KEVIN W.
SARAH P.
Hi! My name is Sarah, and I am an educator who specializes in science and math. I completed degrees in Secondary Education (grades 7-12) and Science with a specialization in Science Education from the University of Alberta in 2020. Throughout my schooling, I also gained extensive experience working with children and youth through both volunteer and work positions, and thoroughly enjoy engaging with them! I love supporting students by getting to know them and working with them to learn what tools and strategies are going to best empower them to improve and grow in their studies. I am an avid believer in life-long learning, and am dedicated to learning alongside students to be able to facilitate quality educational experiences that meets their needs and goals.
THOMPSON O.
My name is Thompson Okolu, I am a seasoned teacher with major experience in math and physics. I have over 3 years of teaching experience. I have a degree in education. and engineering. As a technical skill, I have experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, and PDMS.
RAFFAELE B.
I am a high school vice principal, teacher and instructional coach specializing in Mathematics and Physics. I bring 20 years of teaching experience in high school math, empowering kids to gain confidence and improve their mathematical ability so that they can become life-long learners confident to handle the challenges of the work place, or post- secondary education.
I specialize in provincial exam prep (Pre-Calc and Applied 12) but am willing to work in any level of math.
I have many hobbies including sports (hockey, golf, basketball), learning languages (I am self taught in Italian and Greek), and music (I play guitar).
VICKI T.
Vicki graduated with a Bachelor of Health Sciences (First Class Hons) from the University of Calgary and now is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Biological Sciences. She has teaching experience with all age groups and has taught up to the undergraduate level. She has recently completed her graduate student certification in University Learning and Teaching at the University of Calgary.
Her teaching philosophy aims to motivate students to feel confident in their own learning capabilities and driven to pursue their academic interests outside of the classroom.
GHADA N.
Ghada has a Ph.D in Science Education and a master’s degree in Physics and has been teaching for 15 years. She has taught AP Physics with calculus, post AP Introduction to Modern Physics, Regents physics, honors pre-calculus, and Experimental Physics at the high school level and algebra-based introductory physics courses at the college level. Ghada enjoys working with students of all ages and looks forward to supporting their work in the sciences.
CAROLINE P.
Caroline is an Ontario Certified Teacher. She grew up in Guelph, moving to Toronto work as a High School Science teacher. She graduated from Brock University with a degree in Concurrent Education, majoring in Physics and a minor in Chemistry. Caroline has always wanted to be a teacher, from as far back as she can remember. She especially loves helping children make connections and discovering the spark of learning. Caroline recognizes and adapts her teaching approach to best accommodate the child’s learning style to ultimately foster a love for Science. In order to achieve this, she believes in building strong relationships with her students through creating a safe and an inclusive environment. During her years of teaching, Caroline has had experience with Physics at both the University and International Baccalaureate level. Teaching students at various levels has taught Caroline the importance of open communication between the teacher and student. In her spare time, Caroline loves skiing with her family in the winter and taking her dogs for long walks in the summer.
CODY F.
Cody is a passionate teacher, dedicated to student success and development. He is a graduate of UofT and OISE, with a background is math, chemistry and physics. He is a versatile and experienced teacher, with over 8 years of teaching experience in different contexts, from swim instructor, to university TA and classroom teacher. He has taught in multiple countries, providing education in different curriculum structures to students with varying needs and learning styles. Cody cherishes great connections with students, believing it to be a cornerstone to student development as it provides a helpful and supportive relationship. As a tutor, he believes any student can succeed given the proper support and understanding of their needs.
Devansh B.
Devansh has a Master of Engineering degree from the University of Toronto (2021). Devansh specialized in Aerospace engineering with a strong background in Mathematics and Science. He has been teaching Science and Mathematics to kids from Grade 9 to Grade 12. Interestingly, Devansh has also taught English to kids in Taiwan (2018).
Devansh enjoys playing sports and going on hiking adventures apart from his passion for teaching.
DAVE M.
Hello! I’m Mr.Dave, and I’ve been helping students understand physics, math, and science for over 30 years. I started my tutoring career by answering an ad when I was in university, and I was amazed at how much fun it was to watch a student suddenly understand concepts they had been struggling with for months.
That first experience changed the course of my life, and led me into a lot more tutoring work, and a second Bachelor’s degree. Eventually, I found myself teaching physics, mathematics, and general science in a private high school for 25 years.
Now I’m transitioning my teaching to a more online medium, and I still love helping young people overcome their challenges in those tough courses.
My focus, especially in physics and science, is to help students really grasp the material conceptually first. Once they have a “gut feeling” about how things really work, students can quickly understand the deeper levels of what is going on.
I have developed a logical, step-by-step approach that really applies to all physics problems. I want to help students learn to know intuitively what to try next. I use a similar approach in teaching math – and in both subjects, I like using several different ways of explaining each idea; different students perceive and learn in different ways, and I love to figure out which approach will work best with each individual.
After 25 years of teaching high school and designing courses, I have gigabytes of images, video clips, handouts, practice problems, and lesson ideas. I’m ready to share those resources to help students not only get unstuck, but also re-discover how much fun learning can be.
I’ve found that once a student is able to overcome a few key points of frustration, their natural curiosity and interest in the subject can be rekindled – and once that happens, the sky is the limit!
If you’re feeling frustrated and confused, it’s time to get connected, get a nudge in the right direction, and get back to enjoying your courses!
