Marnie A.

Marnie holds a Master of Teaching degree from the University of Toronto and is a dedicated high school educator based in Vancouver. With five years of experience teaching at the secondary level, she is committed to fostering meaningful academic and personal growth in her students. Marnie strives to create inclusive, engaging, and supportive learning environments where all learners feel valued and capable of success. She is passionate about promoting student learning growth and is driven by the belief that every student deserves a positive and empowering educational experience.

Throughout her career, Marnie has focused on building strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues, recognizing collaboration as essential to student achievement. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys spending time in the outdoors and travelling to new places. Marnie brings enthusiasm and a student-centered approach to her work each day, aiming to inspire curiosity, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.

JOSEF S.

Josef Stetter is an Ontario educator and Assistant Curriculum Leader for Business and Co-op at Georges Vanier Secondary School, known for inclusive, real-world teaching that meets learners where they are. He holds a B.Ed. from Lakehead University and a B.A. in Economics from York University, along with wide-ranging Additional Qualifications that equip him to teach most subjects across Grades 1 through 12, including Math, Science, all Business strands, Social Sciences (world religions, philosophy, psychology), Humanities, Geography, History, English and ESL, Life and Learning Skills, Public Speaking and Debate, and French. He has taught and tutored broadly across these areas and continues to coach learners of all ages. In his current role, Josef expanded Business SHSM participation and led a large DECA cohort to regional and provincial success and had one student win the world Championship in her category beating out 25,000 students, while supervising diverse co-op placements that help students connect class to careers. Josef has lived in five countries and speaks English, French, Hebrew, and Spanish, and he makes learning lively by linking lessons to student interests such as video games, sports, photography, and travel.

Jack M.

Jack M. is a dedicated educator who currently teaches 7th grade for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. A graduate of Salem State University in Massachusetts, Jack brings a passion for learning and a commitment to helping students reach their fullest potential. His teaching philosophy centers on creating a supportive, engaging environment where students feel confident tackling challenges and developing lifelong skills. Outside the classroom, Jack’s caring nature shines through his lifelong love of rescuing dogs, and his competitive spirit comes from years spent playing sports—a balance of compassion and teamwork that he brings to his teaching every day.

Kyle H.

Kyle is a primary English educator and aspiring film professor with more than six years of teaching and tutoring experience across multiple classrooms, workshops, online platforms, and subjects. While he has been pursuing his masters degree in education at National Louis University, he has also been supporting grades 9–12 as a permanent substitute teacher at Hinsdale South High School. Kyle also has led screenwriting, creative writing, and public speaking sessions for Cardinal Filmworks, a student owned and ran film collective at Ball State University (his alma mater). Finally, after his undergrad, he also tutored poetry, Spanish, photography, and videography for learners of all ages with Varsity Tutors as one of their Creative Writing Experts. His style tends to center on building up confidence and problem solving skills through lessons that connect his students’ work to their interests. Creativity is a core tenet of his and because of that he loves to design personalized, engaging sessions that balance creative freedom with structured feedback so that each student grows as both thinker and creator. Because of this more creativity-focused approach, crafting relationships with my students is paramount to me. Learning about their lives and helping them succeed is just as important to me as their academics. Kyle is a lifelong reader, film buff, devoted sci‑fi and fantasy fan, bass guitar player, and avid Chicago & New York sports fan (Cubs/Sox Mets/Jets).

Abby G.

Abby has been working in education for nearly six years and is currently in her fifth year of classroom teaching. She has experience working with students across a wide range of grade levels, from Pre-K through 11th grade.

She currently serves as an AP English Language and English I teacher and previously taught middle school Social Studies for four years. Her diverse classroom experience allows her to adapt instruction to meet the needs of different ages and learning styles.

Abby is passionate about helping students experience those meaningful “a-ha” moments that move them to the next level in their learning. She values building strong, positive relationships with her students and believes that children learn best from educators they trust and enjoy working with.

She looks forward to supporting students through personalized, one-on-one instruction and partnering with families to help their children succeed.

JAMES S.

James S. found his passion for writing as the editor of his high-school newspaper. Under his direction, it fell prey to censorship battles and published only one issue. At university, he spent his time writing bad dystopian novels, and paid a heavy academic price for it. Returning to Toronto to pursue a career in screenwriting, he co-wrote ​Disappearance at Clifton Hill​ with director Albert Shin for Rhombus Media, starring Tuppence Middleton and David Cronenberg. After premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2019, it was picked up for North American distribution by IFC Midnight and reached #1 on US Netflix. Between his screenwriting and story editing duties, he still finds time to work on his next bad dystopian novel.

James H.

Upon graduating from college, James began teaching at the St. Ann’s School in Brooklyn, and has taught in the humanities for over 20 years. While he has taught middle schoolers and adults in a variety of settings, Mr. Hamilton has mostly worked in private secondary schools, offering classes in World History, U.S. History, and other subjects. He earned his B.A. at Harvard College in European History, and later, two Masters Degrees (Arts, Philosophy) in Medieval European History with a minor in Renaissance Humanism from Columbia University. In the course of his historical studies, Mr. Hamilton also studied Art History and European languages including German, French, Spanish, and Latin.
Mr. Hamilton remains an enthusiastic student and teacher of history, a challenging, beautiful, and constantly evolving discipline which embraces every aspect of human endeavor.
In his spare time, Mr. Hamilton cooks, reads novels, plays chess, and folds paper, with particular admiration for the beautiful origami models of Hideo Komatsu.

Kaitlan N.

Kaitlan is passionate about motivating students to believe in themselves and thrive academically. She holds a K–5 multiple subject credential as well as a single-subject English credential, and she earned her Master of Arts in Teaching from Point Loma Nazarene University.

Warm, encouraging, patient, and structured in her approach, Kaitlan brings a steady presence that helps students feel comfortable and confident. She has experience supporting students with attention and focus challenges.

Outside of tutoring, Kaitlan volunteers with the Girl Scouts, mentoring girls in leadership and creative projects. She also helps facilitate artist panels at the Chicano Park Cultural Center and Museum. Her community-minded focus, mentorship background, and interest in the arts help her connect quickly with students and make her an especially strong fit for creative, relationship-driven learners.

Jennifer W.

Jennifer W. brings three decades of experience as a civics cheerleader and a history hype woman. She is committed to building students’ critical reading and writing skills by exciting their interest in history and government. She has taught at the high school and college level, including honors, dual enrollment, and Advanced Placement classes. She also loves encouraging students to express their own stories in the college essay process, and to discover their own strategies for academic organization.

Jennifer holds an undergraduate degree in American Civilization from Brown University, and advanced degrees in education and American history from New Jersey City University and Pace University. In her spare time, she is usually reading, visiting museums, or (poorly) singing show tunes.

Elias A.

Elias Allen graduated from the University of Oxford in 2017 with a BA in Politics, Philosophy and Economics. He worked as an SAT prep teacher and tutor for AP US History, AP World History, and AP Literature in DC and Maryland from 2018 to 2019. Elias served as a Peace Corps TEFL Volunteer in Kosovo from 2019-2020 and from 2022-2023, teaching English to K-12 students. In 2020 and 2021 he worked as a tutor in Oregon for elementary and middle school students, tutoring English, reading comprehension, writing, math, and coding. In 2021 Elias taught English and critical thinking skills to students in Kosovo virtually in the Peace Corps Virtual Service Pilot Program. He graduated from Columbia University with an MA in 2025. In his free time Elias enjoys playing basketball, ping pong, and tennis.
