MAHMOUD B.
Mahmoud is a Science and Humanities educator based in the GTA, dedicated to helping students build the learning strategies and confidence needed for academic and personal success. Mahmoud studied at the University of Toronto, completing a Bachelors Degree in Neuroscience and Mental Health and a Masters degree in Biology and Psychology. During this time, Mahmoud’s love for learning transformed to a passion for teaching, so he served as an educator at the University of Toronto for 6 years, shifting his focus over the last 3 years to support K-12 students in Math, Science and Humanities. Throughout these experiences, he’s taught writing, oral presentation, critical thinking and scientific analysis to hundreds of students, and mentored dozens towards successful university and graduate school applications. Mahmoud prioritizes mindful communication with his students to understand their needs and bring awareness to their strengths, so they can build organic confidence in their improving skills, in a way that transfers to overall personal development. His love for teaching is complemented by active engagement in arts, culture and athletics, including music, poetry, dance, cooking and martial arts.
Jennifer O.
Jennifer O. has over two years of experience as an Assistant Professor, teaching remotely in Calgary, Alberta, and more than twenty years of experience as an Educational Assistant in London, Ontario. She holds a Master of Education in Educational Leadership, where she published her capstone paper on inclusive education, and an undergraduate degree in Sociology.
Jennifer takes a friendly and down-to-earth approach to teaching. She loves helping students build confidence in their ideas, think critically about the world around them, and make real-life connections between learning and social issues. With a background in social justice and the social sciences, she enjoys supporting students in sociology, psychology, and related fields.
She is currently working on an educational book that combines personal stories with lessons from her work in education. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, being outdoors with her dog, cooking, and relaxing with a good show.
Caitlin C.
Caitlin is a certified teacher. She graduated from Brock University with a Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Arts, with a major in English and a minor in both history and French. Caitlin completed her teaching placements in the Niagara Region, where she taught grade 10 English, grade 11 media studies, and grade 12 English. Caitlin has also done an internship with the Learning Disabilities Association of Niagara Region. During her internship, she personalized bi-weekly lesson plans for a grade three student that would best support the student’s learning by incorporating the student’s interests and needs. In her free time, Caitlin likes to read, collect and organize Pokémon cards, and play cozy video games.
Caitlin believes that student-led learning leads to confident, capable, and inspired students. She also believes that students learn best when they are able to make choices and play an active role in their education. Caitlin is passionate about teaching her students and helping them succeed; she enjoys showing students that learning can be fun.
Frank C.
Frank Cameron is an experienced university and college instructor. He is from London, ON and graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a B.A. in Philosophy. He then went on to complete an M.A. in Philosophy at the University of Alberta before moving on to the nation’s capital where he earned a Ph.D in Philosophy. Throughout his academic career spanning two decades, Frank has taught at several post-secondary institutions including Bishop’s University, Dalhousie University, the University of Guelph, University of Michigan, Wilfrid Laurier University, University of Waterloo, Huron University College, Brescia University College, Fanshawe College, and Conestoga College.
His easy-going nature and commitment to his students’ academic success explains the instant rapport that he has with students.
Frank’s teaching experience focuses on the Humanities (Philosophy, Great Books, Literature) and Social Sciences (Sociology, Canadian Politics).
In his spare time, Frank likes traveling (especially to Europe), listening to classic rock, reading, writing, spending time with his two adorable Boston terriers (Argos and Odie), and cheering on his hometown, London Knights.
Monica V.
Monica is a recent graduate of Wilfrid Laurier University, where she earned an Honours BA in English and History with high distinction and a consistent place on the Dean’s Honour Roll. With two years of experience in museum education, Monica successfully developed engaging, inclusive, hands-on learning experiences that cater to diverse audiences. Monica is now continuing her education journey through Western University’s Teacher Education program, specializing in the Intermediate/Senior division. Monica has experience tutoring writing, reading, editing, and developing study skills in students from elementary to university levels.
Her teaching philosophy is rooted in a student-centred approach that nurtures curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking. She is passionate about empowering students to become confident learners who not only achieve academic success but also develop a love for the learning process. One of her favourite parts about teaching is the “ah-ha” moment. Beyond her commitment to education, she enjoys a variety of pursuits, including reading, writing, visiting museums, wandering through forests, antiquing, and singing in choir.
Gray B.
Gray B. is a recent graduate of the University of Western Ontario, where she completed her Master’s of Arts in English and her Bachelor of Arts in English, Creative Writing, and Arts and Humanities. She made the Dean’s Honour List in each year of her undergraduate studies and received the University of Western Ontario Gold Medal for the highest grade in the Honours Specialization in Creative Writing and English Language and Literature in 2024. As an MA student, Gray TAed and led tutorials for both English 1027F: The Storyteller’s Art I: Introduction to Narrative and English 1028G: The Storyteller’s Art II: Introduction to Narrative: Comedy.
As a former Student Writer-in-Residence at Western and a current communications professional, Gray’s strength lies in her writing and editing skills. She is skilled at helping students develop both academic and creative works in fields such as English, Theatre, Film, Theory and Criticism, Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies, and Creative Writing. A passionate teacher, Gray is always finding new ways to tailor her approaches to each student to ensure the highest level of comprehension and achievement.
Armia F.
Armia is a graduate of the University of Toronto’s Teacher’s College with qualifications in the Intermediate and Senior Divisions, specializing in Social Sciences and Biology. He also holds additional qualifications in Teaching English Language Learners, Mathematics (Intermediate), and Junior Division teaching.
Currently in his second year with the Toronto District School Board and with over four years of tutoring experience, he supports students by first identifying their strengths and uses them to fill learning gaps and build confidence. He has worked with a wide range of learners, including those with developmental learning disabilities, ADHD, autism, and other learning challenges.
He provides practice worksheets and organized study notes that students can use when studying for quizzes and tests and completing homework. To keep students engaged, he incorporates game-based learning to consolidate understanding. He values patience and adaptability especially when working with students who may struggle with attention or focus.
Armia takes a student-centred approach, aiming to foster independence and long-term academic success. Whether your child needs academic support or enrichment, Armia is committed to helping each student reach their full potential through personalized, thoughtful instruction.
Outside of teaching, he maintains a healthy work-life balance through swimming, exercising, playing ping-pong, watching shows and movies and spending quality time with family.
Amanda B.
Amanda has completed a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Literature at York University and is now beginning the Concurrent Education program to pursue her Bachelor of Education degree. She is specializing in English and Social Sciences, with a focus on working with middle and secondary school students.
Amanda understands that every child learns differently and believes tutoring should be supportive, motivating, and tailored to the individual. She takes the time to understand each student’s unique learning style, strengths, and challenges, and creates customized lessons to meet their needs. Parents can feel confident knowing Amanda combines her academic background with patience and creativity to help students build confidence, develop strong study skills, and achieve lasting success.
She is comfortable teaching all elementary and middle school subjects, and at the high school level she specializes in English, Social Sciences, and Math up to Grade 10. Her teaching style blends structure with flexibility – she uses interactive tools such as Canva, Kahoot, and Notion to make sessions engaging and enjoyable while encouraging critical thinking and independent learning.
Amanda is committed to ensuring her students not only improve their grades but also gain confidence and curiosity in their learning. A fun fact about her is that she is a classically trained ballroom dancer with 12 years of experience, and she also adores baking and cooking, often bringing creativity into her teaching.
Elizabeth B.
Elizabeth B. has been in education for 35 years. She worked in Student Services and teaching English in the GTA including Chaminade College School, Crescent School and St. Michael’s College School. In her career as a senior English teacher, she has three decades of experience in the writing of university applications and supplemental essays. She has worked in male-centric schools for most of her career and has an extensive background in the studies and research of how boys learn. In addition to academic support, Elizabeth works with students on executive functioning, organization, time management and study skills to allow for personal and academic success in the increasingly busy world of students with co-curricular and obligations outside of school.
Elizabeth’s youngest son is in Grade 12. Her other 4 children have completed both college and university programs up to and including the PhD level. She believes in the nurturing of the whole person and works with students to highlight and develop the skills and attributes that make them unique while enhancing their independent learning.
Elizabeth completed her undergraduate degree at Queen’s University, teaching at Concordia University in Montreal and a Diploma in Creative Writing at Humber College. Along the way she has also completed 17 additional qualifications in Education, including Special Education, Reading Specialist and Guidance and Career Specialist designations as well as courses in Narrative Therapy and Bibliotherapy.
Sela C.
Sela is currently in her final year of her Honours Business Administration degree at Richard Ivey School of Business and Huron University. She is going into her Masters in International Business with Ivey in January 2026. She has taught English and North American cultural studies to Cornell University Graduate International Students with MeeOpp tutoring company, and has travelled to India with Ivey Business School’s LEADER Project to teach a two-week business course to undergraduate students and corporate representatives, including strategy, finance, marketing, operations, and other business fundamentals. She specialises in business, especially preparing for Richard Ivey School of Business courses, BUS1220 and BUS2257, having helped with grading for these courses. Sela grew up in Hong Kong and did IB in high school, and has experience in Mandarin, English, Math and History. Outside of teaching, Sela is the Head Don Resident Advisor at Huron University, and is running her second marathon in October to raise awareness and funds for Epilepsy Southwestern Ontario.
