STEPHANIE F.

Stephanie brings a wealth of expertise and dedication to her role as an educator, with extensive experience working one-on-one with children who face a wide range of learning challenges. Her background includes specialized training in remedial reading programs such as The Wilson Program, Direct Instruction, and UFLI, equipping her with proven strategies to support students in developing essential literacy skills.

Stephanie holds a Bachelor of Arts in History with a minor in English from Simon Fraser University and is a qualified EAL (English as an Additional Language) instructor. Her teaching focus spans middle and high school students in Humanities and English composition, as well as Primary and Junior students in literacy and remedial reading support.

In addition to her work locally, Stephanie has also supported numerous students internationally, helping them acquire and refine their English language skills. Her ability to tailor instruction to the unique needs of each learner ensures that every student feels supported and empowered in their academic journey. Stephanie’s passion for education and her dedication to fostering growth make her an invaluable resource for her students and their families.

Hillary F-T

Hillary is a graduate from the Bachelor of Education program at the University of Ontario Institute and Technology (UOIT). Additionally, she completed her undergraduate degree with a double major and joint minor from Trent University.

Certified since 2016, Hillary has worked both locally in Durham and overseas in pursuit of her passion for Education.

As a permanent Teacher within the Durham Catholic District School Board, she is qualified to teach a variety of subjects including: English, History, Religion, Indigenous Studies and Special Education.

Through tutoring, Hillary strives not only to motivate and encourage her pupils to do their best, but to also build upon their resiliency and confidence skills overall.

Learning is a lifelong process that can be fulfilling as well as fun!

An avid traveller in her downtime, Hillary loves to immerse herself in new cultures and experiences.

Jacob C.

Jacob is a husband and father of three. He has many years of teaching and tutoring experience. Currently, Jacob is a fourth year doctoral student at Teachers College, Columbia University. He is a lover of learning!

Tania T.

Tania has Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in both English and Adult Education. She has twelve years of experience working with a range of learners from elementary school students to adults. She specializes in English, ESL, history, geography, and social sciences. She has worked in both private and nonprofit learning organizations.

Emma A.

Emma is a passionate and devoted Pure and Applied Sciences student at Marianopolis College. She attended The Study from kindergarten to Grade 11, where she took multiple AP curriculum classes and graduated with honours. She has been a tutor for over two years, working with students of all levels, from elementary school to CEGEP.

Alain Z.

Alain Zaramian holds a B.A. (Classical Languages, Religious Studies) from the University of Toronto and an M.A. and Ph.D. (Classical Languages) from the University of Texas at Austin, where he also taught Latin and ancient Greek languages and literature. In 2018, he was awarded the Classics Department’s annual award for teaching. He additionally has many years of tutoring experience, working with high school and university students in a broad range of subjects across the humanities and social sciences. He is currently working on his first book, a study of ancient Greek and Roman religious poetry.

In his spare time, Alain loves to read, watch movies, and cheer for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

MATTHEW G.

Matthew graduated from the University of Alberta’s Campus St Jean with a major in Social Studies and a minor in French Language Arts. He has taught French Immersion in Edmonton and Calgary for over 5 years, and has served as a tutor for over 10 years.

Today, Matthew is a law student at the University of Calgary. He remains highly passionate in working with students and helping them achieve their goals!

Matthew O.

Matthew O’Reilly is an educator specializing in the arts and the humanities. He has his Honors Bachelors of Art, Bachelors of Education, and Masters of Education from Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario. He also holds a Masters of Fine Arts from the Alberta University of the Arts in Calgary. Matthew enjoys working with all age groups, having worked as a camp counselor, K-12 educator, and in post-secondary. In addition to being an educator, Matthew is an award winning emerging international artist, having been the recent recipient of the Canadian Clay and Glass Galleries Winifred Shantz Award. Matthew meets students where they are at and tailors his teaching approach to what each student needs. Gamifying, setting goals and tracking progress is Matthew’s favorite way to motivate students. Matthew helps students visualize difficult and abstract concepts by utilizing his strong background in the arts.

OLIVIA M.

In 2019, Olivia graduated from Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and History. In 2021, she completed her Bachelor of Education degree from Queen’s University with Intermediate/Senior qualifications, as well as a concentration in Exceptional Learners. She is looking forward to be working as an Occasional Teacher for the Toronto Catholic District School Board, come September.

She has considerable experience working with ELL students, and intends on taking Additional Qualification courses in Teaching English Language Learners, as well as Special Education and Primary/Junior courses in the near future. She has taught for both the Catholic and Public School Boards across the GTA, as well as virtual school settings. Her goal as an educator is to lead with compassion, tailoring instructional strategies to suit the individual needs and learning styles of her students. Olivia genuinely loves to learn, and hopes her enthusiasm will inspire her students to succeed. She values the unique perspective that every student brings to the lesson, and strives to create a positive rapport with every session. When Olivia is not teaching, you can find her playing the piano, finding her zen doing yoga, or spending quality time with family & friends!

NAOMI F.

Dr. Naomi Finkelstein received her B.A. in Classical Studies from Barnard College in 1990, her M.A. 1995, M.Phil. 1997, and Ph.D, 2010 from Columbia University in Classical Studies, (Greek, Latin, Ancient History, Art History and Gender studies). In 2006, she received permanent New York State certification in Latin 7-12.

Dr. Finkelstein has taught and tutored students in graduate school and college at Columbia University, Union Theological Seminary, and in high school and middle school at Fieldston and the City School District of New Rochelle.  Throughout her 29-year career, Dr. Finkelstein has helped hundreds of students improve their comprehension, confidence, and performance in Latin and ELA, including AP Latin, the National Latin Exam, ELA essays, and personal statements for both the common and coalition apps.  She has also assisted students in preparing for the English sections of the SAT and ACT.

Not everyone knows this but Dr. Finkelstein is also a yoga teacher. She has continued to build skills to better serve students, with training in yoga, social-emotional learning, and mindfulness. She has a 200-hour Yoga Alliance teaching certification and a 25-hour Yin yoga training as well as a Wellness Champion certificate from Breathe for Change.

When Dr. Finkelstein is not teaching, she’s traveling around the world, because travel is the best form of education! Some of her favorite travel experiences have been trips to Athens, Crete, Rome, and Istanbul because of their amazing antiquities.  There is nothing like coming face to face with a 2000-year-old Greek Bronze, or architectural remains like the Parthenon, the lion gate at Mycenae, and the Colosseum!
