Erica provides structured, engaging tutoring tailored to each child’s learning profile, helping students build both competence and confidence.

Marielle B.

EN: Marielle has strong academic knowledge in English, French, and humanities-based subjects. She is a Communications student at the Université de Montréal, where she is completing her Bachelor’s degree and developing skills in writing, analysis, and communication.

Olwyn (Ollie) S.

Olwyn (Ollie) is in her last year of her Bachelors degree in Sociology (Honours) at Concordia. Alongside her studies, for the past three years, she has worked as a tutor, primarily for elementary-aged students. She uses a patient and empathetic approach which encourages a love for learning. Ollie believes a positive relationship with her students is key for their success in tutoring.

Ollie has prior experience in private tutoring and tutoring in schools. Through previous positions, she has developed a specialization in tutoring English and is now UFLI-trained. She has since used the UFLI program and its components to work with a variety of students, including neurodivergent students. Over the years, she has learned how successful a consistent approach, such as through UFLI, can be. In addition to English tutoring, Ollie also has experience tutoring math and with homework help, as well as other subjects, through her diverse prior positions.

Having previously tutored in schools, Ollie’s background as a tutor is highly collaborative. She is a strong believer in communication with parents and teachers and always appreciates feedback. This ensures a consistent approach which is sensitive to the needs of the student. Alongside communication, Ollie is careful to document her work and to stay organized, this is to track progress and ensure that sessions include a range of activities within the chosen approach.

Meghan P.

Meghan has an MA in History and a BA (double major) in Classics and International Development from McGill University. She is in the final stages of completing her PhD in History and Classics at Yale University. Meghan has published a number of articles in academic publications and presented her research at conferences around the world. She speaks three languages fluently (English, French, and Romanian) and works in several others (Italian, German, Latin, and Ancient Greek).

Meghan is a passionate teacher who believes that every student is capable of excellence. Her approach is characterized by empathy, patience, and kindness. With over 15 years of experience in higher education, Meghan is sympathetic to the pressures modern students face: difficulties in focus, wavering confidence, and the temptation of unethical AI use among others. Meghan has had particular success in motivating students who were especially shy, withdrawn, or otherwise on the margins of the classroom. Strategies for how to bring such a student back into the fold differ on an individual basis but are always couched in mutual respect and understanding. Frequently, students who may have been struggling the most at the beginning of the term—be it with meeting deadlines, quality of work, or something else—became some of Meghan’s strongest and most self-motivated students by the end of the academic year.

Nahid N.

Eng: Nahid began her tutoring journey as a volunteer with Canadian Parents for French, where she designed and delivered engaging lessons for English-speaking students enrolled in French immersion programs. She later expanded her experience with the Learning Disabilities Association of Ottawa, supporting students with ADHD, dyslexia, autism, and other learning differences since 2021. Through this role, she has developed strong skills in adapting instruction to individual learning needs while providing personalized academic support. She has also demonstrated leadership as a tutor supervisor at Tutor Doctor, where she trained new tutors and worked closely with parents to support student success. Fluent in both French and English, Nahid is committed to fostering confidence, curiosity, and academic excellence in every learner.

Shabibah M.

EN: Shabibah is a student studying Sciences at the University of Toronto. She graduated from Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf in Health Science. She is fluent in both English and French and is comfortable teaching in either language. Shabibah has experience tutoring students at the elementary and early high school levels. She is patient, organized, and able to adapt her teaching methods to different learning styles. She enjoys helping students strengthen their academic skills and gain confidence in their learning.

ENG: Lea Abdo is a student at McGill University, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical, Biological and Life Sciences, majoring in Anatomy and Cell Biology. She is recognized for her academic achievements, graduating from Saint Joseph High School in Saskatoon, on Principal’s Honor Roll with distinction, and a Bilingual Diploma. Lea also achieved first place provincially in the Concours d’art oratoire (Advanced French category) for both grades 11 and 12.
In addition to her academic success, Lea brings extensive experience working with children through babysitting and volunteer roles at community organizations, churches, and multicultural events such as Folkfest Saskatoon.
Lea is also active in student leadership, serving as Vice President of Sponsorship & Fundraising for McGill Hemoglobal, and a Student Ambassador for the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology.

ENG: Laure is currently completing her Bachelor Degree in Kindergarten and Elementary Education with a French immersion minor. She graduated from Cégep du Vieux Montréal with a degree in Social Studies, during which she had the opportunity to participate in a field experience in an Indigenous community in Mexico. She has worked at a summer camp for the past four years, where she has met various groups of kids from different backgrounds. She has a strong passion for culture, particularly in finding ways to integrate it into language teaching.
