Joan F.

Joan F. is a third-grade teacher in the School District of Philadelphia, recognized for her lifelong dedication to education. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from Temple University and obtained her Pennsylvania Level 1 teaching certification in 2023. Joan has taught kindergarten, third, and fourth grades, demonstrating enthusiasm and attentiveness in each classroom. In addition to her time teaching in Philadelphia, Joan taught third and fourth grades in the Bahamas for four years. This international experience broadened her perspective and enhanced her ability to support students from diverse backgrounds. Joan also has five years of experience as a nanny for children from infancy to age seven, which enhanced her understanding of early childhood development and her capacity to engage young learners.

With over 15 years of experience in diverse educational settings, Joan is dedicated to fostering both the academic and personal growth of her students. Her ongoing commitment to education consistently yields positive outcomes for her students.

Travis McG.

Travis McGinnis has a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Regis University, with endorsements in both Gifted and Talented Education and Social Studies. With 15 years of classroom experience in the Adams 12 and Jeffco School Districts, Travis is an expert at guiding students through Reading, Writing, and Math using goal-setting and arts-integrated methods.

In 2017, Travis was awarded the Talented Teacher Award by the Jeffco School District, and recognized for “100% student achievement,” as all his students met or exceeded their goals in Reading, Writing, and Math. In 2016, he also contributed to Devinney Elementary School winning the National Blue Ribbon Award.

Outside the classroom, Travis enjoys playing soccer, boardgames, baking sourdough bread, and writing fantasy and science fiction novels. When he’s not writing, gaming, or baking masterpieces in the kitchen, he enjoys quality time with his wife, four children, and their mini-goldendoodle puppy.

Travis’s experience as an educator, his enthusiasm for learning, and zest for life make him an ideal “smart friend” for elementary and middle-school students who could use a little inspiration to overcome challenges and master the learning process.

McCall D.

McCall D. is exceptional at helping students grasp concepts and gain confidence in Middle-School Math, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, and English Composition.

McCall enjoys helping students learn how to bridge the gap between big-picture mathematical concepts and solving specific problems using those concepts.

Her goal is to help students gain confidence, improve their understanding, and realize, “Hey, wait a minute. I’m actually good at math!”

As a graduating honor-roll senior at Silver Creek High School in Longmont, McCall will be attending Colorado State University in the fall, where she plans to major in Biomedical Engineering and Biochemistry.

In her spare time, McCall works with a local equine veterinarian and spends time with her friends, family, and her three dogs: Anzu, Zeke, and ZuZu.

Beverlyn J.

Beverlyne J. is a mathematics and chemistry educator from Kenya.

As a child, Beverlyne had a strong interest in problem-solving and science, which led her to study higher math and chemistry and pursue a career in teaching and research.

She received her B.Ed. in Mathematics and Chemistry and her MS in Applied Mathematics from the University of Nairobi, in Kenya. She did her postgraduate studies at Uppsala University in Sweden.

She has taught math and chemistry at several different levels: lecturing at the University of Nairobi, serving as the head of the Mathematics Department at the Jaffery Academy (Nairobi), and working as a lecturer/tutor for private clients.

Outside the classroom, she enjoys playing badminton, conducting research in mathematical modeling, and mentoring young scholars in STEM.

Her goal is to make mathematics meaningful and accessible, and help students build the confidence and critical-thinking skills that apply outside the classroom.

Shabibah M.

EN: Shabibah is a student studying Sciences at the University of Toronto. She graduated from Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf in Health Science. She is fluent in both English and French and is comfortable teaching in either language. Shabibah has experience tutoring students at the elementary and early high school levels. She is patient, organized, and able to adapt her teaching methods to different learning styles. She enjoys helping students strengthen their academic skills and gain confidence in their learning.

Alexander O.

EN: Born and raised in Montreal, Alexander has firsthand experience with the Quebec curriculum. Fluent in English and French, he is most in his element tutoring high school and CEGEP students in math, physics, and music theory. Since 2018, Alexander has accrued teaching experience through peer tutoring, leading workshops in elementary and high schools, and providing online tutoring with elementary to college-aged students. Studying both classical music and pure and applied sciences at Vanier College (graduating on the dean’s honour list), he has mentored students in both disciplines. Alexander continued his studies at McGill University, where he was awarded many scholarships for academic excellence. While obtaining a bachelor’s degree in music performance, he also completed several courses in physics and minored in the German language. Though he spent much of his life pursuing music, Alexander’s first love was in math and sciences, and being related to several teachers he has always wanted to be an educator. In the fall of 2025 he returned to sciences at Concordia University, planning to complete degrees in physics and education and to teach science at the high school or CEGEP level.

Pendant qu’il obtenait son baccalauréat en interprétation musicale, il a complété plusieurs cours de physique et a pris l’allemand comme matière seconde.Malgré qu’il se soit concentré pendant plusieurs années sur la musique, ses premières passions restent les mathématiques et les sciences. Ayant plusieurs proches qui enseignent, il a toujours voulu devenir professeur. En automne 2025, Alexander est retourné aux étudesen sciences à l’Université Concordia, visant à étudier la physique et l’éducation pour devenir enseignant au niveau secondaire ou collégial.

Clément B.

FR: Clément poursuit actuellement une maîtrise en génie de la production automatisée à l’École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS) de Montréal. Diplômé de l’École des Mines d’Alès en France, où il s’est spécialisé en performance industrielle et systèmes mécatroniques, il possède également une solide formation en mathématiques et en physique grâce à son parcours en classe préparatoire scientifique.
Fort de plus de trois ans d’expérience en tutorat, Clément accompagne des élèves de tous niveaux en mathématiques et en physique. Son approche pédagogique repose sur la clarté, la structure et l’adaptation aux besoins de chaque élève afin de favoriser la compréhension, la confiance et l’autonomie.

Dr. Rob R.

Dr. Rob R. brings 44 years of experience in education to his work with students and families at Prep Academy Tutors.

Having grown up in Yugoslavia, Austria, Lebanon, Turkey, and Germany, Rob learned early on how to adapt to new cultures, languages, and expectations. This experience shaped his ability to support students who may be facing transitions, language challenges, or unfamiliar learning environments.

Rob holds a doctorate in Educational Leadership (Ed.D.) from Lehigh University, a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Vermont, and a B.A. from Middlebury College. For 20 years, he taught all subjects in grades 1 – 6 in Vermont public schools, also serving as a teaching-principal.

He then spent 23 years in international education, teaching and leading schools in Spain, Pakistan, Jordan, Switzerland, Japan, and Serbia. Working with students from more than 50 nationalities gave him a deep appreciation for how children learn across cultures and backgrounds. He understands that every student brings curiosity, potential, and a need for encouragement – and he excels at creating supportive, individualized learning experiences.

Since moving to Superior, Colorado, Rob taught as a substitute in the Boulder Valley School District and is excited to continue working 1:1 with students. Families who work with Rob benefit from his global perspective, decades of teaching expertise, and a compassionate approach that helps students build confidence, adapt to challenges, and discover joy in learning.

Sophia C.

EN: Sophia is an alumna of Concordia University, where she earned a Bachelor of Commerce with a major in Finance and a minor in Marketing.
