Joe G.

Joe is a certified teacher with five years of high school classroom teaching experience in English, Civics & Government, Economics, Math, and Spanish. He graduated from Mizzou and jumped right into teaching/tutoring while pursuing grad school. Joe now holds master’s degrees in education and economics. He is a lover of sports, primarily soccer and tennis, the outdoors, and traveling. He is also trilingual in English, Spanish, and Albanian, which has made visiting nearly 20 countries a whole lot easier! As a tutor, Joe is passionate about helping students reach their full potential. Having coached youth sports, taught a myriad of subjects, and individually tutored students in after-school programs, he is patient, understanding, and has a knack for explaining complex concepts in a way that students can understand. One of Joe’s favorite things about tutoring is getting to know his students and helping them develop their own unique learning styles. He believes that everyone learns differently, and he tailors his teaching methods to each individual student. Jacob is a husband and father of three. He has many years of teaching and tutoring experience. Currently, Jacob is a fourth year doctoral student at Teachers College, Columbia University. He is a lover of learning!

Ashleigh D.

Ashleigh graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor of Science in International studies with a minor in Mathematics. She has tutored students from all walks of life, including elementary students, college athletes, and middle school students in Norfolk, Virginia. She loves working one-on-one with students to help them with their academic goals. Ashleigh believes the key to success is perseverance, practice, and patience. She enjoys traveling and hanging out with her newly married husband in her spare time.

CAITLIN W.

Caitlin has a master’s degree in Special Education Grades 1-6, and is a certified Special Education Teacher currently teaching in the Bronx, NY. Caitlin has 5 years experience teaching high-need K-5 students in various settings. She has 3 years experience teaching in an ICT classroom and 2 years experience providing intensive small group and one-on-one academic support to at-risk students and students with IEPs. Caitlin has both Elementary Reading and Math teaching and tutoring experience and is trained in a variety of evidenced based, multi-sensory intervention programs. Caitlin has a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering and has over 10 years experience in tutoring middle and high school math and science courses. Caitlin is knowledgeable of higher level math and science curriculum and can explain it in a way that her students can comprehend. Caitlin has a passion for learning and for helping students succeed and believes that all students can learn if they are provided with instruction tailored to their needs. She uses personal and individualized instruction that best supports her students to build academic confidence and success.

 

STONE Y.

Stone is a former software engineer with a degree in Chemical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis. As a software engineer, he worked in the financial and cryptocurrency space at companies such as Vanguard and Morgan Stanley. He currently teaches Engineering and Robotics in high school.

Stone takes an individualized approach with every student he works with. He believe rapport and mutual respect are the foundations from which successful habits can be formed. Meta-skills in self-learning, problem solving, and critical thinking are extremely important to long term success and Stone works to develop these alongside any curriculum.

 

KRISTEN M.

Kristen graduated from Pace University in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. She has spent the last 8 years tutoring mathematics for middle and high school students, as well as all topics of the SAT and ACT. Her years of experience focus on teaching to the student, not the subject, and she believes that a one-size-fits-all approach does not work for every student. She likes to take a holistic and mindful approach when working with students. In her free time she enjoys reading, going to orange theory, and hanging out with her cat, Chewy.
