Lynda E.

Lynda is a Math and Physics teacher with 20 years of experience spanning classroom teaching, private tutoring, and Gifted and Talented programs. She has a Master’s in Physics with a concentration in Education from University of Virginia, certificate in Leaders of Learning from Harvard University, and holds teaching certificates in Math, Physics, Elementary Education, Students with Disabilities, and Middle School Science.

Lynda specializes in demystifying challenging math and physics concepts by (1) explaining concepts as clearly as possible, (2) performing examples in order to model the problem-solving process, and (3) providing several practice problems to work up to mastery. While she is a professional, Lynda enjoys conversing in a casual tone (think more Penny, less Sheldon), as math and science are often culprits for producing anxiety in students. Whether you are aiming for that 800 on the Math SAT, or simply trying to make it through your physics course unscathed, please think of Lynda as someone who can help you attain your goal!

 

Clent I.

Clent is a dedicated educator with twenty-six years of teaching experience. Hailing from Jackson, Mississippi, he earned his BS in Biology from Jackson State University, where he was a member of the famed, “Sonic Boom of the South,” which performed at the 2024 Super Bowl Halftime. He is also a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. He furthered his education at Southern Illinois University (Carbondale), pursuing a Master’s in Physiology. As a third- generation educator, Clent is deeply committed to the belief that every student has the potential to learn, emphasizing the importance of meeting students at their current level and guiding them towards their academic goals. Over the course of his career, he has taught both elementary and middle school with the latter half of his teaching career; teaching middle school mathematics. He strives to create a nurturing environment where the academic expectations and outcomes are clear; together he and his students systematically work to achieve these outcomes. Clent is an avid traveler, a voracious reader, and adores concerts and other live music venues.

Meg H.

Meg Hardick is a certified middle grades science teacher. She holds a BS in Environmental Science, and a Masters in Elementary Education. She specializes in all areas of science, as well as elementary education, middle school French, and standardized test prep. She greatly enjoys helping students build the emotional and executive functioning skills necessary to excel in all subject areas. As a lover of literature and writing, she is especially excited to help students engage with the written word and expand their creative and expressive abilities. She has had great success supporting students through the stress and pressure of standardized testing season, taking a wholistic approach to test preparation and demystifying test structures.

When not supporting students, she enjoys spending time with her son, Hazel, wandering the Bella Vista streets, and hiking in the Poconos. She is a recent transplant from Austin, Texas, and is very appreciative of her new community.

Kristina N.

Kristina has taught Science and AP Psychology at Brunswick School in CT for ten years. She is excited to start a new chapter at Bishop’s School as a Biology Teacher! She has a Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience from Claremont McKenna College, a Master’s of Art in Teaching from Manhattanville College, and a Master’s of Science in Biology from NYU.

Biology and Chemistry can be some of the most challenging classes in high school, and she enjoys breaking the material down into smaller, digestible parts. Incorporating the latest research in Cognitive Science, she likes to focus on the context, or big picture, and then tackles the nuances of the material. She utilizes videos, diagrams, drawings, and lots of practice problems to instruct all types of learners.

In her free time, she loves taking her 75lb golden retriever, Zeus, for walks!

Marilyn I.

Marilyn is a Texas certified secondary education/ biology/ chemistry/composite science teacher since 1992. She has taught many different sciences and medical courses to diverse students in high school and college. She has a Ed.D. in Educational Leadership, a M.A. in Molecular Biology, and a B.S. in Honors Zoology. Her passion is teaching the wonder and literacy of science to students and helping them to reach their educational potential. Marilyn is also a dog lover and owner, a nature lover and hiker, an avid reader of health/environment-related articles and books, as well as an online scrabble and sudoku enthusiast. She enjoys spending time with friends and family.

 

Lauren H.

Lauren is a native New Yorker who spent her life steeped in all the art and culture the city has to offer. She is a born educator, lifelong learner, and giant nerd who is obsessed with music, literature, history, technology, and social justice. Lauren spent her formative years dedicated to writing and visual and performing arts, and still had time to get a perfect score on the SAT. She also worked as the Vocal Director and Science Lab Instructor at a camp for gifted and talented children. While studying studio production and composition at the Conservatory of Music at SUNY Purchase she began tutoring students to prepare them for various standardized tests and subjects. Rather than attend law school, Lauren became a full-time tutor, and has been one for over 15 years. Lauren truly loves what she does, and aims for every student to become confident, intellectually curious, and passionate about learning. She believes education is holistic, enthusiasm infectious, and this is what keeps students engaged and excited to pursue their goals as they become better critical thinkers, readers, and problem solvers who are always pushing the boundaries of what is possible. In addition to tutoring and advising, she also teaches a robotics class in which elementary school children build and program their own Lego robots. Lauren’s passions include eating her way across every continent, collecting records, and curling. She has been playing the game, known as chess on ice, for 6 years, is a certified USA Curling instructor, and is also Co-Director of Education at Brooklyn Lakeside Curling Club.

Cristina R.

Cristina is a certified teacher who loves to cook, travel, read, visit museums, and spend time exploring nature with her golden retriever, Oliver. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies and certificate in Public Policy from Hunter College. Later, she completed her Master of Arts in Teaching from Richard Gilder Graduate School at the American Museum of Natural History, where she had the privilege of taking courses from renowned scientists and pedagogical experts. She currently works at Central Park East High School where she teaches both Earth Science and AP Environmental Science. Cristina is passionate about educating the whole student; understanding that it’s essential and imperative to truly know students as people. Thus, allowing her to hone their strengths while addressing their weaknesses. Cristina focuses on relating academic content to students’ personal lives and daily experiences to foster a deeper understanding and connection to what they are learning. In addition to being a science teacher, Cristina is also a certified yoga instructor.

Sylvia D.

Sylvia D. is a dedicated individual with a passion for tutoring students of all ages and abilities, aiming to help them reach their maximum psychosocial and academic potential. While serving as a full-time certified teacher in Chicago, Illinois, Sylvia taught all levels of mathematics. Leveraging her clinical background in Psychology, she implemented strategies to enhance self-esteem and foster confidence among her students.

As a trained behavioral specialist, Sylvia has valuable experience working with students with special needs. Beyond her commitment to education, she is also an avid animal lover, using her knowledge to care for them. Sylvia looks forward to the opportunity to serve and make a positive impact on the academic and emotional growth of those she works with.

Kathleen B.

Kathleen is an enthusiastic online tutor specializing in middle and high school education. She brings a wealth of experience to the table. From 2015 to June 2023, she served as an educator in schools, imparting knowledge across various subjects. Additionally, Kathleen dedicated her afternoons from 2019 to 2022 to tutoring elementary and middle school students, fostering a love for learning.

Armed with a Business BA Degree, Masters coursework in Public Health, and other professional certifications, Kathleen merges her academic background with a passion for a healthy lifestyle. Beyond the books, She finds joy in exercise/physical activities, advocating for wellbeing. Her interests extend to fashion, sipping on nutritious smoothies, and basking in the beach’s serenity.

Family holds a special place to her heart, and she cherishes spending quality time with her children. Beyond personal pursuits, She is known to actively engage in community initiatives, contributing to diverse facets that empower others to thrive and achieve their life goals. Her purpose in tutoring is rooted in creating a conducive learning environment, be it in small groups or individual settings. Beyond education, she finds solace in reading and expresses her creativity through dance.

Adam is an experienced science teacher with over 15 years experience in the classroom as a teacher and another 6 years as a school administrator mainly focusing on Living Environment, Biology, and Environmental Science. Adam has a good grasp on standards for science based on his school wide work with students who have special needs. He therefore can be very specific in his approach to give students exactly what they need in order to be successful.
