Megan B.
Megan is an experienced science and technical professional with a strong background in environmental science, GIS, teaching, tutoring, and public communication. She holds both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Environmental Science, along with a Geographic Information Systems certificate and professional GISP credential. Her academic and professional work has required her to explain complex scientific and regulatory information clearly, review technical materials for accuracy, and communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences. She is also a published author.
Megan brings direct instructional experience from her time as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Stephen F. Austin State University, where she managed classes of up to 32 students, taught laboratory material, supported student learning, graded assignments, proctored exams, and helped maintain and improve instructional materials. She also worked as a GIS Program Tutor at Austin Community College, assisting students with GIS concepts and applications and stepping in during scheduled class periods when needed. She has also offered independent tutoring services in science, writing, test prep, and resume skills intermittently since 2010. She has experience working with students diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and considers this her specialty.
In her current and previous roles with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, Megan has built extensive experience in scientific review, data analysis, technical writing, quality assurance, training materials and exam review, and stakeholder education. This background makes her especially well suited to students who benefit from organized, detail-oriented instruction and real-world connections between classroom concepts and scientific applications.
When she isn’t serving in her day job role as an environmental professional, she volunteers with a non-profit hosting weekly zoom events educating and driving action on social justice issues in environment, education, and other intersectional social issues.

Zeinabou L.
Zeinabou is a Certified Math Teacher with 5 years of experience in high school education and 13 years of experience working with students in grades 1 through 12. After earning a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Texas A&M University in 2018, I developed a profound passion for numbers and their real-life applications. This passion drives her mission in education and to communicate the importance of understanding math as a key component of success in life.
In her teaching career, Zeinabou has fostered a supportive learning environment that encourages students to engage with math meaningfully. She believes that by building strong relationships with her students, she can better understand their needs and help them grow academically. Outside of the classroom, Zeinabou enjoys gardening, hiking, and spending quality time with her family, often sharing her love for math through creative, hands-on activities.
In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Zeinabou offers personalized one-on-one tutoring sessions, where she tailors lessons to meet the unique needs of each student. She is dedicated to helping her students build confidence in their math skills and is continually exploring new strategies to enhance their learning experiences. Zeinabou finds her work very rewarding and is passionate about inspiring the next generations.
Grace H.
Grace earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education with a Dual Language focus and a Master’s Degree as an Instructional Specialist with a STEM focus also from The University of Texas at El Paso (Go Miners!!!)
She is passionate about brain-based learning and helping students discover how they learn best. Her mission is to build confident lifelong learners by reducing anxiety, building trust, and teaching students to use their strengths to maximize learning and growth.
She taught elementary and middle school students, specializing in assessment, administration, and student performance analysis. Her belief in student centered instruction allowed her to customize instruction to address specific student learning needs for maximum growth. She is multilingual and experienced in supporting students while they learn both academic content and a new language simultaneously. Grace also has experience working with students on the autism spectrum and is known for her calm and reassuring demeanor. Additionally, she trained educators in targeted instruction, data monitoring, and assessment practices to support student achievement.
Outside of education, Grace enjoys all kinds of music, does her best to avoid mosquitos while gardening, and loves cooking for her family.
Todd M.
Todd is an experienced science educator, biological scientist, and outdoor educator with more than 15 years of experience helping students understand and appreciate the natural world. With expertise spanning biology, chemistry, environmental science, anatomy, and the earth sciences, Todd is passionate about showing students that science is much more than memorizing vocabulary and formulas—it is a way of understanding how the world around them works.
Todd earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Louisiana and pursued graduate study in Environmental Health Science at the University of Georgia. His scientific background extends well beyond the classroom and includes professional experience in ecological research, environmental science, wildlife biology, and federal environmental programs.
Before focusing primarily on education, Todd worked as a Physical Scientist with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), where his work involved environmental policy, air quality, offshore exploration, and federal environmental regulations. He also served as a research associate studying carbon sequestration in southeastern U.S. swamps and wetlands and worked as a biological science technician conducting field surveys of wildlife populations, endangered plant studies, and conservation programs.
Todd brings this extensive real-world scientific experience directly into his teaching. As a science instructor, he has taught Biology, Chemistry, and Environmental Science while developing curricula that incorporate hands-on experiments, interactive activities, and outdoor educational experiences. His greatest area of expertise is the biological sciences, and he especially enjoys helping students connect concepts from biology and ecology to things they can observe and investigate in everyday life.
His tutoring expertise includes Biology, AP Biology, Cell Biology, , Anatomy, Chemistry, AP Chemistry, Physics, Physical Science, Earth Science, Environmental Science, Geology, and Space Science, as well as middle school math. Todd also supports students preparing for 8th-grade Science STAAR, the ACT, and the TEAS exam, along with helping students develop stronger study habits and test-taking strategies.
One of Todd’s greatest strengths is his ability to make science tangible. Rather than relying solely on textbooks, he enjoys using experiments, demonstrations, outdoor exploration, and real-world examples to help students understand why scientific concepts work. His background as both a scientist and outdoor educator allows him to answer the question students so often ask: “When am I ever going to use this?”
Throughout his teaching career, Todd has worked with students representing a wide range of abilities, learning styles, and confidence levels. He believes students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, testing ideas, and discovering answers for themselves. His tutoring style is patient, encouraging, and highly interactive, with an emphasis on building genuine understanding rather than short-term memorization.
As both an educator and the father of three teenage boys, Todd also understands that no two students learn exactly the same way. Sometimes a student simply needs to hear a concept explained differently or see it demonstrated in a new context before everything begins to click. His goal is to identify that connection for each learner and use it to build greater confidence, curiosity, and independence.
Outside of education, Todd enjoys hiking, camping, geocaching, and exploring the natural world with his family. Ali S.
Ali is an accomplished medical student, neuroscience researcher, and educator who is passionate about helping students build confidence while mastering challenging academic subjects. She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Medicine degree at UT Health San Antonio’s Long School of Medicine with plans to specialize in neurology. Her medical education has reinforced her belief that the ability to teach complex ideas clearly is one of the most valuable skills an educator—or physician—can possess.
Ali graduated with honors from Michigan State University, earning bachelor’s degrees in Neuroscience, Genomics & Molecular Genetics, and Spanish, while also completing the university’s Honors College program. Before beginning medical school, she spent two years as a full-time research fellow at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) studying neurodegenerative diseases. Her research experience also includes work at Stanford University, Michigan State University, and UT Health San Antonio, where she continues to contribute to neuroscience and stroke research. She has co-authored numerous peer-reviewed scientific publications and has presented her research at national scientific conferences.
Throughout college, her research career, and medical school, Ali has consistently served as a mentor and educator for fellow students. Kaleb is a passionate science educator with a strong background in biology, healthcare, and hands-on scientific research. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of California, San Diego, where he developed a deep appreciation for both scientific discovery and helping others learn. Today, he combines his enthusiasm for STEM with a student-centered teaching approach that makes even challenging concepts approachable and engaging.
While attending UC San Diego, Kaleb gained valuable laboratory experience as an undergraduate research intern, working on genetics and molecular biology projects involving DNA extraction, PCR analysis, DNA electrophoresis, cloning, and mosquito genetics. He later worked in healthcare at Scripps Health, supporting clinical research and patient care by assisting with clinical trials and handling research specimens. These experiences allow him to bring real-world scientific applications into every tutoring session, helping students see how the concepts they learn in class connect to exciting careers in medicine, research, and biotechnology.
Kaleb is currently serving as a substitute teacher in Seguin ISD while preparing to begin his teaching internship, allowing him to work with students in a variety of classroom settings and continue developing his instructional skills. Throughout high school and college, he also coached theater and improvisation groups, experiences that strengthened his communication skills and taught him how to create engaging, interactive learning environments where students feel comfortable asking questions and thinking creatively.

Alina M.
Alina is originally from Germany, where she taught German, Geography, Art, and Biology to students in grades 4–10 for eleven years. During her university studies, she completed several internships in different schools and also worked on a pediatric oncology ward, supporting children and teenagers as they prepared to return to school.
Alina recently moved to Canada with her husband and their two dogs and now teaches in the Sea to Sky School District. She brings patience, empathy, and strong organizational skills to her teaching, while providing thoughtful, individualized support to each student. Alina believes that learning takes perseverance and encourages her students with her motto: “Everything is difficult before it becomes easy.”
In her free time, Alina enjoys exploring the beautiful nature around Squamish with her dogs, crocheting, reading, and occasionally baking and cooking traditional German dishes.
Tessa H.
Tessa H. is a lifelong learner who became a teacher so she could grow personally and professionally. She loves meeting new people and sharing her interests with students while they solve problems together.
Tessa has taught everything from swim lessons for young children to college-level Geology labs to reading and math to elementary students with learning disabilities.
As an undergraduate at the University of Binghamton in New York, Tessa discovered her passion for science and the environment, which led to two bachelor’s degrees: one in Geology and one in Environmental Studies.
After graduating, her first “real job” was teaching reading and math to children with autism and other learning disabilities. Tessa enjoyed seeing her students grow so much that she stayed in that job for more than 7 years.

Tessa recently moved from New York to Colorado to pursue a career in science. Tutoring gives her the opportunity to continue her love of teaching and her passion for giving back to the community.

Meghan P.
EN: Meghan has an MA in History and a BA (double major) in Classics and International Development from McGill University. She is in the final stages of completing her PhD in History and Classics at Yale University. Meghan has published a number of articles in academic publications and presented her research at conferences around the world. She speaks three languages fluently (English, French, and Romanian) and works in several others (Italian, German, Latin, and Ancient Greek).
Meghan is a passionate teacher who believes that every student is capable of excellence. Her approach is characterized by empathy, patience, and kindness. With over 15 years of experience in higher education, Meghan is sympathetic to the pressures modern students face: difficulties in focus, wavering confidence, and the temptation of unethical AI use among others. Meghan has had particular success in motivating students who were especially shy, withdrawn, or otherwise on the margins of the classroom. Strategies for how to bring such a student back into the fold differ on an individual basis but are always couched in mutual respect and understanding. Frequently, students who may have been struggling the most at the beginning of the term—be it with meeting deadlines, quality of work, or something else—became some of Meghan’s strongest and most self-motivated students by the end of the academic year.
