Cherisse L.
Cherisse is a warm, friendly and adaptable educator who believes in meeting students exactly where they are. She understands that every child learns and sees the world in their own unique way, and she is committed to creating a space where students feel supported, heard, and encouraged to grow. Cherisse sees teaching as a two-way experience — one where she learns just as much from her students as they do from her. She graduated from the University of Birmingham with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science and has since developed a deep passion for working with young learners. Her journey into education began in Canada, where she discovered her love for teaching while working as a ski instructor at Silver Star Mountain. Cherisse is passionate about helping students grow in confidence by connecting learning to their natural curiosity and personal interests. In her spare time, Cherisse enjoys hiking, reading, playing tennis, and spending time with friends and family.
Oscar R.
Oscar R. is a passionate and experienced tutor specializing in Math and Science for bilingual learners. With a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of Texas at El Paso and a strong academic foundation in mathematics and physics, Oscar brings clarity, structure, and enthusiasm to every tutoring session.
Oscar has over five years of tutoring and teaching experience, both in the U.S. and abroad. He has taught Math, pre-Calculus, and Physics to bilingual students, with a focus on helping learners build confidence and excel in challenging subjects. His global teaching experience includes tutoring English and Math in Spain and serving as a translator in Honduras for two years- strengthening his ability to communicate across cultures and support multilingual students.
Since moving to Austin two years ago, Oscar has worked as an English teacher for adults and provided tutoring in Math and English Language Arts (ELA) for local elementary schools. He currently tutors students from 4th to 8th grade, helping them master foundational skills, prepare for assessments, and develop a positive mindset toward learning.
Fully bilingual in English and Spanish, Oscar is especially effective with students from diverse language backgrounds. His calm demeanor, structured approach, and natural ability to connect with learners make him a trusted academic mentor for families seeking, reliable, high-quality tutoring support.
Whether your child needs help with long division, algebraic thinking, or tackling science problems with confidence, Oscar’s patient and goal-oriented instruction delivers real results.
Finnegan F.
Finnegan is a dedicated tutor with a strong academic foundation in STEM. After completing British A-levels in chemistry, advanced math, and physics, he pursued his Bachelor’s degree in Ireland and earned a Master’s in England, developing a particular expertise in applied mathematics and its connections to biochemistry. Finnegan’s passion lies in the formulation and application of theory, and he aims to spark curiosity and deeper engagement in learning for every student he works with.
He is also a certified substitute teacher in New Jersey and brings a global educational perspective shaped by formative years in Montclair and academic experiences across Europe
Zachary M.
Zachary M. is presently in his last year of his study for his dual masters in math and physics at UTSA. Some may say that in doing so, he is trying to prolong his adolescence and avoid adulthood. But truth be told, Zach is very passionate about his studies. This was not always the case. Admittedly, Zach was mathematically challenged in middle school (his mom would help him with his algebra homework). But something clicked for him in high school. He took every AP math and science class that he could and went so far as to participate in academic UIL. After graduation from high school, Zach began studying math and physics at UTSA. He took up a job as a physics tutor on a whim but came to discover that he really enjoys helping people learn. Now as a graduate student, Zach teaches introductory physics labs. In doing so, he does his best to accommodate all of his students while simultaneously emphasizing the mathematical and theoretical underpinnings of physics.
JOSIN J.
Josin is a passionate Physics and Math educator, experimental physicist, and enthusiastic supporter of string theory. With over five years of teaching experience across Ontario and internationally, he has taught high school and AP-level courses including SPH3U, SPH4U, and MCR3U. Josin is known for his innovative, real-world approach that transforms the learning of physics and mathematics from rote formulas into deep, intuitive understanding.
Holding a Master’s in Materials Physics from Brock University with a research focus in advanced experimental condensed matter physics, Josin combines scientific rigor with creativity in the classroom. He integrates hands-on experiments, AI-powered tools, and philosophical insights to make lessons not only accessible but truly transformative. His teaching philosophy emphasizes that math and physics aren’t just subjects—they’re a way of thinking, a way of life.
Inspired by the elegance of theoretical frameworks like string theory and grounded in practical experimentation, Josin empowers students to connect the abstract with the tangible, nurturing curiosity, critical thinking, and lifelong learning.
Hannah M.
Hannah has a Bachelor of Applied Science in Engineering Science as well as a Master of Applied Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering. She is currently working on a PhD in Civil Engineering at the University of Toronto. She has tutored grade 9-12 math since 2023 (including in French, thanks to her school years in the French Baccalaureate) and has experience teaching robotics (in addition to helping students prepare for FIRST), physics, chemistry, English and French. She has also worked as a Teaching Assistant for a variety of engineering courses at the University of Toronto.
Having lived in a variety of countries in her youth (Ghana, Syria, Peru, South Korea), Hannah appreciates the very different ways that the same concept can be understood. As such, her approach to teaching is student-focused, leaning on the unique way that each child conceives of the world. She is particularly passionate about the multiplicity of approaches one can take in math to arrive at the same solution!
