ALEC M.

Alec is an Ontario-certified History/Social Sciences teacher and current M.A. History student at the University of Toronto. Before moving to Toronto, he completed his Bachelor of Education at the University of Ottawa, specializing in Grade 4-10 History. Before that, he graduated from Queen’s University in 2016 with an honour’s degree in History and World Religion. He began teaching ESL to students of all ages in 2016 while living in Europe. He speaks French and a little Spanish and loves learning new languages. He has taught Grade 3-4 Core French, Grade 7/8 Language Arts, History, and Health, and Grade 6/7 English Literacy in the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB). He also taught various subjects – primarily English, Social Studies, and Physical Education – from kindergarten to Grade 10 in the Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est (CECCE). In his spare time, he loves to play music with his siblings, especially guitar and bass. He also loves to play and coach basketball and is a huge Toronto Raptors fan. He has some suggestions for how the team could be improved but does not have the influence to secure a meeting with management. Since 2010, he has been a support worker for an individual with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and their family. What he loves most about teaching is seeing students gain confidence in themselves.

Emma T.

Emma has her diploma in Early Childhood Education from Sheridan College and is currently at Nipissing University pursuing her Bachelors of Education in the Primary/Junior French as a Second Language division.

Meriem T.

Meriem is an enthusiastic and hardworking teacher with strong interpersonal communication skills. She is currently a student in the primary/junior division of the French Bachelor of Teaching program at the University of Ottawa.

Meriem has been a French tutor to both children and adults of various levels. She additionally has in-class experience teaching the French, mathematics and science curricula, and has taught for two years at a virtual university

In addition to her teaching experience, Meriem has a strong background in the sciences: she is a Biology Engineer and holds two master’s degrees in Drug Development and Quality Management.

Meriem’s teaching style is primarily centered on class engagement. She adapts her teaching style to cater for everyone and makes the material as interesting as possible. Meriem has an approachable and inclusive style of teaching that is flexible enough to cater for a diverse range of learning styles, needs and requirements. She is aware that establishing a positive rapport with students can enhance their learning process.

 

Tessa N.

Originally from Vancouver, Tessa came to Toronto to pursue studies in physics and mathematics at the University of Toronto. Now in the second last year of her degree, she is passionate about sharing the joys of scientific learning with students of all ages. With 5 years of private tutoring experience in her pocket, Tessa is dedicated to providing her students with high quality support through the use of personalized learning plans, stimulating regimens, and focus on strong foundations. Tessa has tutored high school students in mathematics, physics, English, and French, covering mathematics and physics into the university level. When she is not pouring over her physics homework, Tessa can be found going for long walks with her golden retriever and contemplating the philosophical implications of quantum field theory. Having worked as a lead instructor at PACE Summer Camps and a cycling teacher at Pedalheads in Vancouver, BC, Tessa has ample experience working with children aged 8-17 and hopes to inspire each student to unlock their potential and achieve success. Motivated by the notion that learning starts with believing in one’s own abilities, she is eager to help all students excel

 

LINDSAY S.

 

Lindsay Séguin is an Ontario Certified Teacher. She grew up in Scarborough, Ontario and completed a Bachelor of Arts, Honours Degree, with a double major in English and History, at York University and was on the Dean’s Honour Roll. Her studies included a year abroad at the University of York in the U.K. which led to many great friendships and amazing travel opportunities. As well, she completed a Bachelor of Education at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (known now as Ontario Tech University) with Highest Distinction. In addition to travelling during her year of study in the U.K., Lindsay has taken the opportunity to continue to explore the world following the completion of her degrees. She has also pursued new teaching interests through the completion of additional qualifications, most notably in the areas of French as a Second Language (Parts 1 and 2) and Guidance and Career Education. She has also completed Wilfrid Laurier University’s mental health in the classroom certificate so that she can better meet the needs of her students. Lindsay possesses the qualifications to teach from Kindergarten to grade 12 and has experience teaching at both the elementary and secondary levels, but is currently teaching full-time at the secondary level. Lindsay is dedicated to helping her students thrive and grow so they can meet their full potential. For this reason, in addition to her teaching responsibilities, Lindsay is involved in extracurricular sports and student associations in her school. In her spare time, Lindsay enjoys hiking, skiing, paddle boarding and swimming, as well as spending time with her friends and family.

PATRICIA B.

 

Patricia was trained as a fashion designer, holding degrees from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, as well as Université de La Sorbonne and Esmod in Paris, France.

Patricia has held various roles in the fashion industry, with expertise in fabric development, coupled with design and illustration. She was amongst the original three-member team that started Women’s Black Label at Ralph Lauren and other New York brands. During her career in the fashion industry, Patricia was communicating daily with France and Italy.

Currently Patricia teaches art to children and adults as well as French and Italian conversation servicing Westchester communities.

Traveling and family captivate her the most! She is inspired by people and everything that “makes them tick,” as she would say. Originally from upstate New York, Patricia really enjoyed living for years in Paris and Italy. This fed her passion for languages.

Emma J.

Emma is a passionate and enthusiastic Educator. She teaches Gr. 2/3 during the day and spends her free time expanding her connections with students through tutoring. Emma attended Queen’s University and received a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in 2019, and a Bachelor of Education in 2020. Emma has teaching qualifications across all ages and has additional qualifications in Math, French, Social Science, and Family Studies. She is a friendly and upbeat person who is eager to share her love of learning with others.

Pieter B.

Pieter grew up between North America and Europe (Canada, USA, France, UK). He went to Middlebury College in Verrnont for his BA in Spatial Analysis and Human Ecology and to School for International Training, also in Vermont, for his MA in International Administration, and Cross-Cultural Teaching & Training. After work in cultural exchange and education, tourism, theatre performance and others, he has been teaching in Ontario at the high school and intermediate levels, with Ontario Certification.
The arts and humanities, and more specifically Extended French and Immersion have been foremost. Positions in international and private schools, as well as the Toronto District School Board, and in Ontario & France have also included the IB Theory of Knowledge and the IGCSE from the UK.
Interests include hiking, skiing, sailing, horseback riding, cycling, writing, photography, and environmental issues.
He likeshing for it’s involvement with young people who are discovering who they are, gaining skills, perspectives and structures which will serve them for many years. He finds that the energy of students, and his own, form a synergy of discovery for all involved. An attempt is made to connect learning to a student’s curiosity and experience and encourage new avenues of thought and action. This is a teacher who really enjoys his students and lifelong learning.

KIM B.

Kim has a Bachelor of Science (Biology) from the University of British Columbia and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Calgary (with a specialization in French). She has over 7 years of experience teaching in classrooms and extensive tutoring experience. Education is her passion and she enjoys finding unique ways to engage each student she works with to accelerate their academic progress and confidence in themselves.

Kim is a Masters level synchronized swimmer, she loves to hike with her golden retriever and she also enjoys teaching swimming and lifeguarding. In addition to teaching, travel is a huge part of Kim’s life and one of her favourite experiences was swimming 25km around the Greek Islands.

ZOYA K.

Zoya graduated from the University of Western Ontario with an Honours Specialization in Pathology and Laboratory Science, equipping her with a strong foundation in scientific analysis and critical thinking. With over five years of tutoring experience, she has worked with university, high school, and elementary students across subjects including science, math, and French.

Passionate about education and mentorship, Zoya is committed to helping students build confidence in their abilities while fostering a deep understanding of key concepts. She takes an enthusiastic and organized approach to teaching, ensuring that lessons are engaging, interactive, and tailored to each student’s unique learning style.

Believing that patience and adaptability are essential to academic success, Zoya prioritizes creating a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and exploring new ideas.
