Marcus C.
Marcus is an experienced education professional with more than a decade of service in the public school system. Over the course of his career, he has held a variety of roles including After-School Care Site Manager, Instructional Assistant, Classroom Teacher, and currently serves as a Special Education Coordinator and Campus Testing Coordinator. Marcus has worked with students across all grade levels, from elementary through high school, giving him a well-rounded understanding of student development and diverse learning needs.
Marcus earned both his Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and his Master’s degree in Special Education with a concentration as an Instructional Specialist from Texas A&M University–San Antonio. He currently holds Texas teaching certifications in Early Childhood through 12th Grade Special Education and 4th through 8th Grade Mathematics.
His passion for education began while working as an after-school program site manager and AVID tutor, where he regularly supported students in developing stronger math skills. Seeing students gain confidence after mastering a concept that once seemed difficult remains one of the most rewarding parts of his work and continues to inspire his dedication to teaching mathematics and supporting diverse learners.
Marcus firmly believes that every student has the potential to succeed when given the right support, encouragement, and instructional approach. He often reminds his students of a favorite line from the film Ratatouille: “Anyone can math.” This philosophy reflects his commitment to focusing on students’ strengths and helping them build the confidence needed to overcome academic challenges.
Outside of education, Marcus enjoys spending time with his family, making barbecue, and bowling.
Aaron C.
Aaron C. is a Carnegie Mellon University Mechanical Engineering graduate who currently applies his quantitative skills as an equity research analyst for a prop trading firm at the World Trade Center. With a strong commitment to education, Aaron demystifies the rigors of STEM for his students, offering expert, one-on-one tutoring in everything from trigonometry and basic coding to advanced AP Calculus. He is dedicated to helping students bridge the gap between abstract mathematical theory and practical, everyday problem-solving. A man of diverse talents, Aaron is also a dedicated writer with a background in vocal performance; in his spare time, he enjoys proving that engineers can indeed carry a tune.
Christoper K.
Chris is a committed mathematics tutor with a strong academic background in both mathematics and education, earned through a rigorous program at Xavier University of Louisiana. With a professional, methodical approach to instruction, Chris excels at clarifying complex mathematical concepts and fostering meaningful academic growth in students.
Beyond tutoring, Chris engages in hands-on problem solving through repairing muscle cars, explores creativity and logic by developing digital games, and enjoys the precision and experimentation of cooking. These diverse interests enrich Chris’s instructional style, bringing discipline, innovation, and real-world relevance to every learning experience.
Antonio V.
Antonio is a physics graduate with a minor in computer science and extensive tutoring experience with students from elementary school through college. He specializes in making complex concepts clear, intuitive, and approachable—whether the focus is calculus, physics, programming, data analysis, or exam preparation. His goal is to help students build real understanding, not rely on memorization.
He earned a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the University of Texas at San Antonio, completing advanced coursework in Quantum Mechanics, Electrodynamics, Nanophotonics, Data Structures, and Computational Science. Antonio also has strong research experience, including serving as a Department of Energy Research Intern at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, where he worked in computational physics, machine learning, network theory, and protein modeling using Python, R, and high-performance computing resources.
Antonio has provided both one-on-one and group tutoring in math (from pre-algebra through differential equations), physics (including AP Physics), computer programming, and data analysis. At UTSA, he also served as a MATLAB Tutor and a Thermal Physics Reader/Grader, supporting students with debugging, interpreting data, and building confidence in rigorous technical courses.
Students and families appreciate Antonio’s patience and adaptability. He tailors explanations to each student’s learning style, breaking problems down step by step while reinforcing the bigger-picture concepts. He brings a rare combination of strong academic credentials, real research experience, and a supportive teaching approach to help students succeed.
Jackson G.
Jackson G. is a teacher candidate specializing in mathematics and physics. He has spent his career helping Grade 9–12 students build confidence in some of the most challenging secondary courses. With extensive experience teaching and designing curriculum in senior mathematics, especially Advanced Functions, Calculus & Vectors, and Physics, Jackson is known for his clear explanations, patient guidance, and ability to break down complex ideas into approachable steps. Outside of teaching, Jackson enjoys playing games, spending time with family and friends, and cheering on his favourite sports teams. Eddy V.
Eduardo “Eddy” V. is a passionate educator with a B.S. in Physics with a Minor in Mathematics from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio. With over 5 years of teaching in the classroom across all subjects in science (including Biology, Chemistry, and Physics), Eddy is a powerhouse of rigor and foundational teaching. Eddy’s love of teaching comes from a young age, being a leader, and showing everyone the way. Throughout College he would hold his own tutoring sessions in his University physics course where other students would struggle. Now he teaches over 100+ students AP Physics and Biology, and he enjoys time with his cats.
Fabian C.
Fabian C. is a certified tutor and senior Honors Mechanical Engineering student at Louisiana State University with a strong passion for helping students build confidence and mastery in math and science. With several years of tutoring experience, Fabian supports students in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and standardized test preparation, including the ACT and SAT. He is known for breaking down complex concepts into clear, manageable steps while teaching effective problem-solving and test-taking strategies that improve both accuracy and confidence.
Fabian customizes each lesson to match the student’s learning style and academic goals, whether strengthening core fundamentals, improving test scores, or preparing for advanced coursework. His engineering and robotics background bring a structured, analytical approach to learning, while his patient and encouraging teaching style helps students feel comfortable asking questions and reaching their full potential. Outside of tutoring and academics, Fabian enjoys mentoring, exploring innovative technologies, and finding creative ways to make learning both effective and enjoyable.
Leah L.
Leah is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education major at Louisiana State University and brings meaningful experience working with children in structured learning environments. Leah has supported students ages 6 weeks through 10 years old by planning and implementing educational activities that promote literacy, problem-solving, and positive learning habits. Through her work with students and families, Leah has developed an engaging and individualized approach to tutoring that focuses on meeting each student’s unique learning style and needs. She believes that building strong relationships with students is essential for academic success and strives to create lessons that are both effective and motivating.
Leah is CPR, AED, and Mandated Reporter certified and is committed to maintaining a safe, supportive, and professional learning environment. In her free time, Leah enjoys volunteering in her community and working with animals — and thanks to her time working at a daycare, she has mastered the art of turning learning into fun and can confidently say she is an expert at solving both math problems and crayon-related emergencies.
Travis McG.
Travis McGinnis has a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Regis University, with endorsements in both Gifted and Talented Education and Social Studies. With 15 years of classroom experience in the Adams 12 and Jeffco School Districts, Travis is an expert at guiding students through Reading, Writing, and Math using goal-setting and arts-integrated methods.
In 2017, Travis was awarded the Talented Teacher Award by the Jeffco School District, and recognized for “100% student achievement,” as all his students met or exceeded their goals in Reading, Writing, and Math. In 2016, he also contributed to Devinney Elementary School winning the National Blue Ribbon Award.
Outside the classroom, Travis enjoys playing soccer, boardgames, baking sourdough bread, and writing fantasy and science fiction novels. When he’s not writing, gaming, or baking masterpieces in the kitchen, he enjoys quality time with his wife, four children, and their mini-goldendoodle puppy.
Travis’s experience as an educator, his enthusiasm for learning, and zest for life make him an ideal “smart friend” for elementary and middle-school students who could use a little inspiration to overcome challenges and master the learning process.
Kevin B.
Kevin is a retired, still passionate teacher. Kevin earned undergraduate and graduate degrees from Brock and York Universities. His dissertation focused on the proximate and ultimate causes of adoption behaviour in birds. Upon graduation, as a Research Associate, Dr. Brown joined Cornell University where he planned and conducted a five-year research program concerning birds and aircraft in the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge – J.F. Kennedy Airport complex in New York City. His research activities with birds on Lake Erie and Jamaica Bay led to 15 publications in peer-reviewed journals and numerous conference presentations across North America and Europe. In 2000 Kevin returned to Brock University, as an Assistant Professor, where he taught courses in ecology, conservation and environment. After four-year contracts, Kevin secured a permanent job at a private high school in Ontario where he taught grades 11 and 12 math and biology to student-athletes as well as coached the varsity wrestling team; certified Level 1 under the Canadian Coaching Certification Program.
Continuing his passion to teach and to mentor student-athletes, Kevin has been tutoring student-athletes one-on-one, small groups and online. He strives to help students develop learning strategies that will lead to success both inside and outside of the classroom while fostering the development of self-discipline, self-regulation and leadership skills in young adults. Outside of teaching math and coaching wrestling, Kevin is husband to wife Donna of 38 years; they reside in the Niagara area. Kevin and Donna have four grown children together all of whom have graduated university and work either in the health care industry or recreation and leisure. His hobbies include golf, canoeing and gardening. Given his prior experience teaching and mentoring youth, Kevin will quickly become a valued member of faculty at Prep Academy Tutors.
