SARAH R.

Sarah is currently a student at Ontario Institute for Studies in Education in the Masters of Teaching program. She has a particular interest in mathematics education and a consciousness of math anxiety and shame within the math classroom, as she is currently working on research on math anxiety in BIPOC students. Sarah truly believes that every student is capable of learning any subject and believes in the importance of building students’ confidence. So, she focuses on connecting with who students are to teach them in a way that works for them.

Before coming to OISE, Sarah taught dance and gymnastics to kids aged 4-12 in a summer camp setting. In practicum experiences, Sarah taught in a grade 5-6 gifted classroom, a grade 7-8 literacy, history, and art classroom and a grade 8 science classroom, with a concentrated focus on math skills within science. With these different age groups and experiences, Sarah has learned the needs of different age groups and is well-equipped at adapting to these different needs. In the future, she hopes to use what she has learned to teach in a junior or intermediate level classroom setting (grades 4-10).

In her personal life, she enjoys baking, watching movies, and seeing live music. She also is active in the UofT community as a Varsity Blues cheerleader.

Victoria P.

Hello! My name is Victoria and I am extremely passionate about learning, teaching, and helping students unleash their full potential in education. I recently completed my Masters degree in neuroscience from the University of Ottawa and an undergraduate degree in biomedical science. The sciences and math are my specialties, but I also enjoy helping students in other subjects such as French and English. I love making learning an engaging and positive experience and believe every student has the potential to succeed.

I have experience in tutoring and understand how important it is to create a space where students feel comfortable, respected, and motivated to learn. My goal is to make learning fun and create an environment where students feel empowered to ask questions and explore new ideas. Every student learns differently, so I tailor my lesson plans to their individual needs– whether it’s using visual aids, breaking down concepts step-by-step, or interactive real-world examples.

In my free time, you’ll find me reading a good book, creating art, or exploring the outdoors– activities that keep me inspired and curious. I am looking forward to helping your students build confidence, discover their potential, and gain skills that last a lifetime. Let’s make learning an enjoyable and rewarding experience. I look forward to working with you!
