennial College and has completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto. She had worked within the childcare field for two years before pursuing her teaching career. She has worked with children in varying age groups from preschool to grade 8. She has implemented lessons based off of her student’s individualized needs and interests to make learning fun and engaging. Outside of education, Abygaile enjoys traveling and learning about different cultures through their cuisine.
Katrina B.
Katrina received her Honours Bachelor Degree from the University of Toronto with a major in English Literature and a double minor in History and Political Science. She also holds a Masters in Education with a focus on English and Special Education. Katrina is currently a secondary school teacher with the Peel District School Board, where she teaches English (all levels, including IB and Vocational) and Special Education. Throughout her career, Katrina has maintained a desire to gain rich and varied teaching experiences and is therefore active within her high school and within her community as Katrina believes that connecting with the various interests and hobbies of her students’ will strengthen bonds and enrich the learning experience by connecting the curriculum to real life. Throughout her career and through various volunteer placements, Katrina has worked with many students of various ages who had behavioural and developmental learning exceptionalities and, by doing so, helped students gain confidence and positive results with reading and writing skills. Katrina believes that building relationships and fostering resilience is essential in order to help build confident learners who are able achieve success in all aspects of life. Katrina takes pride in helping her students to reach their full potential and encourages a range of skills to help ensure they are successful in both their academic and personal lives.
