Justin M.

Justin Mejia is an OCT Qualified Intermediate senior (grades7-12) teacher with the qualifications and ability to teach English, Socials, History, Philosophy and French. He possesses an undergraduate degree in Philosophy and English from the University of British Columbia and a Bachelor of Education from York University.
Over the last several years, Mr. Mejia has worked full time teaching in class Secondary English, Socials, and French in British Columbia and in Ontario. He also has had experience working as a tutor and as a Youth worker. This experience, combined with his philosophical background, has given Mr. Mejia the ability to understand what is necessary in achieving student success. By creating an inclusive, engaging, and supportive learning environment, and by connecting students’ personal lives and experiences to the course content, Mr. Mejia believes that we not only enable students to achieve their intellectual, social, and physical potential, we also encourage them to develop into responsible, compassionate citizens that are prepared to meet the challenges of our ever changing world.

Emily E.

EN: Emily is in her final year at Concordia University. She will soon graduate with Honours in English Literature and a minor in Education. She has been recognized and awarded for her subject excellence in Mathematics, English reading and writing, on top of her overall perseverance as a well-rounded student. She has experience teaching children, adolescents and adults and takes pride in helping them reach their full academic potential. She is very passionate about learning and takes pleasure in connecting with and impacting her apprentices’ lives for the better. On top of academic success, Emily brings enjoyment, self-confidence, study tips and an overall pleasant learning environment personalized for each student to her sessions.

FR: Emily est en dernière année à l’Université Concordia. Elle va bientôt obtenir son diplôme avec mention en littérature anglaise et une mineure en éducation. Elle a été reconnue et récompensée pour son excellence en mathématiques, en lecture et écriture en anglais, ainsi que pour sa persévérance en tant qu’étudiante polyvalente. Elle a de l’expérience dans l’enseignement aux enfants, adolescents et adultes et se réjouit de les aider à atteindre leur plein potentiel académique. Elle est très passionnée par l’apprentissage et prend plaisir à établir des liens avec ses élèves et à améliorer leur vie. En plus de son succès académique, Emily apporte du plaisir, de la confiance en soi, des conseils d’étude et un environnement d’apprentissage agréable et personnalisé pour chaque étudiant lors de ses sessions.

Sacha F.

EN: Sacha has fully immersed himself in the study of English Literature since he graduated high school in 2017. He graduated with a DEC in Literature at Dawson College in 2019, received his BA Specialization in English Literature from Concordia University in Fall 2022, and is currently obtaining my MA in English Literature from Queen’s University. In the future, he hopes to become an educator and teach college-level English courses, where his passion will resonate through his classrooms and to his students.
Sacha is perfectly fluent in English and French. He is a well-rounded individual with interest and knowledge in various other subjects, such as French and Math. His experience in tutoring ranges from one-on-one personalized tutoring to being a mentor for larger groups of youths around Montreal. Sacha believes that anyone and everyone can succeed in whatever they put their mind up to. He hopes to show that to his students in the future.

FR: Sacha s’est entièrement plongé dans l’étude de la littérature anglaise depuis qu’il a terminé le secondaire en 2017. Il a obtenu un DEC en littérature au Dawson College en 2019, a reçu son baccalauréat en spécialisation en littérature anglaise de l’Université Concordia à l’automne 2022, et est actuellement en train de terminer sa maîtrise en littérature anglaise à l’Université Queen’s. Dans le futur, il espère devenir enseignant et donner des cours d’anglais au niveau collégial, où sa passion résonnera à travers ses salles de classe et auprès de ses étudiants.

Sacha est parfaitement bilingue en anglais et en français. Il est une personne polyvalente avec des intérêts et des connaissances dans divers autres sujets, tels que le français et les mathématiques. Son expérience en tutorat va de l’accompagnement personnalisé en tête-à-tête à être mentor pour des groupes plus importants de jeunes autour de Montréal. Sacha croit que chacun et chacune peut réussir dans ce qu’il ou elle entreprend. Il espère montrer cela à ses futurs étudiants.

Mia D.

EN: Mia has her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Educational Psychology from McGill University and has worked with kids for over three years. Her favourite part of teaching is seeing her student’s hard work pay off! It is great to see them understand the material and feel confident in their work.

FR:Mia détient un baccalauréat en sociologie avec une mineure en psychologie de l’éducation de l’Université McGill et travaille avec des enfants depuis plus de trois ans. Sa partie préférée de l’enseignement est de voir le travail acharné de son élève porter ses fruits ! C’est formidable de les voir comprendre la matière et se sentir confiants dans leur travail.

 

Kirsten B.

Kirsten graduated with a degree in Elementary education and has 5 years teaching experience. With her degree, she has had the opportunity to teach in Canada, Mexico and Thailand! She loves sports, reading and travelling. She is a qualified English and French elementary tutor and loves teaching students!

Kaitlyn G.

Kaitlyn attended high school level at the Study School, college level at Dawson in Pure & Applied Science (also took the Health Science courses, anatomy, organic Chemistry, etc. ), and university level at Concordia in Civil Engineering. While she has an affinity towards math, science, and physics, most subjects were enjoyed at some point! Kaitlyn can help generally with homework and understanding, but is also very helpful with test and exam preparation.

Justin D.

Justin Dupuis is an OCT Certified Teacher with 11 years of teaching experience who graduated from Brock University with both his Honours Bachelor of Arts in Integrated Studies as well as his Bachelor of Education. He holds teachable qualifications in Mathematics and Geography teaching students in both the public and private sector from the junior grades all the way up to senior high school students. In addition, he has his specialist certification in special education, providing him with a plethora of tools for students with varying educational needs. He teaching career has taken him around the globe to the Middle East, but he currently works here at home teaching Math and Geography at Dunbarton HS in Pickering. Justin’s passions in education revolve around finding engaging and interesting ways to teach material that helps students to see the value and purpose of what they’re learning.

ATHIYA A.

Athiya is a confident and self-motivated OCT certified instructor with the ability to communicate complicated subjects in a straightforward and innovative manner. She can also bring forth the potential and essential abilities required to respond positively and successfully to a diverse group of individuals while always exhibiting and keeping a professional attitude because she is “Special Education” qualified. Athiya’s ambition is to integrate her life experiences with the capacity to educate with compassion, empathy, and enthusiasm. She would like to be provided a platform where she can easily employ innovative and enjoyable methods to convey the curriculum to students in the social media era. Athiya is convinced that she will be able to do all of this since she has the drive, talents, and enthusiasm to be an excellent teacher. Athiya is an asset to your organization and will continue to excel in her profession with her qualifications and more than 15 years of teaching experience. Athiya’s personal work and professional experiences have demonstrated her superior organizational abilities. Athiya is a proactive, motivated team leader with excellent prioritization skills. Her ambition is to be an outstanding candidate in the area, and her growing leadership abilities have allowed her to broaden her devotion to assisting others.

Ari S.

Ari completed a Bachelor of Health Sciences with a minor in Philosophy and Religious Studies from Western University. She was the recipient of the Faculty Subject Award at Western University for achieving the highest grade in Religious Studies at Western University. Also, Ari completed an Honours Bachelors Degree in Arts from Thompson Rivers University graduating with High Distinction. Previously, she volunteered as a tutor for high school students in Science (Grade 9), Chemistry and Biology (Grade 10-12) at Mississauga Secondary School. During her undergrad, she tutored multiple students in University-level Writing and Psychology courses. Also, she assisted tutors at Mathnasium. In her spare time, Ari enjoys reading, cooking and hiking. Ari plans to start Teachers College this fall.
